A-List Rebels #1

Hollywood Rebel

Rate this book
Rebel Maddox.
A-list actor and grade-A alpha-hole.
Too bad I need him, almost as much as he needs me.

His reputation is... well let’s just say scandalous doesn’t quite cover it.
Rebel needs someone to clean up his reckless, bad boy image.
But needing someone and wanting them are two very different things.

As his unsolicited publicist I’m about to learn this the hard way.
Falling headfirst into a nude portrait of him isn’t exactly the best first impression.
Good thing I’m not the one in the spotlight.

But if I’m going to succeed, I need to keep my mouth shut and both left feet on the ground.
Too bad I’ve never been very good at either of those things.

I’ll do anything to save my job.
Well, almost anything.
Like Meatloaf said... I won’t do that.
Or would I?

Misti Murphy

Misti Murphy writes sweet and funny, sometimes frustrating and always swoony romantic comedies with just a teensy bit of angst.

When she's not writing she lives in an imaginary world full of happy humans, glitter, and unicorns.

Not that being a mother of four, plus four fur kids isn't practically the same thing. Except when they steal the Tim Tams.

(Kangaroos are practically unicorns, right?)

Wow, What a story!

well first of all I loved this story and could hardly put it down.
also got a Facebook ban for 30 days for saying I wanted to punch Ro in the face! which I do but they did not appreciate it lol ( I must not say bad things about characters on Facebook!

Rebel is a hot-headed, cheeky but loveable guy and underneath all that brooding sexy male specimen is a sweetheart but I dunno there is just something about Summer that makes insecurities jump right at us and then here comes the man in full force and this guy has a serious issue with pee! but it's hilarious lol

His brothers are funny and I am so excited to read Rogue! Bring it on

is he as bad as he seems? well, I guess you gotta read the book and find out!
Would Rebel Be My Book Boyfriend? Hell yes! this man is mine #Claimed

Rebel Maddox has a bad reputation for beating the shit out of this dude Alec. He’s an actor who just spent six months in prison for the beating. But the back story is that Alec is rapey and assaulted his friend. She just didn’t want anyone to know.
Now he’s out and he can’t get a job because he’s blacklisted.

She makes him get a dog and volunteer at a youth soup kitchen. She gets him a job with a whiskey company and the. He finally lands a movie gig.
They fall in love but they have their secrets. She comes from a small town with six brothers and in high school was assaulted by the hometown boys. The cops and the town sided with the boys and summer became enemy number one so she beat feet to LA to get away from it. But her six overly protective brothers call her every day. Then Burke, her brother, shows up for her birthday and figures out she’s with rebel. They become fast friends and so do rebels brothers.
Then Alec strikes again and shit hits the fan. This lady Marty wants to do an interview to clear the air but Marty is rebels ex and she did him dirty. Summer is still talking to Marty in hopes of getting rebel to do the interview. They go to a fancy party and rebel sees the. Essages to Marty on summers phone and gets all pissy about it so drinks himself stupid and breaks up with summer. Then he runs into Alec who threatens his brothers and summer so rebel beats the shit out of him and back to the slammer.

I just love it when the bad boy falls to his knees for the women he cares about. Makes this book so much sweeter. Plus the banter? Absolutely addicted to this author and her couples.

Can’t wait to read number 2. Downloading now!

Loved it. Perfect amount of jerk.
I really wish we could step away from the 3rd act breakup. Especially when there is less than 10 % of the book left. I don’t read past the break up. No need.

Summer Heart is fresh to her job a publicist. She is trying to make a name for herself so she can keep her dream job.

Rebel Maddox is fresh out if prison and was a big movie star before he beat a guy half to death. He did have a train though.

When the 2 meet together are less than thrilled with each other. But as time goes on and they need each other and actually start to like spending time together they become friends.

The question is can Summer help turn Rebels career sround and get him back in the saddle.

A friendship and relationship become one and some crap hits the fan. There are some twists and turns but in the end we get our HEA. Or do we....

