Running Out: An Equestrian Romantic Suspense Series

Book Four in the “Impelled”

Three Years.

Lily Monroe’s best friend Emma Walker got married to her soulmate three years ago. That should have been enough time to forget what kissing Sam Gray that night felt like, or for the tension between them to subside. But apparently, that’s not the case.

Lily isn’t sure what’s worse, though. The way Sam acted after they kissed, or the fact that no one she’s dated since has compared to the connection she felt with Sam that night.

The pact she recently made in front of her best friends not to date until after graduation so she could focus on her final year of veterinary school is definitely going to keep her from making the mistake of ending up in yet another causal relationship going nowhere.

And it would have, too. That is, until the day she found a skinny, lame, thoroughbred mare named Eva who’s only hope of a second chance at life is in her hands.

Now, it seems Sam and her buried feelings for him are unavoidable as she spends more time at the barn he works at rehabilitating Eva and as she hunts down the people responsible for dumping the mare in the first place. Feelings she knows she shouldn’t have for Sam, no matter how magnetic her connection is to him.

Because Sam has some deep, dark secrets in his past that even his closest friends don’t know about. Secrets that seem to be the reason he can never be with her, or anyone else it seems, despite feelings he may or may not have for her too.
Secrets that, when revealed, will prove to be more dangerous and complex than Lily could have ever imagined.

Can love really conquer all with stakes this high?

Sarah Welk Baynum has an extensive equestrian background which became the inspiration behind her debut novel “Impelled.”

While writing her novels, Sarah draws from previous experience as a working student, show groom, barn manager, working for FarmVet and other various jobs in the horse industry over the years both in her hometown and in Wellington & Ocala, Florida. Sarah also attended Otterbein University and majored in Equine Business and Facility Management.

Sarah still owns horses and actively competes in show jumping and three-day eventing, and horses have been a big part of her life since the age of twelve. Her first horse may have been a gelding, but she has a bias for mares and has primarily owned mares throughout the years.

Besides writing equestrian novels, Sarah also writes articles for Sidelines Magazine.

When she isn’t writing or riding, Sarah also enjoys competing in local and national singing competitions, and mainly sings country music.

Today, Sarah lives in her hometown just outside of Columbus, Ohio, with her family which includes her husband, her two dogs, two cats and her two mares Tilly (a warmblood) and Letty (an off the track thoroughbred).

Would make a good Hallmark movie

Veterinary student Lily rescues an injured off-track TB ... That's the part I enjoyed reading. Then there's the romance part, suitable for junior high girls (G rated) and finally there is a little bit of mystery about Sam's past and a satisfying (if totally unrealistic) ending. Nice little horsey fantasy, if you like romance novels.

I loved this slow build barn romance! Plus the storyline of a horse being dumped at a farm. What? I’d never thought of something like this happening but it makes total sense. People dump dogs and cats, why not an injured horse?
As someone who rides horses off the track, the first ride jitters were so relatable as is the joy of successfully bringing a horse along. To make it more realistic she maybe needed a couple bad rides thrown in 🤣. Just one or two -oh crap I may die here - moments 🤣🤣🤣.
Such a great book and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Sara Welk Baynum

Enjoyable series

Nice, diverting series with equestrian appeal. Baynum infuses the stories with details that show her equestrian background and reveals their character unappealing way. A bit more attention to editing would remove a few speed bumps from her novels.

These are such clean exciting equestrian stories. Taking place in Ocala Florida in Wellington, Florida at the beautiful equestrian center. A great way to escape drudgery of life.
