This series continues to hit all the sweet spots for me: mystery, family dynamics, and great dogs among them. Book Six centers on Taylor and Lucy. We find out more about Lucy’s backstory and see her finally (hopefully!) ready to move on to a better place emotionally and mentally. Taylor continues to work on her rape case as well as solving a murder and helping end Lucy’s mystery. There’s also a happy event and a cliffhanger at at the end that will make you want more as soon as Kay can write it!
This is the sixth book. Lucy is being stalked by the father of her son. Taylor is pulled into a murder investigation that is personal to her. The Gray family is dealing with turmoil by being a family.
Book 6 of the Hart’s Ridge Series. I would recommend you read the previous books first. There are quite a few characters and background that might be hard to follow if you haven’t read them, more so in this one than the previous.
The Grey sisters are continuing with the drama. Taylor, oldest sister, always looking out for others whether it’s her sisters or her community as a Deputy Sheriff. Lucy, the youngest, a Mom just trying to find her place, purpose and who drama seems to follow around. Each has a lot on her plate. Characters are faced with problems that are current and relatable.
With Bratt, art imitates life, and she pours her life experiences and passion into every book. I’ve totally enjoyed this series, and look forward to the next 2. She catches me off guard with who she decides to kill off, sometimes making me yell “No Way”. Fast paced, quick read about a place that has become comfortable and people that have become friends and family. Just when you think she’s wrapping things up in a neat little bow, she’ll throw in a cliff hanger. There were a lot of new and past characters mentioned, I found myself racking my brain as to who some were.
I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.
I was so happy to be able to revisit Hart’s Ridge where all the drama and excitement of the small town keeps you on the edge of your seat. Nobody Told Me is the 6th installment in Kay Bratt’s new series and it has rapidly become my most favorite book series of all time. This book centers mainly around Taylor and her youngest sister Lucy. It goes deeper into detail about Lucy’s troubled past and hopefully puts an end to it so maybe she can start to live a happy, normal life with her son Johnny. Taylor, a deputy on the police force, has to help solve a local murder case that hits close to home and it really takes an emotional toll on her. My favorite part about this whole story was what happens at the very end. Taylor gets the most beautiful surprise from both Sam and Diesel. But that’s not the only surprise as this book ends with a really big cliffhanger. It has left me anxiously awaiting Hello Goodbye to see where the story goes from there. This is a series I can’t recommend enough. However, I do suggest you start reading right from the very beginning so you won’t miss a thing. I promise you, you’ll be really glad you did because Hart’s Ridge is so very good! It’s family oriented with a touch of mystery and police procedurals all wrapped up into one.
This book focuses on Taylor and Lucy. Their relationship with each other, the people around them, the past and the present. We the reader, get to dive into their sibling past, present, jealousy and love and concern. We get more of Lucy’s past as it seems to be catching up with her. This book is a fantastic addition to this series and I can’t wait for more.
This series and this author are forever on my TBR list!
Privileged to have an ARC This is the best book of the series and perhaps the best of this summer. Lots of twists and turns - reminders that thus life isn’t forever and should be cherished - and it is possible for people to change. And what a surprise ending. If you haven’t preordered do so right away !!
"Nobody Told Me" Book #6 in The Hart's Ridge Series, what can I say besides another 5 stars! You've done it again Kay Bratt. Each book keeps getting better than the last book.
Once again there's a murder to solve, suspense, mystery and such believable characters that I have become very attached to.
I can't wait for the next book to see what happens in the lives of this small town mystery series.
You could read this book as a stand a lone but I would really suggest you start from Book 1, "Hart's Ridge" and read them all!
