This book features a seventeen-year age gap, opposites attract, uncle’s best friend, steamy bi/gay romance, a male auction, beach dates, motorcycles, and a sweet HEA — so on paper, it definitely ticks a lot of fun boxes.
I read book one back in 2024 and it didn’t really leave much of an impression, but Raquel Riley has somehow been on my radar again lately, so I decided to give the series another shot.
Overall, it was… fine. Very basic, very familiar. This is the kind of story I’ve read countless times before, and here it felt a bit outdated, even for a 2023 release. There are a lot of well-worn clichés — the terrible exes (both women and men), hints of toxic masculinity, and an easy, predictable plot that never really surprises.
It’s not bad, just unremarkable. That said, I still find myself a little curious about the next books in the series, so I wouldn’t rule out continuing.
