WARNING: A lot of typing mistakes ahead because me, my (I had to google it) dyslexia, and fast typing in anger do NOT get along.

I’m fuming madly at this book. 2022 is truly TRYING ME in the book department. It’s starting to make me sound like a broken record, but honestly, what are these books?

Let’s commence this horror symphony.

First, I did not care for the way Crew talked to Wren or about girls in general. Rude, misogynistic—he made me disgusted with him instead of making me like him.

It did not improve throughout the book. In fact, I’m pretty sure all Crew and Wren had was sexual chemistry based on him being “bad” and her being untouched so he could “corrupt her.” 🤮

Chemistry? Nope.

Respect for one another? Only when convenient.

Love? The nightmarish kind I would not wish upon my worst enemy.

I adore the bad boy trope, but Crew was not a bad boy… he was a worm. Actually, not even that, because worms are integral to the ecosystem, serving a purpose in soil renewal and nutrients. Crew cannot even attest to being as useful as that.

Then there was the whole situation with Wren, who was smart enough to read all the red flags from her teacher, to see that her “friend” was clearly involved with him—only to do NOTHING?! The goody two-shoes who was outspoken about misdeeds? Give me a break!

There was this quote too:

“I’m attracted to her. When does respect ever come into that equation for me? Not like I degrade girls for sport, but they’re just… there. To talk to and to kiss and to fuck.
That’s it.”

What is super sad about this? I have heard plenty of people of the opposite sex refer to women like this… 😐

Lovely literature right there. Especially when he proceeds to call someone else a misogynist after a few chapters of related thoughts.

ASSAULT SOUNDS WONDERFUL, CREW. THAT IS DEFINITELY HOW YOU GET THE GIRL. HOW NOT TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR POTHEAD HABITS. 💪🏻 CLEARLY, THEY LEFT YOU WITHOUT A SINGLE BRAIN CELL OR ANY LIKABLE QUALITY IN YOUR BODY.

(As someone who had her butt grabbed and held onto for the exact same reason, that was… traumatizing to read. Especially when the author made it seem like it was okay because she was into it… 💀💀💀)

Not the author trying to redeem Crew by having him threaten to end a girl’s life for the same terrible behavior he partakes in. 🤡

All the boys in this book are scum and cannot be redeemed. If the author had made that clear instead of making excuses, or had them owning up to their actions… I would still have thrown the book into the fire, but I would not have jumped on the remaining skeleton of it just to make sure it was completely destroyed.

Who am I kidding? I would definitely have done that too, no matter what.

what we're not gonna do is have a hero constantly remark upon a heroine's virginity. i mean sure she herself uses that as one of her main character traits. but his obsession with her untouched hole mixed with the commentary on her "little girl shoes and hair bow" gave me an ick that sent me clear into another dimension.

also the creepy teacher that came in on like page 10 was KNOWN by almost everyone in the school to be a creep and no one did anything about it??? hard pass.

this book is the biggest wtf i’ve ever experienced in my whole life. it just kept getting worse. honestly, it’s gonna be very hard to describe how much i hate this book and its characters, it was just awful, and i don’t know how i finished it tbh. at the end i wanted to dnf so bad, but i didn’t because i had like 100 pages back, which still seemed like an eternity. i mean i didn’t expect it to be good, but i didn’t expect it to be that bad either. if you want to buy this book, buy it for the cover and please do yourself a favor and never open the book <3

this girl pissed me tf off. she was so fucking annoying, the only think i liked about her was her mother. she constantly complained about having big breasts and curves, poor wren i’m so sorry you were born with a body like kylie jenner, that must be so horrible… (off topic but kylie is actually so gorgeous). gosh don’t even get me started on the way she thought sex was a crime and the proceeded to get fucked with an UN-wrapped lollipop ew, ew, ew, i’m actually gonna throw up. she was also this sweet and innocent girl, but when crew touched her lips with his thumb for a literal second, she went home, masturbated and watched pornography wtf is wrong with this girl ? genuine question wren was acting like she finally took control of her life, and became this total badass, but really she was just doing everything crew told her to do, and having sex.

