It might be a dream, but Norm soon finds that things go from bad to worse - when his perfect cousins arrive for a walk. If there was one thing worse than spending time with his perfect cousins it was being forced to go on a flipping walk with them! What's the point in going for a walk - except to get from A to B?!
Jonathan Meres follows up May Contain Nuts with another laugh-out-loud story about Norm, a boy who can't understand why everything always seems unfair...
An award-winning, laugh-out-loud series for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and David Walliams.
I have seen this series being called "The British Diary of a Wimpy Kid." I can see why but also (based on this and not having read the first book in the series) I don't rate this as highly.
There are differences. Norm isn't as likeable as Greg. He also complains a lot more. There are similarities. Particularly in the supporting cast.
At no point is this a terrible read. It is just a lot harder to get invested in like you can in Jeff Kinney's series. It also doesn't have as good illustrations. I also felt that the story moved too slowly.
I won't rule out reading more of this series. There is a chance I picked the wrong book to start it on. I don't recommend that anyone reads this series or that anyone avoids it. It didn't make me emote either way.
The World Of Norm 2, what can I say. This book is defiantly the most boring story I have ever read. It starts of with Norm (the main character) having a dream where he thinks that he is in a supermarket totally naked! When he wakes up he moans about not having enough money to buy a new mobile phone. So at this point in a normal or at least interesting book, you would think he would go on an epic adventure, or make money by selling cookies or lemonade. But no, he just complains how he does not have money and almost kills a dog! I still wonder sometimes about why i read this crappy book in the first place.
Norm is a 12 year old boy (almost 13). He thinks the world i unfair because his parents are weird and his brothers are annoying. He meets this girl called Chelsea and they see each other every Sunday but when his brother give her a photo of Mikey and him (Mikey - best friend) when they were toddlers naked on the beach, Norman tries to find a way of get payback to his brothers by taking their new dog aways form them and hiding him with the help of his perfect cousin.
My review: I think this book is really interesting and I am still reading the whole series as I am now on book 3. I hope you guys read it too as it is really packed with excitement. This book is for 8-12 yrs old.
Don't forget "The world of Norm - May contain nuts (1)."
The world of Norm, may cause irritation is the English version of diary of a wimp kid. Norm is a 13 year old boy, who like many 13 years believe he is right about everything. Very funny in places and full of toilet humor, text is engaging with drawings and different fronts used in places. A very easy read would be good for Key stage 2 and high achieving key stage one. A very good book to encourage boys to read. I would be careful reading this out in a class, I think it would depend on the class due to the silly references to poo!
Gosh you have to love Norm and his world - what a hilarious series that makes you wander around saying Gordon flipping Bennett and Shut up Brian you freak. Such a gold mine of entertainment, and never has such a clueless, self absorbed teenage boy been so endearing as our Norm. Norm you have won me over - keep on going and keep on winning me with more of your adventures and yes shut up Brian you freak.
When i found the book, I thought it was going to be like Diary of a Wimpy kid, but it was a whole different story. It was like i was there in a weird way . The dad was saying stuff like he was to you, in my opinion . The one thing I didn't like that they said flipping a lot. That's the main thing .
MADE ME LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The second book in The World of Norm series doesn't bring anything new to the story. It starts off right where the last one stopped, and the action is rather slow. The same characters are solving the same problems, nothing new or exciting really happens. Frankly, I was disappointed cause the first book felt promising. But in trying to replicate Diary of a wimpy kid, Meres neglected to write his own story.
