Somehow, things spiraled out of control and the path to self-destruction seemed crystal clear. Kendrall “Kenny” Henderson had the perfect marriage until it wasn’t. While shying away from confrontation, his self-control slips from his grasp, and he falls… hard. Losing his wife and children is killing him slowly inside, but the responsibility of taking care of his son outside of their union is what keeps him sane. In the meantime, Kenny knows that he will never love another woman the way he loves his ex-wife, Keisha. Although he messed up royally, he refuses to give up on having her in his life once again, even though she hates him for what he did. While he could hate her for her omissions, he chooses to accept the blame and keeps his knowledge of her faults to himself.
Feelings of betrayal, anger, hurt, and embarrassment threaten to consume Keisha Henderson at every turn when it comes to her ex-husband, Kenny. His infidelities have taken a toll on her, and she does what any logical wife would do. She leaves, taking their two children with her. While she tries to harbor hatred in her heart for Kenny, it’s only an act. The man that first stole her heart, still has it. He just doesn’t know it. While he messed up completely, she knows that she isn’t blameless. Because of her indiscretions, she chooses to suffer in silence, wanting what she feels she no longer deserves. Instead of revealing this to Kenny, she chooses to take her frustrations and anger out on him.
Kenny and Keisha have a long road of co-parenting ahead of them. The push and pull is real between them, and Kenny’s fuse is lit at both ends, threatening an explosion, while Keisha continues to throw rocks from a glass house. Can they agree to forgive one another for the past for the sake of their children or will the structure of their relationship continue to crumble, eventually crushing everyone involved?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
Miss Monica, you did the damn thang again! I LOVE the Henderson's! Although Storm is still my favorite, Kenny crept right on up the list! I see you Kenny! 😃 I feel genuinely bad for Kenny being the “quiet” guy in a family full of boisterous people. He never felt like he fit in, so he was kind of left in limbo with his siblings. Then to feel unwanted and unloved by his wife, just pushed him over the edge. Keisha girl, I was pissed at Kenny on your behalf, and then for you to find out like that! Like what the hell? Who knew Kenny had it in him? Keisha brought out the savage in Kenny, and I was like hell yeah!! 😃 He bossed up on that ass, and I loved every minute of it! These two fought hard to get their love back, and that was a beautiful thing to see. Now, I just about lost it finding out about Kendrick! Why Tasha? Damn! Ole hatin' heifer! Although that was so heartbreaking to read, and I feel as though I felt Kenny's every emotion; it was written to perfection! This is one of the best ones yet! You never disappoint. Excellent job! 👍👍👍👍👍
Wheeeeewww! Where do I start!? Let me say, that I could not stand Kenny at first. Learning the rest of the story and what lead to him cheating cleared everything up & then I couldn’t stand Keisha 😂! My thoughts after finding out Keshia wasn’t innocent either and did her dirt for a L O N G time, “now why would she act and treat Kenny like scum at the bottom of the tub & dirt on the bottom of her shoe! The audacity!” I’m glad Kenny put Keshia in her place after a while, she was doing entirely too much. The fact that their love made it through all that spoke V O L U M E S! Baybeeehhhhh, I don’t know a man that would take a woman back after alllaaattt 🤣! However, i’m so glad that they made it!
Kendrick’s story almost took me out of here!!!!! Tasha was repulsive!!! As Kenny said, I wouldn’t normally feel comfortable with Tasha’s punishment, but it was well deserved!!!!!!! This one right her was emotionally draining, but very good as usual! Monica Walters will forever be my fav!!!
This book is shocking in how it portrays the cheating of a man on his wife who was suffering from postpartum depression post childbirth as the wife’s fault for not speaking up. No one questions why he didn’t try to talk to her, ask around about the issues he was facing. Nope. He just decided to cheat, and yet it’s her fault for not saying “hey, listen, I don’t want sex because I feel depressed”. And what’s worse is that she just...accepts it as her fault? Like, because of me you went and had unprotected sex with a hoard of women and that resulted in another child from one of your mistresses. Also, after cheating, the husband has the temerity to be angry that the wife stepped out on the marriage? I honestly don’t understand. Very confused over here in this corner of the internet. Redemption done good is a great read, but I honestly do not believe the author will be able to turn things around after such a portrayal.

Them Hendersons are a force to reckoned with! I wanted to despise Kenny so bad but he made me a fan. It's amazing how once you get information, it's easier to see the truth. There was so much emotion in this story. I went from being angry, to laughing, to crying and back through it all over again. One true message in this story and that of the Henderson family, love conquers all and never fails.