*sigh* this fucking guy was portrayed as this “bad boy” who ended up falling for this sweet, innocent girl. but really, he was just an ass, and she just had no self-respect. this guy was manipulating her on some next level shit, and she was just completely oblivious. this dude was all “you can say no, i won’t push you to do anything you don’t want to do” and the proceeds to exactly that. he just wanted her to feel like she had the last say, so she felt like she was the one in control, he was honestly just a pathetic, horny little bitch, who wanted the girl no one could get. and the first time they had sex, he just pushed all the way into her, and then he came i was crying laughing at that scene, oh my the second-hand embarrassment hit me like a big fat fist in the face !

i could write a whole book about how much i hate every single character in this book, and istg it would still be more interesting than this book. every single character in this book was actually insufferable. the only character i kind of liked was wren’s mom. the rest ? i absolutely despised. wren’s dad was a fucking creep ! he kept logging into wren’s icloud to see if she had taken more dirty pictures of her and crew (not of them actually having sex, but wren kissing crew’s upper body with red lipstick) still absolutely disgusting tho ! and their history teacher ? he was a podophile. what the actual fuck is going on in this book ? i’m actually beyond traumatized.
 
the smut in this book was actually disgusting ! i mean personally i can work with a gun i’m not the one to blame for that btw, it’s zade’s fault, but a fucking lollipop ? nah, nope, no, nuh, noh. and the sad part is that lollipops were my whole childhood, and now i’ll never be able to look at one again, let alone eat one, just the thought of one makes me wanna throw up. when i finished reading that scene, i was staring at my wall for a full 20 minutes, and i’m actually not joking ! and thinking about these characters being 18 years old, idk it feels wired and disgusting sorry not sorry.
 
side note to the lollipop scene; have y’all ever watched riverdale (that series on netflix) ? because the only thing going through my head besides disgust, was that ringtone on betty’s phone when the serial killer / her dad, called her. please tell me i’m not the only one.
 
i’ve only read two of monica murphy’s books and that is “things i wanted to say, but never did” and then this one, i absolutely hated both. so i’m giving up on her books for now forever.

honestly, this book just wasn’t for me. it all felt wrong and wired to me, and it was actually impossible for me to find any cute moments, because i hated the mc’s, therefore it was very hard to find anything involving them cute.

Let me just say I wanted to love this book. I really did. It was one of my most anticipated releases this year and turns out I was so hyped for nothing at all.

I’ve noticed this pattern with all of Monica Murphy's books (I’ve read 2 but okay) and it’s the sexism and misogyny.

All of her hero’s always have this “grumpy” shitty attitude that acts as an excuse for their disgusting acts and let them get away with it when they do something cheesy and “romantic” for the heroine after doing the worst things a person can do to her.
It’s not attractive at all I can assure you that.

“Better not. We can’t afford to get in trouble this late in the game. It’s zero tolerance here, baby.” I give her breast a gentle squeeze and a whimper escapes her.”

aw wow, he just groped her and she liked it what? that was so romantic aw <3

keep in mind this all happened in the first 5-10 chapters. I love a dark romance but there is a limit to everything. I don’t think I’ll be reading another Monica Murphy book anytime sooner. Her books can burn unless she learns how to write a normal hero that will actually have a limit and not act like a fucking animal just because he’s rich, big and broody with daddy issues.

this book brings women's rights back several years.

i went back and forth whether it was worth the brain cells to write this review, but somehow i saw 3 recommendations for it in an hour on my explore page...so here we are!

it's also the last day of the year, and we're leaving all our negative energy back in 2022 and that includes this. freaking. book.

the few posts i've seen have romanticized this book for being a "fun good girl x bad boy romance” with the added bonus of a boarding school setting and overall rich kid energy.

in reality, you get the cringiest...no *creepiest* romance?? between our two main characters, wren and crew.

wren’s entire personality is being a virgin. she is a high school girl who is infantilized by everyone around her, and the author intentionally slut shames every other girl to get this point across.

crew wants to be an alpha male so bad…he’s 5 seconds away from turning into a werewolf. his obsession with wren is all centered around wanting to “corrupt” her…WHAT.

the romance between the two is not healthy, and it baffles me that this book is starting to trend amongst teens and be pitched as a spicy rom-com.

also, if a boy ever tries to shove a lollipop into your vagina, RUN. preferably to a therapist or police station. it is not sexy…it is a bacteria infection waiting to happen.

and let’s not forget that one of the teachers at this prestigious boarding school is a known pedo/phile, yet no one does anything about it??

i don’t even know when to stop pointing out the red flags bc this whole book is little red riding hood. let’s stop romanticizing toxic relationships (and books) in 2023.

