Ginny Harrison wasn't ready for marriage so she left Seattle and Phil behind to live with her grandmother in the Wenatchee mountains of Washington, hoping to figure out what was missing in her relationship with Phil. There, she meets up-and-coming artist Kara Morgan, who is renting a cabin for the summer. An unlikely friendship develops between the two. Kara, a loner by nature, intends to spend the summer sketching and painting. Instead, she finds herself increasingly attracted to the younger woman. Ginny, too, is drawn to the quiet artist and finds her thoughts moving in an entirely different direction than friendship. She finally finds what's been missing in her life.
Gerri began writing lesbian romance as a way to amuse herself while snowed in one winter in the mountains of Colorado, and hasn’t looked back. Her first published work came in 2000 with One Summer Night. Many more romances have followed, with the occasional murder mystery in the mix. Gerri’s love of nature and of being outdoors usually makes its way into her stories as her characters often find themselves in beautiful natural settings. When she isn’t writing, Gerri and her longtime partner, Diane, can be found at their home in East Texas, where their vegetable garden, orchard, and five acres of woods keep them busy. They share their lives with an ever-changing cast of furry friends. Her favorite pastimes include camping, hiking, birdwatching (though she insists she doesn’t wear funny hats yet!), photography, and cooking. She collects things nature offers, like an unusual pinecone, colorful rocks, or an abandoned bird feather. Dawn is her favorite time of day, the moment right before sunrise... "I love the morning... the beginning of a brand new day. Because even things that we know are unattainable flutter within our grasp. In the early morning—at that cusp of a new day—everything is possible."
This was an online fan fic that is super old. I really like Gerri Hill's romance books, though. They're solid and I always know I'm going to feel nice when I'm done.
Where do you go to reflect and find out who you are and what you need? Wenatchee mountains of Washington and hang out with your grandmother. I enjoyed this story as Ginny dealt with her internal struggles and her desire to maintain her relationship with her grandmother. I found Kara interesting and likable as she interacts with Ginny realizing they enjoy each other's company.
AWESOME!!!! FREAKING PHIL. I WISH THERE WAS MORE ABOUT MARSHAL. I LIKED HER HUMOR. BUT THIS WAS REALLY GOOD, APART FROM THE WHOLE GINNY-PHIL SEX… LIKE EEWW!!!
In this book you will find all the elements you look for when reading a romance novel: love, sex and drama … everything livened up with the sexual awakening of a straight girl…
A classic Gerri Hill that feels too familiar if you've read others. Artist? check. Vegetarian? check. Difficulty to admit one's homosexuality? Meddling old lady? check.
Love it!! It's a hidden gem, I thought I read all of Gerri's books but I found this one missing! absolutely wonderful and remind's me so much of the relationship I have in my life :)