Jarrett was a young man who had come to the Rescue Center to see if he could get a job. He was not involved in sports and had few friends to hang with, so he wanted to work to help out his mother. He turned out to be a great worker who would do anything he was asked to do and he loved the dogs. he also liked playing with the kids, Levi, Bronwyn, and Teague when he got a chance. He would welcome them when he was working and give them small jobs to do. The whole family fell for him and cared a great deal. However, one night, Taylor caught him and some other boys robbing a store. The others got away; but Jarrett was caught. Taylor was devastated. However, she went to bat for him in court and he got probation supervised by herself. He was very contrite. One night, his mother let him go to a bonfire with some friends since he had been trying so hard to stay out of trouble. A new girl, Chelsea Manzo, had invited him out just to make her boyfriend jealous. He didn't know this; but it worked and her boyfriend got really angry. Jarrett left the bonfire and headed home. Instead, he was waylaid and beaten severely then dragged to the lake and thrown in. He was found later, drowned. Taylor was determined to find his killers. Lucy had been feeling like she was followed. This feeling escalated to emails and things missing or moved in her house. When she went to a friend's to care for his dogs while he was in the hospital, one of his dogs was traumatized and abused in her kennel while Lucy was gone. The dog food stored in the shed was all opened and strewn around the shed. His gun that she had gotten out for protection when she went out to check on the dogs and found Ginger bound was stolen. Other, more serious things began happening. She was charged with vandalizing the apartment she had left in Atlanta and a car she had when she was a teen and was stolen but never reported, was found with a load of drugs in it. She was being held responsible for those drugs. The only one she could think of who would have the resources to do this was Maxwell Row. She had been his mistress for a time and had become pregnant from him. She had left him when she realized he was not going to leave his wife for her. Now, she thought it was him trying to get her back or to get her son. She left Johnny with Taylor and her sisters and set out to set a trap for Maxwell. Would it work?
Book six of a series by one of my favorite author's. The Hart's Ridge series is great. Well written and each book has many twists and turns. They all capture a story from a headline that actually happened though the names are changed. They always make me gasp loudly when the tragedy is revealed. In this one I kept hoping it was not going to be who it was.
This book is focused mainly on Lucy and Taylor's relationship. Mostly Lucy and her past catching up with her. Lucy feels much guilt about things she did in her past and is also dealing with so much depression. Her life both when she was just a child and after she got older played a huge part in molding her. Her younger life was so tumultuous and without Taylor she does not think she would have survived. Even though she's made quite a few mistakes in her life she knows where she needs to be now. Her son depends on her. Her new dog depends on her. Her family is all she has and she loves them deeply.
Taylor has always had a sixth sense when it comes to Lucy. When she senses deep danger she responds. She sets out to rescue her no matter what. With Shane's help they take off to save Lucy from something big. What has Lucy gotten herself into this time. Come along to Hart's Ridge and you will find out. As Lucy sets off to right a wrong that is eating away at her. Hoping to stop all the things that have been popping up against her Lucy feels she can make it all go away if only she can see the person she believes is responsible.
There is also the missing teen who is very close to Taylor's heart. Can he be found in time and will he be ok? Also can Taylor finally find out who assaulted her so many years ago? Will her and Sam finally have a peaceful relationship? What will happen between them? Love is strong in this series as is the mystery in each book. They have two stories in each book and are all very heartfelt.
I love this series very much. Well written and just enough love to make it feel so real. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this for review.
Controversial Real Life Bleeds Into Story. I fully cop to the title of this review being clickbait, but it is also 100% true. Yet again Bratt brings elements of real-world cases and her real-world life into this particular series, and in this particular case the most obvious direct real world connection is also one of the more controversial things Bratt has ever done in her actual life since I've been reading her books since 2018 or so. But revealing exactly where that moment is in the book and what the direct connection is to her real life would be a spoiler... so read this book and see if you can spot where it might be, then follow Bratt on her social media channels to see if you were right. Yes, I'm plugging both the book and the author here, because to be quite honest both are equally great - even if I personally 100% disagree with the choice made both in the book and in real life - but Bratt manages to tell both stories quite compellingly, and it is her books and her life. :D
One word of caution though: This *is* Book 6 in a series, and in this case you really do need to read the prior books first to really have any real understanding of exactly where we are in this tale. Some more words of caution about the actual content: There is stalking, possible gaslighting, bullying, and a touch of animal neglect here (all on the part of the bad guys, to be sure), but Bratt manages to show these as exactly that - actions not to be condoned. Still, if those are absolute no-go issues for you for whatever reason, know that they're here.
Overall though, this was yet another compelling entry in a series that manages to combine both police procedural and family drama elements quite well, all while showing off the merits and perils of both policing and small town life - which is something few other books I've ever read have done quite so well. Very much recommended.