I genuinely thought I would hate this because of the way the first book turned out and Taz repeatedly telling me this book is shit💀 but I’m so glad I enjoyed this one.

It was ridiculously unserious but also cute as fuck at the same time. I had fun and that’s the only thing I look for in books.

Crew was hilarious plsss he would say something in retort to Wren and I’d be creasing like sir u weren’t supposed to be that funny?! But omg he was the most adorable fucker KAHDJDHD I just loved to see him try so hard and always chase after her- it was so yummy.

The class project partners trope will forever be my kryptonite. I ate it uppp.

Him pining for her since the moment he saw her was standard but when he went all out with her bday/Christmas gifts????? My material girl heart grew ten sizes 🥹🥹 he def won me over by the end. The fact that he never gave up made me love him more. He took her leaving as incentive to prove himself to her and I loveeddddd this.

Wren was cute. I liked her growth in confidence but she was a bit stupid sometimes. I liked that she added the art aspect to it but didn’t make it her whole personality. The whole thing with her being a virgin and then losing it was basically the point of this book. It’s obviously gna be repeated a lot which I was prepared for, so it didn’t really annoy me.

One more thing that I liked about the book was that there wasn’t the regular third act breakup structure we usually see. There were ups and downs throughout. It kept me entertained for sure.

But the reason it lost a star is because the whole plot with the teacher put me off so bad. I literally couldn’t gaf about him?? And then when it got resolved quickly I was just like. . . 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️ what was the need? Why did it have to be included in the first place?? It made the book unnecessarily longer that it needed to be.

And the thing with the dad was so annoying. I’m glad the author didn’t make the mum the villain as well, I liked her redemption arc.

I can’t wait to read about his sister?? Her story sounds pretty good…

Also I usually change the characters hair to dark brown/black if I’m told they’re blonde but for crew I let it slide. He has the personality to make it work. And he’s a hotttt blonde omg never thought I’d see the day 🤧

And no I’m not gna talk about the lolly jump scare ✋

I am definitely a person who is known for making stupid decisions, but reading this book was definitely one of the worst i've ever made 😃 I would love to go back in time and slap some sense into my past self- but i can't, so here we are 🥰🥰

A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime follows Wren and Crew, who both attend the same fancy prep school- Lancaster Prep. Wren is the most innocent girl on campus and the only virgin left in the senior class, while Crew is a brooding bad boy. They are complete opposites. But when they are paired up for a project, Crew is undeniably drawn to Wren- and he will do anything to make her his.

“A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime. That’s what I want. I want someone to promise me a million kisses and more.”

This is going to be a very salty review, so pls bear with me. If you loved this book, i'm so happy for you, but unfortunately i did not 💌

Starting with the characters! ✨️ I absolutely despised them 😃 Idk how you're supposed to root for them and i would not be upset if any of them fell out the window of their fancy school 🥰🥰

he was literally SUCH AN ASSHOLE 🔫🔫 this is the man we're supposed to fall in love with?? really??? 🤨🤨 reading his inner monologue was like stabbing tiny needles into my eyes- literally all he thought about was wren's body and it felt like he was manipulating her to have sex with him the whole time. and don't even get me started on the way she was a virgin and he wanted to 'corrupt' her- NO. IMMEDIATE NO ✋️

he really felt like he was written by a man... 🫠

okay why was she literally so annoying?! 🙈🙈 I didn't hate her with a passion like I did Crew, but she pissed me off sm the whole time. Like, her being so innocent and pure at the beginning and acting like the world was ending when someone swore?? girl be so fr 😤😤

