The year is 3032 and mankind has expanded far beyond Earth’s galaxy. Matilda Dulac is a member of the Galactic Mining Guild. With her lover, Marc Slatterly, she works in a small mining ship in deep space. Their well ordered life if suddenly thrown into chaos when one miner arrives with a load of Trimagnite, a highly toxic liquid ore. Enter the Lone Wolf. Wil VanLipsig, known as the Lone Wolf, arrives to take the Trigmagnite off their hands. Is it a coincidence for him to show up on Marc’s ship years after Marc thought he’d killed Wil? Or is this the beginning of something far more insidious? The Lone Wolf is book in a new science fiction series by Dellani Oakes.

Set in distant future, Dellani Oakes’ Lone Wolf combines space flight, mining guilds, treachery and romance into an exciting action adventure with sensual and mystical overtones. Backstories are woven very naturally into the tale, with motivations and identities slowly clarified. The aliens are pleasingly exotic, genuine characters rather than just strange-shaped caricatures. And the mysteriously powerful Lone Wolf is a pleasingly flawed hero, trying to do his best while the past catches up with him and the present world tries to outwit him.
The story’s told with nicely personable humor, clever dialog, enjoyable descriptions that fit well into the characters’ points of view, and a certain characteristic pre-occupation with sexuality . High-octane danger, science that’s sketchily clever enough to be convincing, and a plot that lets the reader guess solutions almost in time and in tune with the protagonists, all combine to make this a thoroughly enjoyable sci-fi romance, with just enough of both to keep fans of both genres happy.
I kind of wished the story had ended a page or two before it did. There’s a natural conclusion, but a final few scenes promise a truly intriguing sequel which I will definitely have to read.
Disclosure: I was lucky enough to get a free ecopy of this novel through a book club.

Dellani Oakes has penned an intriguing and action packed deep space adventure that is hard to put down. This reader went through the book from cover to cover in one day as she was unable to stop reading. I give the story five stars for an exciting plot, great comic relief, and exceptional steamy romance. I recommend the book to sci-fi fans everywhere and anxiously await the sequel.
An incredible intergalactic thrill ride filled with romance, danger, and adventure! Loved it! Dellani Oakes has a talent for creating bold characters who step out of the pages with style! Marc definitely holds his own in the midst of chaos, knowing when to let go of the past and when to face opposition head on. Wil is sexy, charismatic, and intelligent; the ultimate alpha-male. Yum! Matilda is the perfect strong-willed match for this untamed "Lone Wolf." Captain Romance is right! Plenty of steamy scenes here! Toss in a revenge hungry madman hellbent on making Wil pay for sins of the past and this book is the perfect recipe for a wild ride that leaps to the ends of the galaxy and beyond!
Dellani Oakes, has written a brilliant, romantic, science fiction, thriller. Set in the year 3032, this is one book you don’t want to miss. Wilhelm VanLispig (Lone Wolf) is a devilish rogue, sure to turn your eye, and melt your heart, if you are a female, but if you are a male, you may want to run as fast and as far as you are able.
Matilda Dulac a strong, beautiful, heroine is every bit the match for the Lone Wolf. The world Ms. Oakes creates is full of mystery and mayhem. Please, hold on to the seat of your pants, for this book holds surprises that will leave you begging for more.
Being neither a fan of science fiction nor action/drama writing, I was delightfully surprised to find this a very enjoyable book. The characters have style and the scifi was creative. I did think that there was too much preoccupation with sexuality; not that I don't enjoy sex in my books, but that I felt it was overused as a motif.
Get ready for a superb ride into the future. Mining the huge vacant planets is a necessity for the minerals and metals that the civilized world needs and the universe now has a Mining Guild that controls the ships and the extraction of ore. Jealousy, control, revenge, and more are all part of the hidden emotions of some the characters. Then there are the enhance humans, the hidden elderly couple that introduce a paranormal element, and a spaceship that was loaded to disintegrate if the devices are not located or wires untangled. Different races join the struggle Will the Lone Wolf and his new mate survive? If they survive, what will happen on this new planet?
Action, Adventure, Romance, Mystery, Danger and Bold Characters! This story had them all. I am eagerly anticipating the next in this new series by a new to me author
