Dragon Kin #3-6

The Dragon Who Loved Me / What a Dragon Should Know / Last Dragon Standing

Rate this book
Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, "Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us--the most loved of all dragons?" No For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence as well as my innate humility. Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer. So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call The Beast. A being so fearful, the greatest warriors will only whisper its name. Yet I, Gwenvael, will courageously face down this terrifying. . .woman? It turns out the Beast, a.k.a. Dagmar Reinholdt, is a woman--one with steel-gray eyes and a shocking disregard for my good looks. Beneath her plain robes and prim spectacles lies a sensual creature waiting to be unleashed. Who better than a dragon to thaw out that icy demeanor?

And who better than a beast to finally tame a mighty dragon's heart?

"Sexy and outrageous humor." --"Romantic Times"

I know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise stronger than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail's length. A technique that's worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior mage from the desolate Northlands. Unlike those who've come before him, he does not simply submit to my astounding charm and devastating smile. Instead, he dismisses me as vapid, useless and, to my great annoyance, rather stupid

Yet I'll allow no male to dismiss me. Soon he'll learn my worth, my many skills, and the strength of my will. For this one challenges me enough to make me want to ruthlessly taunt him, tease him and, finally, when the trap is set, bring him to his knees.

I was raised for battle. And as the first daughter of a warrior family, I've earned my reputation the hard way. Yet now I fight alongside uncivilized male Northland dragons who think a female is only good for breeding and waiting back home in the cave. But it's the foolish and foolhardy who would try to stop me, Rhona the Fearless, from doing what I do best-destroying the enemies of my kind.

So the smartest thing wily barbarian Vigholf the Abhorrent can do for me is stay out of my way as we risk all on a deadly mission in enemy territory. I don't care if he's fascinated by me, even though he is as attractive as he is resourceful. He's having far too much fun putting me in difficult situations and testing my sense of duty to the limit. And I'm going to enjoy challenging his insufferable confidence, outwitting his schemes, and making him surrender in the wildest ways. . .

Ok now… whose bright idea was to put these books in this bundle out of order? Seriously, why would anyone put a series together that goes book 5, 3, 4, 6? Just… WHY?

2/22/18 Last Dragon Standing * * * *
3/8/18 The Dragon Who Loved Me * * * * (good story, shit title)

As a e-book you need to skip the first book (it's actually book 5 in the series) and go to the second book and start there (book 3 in the series). The last book is actually book 4 in the series. Great series, engaging, and plenty of laughs, sarcastic humor, sex, action, great characters.
What a Dragon Should Know is book 3 and about Gwenvael & Dagmar. The first part of the book is so so but has plenty of laughs, especially the way he teases her brothers who are ultra macho. She is a great strategist that even in her father's land that is dominated by the men, she is prized by her father and he takes her advice for most everything including battle plans. Gwenvael is the family whore that even his own siblings doubt he can follow order and complete the mission he's on without messing it up by sleeping with the wrong girl.
Book 4 is Last Dragon Standing, about Keita & Rognar. He's a Northlander & she's also the family whore or viper or spoiled brat. Plenty of laughs, some action, and lots of new characters.
Book 5 is The Dragon Who Loved Me is about Rhona, who raised her siblings & is a soldier, & Vigholf, another Northlander. It is packed with action, plenty of laughs, and the kids really make you wonder about what they're going to be like as adults considering what they can do now. The issues with Izzy & Eibhear are still happening.

I wish that these books were written in order so that I could just continue to read from the first page to the last, but I had to go back and forth to the author's page to read the right one! But, no matter, I absolutely loved reading every single one of them!

All four of these delightful stories will keep you glued to the pages until you reach the end and then you'll have to get to the next one to see where you end up!!!

Since I UBER-HYSETERICAL-LOVE-NEED-WANT all the books in the series, I decided to buy them. I wanted to read them NOWWW!! so I got them via e-books.. I wished I wasn't so impatient so I could buy the hard copies b/c I wanted them separate and I wanted them in my hands, literally, but.. I'm too gosh darnnnnn IMPATIENT!! And this was a good deal (Cha-chinggg!) Anyways it was either buy all of the books separately and use up about 19 dollars worth or 10-11 dollars worth or 15 dollars for the 4th book too. And since I wanted to read all of them right now, have them all ready on hand, I decided to just *sighh* oh-well it and buy this bundle... Oh well.. we'll see if I love this online version of my favorite Dragon series..! But, lately, I've started reallly endorsing in and collecting ebooks. I'm a little iffy-upset-not-happy with the bn website though (an hour or hour and a half conversation on the phone with a bn error thing that wasted a chunk of my time pissing annoying) I'm putting bn aside.. for now anyways.

