This book is beautiful inside and out, from the cover art to the mini illustrations at the start of each chapter, to the description in the book of the world. Pan has created an excellent cast of characters for this gripping story. A complex story that is to be savoured and enjoyed, not skimmed and rushed.

The Life of Fire is a gripping fantasy set in the ancient kingdom of Erevos, where young Prince Aletheos must face dark magic, corrupt priests, and secrets from his own past. To protect those he loves, Aletheos embarks on a journey to seek ancient wisdom, but he soon discovers that the danger is closer than he thinks.

The world-building in this book is fantastic, pulling you right into its vivid and dangerous universe. Aletheos is a well-developed character, struggling with both external threats and inner demons. The plot is full of unexpected twists that keep the tension high, making it hard to put down.

Beyond the action, the story dives into themes like betrayal, legacy, and the search for truth. It’s more than just a fantasy adventure; it’s a tale of personal and spiritual growth.

This book is simply stunning. From the cover art, illustrations dotted for the different parts, to the story.
It's beautifully written, although my little brain at times struggled with parts.. I needed to reread a few bits for things to properly sink in, however the more I got into the book, the more I understood things. Which I think actually added to the story for me, as I felt i was learning along with the MC.
The story itself is great - lots of twists and turns. Beautiful descriptions and world building. I really got lost in this book.. deffinate heartache. I was in tears a few times. However, I am an overly emotional person. I really loved and got attached to many of the characters, which added to this ❤️

Extremely difficult read, I’m unable to figure out if it’s above my reading level and comprehension. Regardless i felt that the world wasn’t explained clearly. This book would’ve definitely benefited from a glossary, explaining the sun/moon cycles aswell as the spiritual terminology. The spiritual side is probably the most intriguing but unfortunately it isn’t explained and it felt like you needed to already know what the information was and how it was being worded to fully understand the dialogue.

Unfortunately had to DNF at half way as I still couldn’t understand what the aim was or what was truly happening.

I must admit I haven't read a lot of high fantasy yet and when I do read fantasy, of any kind, I prefer audio. I fully think that is part of the reason it took me a minute to get into The Life of Fire. That being said, I ended up really enjoying the book.

Prince Aletheo is an extremely likable character and I enjoyed reading about his journey and growth as the book went on. He not only has dangerous things happening around him, but he also is battling his inner demons, which made for a fascinating read.

Panagoitis Dimitriou did a fantastic job creating this world and his characters, which made for a really wonderful read. I highly recommend The Life of Fire.
