Book 8 in the Hart’s Ridge series. Bratt has decided to continue this series due to its overwhelming success and the support and encouragement of her readers. I am so glad she has! I’m really enjoying the stories, which have all been 4 or 5 stars for me. I pick up the book as soon as I get it and don’t stop till I’m finished. This book was no exception.
This story follows Taylor as she searches for a missing wife of one of their own. This story really tugs at your heart strings. Bratt is not afraid of pushing the limits and not doing the expected outcome. At the same time, Cate has someone to help her with her recovery, Sutton, who is hiding major secrets of her own. Time is of the essence in solving these two mysteries.
These characters have become family. I cheer them on, I feel their sadness, pain and delight in their accomplishments. The storylines suck you in and before you know it, the book is finished and you are impatiently waiting for the next nook. Thanks Ms. Bratt for another great installment. I look forward to the next one. I highly recommend you start at Book 1 and don’t stop till you’re caught up!
I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.
Another great read in The Hart’s Ridge series. This is Book 8 which was supposed to be the last one, but, thankfully, it’s not! Kay Bratt has decided to continue the series! In this one Taylor is helping to work on a case that is close to her heart. The wife of one of her fellow officers has been kidnapped from a Walmart parking lot. Much of the book centers on the efforts to find Lydia. We also meet a new character, Sutton. She is helping Cate in her recovery from the gunshot wound sustained at the end of Book 7. She has big problems of her own. So, two mysteries, one involving Taylor and one involving Cate, two of my favorite characters. And, of course, great surprises at the end!
This book grabbed me from the start. The Gray family has become almost like family which leaves me waiting for the news of what is going on with our friends and family.
With this eighth instalment in the Hart's Ridge series, Kay Bratt has done it again! We have each family member beginning to move forward in their disrupted lives, and of course, there is an awful case that Taylor has to help solve, too. Initially, this was meant to be the last in the series, but I am thankful that Bratt has decided to continue for now with another story in the series, and now I can't wait for that, too!
This is another great book by Kay Bratt, the 8th book in her Hart's Ridge Series. It's a wonderful series, I can not recommend it highly enough! I have read every one of Kay' books in the series and love them all.
It's another fast-paced story with lots of family drama. There's the disappearance of a local woman that has the entire law enforcement community scrambling to find her.
I could not put the book down and eagerly await the next book in the series.
Thank you Kay Bratt for the opportunity to read this E-ARC.
This was another really good book in this series. The author really pours so much of herself into each story. I’m excited to know that the series is continuing. I feel like I’ve become a part of the Grey family and want to keep in touch with everyone. I’m a bit sad about one aspect of the books ending. I don’t want to give anything away so will only say it’s not right or fair to never know what happened.
Have you ever innocently started a series and later loved it so much you couldn’t fathom not having a new book in the series? I have and many times have been sad to see the series end. Today, I am happy because Starting Over, the eighth book in the Hart’s Ridge series by Kay Bratt, was supposed to end at book eight. I am so excited to say that she has decided to continue the series and we are at least going to have book nine. I’m not sure how many more there will be. This series is so popular and that was the driving force to continue. So, if you haven’t read it yet, jump in at book one and binge this series. It will be worth your time and maybe we will get book 10! Let’s keep it going.
Kay’s series takes place in a small town in the mountains. I love small towns. Don’t you? Taylor is the police officer in the family and has kept her family together for years and has transferred her talents to her town that she also loves. This series brings us not only the family of Taylor but we get to know her family on the police force and some main characters in the town. There is always something going on in this town and they give the police and the detectives a run for their money. Taylor dreams of being a lead detective at some point but right now she is doing both jobs.
At this time in the series, I am invested in the characters and feel like I know them as my own. I have enjoyed seeing them all making strides to move forward with their lives. Most of them live together at the shelter they have started for abandoned and abused animals. Are you an animal lover like I am? I think we’re finding a lot in common!
The crime in this book involves the abduction of one officer's wife and they are trying to find her. The other crime involves the police chief's niece. She tried to help an elderly woman she was being a caregiver to and got herself in trouble.
This book will keep you interested but, it also will keep you guessing what is going to happen next. Not only with the criminal investigations but with Taylor and her family. There is so much to enjoy about these books. They are certainly binge worthy. If you are like me, love small towns, police stories, family saga’s and getting to know new friends then I highly recommend the Hart’s Ridge series. Until next time…Happy Reading!
