আজকের যুগেও এই জমিদারবাড়ির পেত্নি, পোড়োবাড়ির প্রেত, অভিশাপ, অমঙ্গল এবং অন্য আবর্জনা নিয়ে ভয়ের গল্প লেখা হয় ঠিকই, কিন্তু সে-সব বালখিল্য জিনিস আমি সচরাচর এড়িয়ে চলি। কোনো কারণে মনে হয়েছিল, এই বইয়ে হয়তো সে-সব থাকবে না। পড়তে গিয়ে বুঝলাম, চরম ঠকেছি।
'আতঙ্কের অষ্টরম্ভা' নাম দিলেই ভালো হত এই জঞ্জালটির।

This book is a collection of few short stories and a short novel... The theme of the stories are of supernatural and horror genre... The short stories are quite good, especially the first one and the last two ones... The best had been kept aside for the last, the short novel although a horror but it has good blend of social perspective and human perseverance for loved ones is quite nuanced way... I enjoyed the book quite a lot...
