Hot Ice #3

Slap Shot

They say a leopard can’t change its spots. They’re wrong, because I did! Now I’m successful and independent and busy heading up my own company. I don’t have time for the complication of a man in my bed—not yet. That plan is years down the line.

Or so I thought. Because when a certain devastatingly sexy hockey captain sets his sights on me, my old impulsive self is determined to make up for two years of abstinence. I had to get sweaty, naked and dirty real quick. Heck to the consequences, regardless of the outcome. It’s all about immediate pleasure and intense satisfaction.

Trouble is, best laid plans never run smoothly and before I know it, I’m working a pole again and running for my life. Just as well Rick “Ramrod” Lewis lives up to his reputation and his name—big, bad and fortunately playing to win!

The players:

Rick "Ramrod" Lewis: mid 30s, dark haired, brown eyed, soul patch, dimples, ruggedly handsome, big, muscular, sexy, overly endowed, captain of the Orlando Vipers NHL hockey team.

"Ramrod"...
 photo 0f1fad17-06a1-4d14-bc36-0f3c7ff1bd82_zps216e9a21.jpg

Dana Wilcox: 20 something, long dark hair, curvy, former stripper, now owns her own event planning company.

Dana...
 photo 3cd4cba6-352e-4ea3-9d65-af11fd01bbe6_zps29cea585.jpg

Dana meets Rick at an event she planned. He hits on her with his corniest lines ("Is there an airport around here or is that my heart taking off?"; "Are you a parking ticket babe, 'cause you got 'fine' written all over you?", and this gem "I wish you were a door, then I could bang you all night long.") None of these pickup lines has an effect on Dana--she's been celibate for over 2 years and she likes it that way. She's taken her crappy, wild past and put it all behind her. No longer is she going to be "bad Dana" and succumb to what her body wants. She's all business, all the time now. But jeez, this sexy hockey stud could tempt a nun...

Rick has never been this attracted to a woman before. They have an encounter almost immediately but then Dana terms it a "mistake". Mistake, hell. Rick wants something more beyond the physical with Dana and he pursues her until she agrees to go out with him. It's "goodbye, celibacy" for Dana..and hello, hot times with Ramrod!

This was light and fun and sexy and held my interest. Rick was a protective, sexy badboy with a good heart. Dana was a hard worker who turned her life around. Their chemistry was off the charts, the sex scenes were uber hot. The plot wasn't complicated, and even had a bit of suspense (Rick had a crazy stalker after him).

If you're a hockey fan, don't look for much action, because there wasn't. I'm not sure if the writer is familiar with NHL hockey, because players do not wear 'cages' on their helmets, and goals are 'goals', not 'points'. But no matter, it's not about the hockey, it's about the characters and the heat factor.

And the heat factor was pretty darn high, especially when Rick had a 'special request' for his birthday...whew.

So, hot little series here. The writing is decent, there's a bit of a plot, and the H/h have plenty of sparks. What's not to love, especially if you're in the mood for something light and sexy? This filled the bill for me. 4 stars

If you have ever met a guy who starts the conversation off with a string of pick up lines, you know he is either a complete douche-bag or he’s sexy specimen of a man masquerading as a comical genius.

“I’m Rick by the way.” ”Remember that, darlin’, ‘cause you’ll be screaming it later.” HELL YEAH! Ding! Ding! Ding! Sign me up for that, please!

When professional hockey player, Rick “Ramrod” Lewis meets Dana for the first time, he showers her with his best one-liners – what does that get him? Nothing but an exaggerated eye-roll and a view of her ass and elbows as she scurried in the opposite direction! Wild animals are skittish and tend to scamper away when you get too close. That is exactly what Dana is like and exactly why the nickname eventually bestowed on her by Rick Ramrod Lewis is so perfect...though the nickname was derived from something else entirely.

Dana is the type of heroine I really enjoy getting to know. She is strong, sexy, sassy and successful. Dana’s former life as a dancer is definitely something she would rather not revisit - her sights are set on her future and she is convinced that Mr. Famous is not part of that picture. Rick is determined to make her see otherwise because he is confident that she is the perfect woman to share his life with. The Angel on Dana’s shoulder urges her to remain focused on her career, but after 2 years of no sex, the Devil is yelling at her to get a life and taste just a little of the sin Rick is offering.

Wouldn’t you know it, just as Rick begins to make some headway with Dana, a psycho-stalker surfaces from his past and is determined to have Rick all to herself. Rick’s crazy one-night stand targets Dana, turning her newly perfect world upside down, which is exactly what Dana was hoping to avoid.