Don’t forget to leave a review for the authors you read!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Number eight in this Hart's Ridge Series is so good. It was a heartbreaking story. It was also a story of hope and enlightenment. Two stories as all of these books are. One that ends pretty much in a happy way and one that is based on real events.
In this story Taylor is on the case of a woman, Lydia, who disappeared from the Walmart parking lot. Lydia is married to a cop that Taylor works with. Taylor is determined to find this woman. Also her boss has asked her to help him out with his niece, Sutton. Seems Sutton was in trouble for taking money from an elderly woman that she had been caring for. Sheriff wants Taylor to maybe let his niece care for her mother while she awaits her trial date. Taylor's mom was recovering from a gunshot she almost died from.
Taylor has a lot on her plate in this installment of the Hart's Ridge series. She's spending so many hours on the Lydia Grimes case and getting very little sleep. She's putting everything she has into finding this woman. Bringing her home to her husband and daughters. Meanwhile Cate is getting use to having a caregiver and finding out what is going on with her.
This book is more about Taylor and Cate than the rest of the family, but they are there also. Cate is trying to help Sutton and finding out what happened to her and with the trouble she's in. Taylor is spending all her time working on her case and not getting to spend much time with Sam.
This series is so good and will not end with number eight as previously thought. It will have at least one more and I can't wait to read it. Kay Bratt is doing such a good job with this series. It's edge of your seat and holding your breath chills in many places and a few chuckles in others. Hope is always a part of the Hart's Ridge series. A part of this story made me so sad and also so mad but I kind of expected it too. It broke my heart that this family, the Grimes's, went through this. But it made the story what it was also.
I read an ARC of this for Kay Bratt and this is my honest opinion of this book.
This is another great read by Kay Bratt and the 8th book in her Hart's Ridge Series.
We return to visit the Gray’s once more in this story about family dynamics, romance, secrets, helping where needed, balancing a busy life with family and of course, Mysteries.
A kidnapping rocks the town of Hart's Ridge when Lydia, the wife of a local sheriff deputy, goes missing from the local Walmart. Deputy Taylor Gray along with the local Sheriffs Department and the FBI are on the case to find this missing woman. This takes Taylor away from her fiance, Sam, as he is dealing with some family struggles of his own.
Cate is struggling with her romantic life and recovering from a gunshot wound she received at the end of book #7. We meet a new character, Sutton, who has been accused of embezzlement. She moves in with Cate to help with her recovery and has secrets of her own.
Most of the book revolves around the search for Lydia and Sutton's secret. Two great mysteries that will keep you guessing throughout the book.
I love this series. It pulls the reader in and it is a 'can't put down' read. The characters are all 3-dimensional with distinct personalities. I love their strength and no matter their struggles, they always have each others backs. I recommend reading the books in order so you can get to know the Gray family fall in love with them as I have.
Be sure to read the Author's note at the end of the book. The kidnapping in the book was based on a real life kidnapping. Parts of it were altered a bit but her inspiration came from an actual event.
Although I enjoyed this book immensely, I did have one issue with the ending. I felt like there was no closure. I don't want to spoil it so I won't say more. This was supposed to be the last book in the Hart's Ridge series but due to popular demand, there will be a 9th book. I am so glad we get to visit with the Gray's one more time. I am looking forward to book 9.
Starting Over is the eighth book in the Hart’s Ridge series by Kay Bratt. In the aftermath of the events of Hello Goodbye, the Gray family bands together in unwavering strength and resilience as a crisis appears to threaten to tear them apart once again. As a new case hits the small town of Hart’s Ridge a little too close to home, the Gray family and the rest of Hart’s Ridge must come together and find the courage and hope to keep going and start fresh. A local woman is taken while shopping and it becomes a race against time to find her and bring her home safe and sound. With every picture and facade being questioned and bonds tested by secrets, they can ever feel secure again. Will the Gray family and the citizens of Hart’s Ridge find strength and hope in the darkness of tragedy? Can they move forward as a family with love and forgiveness? When Kay Bratt first announced her new series, she originally planned for eight books. The overwhelming support and response for the Gray family and this series, she announced that she is continuing the series. And I am so happy! I can see how Starting Over was supposed to be a send off for the Gray family; but, there are still so many stories to be told in this tiny little hamlet. The main case of the story took my breath away as I awaited their resolution with every twist and turn. I wish I could talk about my reaction to the resolution but no spoilers! I will definitely be waiting for book nine and future books in this heart pounding series. If you have not started the Hart’s Ridge series, I highly, highly recommend starting with book one, Hart’s Ridge, which is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook. If you have read the Hart’s Ridge series, you will not be disappointed with Starting Over!