Long lost author - read on KU

I found Misti Murphy in February of 2019 and have been following her on Amazon but somehow forgot about her. I think I read all the books she had out at the time. After I read this one, I looked to see how I rated her books and all the ones I checked where I had left a review, I left 5 star reviews. When I started this book, I was pretty sure I had read something by her before buy couldn't remember what. And to be honest, I don't remember the books I did read even after reading the blurbs again. It seems a lot of her book descriptions are similar to a lot of other books. Since I couldn't remember what I had read by her, I was assuming she was an author that was good enough to follow but not great. I was so wrong.

I really enjoyed reading about Rebel and Summer. Overall, it loses a star for two things. The first is it took a little while to get into. Once I got into it, though, it was a page turner. Rebel held onto being a jerk just a little longer than needed. There was a place in the book, maybe around 60 or 70% where he accused her of something and they actually talked it out instead of either of them angrily stomping away. That was refreshing. *** Mild spoiler here....unfortunately, a small misunderstanding later causes a shortish break up and it was a smaller misunderstanding than the first one. I hate for miscommunication to be used in such a manner, which is so commonly is. End spoiler *****

Anyway, the second thing was a number of small grammatical errors. Ms. Murphy used a few personal pronouns incorrectly but in unusual ways. If you're reading this on Goodreads, I will eventually share my highlights where I marked some. There were a fair number of missing commas. Maybe a couple of other small things. These small things just take away the professionalism of the book. But, I fault editing with these things. No one is going to write a book with no errors. It seems editing, in general, is getting sloppy these days. I read so few books that don't have glaring errors. It is distracting to me if I am reading along and my brain is expecting the next word to be the grammatically correct one and it isn't.

**** Vague Spoiler *****
I got so angry with Rochelle. She is someone from Rebel's past and she doesn't care that her unwillingness to put her big girl panties on really screws over Rebel in multiple ways. The situation is bad but I think the position she puts Rebel in is similar to the one she was put in but in a more figurative way. You will be will be aware of what happened with her a long time before it is spelled out. I try not to add these types of things in reviews but her character made me so angry - which says great things about Ms. Murphy's writing ability.
**** End spoiler ****

All in all, I highly recommend this book. You will fall in love with the brotherhood shared by the Maddox brothers - twins Rebel and Rogue and younger brother Riot. There are some good male friends in there and another guy who ends up staying with the brothers and that brohood was great, too. I can't wait to read the next book and hope we see a series with Summer's 6 brothers.

Rebel and Summer's story is so good. Need more!

Rebel is a Hollywood bad boy who is just coming out of jail from a 6 month service. When he gets home his brothers are having a huge party. One he wants no part of. When he gets away and heads to his part of the house and he runs into a gorgeous redhead. He catches he staring at a life-size naked photo of himself. He startles her and she face plants against his private parts of the picture. He propositions her and she takes off.

Days later she comes back and introduces herself as Summer Heart and offers to work with him as a PR agent and he says no and closes the door on her. She puts a tent in his yard and decides to wait him out until he says yes.

Things get crazy between these two. With Rebel's twin constantly flirting with her, Rebel goes into full attack mode. He wants Summer for himself.

I love this story! You get to meet all of Rebels brothers and you also get a feel for Summer's very protective brothers. I hate that I have months to read book 2. My selfish side wants to read more now. I am truly addicted to this story. Definitely should be on all of your to be read pile. Enjoy!

This is one of those books that caught my attention by the cover (because, well, Rebel just looks like a good time), and I left all of those books sitting on my TBR to pick this one up instead. And then I just couldn't put it down. It's been quite a few books since one has consumed me, but this one? Yep, it did. CONSUMED ME from the very beginning.

Rebel is Hollywood's bad boy and Summer is an up-and-coming publicist trying to further her career. Rebel needs someone to clean up his image and Summer needs to prove herself to her boss. Rebel doesn't want the help, but he might just want Summer.

First off, I absolutely love a vulnerable bad boy and Rebel Maddox is all that and so much more. Add an awkward and funny heroine, and this couple quickly stole my heart. This book is a page-turner that has it all -- plenty of steamy times, laughs, drama and angst -- I didn't want to put it down. And the ending?! WHAT?! You can't leave me hanging like that! I have other books piled up in my TBR pile, but I seriously just want to pick up the next book in the A-List Rebels series right NOW. I can't get enough!