I also absolutely hated the attitude towards women in this book- all the men were such disgusting pigs and treated women like objects to have sex with and then discard 🤢🤢 The blatant misogyny made me want to toss the book out of the window. And the fact that this was also written by a woman?! JAIL 🔫🔫

➵ Wren & Crew:

If this is supposed to be a good romance.... what even is society coming to today 🫠🫠 The relationship between crew and wren felt purely physical and the way it kept bringing up how wren was a virgin and crew was such a BAD boy- pls make it stop. And the lollipop scene- ew ew ew ew EW 🤢🤢🤢 That is not hot, that is the way to get an infection. but who says romance is dead right??? 😍😍

The ONLY redeeming qualities about this book and the reasons it's getting an extra 0.5 star was that it was super addictive, the chanel lipstick scene and the epilogue. That's it.

this is actually a dnf, i made it like barely a chapter in but it was just so fucking corny like the fact that she was new but every girl wanted to be her even the other girls like when she was a freshman the senior girls loved her. thought she was shy and quite was weird and unrealistic as fuck but what REALLY had me dnf was the MALE love interest talking about how she’s a virgin (why does he know) and that she was the only girl left in their grade… unrealistic but okay. i hate reading ku books with dual pov’s because they make the men SO FUCKING CORNY!! like idk how men think but i know it’s not how these authors write them. i don’t think bully romances set in high school are for me anymore which makes me so sad because they just are so corny and i am just growing out of them as i get older

Sometimes you just need a good drama filled, angsty teenage romance about a bunch of rich kids in a boarding school.

Was Wren way too naive and prude for my liking at the beginning of this book? Definitely. Did I have to get over it and force myself to not let her entire personality bother me? 100% - but you know what? It was worth it —- At first i really didn’t like her, but as the story went on and she started thinking for herself, making her own decisions and doing what she wanted to do - I started liking her more and more and I definitely enjoyed seeing her character develop the way it did.

But let me be clear - I loved this book because of Crew Lancaster. That man… I have no words. The way he was so respectful to her (most of the time), the way he was so freakin patient - literally everything about him! I was not expecting him to be that way and I was definitely surprised in the best possible way!

I also absolutely loved the way it all wrapped up - there was no horrible conflict at the end and I can’t even begin to explain how greatful I was for that… it was one of those endings that just got better and better instead of better, then a quick worse, then better again.

Was this book perfect? No. Was it longer than it needed to be? Possibly. But was it entertaining, super steamy, made me keep wanting to flip the page and added a new book boyfriend to my roster? Definitely.

From the beginning all the way to the very end, this book had me hooked. I'll always be down to read the good girl x bad boy trope and this one did not miss. The thing I love most about this trope is the fact that these characters are more similar than they think. This applies to Wren and Crew as well. I love how Monica Murphy walks us through the character development between these two and that she wrote them in a way that tells us that they bring out the absolute best in each other.

The characters, the storyline, the spice and everything in between was executed beautifully. I think what everyone will enjoy the most is how the author brings the title of the book into play. It was one of my favourite scenes and I hope someone appreciates it as much as I did! The virginity of the female lead was one of my concerns before reading. I was wary about how it would be handled—whether she'd give it away to the first boy she sees or whether she'd be heavily pressured into it but after meeting Crew, my doubts just flew out the window.

Crew literally has me on a chokehold. The way he's so arrogant (rightly so), reassuring and just so devoted to his little 'birdy' makes me want to go Crew hunting—he's a romantic despite his protests. Not to mention, his skills in bed. Ya'll- you aren't ready for him. You think you are but trust me, you're not.
Side note - Can we appreciate how beautiful this cover is?

PROS: ̶c̶r̶e̶w̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶h̶u̶g̶e̶ I meant the characters and their development. Really beautifully written.
CONS: I wasn't particularly comfortable about the ring scene. I won't go into much detail but I feel like he initially treated it as a trophy and I wasn't a fan of that. However, his later dialogue (at least, for me) made up for it.
FINAL THOUGHTS: If you aren't running to read this right now, what are you doing? I'm so glad this is the first work of hers that I've read because I cannot wait to read more!!