Plenty of engaging drama but a twisted and unbalanced narrative/message
This was a page turner as expected for all the drama and moving parts, mostly the pop up side-plots surrounding WJ and Marcus. I won’t even speak on that other event happening that I also felt like was a wild plot device…but iykyk and if you don’t, don’t underestimate the trigger warnings. But I just couldn’t get with the overarching narrative the book seemed to push for Kenny and Keisha and their “second chance”. At first glance, and from the synopsis and introduction, it seemed like an advocate for communication, “two sides to every story” redemption arc but ended up being more like a character assassination.
I won’t spoil the details but it was giving “anything we can do to make everything Keisha’s fault and blame women for ruining good men and justify men cheating, let’s do it.” I honestly stopped rooting for them as a couple and was Team Work On Yourselves and Find Happiness CoParenting. And the narrative around Keisha’s postpartum depression was giving “ladies if you can’t give your man any and can’t talk about why even though that’s literally how clinical depression works, you’ll send him to other women and force him to become a different person and it’ll be all your fault, because what’s a man to do?” It was like a plot device to excuse everything; there wasn’t even any mention on when and how she eventually got help, if she even did. It felt very anti-women which didn’t sit right with me.
And Kenny’s “I’ve been celibate since the divorce so I could rediscover myself without sex and be there for my son” felt disingenuous because how is it that you could think that way with this child and as a single man who NOW has the freedom to do whatever he wants sexually, but not for your existing family, newborn (at the time) daughter and wife who you admitted you clearly suspected was going through depression from the birth of your child? Then for Kenny to be laughing and kekeing with his brothers about all his infidelities and his f-boy actions towards other women, and them being all “you have a heart of gold for dealing with all that” made me dislike them all. Like before everything really hit the fan between them, Kenny was messing with this other woman on the regular until she ended up at their house claiming her pregnancy and the book’s internal monologues and all the supporting characters were trying so hard to make the reader forget and excuse that.
Then the whiplash of Keisha dragging Kenny, Kenny snapping over stuff he knew about for years then Keisha turning teary and chasing after him begging for forgiveness was nonsensical and unnecessary. And the “manipulation” plot fell flat because that’s not an excuse to not take accountability for the multitude of years-long bs. Keisha and Kenny both created and maintained their own toxic cycle, but the shift in story to place literally everything on Keisha’s shoulders and he’s just poor Kenny who was ruined by his depressed wife and is a saint for surviving had me heated. I just think the same energy should’ve been kept for both of them because eventually they were both wrong but the book seemed to want to excuse away and reframe the catalyst to it all and not deal with each action on the level it deserved. Same way Keisha made her choices after the first affair, Kenny did too way before her and the choices he continued to make and person he turned into were his own as well. They both should’ve left each other way before they did.
I can appreciate this story for what it is as a story of broken trust, lack of communication, toxic love, betrayal but also one of redemption and forgiveness and second chances. But I sometimes felt the levels of betrayal were not dealt with with the gravity that they deserved. Like imagine Kenny’s siblings laughing up his random indiscretions with random women. Imagine us never quite understanding why Keisha was dragging Kenny so publicly when she knew she had dirty laundry as well… Because some of these issues weren’t tackled with the gravity they needed, I felt what could have been a 5-star book taking on a really difficult subject like flagrant infidelity and whether it is possible to change, was less impactful.
The premise is that after Kenny’s infidelities came out to haunt him in the form of a baby from a fling, his marriage is over and he loses everything and will do anything to get him back. Keisha is as bitter and unforgiving as she should be but unbeknownst to everyone, she’s keeping dirty secrets too and her treatment of Kenny may make him snap and drag them in the mud as well.
Kenny’s sudden rage over Keisha’s secret didn’t make sense to me when it was something he had known about for years. The twist of a Machiavellian manipulation plot didn’t make sense to me and for me wasn’t an excuse- you cheated, leave it at that and own it- no one forced you, you did bad on your own. The healing journey was beautiful and well-balanced. The tragedy nearly took me out, it was so heartbreaking and out of nowhere. This was overall a really interesting read and on brand with this author’s ability to drag your emotions from pillar to post in a couple of hundred pages.
The theme of the book for me was “Why?” Why are we acting like Kenny didn’t cheat first…why are we vilifying a woman that had postpartum depression…why are acting like Keshia’s relationship with Reggie was the worst thing ever in the world…why are we coming to the asinine conclusion that y’all were “setup” to cheat…either you gon get or not…I should have been done with this the first day I start but it too 3 days because I keep asking myself why is this happening?!