DNF. Man I am Not having good luck right now at picking books to read. So let’s preface this with I barely had started the book before I DNF and it is for a pretty petty reason but I just couldn’t get past it. A grown ass woman calling a man’s privates by a diminutive childish nickname I would expect from a five year old while getting sloppy at a raging party being held by the twin of said man. She is supposed to be a professional artist manager. No way she is this childish. I like strong assertive female characters who are not shrinking violets and who are not afraid to call a spade a spade. I read the paragraph leading up to the ridiculous nickname for a man’s privates to my college kids. They laughed so hard asking the same thing I did. Is the character five? So no, I can’t continue to read a romance with spice when a main character comes off as way too young for the shark infested waters she finds herself in. It’s not my jam and maybe it will work for someone else. No ratings because I didn’t get far enough into it to rate anything.

This book was my introduction to Misti Murphy and she did not disappoint!!

Rebel Maddox is a Hollywood bad boy, recently incarcerated for beating the daylights out of a man, has some issues with public urination, and refuses the help of a professional publicist. He comes across as a jerk but is a big cinnamon roll on the inside.

Summer Heart is a new publicist trying to make a name for herself in the industry, from a small town, the only girl out of 7, and determined. She promises her boss that her first client is Rebel Maddox and now has to make it happen! Let's just say it's not an easy task and Rebel makes her WORK for it!

I have to say Rochelle really irked me. I wish she just stepped up a little for her childhood best friend instead of letting him ruin his reputation and image to protect her.

Overall I loved the banter, the relationships between the Maddox brothers and their BFF, and Summer's brothers. Cannot wait for the rest of their stories!

Loved it

The famous actor vs regular girl trope has been done quite a few times by quote a few authors and this particular time and this particular author nailed it.

But first things first:
Spice: 🌶🌶.5/🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶(2.5-5)
Medium/slowish burn 🔥
Violence/gore (2/5)
M/F
Dual POV
Interconnected Standalone w/cliffhanger for new book featuring new couple
Tropes: he falls first, actor/publicist, history of trauma, found family (sorta), over protective brothers/male lead, good girl/bad boy

Triggers:

Off page mentions of attempted sexual assault and unspecified assault but not between main characters.

While there is clear consent in all interactions, main male character is pretty steady and assertive in his pursuit of mail female character despite her rejecting him for professional and past trauma reasons. This could be potentially triggering to some.

Hollywood Rebel is an absolute knockout! From page one, Misti Murphy had me hooked—and I loved every wild, emotional, swoon-filled second of it. This book is the kind of roller coaster that throws your heart around, makes your stomach drop, and leaves you grinning like a lovestruck fool by the end. And honestly? I didn’t want to get off.

The chemistry between the leads is electric (hello, 4/5 spice 🔥), but it’s the emotional depth and drama that really made this story shine. It’s raw and real in all the best ways, giving you just enough angst to keep the pages flying, with moments that had me clutching my chest and my Kindle.

Glitzy, messy, addictive—this is the perfect blend of Hollywood glamour and rebel heart. If you love a book that makes you feel everything and keeps you begging for more, this one’s a must-read. Bring on book two!

Hollywood’s Rebel is really a pussycat

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it this was different to that. Good, different, heavier than anticipated but a good read nonetheless.
The Maddox brothers, and selected few friends, have very close knit and loyal relationships that they don’t open up or share easily. Rebel and Summer were inevitable but they tried to stay professional (well, she did!). Both of their backstories were drip fed through the book and the downloadable bonus scene, from Rebel’s POV, at the end reveals more about Ro so definitely needs to be read. Left on a cliffhanger, but I’m diving straight into the next one……!

Rebel Love ❤️ 🌧️ 🎥 💙

This was an excellent bad boy/good girl romance. Rebel is the Hollywood heart throb whose career has veered off path for reasons only his family understands. Summer is trying to prove to her brothers, and to herself, that she’s strong and capable by becoming his publicist.

From their first awkward meeting, through her desperate means to take him on as a client, the story took me for quite the ride. The family on both sides is great, and the drama is engaging. Ends on a cliffhanger, but the two of them are solid.

Be sure to heed TW. There’s trauma in both of their lives. But it speaks to the strength of Summer.

A must read!