The crime spree in Hart's Ridge just continues unabated. This time, it hits close to home with the police department. Officer Grimes wife is abducted from the supermarket one evening while he is at home with their three daughters. The entire department is on alert to find her and her abductors. It is up to Taylor Gray to tell Caleb that his wife is missing. Now they must put all their efforts behind finding her. Meanwhile, Taylor's mother is recovering from being shot when she stood between her ex-husband Jackson and her daughter Jo's boyfriend as Eldon tries to kill the entire extended Gray family. Taylor is having to deal with her mother's recovery and trying to help Jo who has shut herself up in her cabin trying to deal with the idea that a man she brought into the family had used her to get close to them in order to wreck his revenge on them for an incident that happened in high school. Sutton Scott is introduced into the family when she arrives as a companion to Cate so she can go home and still make her PT sessions and ease up the pressure on Taylor and the other girls. She is the sheriff's niece and is in trouble for having taken money from her previous patient. Sutton is awaiting trial and may lose her nursing license; but she isn't working now as a nurse; but a companion. Meanwhile, the crazy lives of the Gray sisters are still going crazy. Taylor and Sam are dealing with trying to find out if Alice is really Sam's or if she has to go back home to Derek after her mother commits suicide. Anna is dealing with the rial of her ex-husband and the effects it will have on her children. Lucy is doing very well with her artistic business and raising her son. Has she really changed?
Kay Bratt is a true storyteller. When I first started reading the Hart’s Ridge series I had no idea just how much I would become wrapped up and totally immersed in this story and these characters. It has become my favorite book series and that’s saying a lot because I read a lot of books! Hart’s Ridge is a small town that’s filled with a lot of different characters. Many of the residents know of each other and like small towns, they know each others business. Throughout the books you learn about Taylor Gray, a deputy on the local police force, but you also come to know all about her family and friends. In this book there is another crime that takes place and even though I was praying for a better outcome, the author writes these stories based on real life occurrences and that’s why they seem so real to me. And even though there is always a mystery or a case to be solved, there is also happy times and events that will bring a smile to your face. This book left off giving the reader hope and optimism because it’s looking like Taylor just might get her happily ever after after all. I’m looking forward to reading Blackbird which is the next book in the series and that is a gift in itself because this series was originally only planned to consist of 8 books. I’m hoping that Kay Bratt will decide to keep on writing because I don’t foresee ever getting tired of reading about Hart’s Ridge and all the wonderful characters that live there. If you haven’t started reading this series, I really recommend you do. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. I’m giving this book another 5 star rating and look forward to reading the next!
Originally the author had planned 8 books for this series but she just added a 9th book so we don't have to say goodbye to our new friends in Hart's Ridge yet. Every book that comes out in this series is my new favorite. I certainly haven't gotten bored reading about the Gray family -- the author does a fantastic job of making each book exciting and interesting.
Starting Over tests the family bonds of the Gray family as they face a crisis that threatens to tear them apart. Taylor is working on a case that hits close to home as she tries to solve the kidnapping of one of her fellow police officer's wife. The search was very suspenseful and kept me turning pages to find out the outcome. At the same time, we meet someone new. Sutton has been hired to help Cate around the house and with her rehab from the gunshot wound that happened at the end of book 7. Cate wants to be independent and at first doesn't want Sutton's help. Sutton is keeping a major secret from Cate and the family that when it comes to light may end the beginning trust that Cate has in her. Along with the major plot lines involving Taylor and Cate, we get glimpses of what is going on with the rest of the family.
It was wonderful to spend more time with the Gray family and read about their love and respect for each other even as they bicker about the small things. Taylor is definitely the strongest member of the family but she's going to have to make some decisions soon -- should she work less so that she can continue her relationship with Sam or can she have her happily ever after as she continues the work that she loves? Book 9 in the series Blackbeard is due to publish in April, 2024 and I'm really looking forward to going back to Hart's Ridge to visit the Gray family.