Update: OHMYfuckingG!!!!!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOGMGOMGOGMOGMGOMGOMGOGMMOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHMFUCKINGG!!!!!!!!!!! OK SO.......wow.. ok.. damn I'm speechless in shock!!! OMG!!!!! So I thought I'd bought my lovable Dragon Actually (my favefavefavefavefavefaveeeee in the series) and the other two amazing kick-effin-butt-AWESOME books in the series but no I was wrong... HOLY SHI-LALAHH!!! OMGOMGOMG!!! I GET TO READ THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES NOW! BOOK 5! HAHAHAHA YAY!!:DD

SO I'D FORGOTTEN, HAHAH SILLY ME, THAT THERE ALREADY HAS BEEN FOUR BOOKS OUT HOW COULD I MISCOUNT?? SILLLY SILLLLY. THERE'S BREIC (I'D ACTUALLY BOUGHT THIS BOOK TO READ About A Dragon (Dragon Kin, #2) BUT OH WELL I GET TO READ THE NEWEST ONE AWESOMENESSS:DDD) SO I HAVE THE OTHER HALF OF THE SERIES THEN AWESOME! GONNA GET READING NOW. CIAO-O!!!:DD

latest update: Not too too excited anymore.. because.. I don't remember who or know who the main characters of the new book is and I don't know if I'll like them......... SERIOUSLY... unsure... of what I'll feel... right now though, I'm hesitant nad not very HYPED to read the book... bleh... ...... I want to read Annwyl and Fearghus and Breic and Talaith's story.

I have not give this bundle a 5* overall rating because all the stories were good; but I had MAJOR ISSUES with Izzy & Bluebell throughout almost the end of their book.
I have no problem with a promiscuous or a slutty character prior to committing to their ONE...but I can't stand when an author keeps showing me the characters like each other and yet they cheat on those emotions by sleeping with their future partner's best friend or family member! It would be better if the character had an orgy or slept with tons more people! Age doesn't excuse that you're inadvertently rubbing it in! *UGH*

The saving glory for their book was that there was more about side/previous characters and as usual from my favorite author, a great plot aside from the romance!

I'm glad this happens rarely but there have been a few books that were ruined for me because of this or cheating. I wish authors understood than other than sexual mechanics I'm reading fiction for fiction sake!

Dragon Kin #6, 7 & 8 (chronological order)
For whatever reason, this Kindle bundle is not in chronological order, or even the order the books were written in, which in this case happens to be the same as chronological order. It is very annoying! :-(

Here is my breakdown per book:
The Dragon Who Loved Me - 4 stars
What a Dragon Should Know - 5 stars
Last Dragon Standing - 4.5 stars

Just in case you wanted to know, here is my preferred reading order for all of the books in this series to date:
Chronological Reading Order
1. "Can't Get Enough" from Everlasting Bad Boys
2. "Chains & Flames" from Dragon Actually
3. "Dragon On Top" from Supernatural
4. Dragon Actually
5. About a Dragon
6. What a Dragon Should Know
7. Last Dragon Standing
8. The Dragon Who Loved Me
9. How to Drive a Dragon Crazy

First of all, I admire the author so much for creating a deeply developed world. The strengths of the series are rich world building; fun, varied, developed character personalities; and witty dialogue.

On another note - my Kindle comes in very handy when I read these types of books - no one else sees the covers or the titles, but they do hear me laugh - a lot. The whole premise of human/dragon shifters makes for amusing situations and just thinking of the size differential during fight scenes sparks my imagination. (The sex scenes happen when everyone is in the same form so don't go too far in that direction.) Although, it does seem just a little bit too easy for the humans to get extended life to match their dragon mate - but that's a small detail.

The set up of this set of books is confusing. I didn't realize that it was set up 5, 3, 4, 6. However, whatever, I figured it out.

My only complaint is that who put these books in this order???? They get a negative 5 stars for that. I had this book in my library forever because I couldn't get by Dragon kin #5---then I gave up and went to next book and totally fell in love with this---Loved times squared Gwenvael when arriving at the Reinholdt's gates as a dragon who unleashes a wall of fire and then proceeds to tell the humans looking at him..."Go on, feel free to piss yourselves and cower helplessly". Gotta appreciate a guy with a sense of humor. Also loved Dagmar "the Beast" and in the last book Ragnar and Keita great....even so I still had a little problem wading through the first book listed and doesn't even seem cohesive to me for these stories to get lumped in a bundle.

