Although this is the 26th book in the series it shows no signs of slowing down. Ms. Force has find a way to keep her longest series entertaining ,exhilarating, family focus with realistic issues, comedic and just all time makes you smile while reading. This book premise is similar to #23
Blackout After Dark in that we get majority of the series characters dealing with the issue at hand the hurricane Ethel.
As with Blackout the main theme of the book is the "hurricane" but they are other things going on. They are many can I just say many characters who are expecting little ones and those who are going to be getting married and other characters that would they or wouldn't they get together. As always the camaraderie amongst family and friends is truly a touching thing. If only our world/country could be like Gansett where each individual make an effort to be the best version of themselves. We get a few new characters that will possible get their own book. Overall its always a pleasuring visiting the island.

Now I know why there was a family tree at the beginning of the book! There are just so many characters now that the book became tedious to read. I would have been okay with a mention of each family and how they dealt with the hurricane, but a chapter (or more) per group was way too much. I started skimming pages because I was bored...I'd read everything in earlier books, it seemed. The development of the relationship between Piper and Jack is basically a sub-storyline when my expectation was that it would be THE storyline. They deserved better...so did the reader. The first Marie Force book that disappointed me.

4.5⭐

Hurricane After Dark returns readers to Gansett Island for what is Ms Forces one hundredth published novel.

And to characters who genuinely feel like old friends.

As this ensemble cast find themselves facing a category three hurricane. Which is heading straight for them and the island they love. And although the main focus of this story is state trooper Jack and assistant manager of the Sand and Surf Hotel Piper. There are plenty of appearances from the rest including all of the McCarthy and Lawry families and their extended group of friends.

And with a couple of heart in your mouth moments as the islanders mount daring rescues, plenty of sweetness, humour and heat. Not to mention weddings, engagements and the odd pregnancy announcement or two!

This was a delightfully easy, entertaining and engaging read. And another great addition to a series I just can't stop reading.

Hurricane After Dark is the 26th book in author Marie Force’s still growing Gansett Island Series, which she has been adding to since her first book in the series Maid for Love was released in 2011. I’m unaware of any other contemporary romance series of its length. Unlike many of her faithful readers I have only recently discovered this author and have since had the pleasure of reading at least half of her books and totally enjoyed most of them. I have every intention of reading the rest. When this series first became available on K.U. I began binge reading it and ignored every other book in my TBR library until this was the only book in this series remaining TBR, only because I had to wait until it was released to read it. Which fortunately occurred only a couple of weeks after I finished Resilience After Dark. Force is IMHO a great story teller. What sets her apart from my other favorite contemporary romance authors besides the sheer volume of books in many of her series, is her willingness to leave no character from each of the earlier books in her series behind as she moves readers on to the next book in the series. For example, in this her 26th Gansett Island book, Maddie and Mac Jr. the protagonists from the first book in the series still have a major presence. In fact every couple from the 25 previous books at least gets a mention while many play roles in this story as Hurricane Ethel bears down on the island. As do most of the McCarthy and Lowery families this series is built around. Each story is like dropping in on a huge gathering of old friends. Although this book is billed as the love story between Piper, now the assistant manager of the Surf and Sand Hotel and Jack the Rhode Island State Police officer assigned to the island, their story is only a part of the book. IMHO it is no more Piper’s and Jack’s book than it is Jeff and Kelsey’s or Deacon’s and Julia’s or Finn’s and Chloe’s or David’s and Daisy’s whom all share the spotlight along with so many other characters we’ve come to know and love. This series has a large ensemble cast that keeps reappearing in each other’s stories. As with all the books in this series we have romance and angst and characters dealing with grief after the loss of a loved one. Force so often includes characters dealing with this grief and struggling to get on with their lives in so many of her books, I have to wonder what her personal experiences with the subject are? There’s some added suspense as the lives of a couple of the characters hang in the balance during the hurricane. And of course several of the couples enjoy “hurricane sex.” There’s also an engagement and a few surprise weddings in this one but no unexpected babies were born.

Returning to Gansett? Yes please. If you follow MF, you know this is a long running series and also her 100th published book. That is a huge milestone and this story more than delivers. We get to check in with so many on the island and off the island as they all deal with the hurricane and their concerns. I love this island and the community they have created. I am hard pressed to remember to think of any other book, series, or author who has my emotions working as hard as this story did! I laughed, I cried, I was happy for characters, and worried for others…in essence the town, the characters, and the events are vivid, well developed, and beyond captivating. I never can come up with my true favorite as each character and couple is so entertaining. After finishing this story I was thrilled with the happy endings for many couples, excited for the introduction to new couples and characters, and excited for the next story to catch up with characters who were injured or had major life changes in this story!

love Gansett

Marie Force’s 100th book doesn’t disappoint!! I love returning to Gansett Island, meeting new characters and reuniting with the rest of the wonderful inhabitants of the island. Set during a powerful hurricane, this book was a bit harrowing at times, but always filled with the special way these characters love and care for each other.