SLAP SHOT, the third book in the HOT ICE series, is surprisingly suspenseful, but just as sexy as Lily Harlem’s previous two books. If you are looking for a great steamy story featuring an ex-bad girl heroine and a celebrity hero you can’t help but love, then you will definitely want to get this book!

Article first published as eBook Review: Slap Shot by Lily Harlem on Blogcritics.

Slap Shot is book three in Lily Harlem's Hot Ice series. This time, we're told the story of Rick "Ramrod" Lewis and event planner, Dana Wilcox. They meet at an event and are immediately drawn to one another. Unfortunately for Ramrod, Dana's troubled past has made her swear off men for several years. He manages to talk her into a quickie - but then she runs away and refuses to speak to him again. However, the determined captain of the hockey team won't let her brush off what happened between them, not without a damn good reason.

Dana doesn't want to divulge her reasons - she's worked incredibly hard to escape her past, and doesn't particularly want to revisit it. However, Ramrod has wormed his way into her affections and persuades her to give him a chance. As is often the case, things don't run smoothly, and the couple are subjected to more than one troubling issue before they're allowed their happy ending.

This has been my favourite book of the series so far. I really like the character Rick/Ramrod, and the novel's storyline. It's intriguing, action-packed, erotic and romantic. I'm really looking forward to moving onto the next book in this excellent series.

Book 3 of the Hot Ice series and the team members of the Vipers are as hot on the ice as they are off it!

This book see the team captain Rick 'Ramrod' Lewis chasing after Dana - an events manager. Trouble is Dana has no time for a man in her life, and has promised herself nothing will change. Dana tries her best to resist but sometimes it helps to break promises.

Love this series!

Slap Shot is the third book in the Hot Ice series by Lily Harlem.
Captain Rick “Ramrod” Lewis is so sexy! His cockiness might throw women off but he is the sweetest guy once you get to know him. Dana Wilcox is an event planner and she is in for the ride of her life. She doesn’t do relationships due to her sordid past but thankfully Rick helps her see past this. Rick turns her onto things that she never thought would happen. Oh and there is a twist in the story but you will have to read it for yourself to find out what it is. This is one hot and sexy story by Lily Harlem. I didn’t want to put it down once I started.

keep in mind i am rating by the series. in normal rating world I would probably give 2 stars but as series and author 3 wins it. anyway I think Lily is on to something. I find that the stories get better as the series moves forward. sex seems to be the center of the stories which at times too much sex but we are starting to get some substance on top of the sex. there was actually a story here and when physco came in to the mix made it 10 times better. Lily should of played with that a little more but needless to say this was better than Pheonix and Bricks story. hope I feel the same writing the review to book 4.

Love this!

Rick just knew she was the one. He had to make her see it... and she seen it with stars. He knew what she needed and he brought her there. He brought out bad Dana again, and she loved that side of herself with him.

Hot and sweet.

This series has great characters. All books are sweet, no bad boys included. Though this particular one has an element of danger amidst spicy scenes.

Rick “Ramrod” Lewis seems to have it all. Expensive car, big house, an exciting career as the captain of the Orlando Vipers hockey team, and even a crazed stalker-fan who’s been sending him ‘love notes’ after a one-night stand mistake. Unfortunately, none of it means as much anymore since he doesn’t have anyone to share it with. The unfulfilled feeling makes all of the materials things he possesses feel a bit lacking, but all of that changes the day he meets a most organized, unadventurous, and beautiful woman wearing fire-engine red heels.

She resists his charme, and he can't resist the challenge. It is too tempting to resist and before long it becomes his mission to see that the infuriating woman become the “wild thing” he believes her to be. It soon becomes apparent to Rick that the cold shoulder she tries to throw his way is just a front of self-protection, which makes him even more determined to know the woman who has bewitched him and then to win her heart.

For Dana Wilcox, event organizer and owner of Best Laid Plans, two years of sexual abstinence and swearing off men is about to go flying out the window. She knows her priorities and getting caught up in the sexually charged firestorm that is Rick is not one of the them But with fate constantly throwing them together, keeping her priorities in check proves harder than expected. The “old” Dana wouldn't have thought twice at jumping on the sexy captain, but the “new” Dana is afraid of unleashing her, even for just one night, and unraveling all the hard work she's put into her image and business.

Dana's experienced past with absent parents and the “seedy nocturnal world” ended one morning with a rude awakening of sorts and since then she hasn't looked back. She may not be proud of some of things she had to do to get there, but she is proud of what she has accomplished. Even her taste in men had changed. The plan was to find “Mr. Absolutely Spot-on Perfect” later in life, yet the persistent guy wanting to try out for the role is anything but and yet everything she needs. However, someone has been watching their every move and is determined to make sure that the threat is eliminated.