Man listen! This book had me going through every possible emotion. I kept telling myself that I was going to put it down and finish in the morning and the next thing I knew, it was the morning and I was laughing and crying. Kenny definitely redeemed himself. I was hurt my some things that occurred but sometimes life hurts. This is a definite must read.
This book was a rollercoaster ride for real. Let me start by say Mrs. Monica did the damn thing because I was Anti-Kenny all day but that Keisha man....I wanted to throw them both away at one point but she made me a believer. I enjoyed their growth from beginning to end especially when that tearjerker almost took me out :( Another great read!
REVELATIONS, REDEMPTION, FORGIVENESS AND NEW BEGINNINGS
WOW Monica, as always you do your thing when it comes to writing and putting together a story but this one here takes the cake. When I was first introduced to Kenny Henderson, he was at the bottom of my list because I just didn't like his actions. But he has definitely redeemed himself in this book. It takes a man to own up to his mistakes and take responsibility for the role he played in the demise of his marriage. They say people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, well Keisha wasn't as perfect and innocent as we all thought she was. Although Kenny and Keisha had their flaws, with lack of communication being at the core, one thing that still remained was the love they had for each other. You definitely felt every emotion this couple expresses in this book which had me rooting for them to get back to the happy place they were in before. I commend these two for not giving up completely and working things out. Thank you Monica for giving us a story of the newly improved and redeemed Kenny Henderson.
This is my favorite book by Monica Walters. I still have more to go in her catalog. Let me explain why this one was my favorite. Monica held nothing back in this book. She gave us every emotion in this book. This was not your typical romance book with steamy sex scenes...this book provoked a range of emotions as it taught us faith, unconditional love, forgiveness, and redemption. In previous writings we were given a side of Kenny that was definitely unfavorable. Then we were given the full story and my mind was blown. This book taught us that we need to be careful counting folks out without knowing every aspect of the truth. Was his actions justifiable? Does that matter when we are all fragile and imperfect. I laughed, found myself angry, and I cried. This book was everything. Without any spoilers I recommend you read this book!
A story of redemption and forgiveness. I was so ready for Kenny's story. The author did such a great job of telling it. I think the few twists that came in the story were executed flawlessly. I was almost brought to tears at one dramatic event that occurred. While I had an inkling something was traumatic was going to happen and was bracing for it, I was not as prepared as I thought. Kenny's story is one that will tug at your heartstrings and make you re-think how you communicate with loved ones going forward. People always say communication is key and this story is a good example of just why that holds true. Great job! umm ShyLou and Cass what ya'll doing?
In Way too Deep is book 7 in the Country Hood Love Stories series by Monica Walters about divorced couple Kendrall and Keisha Henderson. This is the 4th Henderson book so we’ve previously been introduced to these characters, I will admit going into this book I was giving Kenny the side-eye 👀 because he was a mess. Come to find out Ms. Keisha is a mess too! I found myself rooting for this couple because despite their errors their love for each other remained. The relationship that Keisha and baby Kendrick built is beautiful! I cried and I laughed reading this, it’s a great story! I hope we get go see Cass and Shylou next! Btw Cass is a good friend, she kept it 💯 with Keisha at all times!
Kenny and Kiesha everything you think you know just throw it out the window!!! Monica did a great job with this story of forgiveness and redemption. I was prepared to hate Kenny after everything I thought I knew. I was team Kenny within the first couple of chapters. Now Kiesha who I had so much sympathy for irked my nerves. I think Kenny was way to easy on her, he should have given her that same energy she gave him for 2 years. I’m glad he finally bossed up on her. Kendrick I won’t mention cause I’m still hurt over that. Great story that had me laughing and crying. Another slam dunk!
Ok let me first start by saying I didn’t want to read Kenny’s story but chile it’s two sides to every story. And I love a good second chance story and all of this hurt and pain could have been avoided if they would have COMMUNICATED with each other. And Tasha’s a$$ boy I tell you I have to stop reading to get my emotions in check but Kendrick did not deserve that at all!!!!!! But overall I loved the book and I am team Kenny all the way.
This was such a great book. Kudos to Monica Walters for yet another amazing story. This book had me all in my feelings the whole way through. I was mad, sad, crying, laughing and everything in between. In the beginning, I was rooting for Keisha and Kenny to get back together. Then, once the whole story came out, I was like F-that, Kenny needs to keep it moving. But in the end, I was so happy with the outcome. Kenny and Keisha for the WIN!! ❤❤
Way too deep did not efficiently describe how much Kenny loved Keisha and vice versa. I would've never guessed their relationship demise was about multiple layers of deception. The author did a great show showing Kenny's humility and Keisha's heart and pain. I got it. Well written and loving. Wow a great story!