Nobody Told Me is the sixth book in the Hart’s Ridge series by Kay Bratt. Another crime in Hart’s Ridge hits home for Deputy Taylor Gray. She investigates the sudden disappearance of Jarret Clark, a young man who holds a special place in her life. She hopes for the best but fears the worst. Her sister, Lucy, is working on starting her life over with her son, Johnny. As she sets out on her path of self-discovery, Lucy realizes that it’s not as straightforward as she thought. Not only does she have to deal with her personal issues, she discovers someone is trying to destroy her life. While she thinks she knows who it is, she must decide when enough’s enough and confront her tormentor. Will Lucy find the strength to truly change for the better? Will she stand up and fight back? Will Taylor solve the mystery of Jarret’s disappearance before it’s too late? The Hart’s Ridge series has it all: crimes inspired by true stories, family drama and a small town setting. It is important to read this series in order and I have enjoyed it since Hart’s Ridge (book 1). I’m not sure what it was; but the story in Nobody Told Me felt a little off. I can’t quite put my finger on it. It was fast paced. It held my attention but I wasn’t exactly wowed by it. I love that many characters who were featured in previous books made appearances. I loved the ending and the cliffhanger that I am, of course, eagerly awaiting book 7 to read the fallout. While Lucy’s stalker was a bit of a surprise, I kept expecting someone else from her past to pop up again. Maybe they will? Despite it all, I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend Nobody Told Me. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Nobody Told Me is available in paperback and eBook
If you love small towns and beautiful mountain settings, you are in for a treat! Nobody Told Me is the sixth book in the Hart’s Ridge mystery series, set in the fictional town by the same name nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
In book one (Hart’s Ridge) you meet Taylor Gray (the only female Sheriff’s Deputy in Hart’s Ridge) and her dysfunctional family consisting of her father, 3 sisters, and her (estranged) mother, Cate who has recently been thrown back into the mix. True to form, (because if you know Kay Bratt there are always dogs, which I love), there are lots of furry friends to make you smile.
Nobody Told me focuses once again on Lucy. Although she thought her troubles were behind her, she feels now like someone from her past may be stalking her and is deliberately trying to sabotage her life. Is someone really out to get her? Or is it her depression and anxiety getting the best of her? Lucy doesn’t like to let anyone “in” to help her, not even her family. Sometimes though, even the strongest of people need someone they can count on.
Taylor continues to investigate her own personal case to try and find the perpetrator on her own because she doesn’t want to disclose the attack to her coworkers. Meanwhile a teen boy (Jarret) that Taylor has taken under her wing disappears, and Taylor’s team leads the investigation to find him.
Like the five preceding books, Nobody Told Me is also loosely based on a real-life crime! Since I am not one to ruin the story by retelling it, I will just leave it there. Nobody Told Me was an excellent, heart pounding, fast read for me, and I highly recommend it! True to form Kay Bratt left us wanting more! I can hardly wait for book 7 in the series!
The Hart’s Ridge series just keeps getting better and better, even though each book may easily be read as a standalone. This is the sixth book in the series and features Deputy Taylor Gray and her younger sister Lucy. Taylor is caught up in solving the mystery of a missing young man from the community while Lucy is trapped in the cycle of being unable to escape her past mistakes. Together, these sisters are a formidable pair, but first they have to realize how much they truly need each other. The book dedicates a lot of the plot to getting to know background, where they are living now and offers a thorough description of the dog rescue that they are currently running as a family. I really enjoyed the glimpse into their past as well as the information about their pasts that helped me better understand the choices they make as characters. The plot moves at a steady pace and the characters are realistic and likable. I particularly enjoyed getting to know Ginger, the new dog that Lucy rescues and who ends up being the hero of the story. Expertly crafted by master storyteller Kay Bratt, this book includes broken relationships, reconciliations, romance, family drama and adorable dogs. It is a fantastic addition to the series and one not to be missed! I am hooked on Kay Bratt's writing and on her Hart's Ridge series in particular. Each book is really a stand-alone story but each book also builds on the story from the previous books. This 6th book tells more of the story of sister Lucy and helps to resolve the open ends from her story in previous books. It also ends with an event that makes you really anxious for book 7. And disappointed because you know that book 7 is the end of the series. I wish it could go on forever.

