An unstoppable enemy. A handful of heroes. An impossible mission
Seven hundred years ago, flesh-eating demons came out of the darkness and conquered all who tried to stand before them. Only the island nation of Abios remained free, protected by the warrior priests known as the Black Dogs.
Led by Jack Frey, a small force now hopes to take the fight to the enemy and stop a devastating invasion from being launched. If they fail, humankind's last bastion will become nothing but food for the demons.
Can Jack and his allies do the impossible or will darkness triumph once more?
Cry War is the epic third book in the Jack Frey, Demon Hunter dark fantasy series. If you like impossible odds, breakneck battles, and shocking twists, then you’ll love Mike Morris’ grim tales.
It's time to Cry War and join Jack Frey in his epic battle today!
A twisty, wild 4/5. This book took the scope and action of the series, and jacked it way up! There are a lot of story lines left open, and I am not sure what to expect when the next installment comes.
Just when I think the board is set, the players get shuffled again, and as always, no one is safe from pain, betrayal, and death. I enjoyed how Jack and Lin’s love developed, got thrown for a bit, and settled by the end of the book. I’ll be curious to see how the events of the book shift Jack’s personality once more, and what the return home to Abios will look like.
I feel like the length of the books have been a great change of pace from chonkier books, but there are times where I feel it is almost too fast paced. Also, there are some lines the tend to get recycled often as well. However, it is always entertaining, and the way the stakes are raised with dragons and magic makes me eager to read how every hing will shake down.
I really do not see much hope for humanity, but we will see what luck Jack can conjure next!
Big fan of this series. I appreciate the smaller page length as well, as not all stories need 500-600 pages to be good. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it leaves you wanting more! I wonder how our protagonists will find a way out of the corner they are backed in! I pray not all hope is lost!
It's been a while but Jack's Back! In all his overconfident goodness! You have to love a flawed hero and Jack and Lin make an awesome pair. Great action, enough twists and turns to keep you snagged and delightfully evil villains. Loving it and keen to see what happens next.