The dragon series by G.A. Aiken is a romance series set in a medieval like world. Dragon females are no-nonsense and delightfully take charge. It takes a strong male to woo and win one of these damsels. There's plenty of intrigue as well, as the dragon and human queens must face challenges to their thrones. The hero and heroine of each book play their own parts in securing the safety and prosperity of their realms, meanwhile falling in love and pairing off. Blunt characters, strong (even bloody) females, exasperated males, high fantasy, low humor, and hot hot hot sex scenes all wrapped up in enjoyable humor.

I'm lollipops happy I found this series so so happy... If you like Mimi j pamiloff ..(sp) lizzy Ford or r mathewson you will love these books. it's should totally be made into a film or series. the dynamics of the characters is brilliant even though it's sort of slap stick comedy I CCANNOT RECCOMEND ENOUGH GO GO BUY NOW NOW . only 1 down side it's not played out in order I had to keep flicking back to a review to see which one to read next. also it says you don't need to read the first two but u really do. have fun xxx

great writing, this is my first find in the series, it is actually put together backwards with the first story of the trio being the last story in the ebook bunch, that was wretched, reading the last first, then learning the characters and their history last. Personally I prefer less stark and crass sexual language and more story but the stories are really great and the family very amusing, which is facinating when you realise how much blood and gore one can take while laughing so frequently.

Exquisite anthology of the dragons and humans of Annwyl's reign!

My only dislike was not knowing the order of the books otherwise the 4 Nobel anthology was a raucous ride from start to finish. The characters are unforgettable making you laugh and cry. Following the lives of each couple as they find themselves. One of the best in shifter romance! Love her writing and the worlds that she creates. Some typos and inconsistencies but these are resolved and made clear.

I liked the stories but they were not in order in this bundle. I also am new to the series and was dismayed by all the characters in the stories. It was so confusing to have to keep remembering who was who. I got even more confused when I read the 2nd book which was not in order. I loved the sexy scenes and the humor of the Dragon by play. I was a little confused by the cursing initially but found it helped establish the way the dragons are as opposed to the humans.

So far, I'm thinking this might be a book that I don't finish reading. I'm having a hard time following the story, because of the way it switches between characters.

Yes...I did decide to just put this book down. Maybe I will revisit it sometime in the future, but it just isn't what I normally read, and it did not keep my attention...no stars.

do be warned, this set is totally out of order. but all in all, a really entertaining series. puzzlingly (and refreshingly?) also the only series i've actually seen where the writing dedicated to sex scenes drops in every new book and story goes up. which... i find kind of really nice? dagmar is my favorite, though. easily.

Loved all of them!!!

The Dragons go through so much with their mates. War and family they stuck together through it all and when the gods become involved. Well it just doesn't go as planned. But they came through stronger. You will laugh out loud throughout the books. I found them hard to put down. I just wanted to keep on reading!

Brilliant!!!

The actual book order is wrong ....5, 3, 4, 6.....But don't let that distract you from a great set of books You will absolutely love these books...laugh out loud characters and enough plots and twists to keep you glued to your kindle for days. A real must have addition to your e-library.

Word of warning for the bundle...the stories are out of order. The Dragon Who Loved Me (the 1st story in the bundle) should be read last. But the stories are enjoyable. Good plot and character development. Not for the prudish. Lots of earthy humor and plenty of sex.

Unless I'm crazy (which is possible), there are a couple of continuity issues, but overall, I loved all four books.

Sidenote: Why do we never hear about the female dragons marking their mates? Morfyd, Rhona, even Keita could, but apparently none of them have.

Loved this bundle of 4 full length books and gives great value. Each book has a HEA for at least 1 couple and we get more about previous couples lives as they continue to fight against such amazing cultures. The couples are feisty and funny and I loved them all.

Wonderful fantasy!

All books are a great for me to read! Still a 5 star rating, fast paced, still adult reading, though. Aiken, does a good job of putting you in the story just give them a chance, some characters you love to hate!

I love G A Aiken's sense of cryptic humor. It's one of the reasons I'll buy anything she writes. It's so like reading episodes of the TV series *MASH*. The humor is sharp, witty and unrepentant. Love it!

I want to like this but the world building is so exhausting. It has some funny bits and I’m guessing it might be good if I can just make it through all the explanation and weird names. But I’m just not feeling up to doing that kind of work right now.