Now Kenny story was everything. Keisha made me so mad. All this time she in the wrong also. Monica you wrong for making me shed a tear. I believe this one was my favorite one of all the Hendersons.
This book had me going through so many emotions. But the main one was sadness I couldn't believe that Tasha stupid ass really killed that baby when I tell you I was over here in tears she had your girl down bad. But I'm glad that Kenny and Keisha got their HEA.
Lord! The feelings this book produced had me all over the place! Kenny and Keisha really overcame a lot! I just couldn't believe the shit they were going through. I'm glad they overcame everything. This story had me shook for sure. Just everything they went through and the crazy ass baby mama, whew chile it was emotional! Amazing book!
This is a story about love lost & love found. Pain & redemption. Self doubt & self worth. Discovering that true love has a cost if betrayed but also has rewards & ties so deep and so strong that working together & forgiveness will bring you back. Keisha & Kenny can soul ties be broken & if so can they be prepared?
If I could give this book 20 stars, I would. Monica Walters truly has talent when it comes to weaving stories that will have you locked in from page one. I not only recommend this book, but I highly recommend all the other books centered on the Hendersons!
I knew I was #teamkenny. But once he put his foot done babyyy. But why the baby??!! This book had my emotions all over the place. Them Henderson men are amazing.. love love love

Omg I love everything about this book it shows you everything you can go through when your married and the importance of communication omg this book had me in my feelings the whole time
Kenny and Keisha took me on a wild ride! I'm thrilled Kenny finally stepped up – it was about time for him and Keisha to sort things out. Keeping secrets like he did just shows how much he cares. I was bawling at 2 am thanks to this book! But hey, from the dark comes the light, right? It's heartwarming to see them forgive each other. Tasha, though – my she never know peace. This book is climbing up my favorites list, even though they're all good. It teaches you not to judge a story when you only know bits and pieces.
This is the 4th book in the series and so far it is my least favorite. If you are not into cheating AND aren’t a fan of miscommunication I would say skip this one. Kenny and Keisha were messy as hell! SPOILERS I feel like this whole storyline was basically lack of communication / miscommunication and due to that a whole bunch of messy disrespectful behavior that all could’ve been avoided if Keisha had simply had a conversation with her husband. Anyway this one was a no for me and I would recommend skipping it. I am still a fan of this author and still plan on continuing with this series.

With each book in the series that I read I couldn’t wait to read Kenny’s book because I needed to read that he got what he deserved for being a constant cheater in his marriage. Now that I’ve read his book my eyes have been opened to the reasons why! I saw Kenny in a new light. No one should have to go through what he went through and to hold onto it for all that time. He was still in love and willing to fight for his marriage and did all that he was supposed to do while going through such a painful time in his life - he still fought to be in his kids lives, he wasn’t disrespectful to Keisha even though she was rude as hell, he still provided over and above financially for them - her included - even tho she moved them kids hours away from him and she didn’t have a job, and he kept Keisha protected by taking all of the blame and shame on him even though Keisha wasn’t innocent and squeaky clean. Baby Kendrick - woo! I appreciated Keisha’s best friend Cass because she was a true friend and told her the truth about herself and got on her when she was dead wrong and she was definitely dead wrong. Here I was ready to hate Kenny and after reading it my heart went out to him. He was definitely in too deep to turn around and give up and Keisha was too. That’s some good writing if you can get your readers to have a change of heart. I’m glad I decided to go on the journey of the Hendersons with this series. Excellent read!
Kenny is the weird middle child out of seven, meaning he was the ACTUAL middle child. He never felt like he fit in with the oldest three & the youngest three always kicked him out too. Kenny has been married for 12 yrs, unhappily married for 5. & instead of talking to his wife, he's been spreading the love to any woman who'll take it. He's been wilding for a long time & his wife knows, but she keeps talking him back. All that changes when he messes around with the wrong one & Keisha finds out.
Keisha has been holding it down for her husband. He's a provider in every sense of the word & Keisha shows her appreciation by being super wife except in one area. She knows about all his infidelities & has forgiven him time & time again. But this time is sooooo different. Keisha can forgive a lot of things, but this is the last straw & she is not playing.
I was so thrown off reading this & Keisha clean pissed me off 😑 So when Kenny bosses up ok her, I was laughing like hell. Them tables TURNED & Keisha was like a deer in headlights. She didn't know what to do. I loved how Kenny worked on himself & put his foot down when it came to his kids & how he put her in her place. This was a beautiful second chance novel. Keisha falling in love with him again was so beautiful. Them putting their family until back together was good. I hate everything with the trifling bitch Tasha & I'm glad she got hers.