If you're a fan of small-town mysteries with well-drawn characters and an engrossing plot, then you won't want to miss Nobody Told Me, the latest installment in the Hart's Ridge series.
Book 6 in the series concentrates on Taylor and Lucy - two totally different sisters. Taylor was the oldest and always felt responsible for the other sisters. Lucy was the youngest and she's managed to get into trouble her entire life.
Taylor is exhausted. Along with her job as a deputy and helping to run the animal rescue at her farm, she's trying to find out who was responsible for her rape years earlier. They get a hit using familial dna but then they have to create a family tree to find out who in the family is guilty. When a young man who helps at the rescue center gets arrested, the judge asks her to keep watch on him. When he disappears, she's frantic to find him and when his body is found, she knows that it isn't just a drowning and works around the clock to find out what happened to the young man that everyone at the farm liked.
Lucy is trying to start a new life with her son. But things keep happening and she realizes that someone is watching her. She's sure that it's the rich guy who is the father of her son (but doesn't know about this son). When she finally tells Taylor about it, Taylor is skeptical Lucy has always had a vivid imagination and been in a lot of trouble but no one takes her seriously until its almost too late.
I thought that this book was the best in the series so far. There's a lot going on and several mysteries that need to be solved. I am really enjoying this series and the characters in it. Can't wait for book 7 and 8!
This is book six in Kay Bratt's Hart's Ridge series. I have loved this series from the very beginning. I just love the Gray sisters and their family dynamic. Even though they have their problems, they are always going to stand up for each other.
In this installment, the focus is more on Taylor & Lucy. We find out more about Lucy's troubled past which she is trying to escape. Some things are happening that Lucy is blamed for, but Shane believes something else is going on, so he investigates. Is Lucy's past about to catch up with her!!
The small town in rocked by the news of a local teen's disappearance, who was later found dead. It is assumed he was drinking and wandered into the lake and drowned, but could there have been foul play!! Deputy Taylor Gray is determined to find out. Lucy's dog, Ginger, also has a bit of a starring role.
As usual, the author takes us on a fast-paced roller coaster ride to solve these mysteries with an ending I didn't see coming. And who doesn't love a book with dogs!! I definitely recommend this series. Even though you can read these books as a standalone, it's better to read them in order, as the series mentions many characters, and you get to know the Gray girls. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
The author usually takes her stories from real life. She explains in a note at the end of the book about the real life Jarrett and how he was the inspiration for this story in the book.
You know I love Kay Bratt's Hart's Ridge series, and I was privileged to receive an ARC before the publication date. Again, we have Taylor Grey, the main character who runs throughout the series. She is the older sister and a cop in the small town of Hart's Ridge. Each story concentrates on a specific crime that has been committed, and each book's crime is based on something that has happened in reality. This time it is about the disappearance and suspicious death of a young lad known to Taylor and her family, as well as her also investigating another assault that was committed against her a few years before. The other person who Nobody Told Me concentrates on is the younger sister, Lucy. We were already introduced to her in a previous story and learned of one part of her past. However, another secret in her life is unearthed and stalker issues cause her great distress. Together with her daily load of work and helping out at the family shelter, Taylor tries to assist her youngest sister but is filled with scepticism based on past experiences. However, after a good few twists and turns, they come together and there are several great plot endings, as well as more to really get us ready for the next couple of books! An engaging, fabulous read as always!
NOBODY TOLD ME is Book 6 in the Hart’s Ridge small-town mystery series by Kay Bratt. I loved the first five books and couldn’t wait to get back to Hart’s Ridge and the Gray family. This story focuses on Deputy Taylor Gray and her sister, Lucy. Taylor is spread quite thin these days. Outside of her own personal life, Taylor is called to aid in the investigation of the disappearance of a young man who works at her family’s animal sanctuary and is also a well-loved friend of her family. She also continues to work on identifying the perpetrator in her own sexual assault case. Luckily, she has Sam and their faithful dog, Diesel, to support her. Lucy is trying to get her life back on track so she and her young son can have a happy and stable life. Unfortunately, her past seems to have caught up with her. Lucy believes she is being stalked by someone from her past and she fears for her safety and that of her son. Although Taylor wants to help, Lucy is reluctant to bring any more trouble to her family. The story is filled with drama, suspense and twists and turns I never saw coming. I can’t wait to read the next book in this exciting series. Thank you to Kay Bratt for the chance to read and review an early copy.
