I'm a Scottish writer, now living in Canada, with more than thirty novels published in the genre press and over 300 short story credits in thirteen countries.
My work has appeared in a number of professional anthologies and I have recent short story sales to NATURE Futures and Galaxy's Edge. When I'm not writing I play guitar, drink beer and dream of fortune and glory.
Another fast-paced creature feature, as we follow Wiggo, Banks and a rather small team into the frozen North to rescue a team of researchers. This time, the immediate problem is Bears of Unusual Size. There’s no mystical/supernatural element (that I noticed).
In comparison to previous books in the series, the cast of characters here is relatively small, giving the story a more intimate feel. I do like Wiggo as a viewpoint character :) It was fun seeing the team sneak around and improvise to get out of various scrapes.
Another solid creature feature. I’m looking forward to the next one already.
You can always rely on William Meikle to give great adventure. It's another S-Squad story of the special forces and monsters. I liked the shading to the characters but I didn't like the repeat of the (Russian super villain produced) remote control monster animals as the threat. I fear that there's more of them to come. It's ok but I prefer the cryptobiology or mystical monster stories.
The team are despatched to the North Pole, as a research hub goes dark. What they find is a destroyed camp, with only four survivors and some huge beasties. As well as the external issues, one of the team has his own internal problems to deal with. As usual good story from William, with S-Squad on top form.
A great read. Russians make great villains. I think they need to go to a warmer location next. Perhaps Spain or Cypress? Remember, they are still a few guys short. They need a woman soldier who can kill ass and make a better coffee. She needs to smoke a pipe too. Like Holmes. Thank you for the excitement is my life.
I never get tired of these stories. I love them all! Can't wait to see where thing goes with Wiggo and how the squad with evolve with this recent loss taking place. The characters are so unique that I can't imagine who will join next to fill the open position...maybe a woman soldier? Carry on Sir Meikle... On to the next adventure full of beasties
I love these series of books. So much action and suspense , it keeps you right on the edge of your seat. The squad is a great cast of characters, the series wouldn't be the same without them. Great book and I recommend reading this.
A really great book. Full of drama and action right up to the very end. This is an edge of your seat thriller. You want to read at warp speed to finish it It was that good. I enjoyed every single minute of this book
That's it. Pretty simple and straight forward. The squad faces off against giants polar bears. Great fun action and nothing super complicated. Loved it
