Drawn from Neville Goddard's own mystical illumination, this book reveals the truth buried within the stories of the old and new testaments alike.
Briefly, the book states that consciousness is the one and only reality, that consciousness is the cause and manifestation is the effect. It draws the reader’s attention to this fact constantly, that the reader may always keep first things first.
Having laid the foundation that a change of consciousness is essential to bring about any change of expression, this book explains to the reader a dozen different ways to bring about such a change of consciousness.
This is a realistic and constructive principle that works. The revelation it contains, if applied, will set you free.
Neville Goddard was a writer, speaker and mystic. He taught various self-help methods for testing his own claim that the human imagination is omnificent, therefore God. He achieved popularity by reinterpreting the Bible and the poetry of William Blake.
"How would you feel if you were that which you desire to be?"
Neville is one of the greatest mystics of our world who's teachings never get old. His way of explaining complex spiritual ideas in simple words is astounding, especially for the time in which he wrote this (1942).
In Freedom For All he also included step-by-step instructions for a meditation to realise your desire.
Always open to any author with a fresh outlook on how to go about living your best life and Goddard, in his time, had his own way of taking on that task. After listening to his whole oeuvre I think the man makes some pretty untenable and ludicrous claims. A clear advocate of 'manifesting' or the law of assumption: "an assumption, though false, if persisted in, will harden into fact": wow, just wow and hell no, absolutely no. Goddard actually believes 'God' to be the human imagination; very William Blake-ean, not at all original. He goes on to interpret the bible as a kind of drama, or personifications of the different states of the human mind. Ok, I get that, that's pretty modern but again not really helpful; the identification with the stories is worthwhile enough. What the works of Goddard did bring me was the introduction to the broader 'New Thought' movement, organised in 1914 into the 'International New Thought Alliance'; a coming together of multiple strings of religious and philosphical thought drawing from various ancient sources in 19th century US. From wikipedia: "The contemporary New Thought movement is a loosely allied group of religious denominations, authors, philosophers, and individuals who share a set of beliefs concerning metaphysics, positive thinking, the law of attraction, healing, life force, creative visualization, and personal power." Very instructive to actually meet the long pedigree of current self-help literature.
This ranges from the unconscious and conscious, the nature of desires, the conscious forming the physical reality for each of us, the importance of silencing the mind, recognizing the unconscious, which is God, and healing to the psychological meanings of the Bible stories. It only takes three steps and faith to transform your mind as well as, your life. This is all understood using the Bible. This was insightful and mind-altering. Great work.
Absolutely loved reading this book. I read it in a single evening and find myself with significant and renewed respect for Neville Goddard, religion and the bible for that matter.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. A great book to read in an evening and a gift that frees you with knowing. I plan to share with a friend whom pastors and I'm certain it will be a blessing (freeing) as it was for me.
The way he teaches us to speak about the Bible is amazing. It's like unlearning everything that has been taught to you to learn the way it was meant to be and making it work the way it was intended. I love his mind.
Great read that encourages one to critically think about the power of the human mind. I highly recommend this book if you have interest in spiritual connections to the universe.
At this point I don’t know what else I can say about every single Neville book… other than this book contains formulas for creating anything in any universe so do with that what you will.
Neville continues where he left off with Your Faith Is Your Fortune. This book has an excellent chapter on meaning of God's name; the meaning of which is what Neville's main principle rests upon. Feeling is the secret of creation and he explains it through the popular characters Jacob and Esau of the bible.
The big takeaway from this book: Start with self, as your self concept changes, so do your desires as well as your world, he tells us.
