The Gillikin: Book 1 in The Yellow Brick Road Series

Rate this book
Tyl Guela is the captain of the witch Netrebka's flying armies, and he keeps a tenuous peace in the west with rigid rules and regular patrols. But when Netrebka's sister is killed in the east and a priceless magical item is stolen, Captain Tyl is ordered to capture the thief and retrieve the magic by any means necessary.

But there are others who want the magic for themselves. Pursued by unknown enemies, a self-righteous shapeshifter, and his own haunted past, Captain Tyl may finally be forced to decide where his loyalty really lies... with the witch who saved his life centuries ago, or with a strange little girl from a place called "Kansas", who only wants to go home.

A re-telling of one of the most popular American fairy tales ever written, this origin story of one of literature's and film's most iconic minor characters is not from the same Oz you remember. Because this time, it isn't Dorothy's story.

Great read, had me thinking from the beginning! It’s a very interesting spin on the story of Oz! I could not put it down once I had time to read it, I knocked it out in two days! Absolutely cannot wait for the next book 🤞🏻

A bold and brilliant twist on Oz.
I was hooked from the first page. The author takes a story we all think we know and flips it on its head, giving depth and history to a character I’d never thought twice about before. Dark, thrilling, and full of heart this is Oz like you’ve never seen it.
