Environmental Law and Policy

The authors provide a broad conceptual overview of environmental law while also explaining the major statutes and cases. The first part of the book discusses the major themes and issues that cross-cut environmental law. The second part of the book examines the substance of environmental law, with separate sections on each of the major statutes. International issues such as ozone depletion, climate change, and transboundary waste disposal are also addressed. These chapters build on the conceptual framework in the first part of the text to integrate the discussion of individual statutes into a broad portrait of the law.

At times very detailed but it was really thorough and covered the major regulations and issues (including ethical ones) regarding the environment. Had some helpful suggestions to approaching the various environmental concerns such as: waste management, toxic substances, and polluted air and water, among other things. Excellent for the course I am teaching in the Public Policy program as it presented cases and statutes as well as good discussion notes and questions throughout.

This was a textbook for my PS 320 class. I enjoyed how thorough the textbook is in every act and SCUS case. Each chapter is hefty in material with little fluff—it was very much appreciated. The index is categorized and was a godsend for my assessments in that class. I highly recommend students use it to locate relevant information faster.The CWA section was what I wrote my 22 page paper on for PS 320, in relation to the Duke Coal Ash situation. A great read for a Poli sci major.

A wonderfully written book. It was jargony and dense, it was meant for the everyday person's comprehension.