Nobody Told Me is part of the Hart’s Ridge series which follows the lives, loves and family issues of the Gray sisters. The eldest sister, Taylor is a deputy who juggles her job along with trying to keep her family together while managing somehow to have a life of her own.
One sister, Lucy, has now returned home along with her son after some issues with two men in her life, one being the father of her child. She escapes to stay with Taylor until she can get her life back together for herself and her son. Trouble seems to be following Lucy no matter what she does and Taylor must come to her rescue once again.
There are so many problems in this book that keep the Gray sisters gathering together for support including their mother who is now working to get her life back after serving twenty years in prison for the death of her son in a fire. She was finally found innocent after many years. They all work together in a new business caring for dogs which keeps the family busy. The dogs prove to be man’s or woman’s best friend.
This is an enjoyable series with something always happening in the life of the Gray sisters.
The sixth book in the Hart’s Ridge series by Kay Bratt and, as with the others, it dies not disappoint.
The Hart’s Ridge series follows the fortunes of Taylor Grey and her family. If you have not read these books previously I strongly recommend you start with the first one (Hart’s Ridge) and enjoy them all in order as Kay Bratt does not waste time rehashing a lot of what has already happened in previous books but gets right into the story at hand.
Nobody Told Me focuses on the youngest sister, Lucy. Lucy has had a turbulent history (throughout the previous books) and now things seem to be going better for her. Or are they?
I don’t do spoilers but sometimes a characters past comes back to haunt them in a way no one ever imagined.
Read Nobody Told Me with its intriguing plot and the other interwoven layers of the other characters lives to find out more.
I for one cannot wait to read the next in series, Hello, Goodbye.
Nobody Told Me By Kay Bratt Comes out August 22 2023
This is an eight book series centered in Hart’s Ridge. This is book number six. But don’t let that scare you away because they can be read as standalone’s.
The story is about two of the sisters. Taylor is the oldest, and she is a police detective. And Lucy is the youngest, and seems to always have trouble following her. Taylor is just exhausted! With trying to help Lucy out of her current set of troubles, finding the killer of a young man she was close to, and working on her own rape case from years ago! There finally might be a lead!
This book will definitely keep you reading. There is drama, excitement and some romance. A book that has a little bit of it all. Here is the list of the complete series you really don’t want to miss any ! Hart’s Ridge Lucy in the sky In my life Borrow times Instant Karma Nobody told me 8/22/2023 Hello goodbye 10/17/2023 Starting over 12/19/2023
Thank you Kay Bratt for this ARC. And this is my honest review.
Best book of the series so far! Wait--do I say that with every book in this series? Probably, because they just seem to keep getting better and better.
Bratt has created a series full of family drama, family love, romance, danger, mystery, and murder. It all comes together in this series centered around a family of women. The main storyline in Nobody Told Me involves Lucy and her past. She broke it off with a man when she discovered he had a family, but someone is now stalking her. Does he know about their son? What does she have to do to stop it?
As always, Taylor plays a huge part in the story. Will her police background enable her to keep her sister safe? She's a very busy lady, because there's also a murder to solve.
Great series of stories. I really anticipate every book in the series. Bratt is a masterful storyteller that provides readers with hours of enjoyment!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
I received an ARC copy of this book for review. Nobody Told Me continues the Hart’s Ridge series. I loved the story. I feel like I am visiting friends, Taylor and Lucy. The two sisters are so different. Taylor likes her family to be safe and predictable, and under her protection. Lucy is extremely independent and tries to solve her own problems. The town of Hart’s Ridge has a missing teenage boy. Taylor works on the case and gets some suspicious witness statements from the last group to see him. Then witnesses come forward with shocking news that will break the case open. Taylor is also working on her own personal case that needs genealogy to find a suspect. Lucy has a stalker who gets closer and closer to her. Instead of trusting her law officer sister, Lucy thinks she can handle it herself. Will her independent nature leave her vulnerable? Take the trip to Hart’s Ridge and find out! The ending is a huge page turner!