Starting Over. Yes, the title of my review and the title of this book are the same, because I want to emphasize just how well Bratt titled this particular story. Yet again, we get a pulse pounding crime unfortunately based on real-world events in the South, in this particular case (as the prologue shows, so no real spoilers here) an abduction from a Walmart parking lot. And there is a lot of action in this particular case, including hiking through one park I'm very familiar with and another I've been to a few times - Amicalola State Park and Unicoi State Park, respectively, both in the North Georgia mountain region. In particular, the camping areas, trails, even the hike-inn that Bratt mentions were all part of my teens in particular, with several trips out there from my home town not very far away.
But as always with this series, this tale is about the small town and family relationships as much as it is about the crime of the book, and it is here that we truly get a sense of this series - that was supposed to end here - is actually "starting over", in all the best possible ways. We get a return to the true roots of this series, but with everyone involved in different situations than they were in at the actual beginning of the series. Being told with Bratt's usual careful yet evocative styling, this book will leave you particularly glad the series is "starting over" rather than concluding here as was originally intended. Very much recommended.
The latest book in the Hart’s Ridge series includes a dual plot involving Deputy Taylor Gray and her mother Cate. Taylor is involved in finding a missing mother who was kidnapped from the Walmart parking lot, and this story is absolutely riveting and gut-wrenching. The setting moves around the state as Taylor and her colleagues follow leads to try to find Lydia Grimes. Meanwhile, at home, Cate is recovering from her bullet wound and reluctantly allows a newcomer named Sutton to help her with her meals and rehab. Sutton is a welcome new face to the characters of Hart’s Ridge, with her own backstory and a real love for people in spite of her personal trials. All of the characters are relatable and I found myself telling them what their next step should be. The main plot and subplots are woven together seamlessly and the interactions between the characters are realistic and at times heartbreaking. I really enjoyed getting to know Alice better as her background is revealed more in this book. The stories that take place in Hart’s Ridge teach lessons and the outstanding one in this book is one of forgiving and allowing people to start over again with a clean slate. The pace is quick and the plot is compelling, so this book is hard to put down and impossible to forget the real-life crime behind the fictional one portrayed here. Fans of family drama, police procedurals and good contemporary fiction will enjoy this book and this entire series. This is the eighth book in the Hart’s Ridge series it was full of plot twist and new and old characters. Each time I say the book I’ve read was the best and then the next one comes out. By the way there will be a book nine pub date not released yet. This was a true crime and a love story all tied up in a neat box. The story starts out with a young mom and wife of a deputy out shopping at Walmart. She’s been abducted from her car, the criminals proceeded to drive her to an ATM no one hears from her after that. Taylor springs into action as it’s a fellow officers wife and in the words of Taylor family from the force. Taylor and Sam continue their relationship with a new twist Alice. Alice is Sam’s daughter who they rescued from her mother’s house. Paternity is established and Taylor and Sam continue their life with Alice. Cate is recovering from the gunshot injuries she had. She’s still secretly in love with Ellis but won’t budge a bit. She’s a classy lady trying to find her way in the world after a stint in prison for a crime she was innocent of. We briefly check in with the other daughters we’ve known to love with their families. Kay Bratt has a winner in this Hart’s Ridge hopefully she’s slow down next year eight books is a lot to commit to in a year. But knowing Kay she’s got a few more books coming out next year. Won’t put in any spoilers as it’s worth reading the other books.
Another captivating book from Kay Bratt, which I couldn't put down. These are part mystery books, based upon real-life crimes and part family saga, with the Gray family at its heart.
The Grays have their own share of problems after tradegy affected the whole family when the 4 sisters were young. Taylor, now a Sheriffs' Deputy, looked after her 3 sisters when they found themselves in and out of foster care.
This book sees the wife of a Sherrifs' Deputy abducted by criminals, and the whole Harts Ridge County Sheriffs department works together to try and find her.
The Sheriff asks Taylor for a favour, something he has never asked for before. As he kept an eye on Taylor when she was young, and was instrumental in getting Taylor on his team, she feels she can not refuse; however, the favour involves Cate, Taylor's Mum, and she's not sure she will agree.
Alice is staying with Sam, but he still needs to find out if she really is his daughter. With Taylor not around much, he's having to deal with everything himself, and he's missing her.
These are great books and are really hard to put down once you start reading them. The books are best read in the order they are published in to preserve the ongoing storylines that weave the books together.
Book 9 is already downloaded, and I can not wait to start reading it. I'm so pleased that the author has decided to extend the number of books in the series.