Marie Force always delivers. This story was about everyone in the Gansett Island series and how they were dealing with the upcoming hurricane Ethel. Not everyone was on the island, but even they were dealing with the storm because of their loved ones being in danger. This was such an amazing book. Marie has such a way of weaving all of the characters together.

I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put the book down. There was some new love, love from afar, storm damaged love... Everyone pulled together in a way that made me wish I lived there, even though it's a fictional place.

Thank you Marie.

It’s like catching up with friends and family!

Gansett Island Series is filled with everything I love about contemporary romances. The fact that there are 26 books in this series and every single one holds your attention and has you waiting for the next installment says it all! I love catching up with all the characters. After years of reading the books, I truly feel as if I know these characters and cannot wait for my next visit to Gansett!

Wow, just wow!! Book 100 was a gem. I love how each character got a chapter or two and it furthered the whole storyline of my old friends in Gansett. And introduced me to some new friends!! And just like real life some highs and some lows, some struggles and some successes. But so many babies and so many weddings!!!

Another hit

Fabulous book. Marie never disappoints. Every book I have read from her is fanominal. I always feel like I am right there in the story. I hope there is more with Jack and Piper as well. I am glad Duke and McKenzie are also getting a story. I can't wait for the next trip to Gannett Island.

'I'm not sure I'm prepared for you'

Ah! Piper and Jack have very dinted hearts and are wary but completely incapable of resisting the attraction they have. Piper amazes me with the understanding she shows Jack in his fight between his head and his heart, and the acceptance she has that she will always share his heart, but in the best way, proves just how amazing she is. She feels no threat from his past and is more than happy to help him remember and reminisce. So brave.
In true Gansett style a hurricane can never be as simple as evacuation and they have to face medical emergencies....again, loss of boats, collapsed buildings, no power, crushed vehicles and as always more love and family than anywhere else in the world. They face the stress, fear and heartbreak as one and they will rebuild, grieve and celebrate their lives as one too.

Too much going on in this book and skipped around too much! I normally finish in a day or two and it took me almost two weeks as I just couldn’t get into it .

Never fully engaged with the latest Gansett read. These whole cast books are just so/so. While it’s nice to catch up with the characters, it just gets repetitive. Only worth the time if you’re committed to the series.

I love author Marie Force, and I have really enjoyed this series (although her "Fatal" series is by far my favorite). That being said, I wasn't a fan of this book, and the 4 stars that I gave this book is due to my deep appreciation for the author, not the quality of this book.

There's nothing *wrong* with the book, per se, but this is the 26th book in this series, and only about 25% of this book tells the story of our main couple, leaving their characters and stories very thin and rather uninteresting. Another 15% or so is important story line happening with other characters (in particular, a couple of main characters experience some significant trauma in the hurricane, etc).

That leaves about 60% of the book that is spent reintroducing characters, reviewing their stories from previous books, and reminding the readers of how very happy they are... But not in a way that advances their stories (or this story) at all. The author refers to this as a "full cast" book, but I'm just not a fan. My TBR list has hundreds of books on it, and this didn't feel like a good use of my reading time. YMMV.

Series has become stale and repetitive. I don’t need to hear the same news through four sets of characters. It has gotten to the point where the main couple don’t even stand out anymore. Stop worrying about covering the 100 other couples and focus on the main couple.

Mein Fazit:
Von mir gibt es gern eine Leseempfehlung!

I finally got enough of a break in my ARC schedule to take a trip back to Gansett Island with Hurricane After Dark, Book 26 in the beloved Gansett Island Series by Marie Force! While there is a couple with significant focus, Jack and Piper, this book followed a similar format to that of Blackout After Dark (Book 23), which used an external disaster as a way to check in with multiple couples in one book. The hurricane in this case added an overarching element of suspense and drama that brought a ton of angst and emotion with it. I felt like my heart was being battered, as I sat on the edge of my seat worrying about these characters that feel like friends as a long time fan of the long-running series! The thing about the superb world building of this series is that the imagery of the island and the characters suck you in and make you part of it all. I teared up, I laughed, I worried, and I swooned. So much swooning.😍 To have all the amazing leading men in one book sweeping their ladies off their feet all over again? It’s almost too much!😂 I really enjoyed Piper and Jack, but his story was one of those emotional ones! But my favorite thing about Gansett is how everyone comes together, no matter what twists or surprises befall them. Whether it’s tough times or fun times the camaraderie of this world cannot be beat. From the original McCarthy family to new characters just arriving, everyone is compelling and interesting. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I know starting such a long series can seem daunting, but I wholeheartedly recommend this one. It’s currently available in Kindle Unlimited, if you have that!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This amazing community rallies once again and brought me to tears (the good ones of course!)
Hurricane After Dark (Gansett Island Series Book 26) by Marie Force once again gathers readers into its warm, welcoming embrace. There is so much love within the pages of this book (and every book in the series), that it feels like every character is your own family.
While Piper and Jack are taking a chance with their hearts, this book also takes the reader on a journey across the whole island and into many beloved character’s present.
I loved this book for so many reasons! Exciting from how weathering this Hurricane looked for so many different perspectives. The ending result of many different experiences, some really awesome, some eternally grateful, some anxiety-filled and extremely worrisome, a bit of heartache and yet even more reasons to love this wonderful community this prolific author has dreamed up for all of her fans to enjoy!
Overall, not even a Hurricane and derail the eternal positive spirit of Gansett Island and all her hardy residents! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll despair, you’ll celebrate! If you have never read a book by this author, you can start anywhere in the series, but it’s such an awesome thrill, each book is an absolute stunner, leaving the reader with the happiest HEA high.

