I. Loved. This. Book. The blurb about the book sounded very sad but I enjoyed Surviving a Writers Life so much I wanted to read another book by this author. She spent her life wanting to write but needing to make a living and worked as an editor for many years. Rewriting others stories and marrying and raising two boys kept her from writing more than she did. All that and cancer took her away from writing. This sounds like a review of surviving a writers life. Ahem.

Toward the end of this book I realized it reminded me of Olive Kitterage, of course this was written many years before that book but it follows that concept of different stories about the same family and each story is a WOW.

Here is a phrase I loved: "their old attachment hung between them like an old hammock that had been vacated and left to sag."

This is a short book 143 pages but she covers so much in such a short novel, it is truly amazing. She tells the story of a family in crisis, a typical family. It is character driven and the characters are wonderful.

This book was hard to find, I read it on line at archive.org, check it out.
I know if she had lived longer she would have written many more great books.