I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Starting Over by Kay Bratt and what a journey it has been!
Starting Over by Kay Bratt is the 8th book in the Hart’s Ridge series. If you haven’t read any I highly recommend that you start with book 1, Hart’s Ridge, and work through them all. That way you will fully understand where our characters have been, what has happened to them all. Kay Bratt doesn’t waste time in a book rehashing back stories, she gets on with the story in hand. Warning though, you may lose sleep 😁
Starting Over begins when Lydia, the wife of one of Taylor’s colleagues, goes missing during a shopping trip to Walmart. Any missing person is bad enough but the wife of a police officer means all the stops are pulled out to ensure her safe return.
True to form for Kay, the plot to save Lydia is not the only thing happening in this small American town. Taylors mother, Cate, befriends a woman accused of embezzlement, but has she really stolen the money?
Some other stories from previous books are also concluded as Kay Bratt skilfully weaves this latest episode of life in Hart’s Ridge.
Lydia, the wife of one of Taylor’s colleagues, goes missing from a shopping trip. No stone is left unturned as the search to find her begins. There are few leads and, as each day passes, the more likely it is that there won’t be a happy ending. While the search for Lydia is ongoing, another young girl goes missing and the cases are determined to be related. The suspects are eventually captured, but will local law enforcement and the FBI be able to get the information they need from them in time to save the two women?
While Taylor is kept busy at work, her mother, Cate, has been asked to let an individual she doesn’t know be her caretaker while she’s recovering from being shot. Cate doesn’t like the idea at all, especially after she hears the reasons for the request. She likes her privacy. But once she meets Sutton, who has been accused of embezzlement, they slowly start to build a friendship. When Cate finally learns the truth about Sutton, she vows to help her in any way she can.
I love this series by Kay Bratt! I’m glad to know there are more stories in the works.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wow – well, what can I say? Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better and better. I thought the last one was the best, but I’m changing my story…this one trumped it. The story introduces more new characters who just add to the perfect ‘family’ of people that you genuinely want to know more about. There is, of course, a mystery (or two) that needs to be solved, and you are drawn in to that very quickly and easily. It’s a fast moving story and I was done with the book before I wanted it to be over. Once again, Kay Bratt leaves us with a cliffhanger and wanting more and more and more. I am glad that she has publicly admitted that this series will not end here. I think it could honestly go on for 10 more books (hint, hint)…. If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for? You are missing out BIG TIME! Get the books and join the fun, so you can be on pins and needles with the rest of us.
This book "Starting Over" is the 8th installment of the Hart's Ridge series. A really captivating story with a crime and lots of action. There an investigation to find Lydia, the local deputy's wife. The family of Taylor that the reader is accustomed to is very much part of this story. Cate is slowly trying to recover from the trauma caused to her when she was injured. There are new people that come into the picture, giving more life to the story. The investigation takes them to different places when trying to solve the whereabouts of Lydia. Sam is also caring for Alice a daughter he didn't know he had. The book title does correspond well to the story, Kay Bratt did it again and captured us with this suspenseful opus. The story wasn't predictable meaning the reader was taken in different directions and also guessing. A fabulous read with a little of everything in the recipe! Charlotte N
As Taylor and Sam are trying to figure out if Alice is really Sam's daughter and where their relationship is going along comes a horrible case. This one close to her ranks. As she and her counterparts work hours to try and solve their case they are drawn away from their town to search other areas. Trying to solve one case they are drawn into another one like theirs. Meanwhile Cate is still trying to recover from her wounds physically and mentally. And someone new comes into her life!! Someone who needs her help to recover. Cate' s experience s will help her with this new relationship and give her purpose. Will she get back with Ellis or Jackson, read on. Sam and Taylor will take the next step, which is? And what will happen next in the Gray family. Can' t wait to find out. Great book Kay!! And love that Beauty and Beast are here.
There are several story lines in this great book. Taylor is working all out on a missing person's case that is near to her heart. They know who did it, but they can't find the guys and they can't find the missing woman.
Meanwhile, her fiance's getting used to a young girl in his life and determining if she's really his because he'd had no idea that she existed. And Kate has taken in a hard working woman who will be going on trial for something she says she did, but with the right intentions. That's all that Cate knows, but she knows about going to jail for something she didn't do.
This is a book that draws heavily from prior books in the series so I strongly recommend that you read the earlier books first - but that will not be a burden. This series is wonderfully written and the characters are people you'd want to know.