Bad boy Rebel Maddox is fresh out of jail, once a super successful actor when one incident tipped him to disgraced a-list royalty. Enters Summer Heart, a publicist who may have told her boss that Rebel Maddox is going to be her newest client. I loved how she ends up getting him to agree, but he didn’t make it easy on her and in the end she gets more than she bargains for. Drama filled, high heat level and a storyline that doesn’t disappoint make this newest release a must read. I can’t wait to see what happens especially will that ending.

OMG!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!

Once again the author has placed me on the edge of my seat once again. Maybe I should be throwing tissues at her or foam objects. Screaming why..why...

No it's not a terribly bad thing that happens thru the book, but it's a big adventure and you cannot help but fall in love with the characters that are in the book. You never know what to except from anyone.

You will be in for the ride of your life so hang on to something tight and hold on!!

Love ya Ms. Author...Can't wait until the next book.

Until Next Time.... Tabi

Enjoyable but not gripping
The writing is good and the book well edited. However whilst I enjoyed the book it was in that low level "meh" kind of way. I felt that the characters could have been so much more and the story more engaging. Unfortunately you see the ending coming a mile away and I became really frustrated with the FC and her "inability to be vulnerable" which the author found the need to repeat time and time again.
Having said that, if you are looking for an easy read with relatively fun characters then go for it.

Bad boy redemption

Totally loved this story and need more ASAP! Great story telling, amazing characters, steam and sass, all wrapping up a beautiful love story. Loved how it treated sensible subjects and, even though a work of fiction, it gives a very real feeling. Rebel is your typical bad boy, emphasis on bad; Summer is a sweetheart with nerves of steel. Together, their relationship equals combustion.

There is no way… absolutely no way a young ambitious woman trying to start her career would behave the way Summer does. I just can’t even go on. She’s supposed to be resurrecting Rebel’s image but doesn’t do anything about him leaving a restaurant with an open bottle of Champaign? She allows him to basically bully her into doing completely unprofessional things. She’s not strong and assertive and working toward a career. She’s weak and passive and inappropriate. And he’s a dick. DNF at 26%.

I have mixed feelings on this book. I wasn’t a big fan of the brothers in the beginning but they grew on me. I feel like the FMC was immature. Not to say that she was determined or had potential but like professionally speaking she just seemed like she was just gambling with her job. MMC grew on me pretty quickly. Ro (family friend) I couldn’t stand. She let Rebel go to jail for her not once but was going to a second time.

Summer is desperate to keep her job so she tells her boss she has signed notorious bad boy actor Rebel Maddox. On the surface Rebel is an arrogant, violent Hollywood actor with money & attitude. Summer is tenacious in her pursuit of Rebel as a client in order to save her job. Not only does she get her goal but she finds her self seeing through the facade Rebel has built around himself.
I absolutely loved this book & all the characters in it. Straight on to book 2....

Fantastic book

Rebel and Summer are such great characters and I loved the secondary characters as well. This book can be read as a standalone but obviously ends with what will be a continuation to book 2 -- which I can't wait to read. Loveable characters and interesting plot. Fantastic book

Some nice moments but not entirely convinced

So I really liked how this book started then I got bored with it in the middle and then I really liked the end. I thought all three brothers were well written as was Summer. I did feel like we could potentially guess what was going to happen so I wasn't that excited by the plot.

Hot sexy brooding man with tattoos and a big heart is just a few of the ways you could describe rebel Maddox he is dangerously loyal and sweet and then you have the rest of the Maddox men and good lord it sounds like god gave with both hands when it came to all the Maddox brothers !

Hollywood Badboy

Fun, flirty, face-paced, at times predictable, novel of a Hollywood bad-boy reframing his public persona with the help of his new PR manager. Banter and relationship development was good, support characters were entertaining, the ending felt rushed and didn’t necessarily peak my interest to continue the series.

Another book where the cover doesn’t do it justice.
It’s was good but a bit too much filler for my liking. Ends on a cliffhanger but I already downloaded the next book because I can’t help myself.
I love all the guys in this family and I can’t wait to read their stories.

I absolutely loved everything about summer and rebels relationship! Rebel loved unconditionally in his own way! He pulled her out of her comfort zone and made her live for once. This story has a great story line and the characters learn a lot.
