I think this would be fine for 8& up, not 11&up. I read it to my high schooler and he already knew most everything in it, but I liked it as a review of all the disciplines of science before we delve more deeply into each one again.
I read this to my boys this year as an introduction to some of the different types of sciences. It was a perfect fit for their ages—mainly for the 11 year old, but the 7 year old always tags along. The dialogue makes it easy to read and enjoyable. If the book shared an idea for an experiment we would do it, and I would have them put an entry in their science notebooks. It fit nicely as a Year 5 read.