I love this series so, so much! After eight wonderful installments, this whole family has become my family. I am totally captivated by their lives and genially care about what they are going through.
As Taylor and her coworkers work to solve a kidnapping that turns into so much more, Cate is at home recovering from her trauma. And to assist in this recovery, she has to open her home and her heart to a stranger. Life is hard.
Each one of Kay's stories in this series is better than the last with this one being my new favorite! The way she blends a crime story with the personal relationships that are happening make these stories so enticing to read. I fly through each one and anxiously await the next one.
The Hart's Ridge Series is amazing and I highly recommend it. Book #9 in scheduled to be released in April, 2024 and I can't wait!
Book 8 in the Hart’s Ridge series did not disappoint. This series has showcased the Gray family and their perseverance and strength they show in supporting each other. They demonstrate that life can be messy but family is forever.
The small town of Hart’s Ridge faces another challenge as the wife of one of their law enforcement family is abducted one evening. The team rallies to help find her, giving their all. As you read through the pages, you can feel their desperation and drive to solve this crime.
We are given more insight into Cate as she struggles with trusting others, letting her guard down to trust others, to give herself permission to heal and allow love into her life again.
Taylor also struggles, using her job as a means to avoid committing and allowing herself to be happy.
Kay Bratt has written such a heart wrenching story in Book 8 of the Hart’s Ridge series, Starting Over’. The abduction of a deputy sheriff’s wife, Lydia Grimes’ family is grieving and praying she will be found and returned to them, alive. Sam, Taylor’s fiancé, is struggling with family problems of his own while Taylor is tied up on this case. Cate is recovering from her gunshot wound at the end of Book #7, but is also struggling with her romantic life. In the midst of all this we meet Sutton, who moves in with Cate to aid her in her recovery and physical therapy. Sutton ,who is being accused of embezzlement, has secrets she is not ready to reveal. Because of the abduction, Taylor’s time is not her own as she is working with the FBI, and missing Sam, Alice, and the rest of the Grey family. Such a spectacular read, so much so that it was difficult to put down.
The prologue of Starting Over sets the pace for this latest Hart's Ridge thriller. No spoiler here - Lydia Grimes, the wife of a Hart's Ridge deputy is kidnapped by 2 desperate men. Deputy Taylor Gray and the entire Sheriff's Department expend hours and hours in an attempt to locate Lydia and bring her home to her husband and children. In the midst of this investigation, Sheriff's Dawkins approaches Taylor with a personal request to help his niece, Sutton Scott who finds herself in a possible criminal situation. Taylor is overwhelmed and stressed out. Will her own family life be jeopardized while she works tirelessly to be a dedicated deputy?
I highly recommend this series. Each book builds on the previous one with an ever increasing level of suspense.
#8 in the Hart's Ridge Series and it is definitely an intense story coming your way! There is more drama, suspense and family difficulties in this novel as the Gray clan learn of a tragedy. I love these characters as they navigate and learn to forgive and hope that life will go on for their family. They take care of each other! We should all be this fortunate.
I believe that each story in this series is the best, #8 really is emotional, and you cannot help but to get caught up in the story and feel as if you are there with these folks!
I recommend starting with the very first book in this series to get to know each character. Once again, well done and thank you to Kay Bratt for all of these amazing books!
STARTING OVER by Kay Bratt Release date December 19,2023
I absolutely love this series. So happy that Kay has decided to continue it. I think we are all wanting to see Deputy Taylor Gray get the happy life she deserves.
The story starts with an abduction in a Walmart parking lot. The wife of a police officer. One of their own! While trying to solve this kidnapping, Taylor tries to help a coworker who needs help with his niece. A little reluctantly Taylor does end up asking her mother Cate to help out with this young lady. As always, Kate knows how to write a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you are looking for a book with mystery, suspense dysfunction, and Luv, and this is the book for you. I can’t wait for book number nine of Hart’s Ridge.
I have read all of the current books in the Hart's Ridge series; book 8 is even better than the previous books, which is hard to do! In this book we get to ride along with Taylor and see how she immerses herself into the crimes she tries to solve. The abduction of Lydia Grimes did not turn out like the readers hoped for. Unfortunately, this story could be ripped from the pages of any newspaper headline in the world we live in! Along with the sadness there were many more heartwarming stories with the Gray family and their significant others. As she always does Kay Bratt leaves us thinking about this story and wanting more!