Returning to Gansett Island for the 26th time and the fact we are still getting entertaining and captivated shows us how very talented Marie Force is and what a wonderful series Gansett Island is. This is Ms Force’s 100th published book and the fact she took back to Gansett also tells us how special this series is to her as well as us.
Hurricane After Dark has all the feels and once again I found myself giving up on real day to day life as I joined the residents who I have come to love live through another terrifying night on the island.
I knew I was reading something very special but it was only after I had read the final word and this story and the characters where still in my head and my heart that I realised just how special this book was. It was great to catch up with the life’s of previous residents that I have come to love but it was meeting new residents to Gansett that took us to another level. Looking forward to what’s to come from one of my all time favourite series from one of my go to authors. If you haven’t read this series, why not !!!!!!

Love me a bit of Gansett the island we all want to live!! Loved this story from beginning to end and loved the start of Piper & Jacks love story this was just perfect and love these two together. Always good to catch up with the residents and never more so in a crisis. I love that we got some new characters too and can't wait to see what Marie has in store for them. I love Mac & Maddie so a trip to the island wouldn't be complete without some time with them and i love how there relationship just gets stronger with every book and that they are in everything together no matter what. Shout out to David, he went and did it again he had turned into one of my favourite characters which you wouldn't of though back in book 2 but that's the Marie magic. I won't spoil it for anyone who is yet to read but that ending boy we have some fun times to come i can just see it. Well done Marie another amazing story.

I honestly consider every Gansett book a visit with old friends and family! Ever since I read Maid for Love I’ve loved the group on Gansett, and these full cast books are amazing.

Imagine being on a small island with a hurricane heading straight for you… this is the premise of Hurricane After Dark, and as someone that lives not far from Rhode Island, and on an island, I understand a lot of the concerns these people are facing. Let’s face it, in the Northeast we have Nor’easter s, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, Mother Nature has it in for us, but we persevere. I don’t live in a place exactly like Gansett, we have a much larger infrastructure, more help and bridges to the mainland, but hurricanes are a unique beast.

This story visits most, if not all, of the Gansett couples, with updates as Ethel comes towards them. That being said, it’s a Marie Force story, so of course there’s, love, adventure and drama… so literally batten down the hatches and be ready for a ride.

First off, I LOVE the Gansett Island Series. I love the personalities of the characters, and I was very excited when I realized this had been released.
With that being said, I was disappointed with this book. In my eyes it jumped around too much without much story line other than many recounts of previous story lines. You really did not get to see much more than a very small glimpse of the personalities of characters I have grown to love. In the previous stories I was able to laugh with (and sometimes at) the characters. That was not the case in for me with this story. I do realize there was more seriousness with there being a hurricane, but even with the seriousness when Big Mac had been injured, or the boys in the boat crash there was more times you could laugh and see the personalities come to life.
It was okay, just not my favorite Gansett story. I am still looking forward to the next installment though. :)

Mark this one down as another winner in this series. I have said since Netflix became a thing, that this series would make a wonderful Netflix series. You can just see the scenes unfolding as you read. This book had my emotions rolling. I teared up so many times while reading. I also smiled, giggled, and just felt the love in every section of the book. I cannot wait until the next book. I think what I love the most is that the books in the series don't focus on one particular couple, but we get to see all of our favorite couples from past books going about their daily lives and troubles. Yes, there is usually a new couple and their love story introduced, but you feel like you are right there with the other couples rooting on their lives. Many points of view. No cliffhanger...well maybe a bit of a question type cliffhanger to see what is really going on...but so worth it.

Nonstop Romance & Adventure!

Everything we love about our Gansett Island FAMILY and more! I had to actually put my Kindle down and leave it sit so I wouldn’t devour in one sitting. It’s THAT GOOD!

I hope this Series never ends (looking at you Vermont, I still miss you!)

Looking forward to the next Series as teased at the final paragraph and having a steady supply of Marie Force in the near future.

One note: there was a mention of a Honeymoon in Paris for one couple. I’m REALLY hoping this is featured as I’ve always been in love w the idea of Paris. I know I will never get there myself, but I would love to experience it through Marie’s wonderful storytelling!

I’ve just decided to go back and reread this entire series. Each and every story and couple have been delightful.

Thank you Marie!