The Past Haunts the Present This book is the sixth in a series that should be read in order. Each book is a complete story, but breadcrumbs are spread for the next episode. This book has quite a bit of suspense, death, and police work. As the cases come to their final conclusion, the story is less about dogs and police work, and more about romance. The story is clean with no foul language, no gore, little violence, and no graphic sex. I have been binge-reading the series and have now come to a hard stop. I promised myself that I would never read any more stories by any author who used that tired line to answer a marriage proposal, 'Yes, Yes, A thousand times yes!' Not only do I doubt that any woman in her right mind has ever said this, but I am even more confident that a Deputy Sheriff would never say that! I am also very tired of writers who give the universe all of the blame and all of the credit for things that happen in life. Blech!
Nobody Told Me is another exciting installment of the Hart's Ridge series. Not only is there a case for Deputy Taylor to solve—this one hitting close to home for her—but then Lucy has her own drama to deal with. It someone stalking her.... or is her imagination just playing tricks on her?
In my opinion, book six has a more intense feel to it than the previous stories. There is definitely something sinister going on and I was on the edge of my seat several times, hoping that every one was going to be okay. And then there was the unexpected twist to wrap it all up.
I love this series and am always anxiously waiting for the next installment. And then I devour it! These are stories you don't want to miss. I know you'll look forward to them, just like I do. I highly recommend the whole series. Hello, Goodbye, book #7, is coming out on November 16th!
This is another great book in the Hart's Ridge series! We are again back to the town of Hart's Ridge where, we can follow the developments within Taylor's family. The storytelling is partly about what Taylor dealt with in the past with the help of Sam. There is also Lucy who is trying very hard to manage with her life, her past is catching-up with her. Crime unravels and shocks many people. Taylor fights to find out the truth and follows all possible leads to find justice for Jarrett's mother and his memory. The storytelling keeps the reader busy. This is family life and how the members stick together no matter what. This books has what it takes to make it a very interesting read and, I can hardly wait for the next book in the series. This book didn't disappoint and wasn't predictable. I can highly recommend this read. Thank you charlotte N
I’m addicted to this series. It’s the perfect blend of women’s fiction and mystery, it truly has a little bit of everything in it. It reminds me a bit of Virgin River series by Robyn Carr. This series has a HUGE heart. Taylor literally is the heart of her family, and how she has carried them and there burdens to a safer place is amazing. Especially with the personal tragedies that she carry’s daily. And I’ll just say this. I love Sam. How the author also integrates great mysteries into the story is so fascinating. Taylor is a cop and how her mind works really keeps the balance of the story lines. It truly is the perfect blend of mystery and women’s fiction.
I highly recommend starting with the short story that will break your heart a bit. And diving into this series. You won’t be sorry visiting Hart’s Ridge.
If you like cosy mystery set in small towns which centre around a family, then this is the series for you. Each book is a standalone mystery based loosely on a real-life crime with an ongoing storyline about the main family characters.
The Gray family is at the heart of these books, with Taylor, a deputy in the local police department being the main character, her sisters and mum make up the rest of the family with partners and children too.
Lucy is the sister this book concentrates on, her life while she was living away from the family coming back to cause difficulties now.
The mystery in this book is when a young helper at the dog rescue the family run, goes missing, totally out of character for him, what has happened.
The books in this series are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
Deputy Taylor Gray is busy with her job, the family’s animal shelter, and a cold case involving herself. She’s devastated when a young employee of the shelter is found dead and is determined to bring those responsible to justice.
Younger sister Lucy is feeling a little out of sorts. Everyone’s lives seem to be getting better and hers seems to be stuck in a rut. She feels she’s being watched, and strange things start happening. Fearing for her own safety and that of her son, she believes she knows who is to blame and sets out to solve the problem on her own, but things don’t go quite as planned and she gets quite a surprise.
Another edge-of-your seat thriller!