With a mixture of emotionally enriched characters and sexual chemistry, this surprisingly suspenseful story takes flight right from the start and will capture the attention of any romance reader. Ms. Harlem never fails to instill vividly intense sex scenes into her stories and this one is no exception with an incredibly heated spin to an unplanned pole dancing session. The character and relationship developments were a pleasure to read and very well done and I really enjoyed the updates on the first two couples from earlier in the series as well. Now I'm even more excited to continue exploring more of the alpha men from the Orlando Vipers team and the women who tame them, but Slap Shot will definitely be staying on re-read shelf. To any erotic romance reader who hasn't read a Lily Harlem story, here is a great place to start.

It starts with a cheesy pick up line. No, really, I mean it's very cheesy! But Rick Lewis sets his sights on Dana, and despite her every effort to push him away, he keeps coming back, and showing Dana what she's missing by not dating.

Dana has gotten past her wild days. She's now responsible and free of her past. Maybe something in Rick reminds her of those times she'd rather forget. But Rick makes her feel things she hasn't in a very long time.

Slap Shot is another winner by Lily Harlem. The charismatic characters she creates will sweep readers into a charming, hot romance that won't let go. The third book in the Hot Ice series thrills and excites. The conflict, inner and outer, keeps the tension high as the pages turn.

I have enjoyed this book and I'll tell you, if you love contemporary romance with a lot of hot sex and an all around wonderful story, then get yourself a copy of Slap Shot. Go on, enjoy this!

Slap Shot is book 3 of the Hot Ice series. After reading this story, I look forward to getting my hands on books 1 and 2. The author did a great job engaging the reader. I had a very hard time putting it down and read it very quickly.

I felt a very strong connection to both Dana and Rick. They are characters you would enjoy getting to know in real life. Both of them have worked very hard to overcome their past and get them where they are now. Dana is a successful business owner and Rick is the captain of the Orlando Vipers.

There were funny moments, HOT moments, tender/sweet moments and even an unexpected twist that left me on the edge of my seat.

This is the third book in the Hot Ice Series, and the books just keep getting hotter. Lily Harlem knows how to keep a reader interested from the first page with characters that are realistic and a plot that will keep you guessing until the last page. I hated to see this book end but I hope that there will be more in this series because the characters that were introduced in this one were funny and complex and I’d love to get to know them. This entire series would make a great addition to anyone’s reading shelf and Lily Harlem is definitely someone to watch out for in the future!

Another great addition to the Hot Ice series. I liked that Dana was trying so very hard to leave her old life behind. Sounds like she was scared straight, and she got lucky that she had an out. The "good Dana" vs "bad Dana" internal dialogue was entertaining. It also sounds like she was born to party, lol... or at least organize others' parties. She'd built a great business, mostly by word of mouth. Rick sure came on strong with her. I wonder if it was partially that she just wasn't fazed by his advances and celebrity? Maybe she became a challenge? I'm really glad that it became something more than just a challenge, though.

The Queen of Steam delivers again! This time the captain of The Vipers hockey team, Rick 'Ramrod' Lewis gets his story. Rick is your typical cocky jock, all he has to do is click his fingers and the ladies come running. Not so with events organiser Dana Wilcox though. Dana has had an 'interesting' past and poor relationship choices have led her to career over men. Rick's not about to give up that easily though and he also has a skeleton knocking noisily on his closet door! The Hot Ice stories make me beam from ear to ear. Lily writes the perfect combination of romance and sauce with characters that are 100% real and loveable. Another sure fire hit.

Wow. An absolutely hot read. The chemistry and the storyline is just awsome. I really couldn't put it down. I have just 3 rules regarding reading books by lily harlem,
1 - don't read while your partner is not home
2 - don't read without a constant supply of batteries
3 - don't read when your poorly.

This book has hot sex, romance and a crazy ass stalker which leads to an amazing suspense moment. Highly recommend this book and others by Lily Harlem

Well hot damn! Rick "Ramrod" Lewis is sex on skates.. Captain of the Vipers and looking for the right woman to finally settle down

Dana wants to put her past behind her and move on.. She is running a very successful event planning business.. She didn't plan on meeting the Captain at the wedding of his teammate..

Lust between them is overwhelming.. Dana lets her guard down and can't help her self with Ramrod..

Can both their pasts come back to haunt them or can they move forward and be happy?
