Book Five in the series that began with Small Town Rebel...
A seven-year marriage tested by temptation. A young woman craves a man she can never have. A spoiled housewife will do anything to keep her lifestyle. A lonely mother has a forbidden affair. A drug kingpin seeks to destroy the lawman on his tail -- by any means necessary. And a desperate felon makes a choice that will change everything...
Love, sin, betrayal and ultimate romance in a small town where there are no secrets and the lines of love and war are blurred...This is BOOK FIVE in the series. Contains strong language, dark themes, and references to infidelity. A friends-to-lovers romance about a black woman and a white man 'breaking code' in the deep south.
Marion grew up on a small island where everybody knew everybody. This no doubt inspired her love of drama and steamy tales.
She writes small town romance featuring diverse characters who love getting into trouble. Aggressive Alpha country boys and strong-willed heroines abound in these interracial sexy stories from America's heartland.
Marion's breakout novel "Small Town Rebel" introduced the town of Florin, Virginia which was inspired by a real place in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
In her free time Marion likes to read, crochet, and travel.
Every book in this series is literally worse than its predecessor, yet I keep reading hoping to re-capture the magic of Book 1. Bam and Taji were a waste of my good time. The women get stupider each book, and Taji takes the daggone cake - just saying one thing and doing the opposite, in literally the next breath. She stayed bending over backwards and enduring all kinds of nonsense for a married man, a Sheriff at that, who could put an end to said nonsense. No, thanks. The stuff with Taji's mother and Jerome, why? The sex isn't anywhere near as good as the first book, and hasn't been in any book since. This was a 1 star read, with an uptick of interest at the end for another half star.
As for Dee and Sebastian, two other idiots I was happy to be rid of in Book 4, about a third of this book is dedicated to them. Why? Le and sigh.
It's all on Ross now to bring it home; I'm not getting my hopes up. Rebel and Minnie are head and shoulders above the other couples and the best thing to happen to this series, with Roman, his wife, and Isaiah a decent second. Roman has been the best part of every book since Book 2, since Rebel and Minnie are wisely allowed to steer clear of this devolving debacle.
This series is a case of doing too much with the result being an unwieldy, incoherent, mess. I appreciate that the author tried to broaden the story, but the beauty of Book 1 was its clear-cut purpose, humor, wit and sexiness. Every book since has been too many storylines, plot holes, unanswered questions, characters that make no daggone sense, murder mysteries (WHY must authors ruin everything with murder plots??) and lackluster sex.
My problem with this series is that I am a lover of happy endings. None of these books are my idea of a happy ending. The characters lives are a mess. Nothing that I would remotely aspire to. The men all have too much baggage and the women capitulates too much to the men. The only relationship that I felt was noteworthy was Rebel and Minnie. The rest were a hot mess. In this story there was so many unanswered questions for me. There communication skills was lacking despite the hero and heroine referring to each other as best friends. I can not understand how a woman is a serial cheater and gets impregnated by another man and the town makes her husband’s mistress the villain in the demise of the marriage. Also what is the heroine’s age??? One part of the story said that her mom was 45 and had her at 15. Which would make her 30. Another part of the book said that she is 25. Also there was a discrepancy about the hero and smoking….silly stuff I know but these sorts of things throws me off.
Too many characters and stories going on at the same time. There's a lot of disconnected parts in this book so it's hard to follow. The sheriff and Taji start something when he's still married to his cheating wife after a period of safely toeing the line and not going beyond friendly dates. More than anything this book was just doing too much and at the same time not doing enough. I wish the author just picked a storyline and stuck to it .
The storyline was okay, the Sheriff's wife was something else. They had five are six different stories going on within the story. All I want to know is who did what and I have to wait until the next book come out.
This book irked my soul. But I finished it just to be more irked…. I’m not sure if it was because they were in the back woods or what but Bam is weak and although he has BD it lacks the E. Taji was weak and desperate for a man who wouldn’t defend her and weaponized his ignorance so that he NEVER dealt with the gossip. He cared more about Greta than he did her and I was not here for it. Also, idc how lonely her mama was or if they didn’t bump uglies. She was foul for what she did. Played in that girl face but looked down on her because the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. It’s giving blind pot. A lot of random holes in the story. Hoping they clear up next book because at this point I’m rage reading….
What a disappointment. This 5th book in the series is a far cry from the others, and not in a good way. The main characters, Bam and Taji, spend most of their time hooking up. There was little development of their relationship, and the plot was all over the place. Also, too much time was spent on other characters' romances which detracted from the main couple's story. The entire story felt hurried and thrown together. Not a good continuation of the series.
I really want to like this series, but man it seems like the more I read the worse the storylines get. I am not a fan of the cheating while married trope and Bam and Taji's storyline seemed rushed, silly, foolish, and unbelievable. It was nice to see Ross make a cameo in this book though, but I really want to know where is his book?!! Also, I really have had my fill (no pun intended) of this idea of all these big gorgeous men with big d**ks! How many times can we read about him slowly sliding his huge pecker into her center slowly because it's SO big and he don'twant to hurt her with it! Hahaha smh! All that talking to say that if the author writes another book in this series I'll read it, smh, in hopes she'll tie up all the lose ends for all the brothers especially.
The story continues from the last book with more Sebastián and Dee, bits of Roman, a touch of Minnie, and mention of Rebel. However, the focus is on Taji and Bam, the sheriff with bead on Roman. I wasn't feeling Taji and Bam as much as I did the others, but their story was good. The affairs, deceit, lies, and secrets really amped up here. I'm still pulling for food things for Sebastián and Dee. I want to see Roman survive and possibly change but not sure that can happen with manipulation he pulls. Bright spot here, we finally meet Ross. Looking forward to his book and the next happenings in Florin.
Not sure how to review this book. I was getting to like and admire Roman from the other books. Not so much now. I also was not expecting to sort of like the small town sheriff of Goldsville. I empathise with Sebastian and Dee but I don't think it will end well for them. I'm still hopeful for a satisfactory resolution with the next book and learn more about Ross. Too many lose ends need conclusions. Who are the family in Tenesee that Roman is visiting.?
This one kept me on edge! It was two stories in one. I like that. The storyline between Bam and Taji was a good one. Sebastian and Dee's story was good also. I'm glad we got to see what happened with them. I really hope nothing happens to Bam. Give him and Taji a chance to live. Great series!
I usually get bored reading series by now, but Small Town is holding my attention. The author introduces you to a new couple, while the ongoing plot and older characters are still running in the background. It’s better than many series you catch on cable. Can’t wait for volume 6.
My gosh I can't get enough of these characters. I wouldn't be upset if we got 20 more of these books. The author has a great way of giving just enough and I lobe how we learn things without being told in too much detail about what's going on. I found myself really routing for the characters in this book and I hoping for an HEA.
I always read the reader's reviews before reading a book. I am SO glad that I decided to read Small Town Sheriff despite what many people said. The relationships with Bam & Taji, and Sebastian & Dee, were all so intimate and relatable. Roman was just being who he has been throughout the 1-5 series; consistently himself. This is an excellent book/ read. 5🎇!
This book was full of everything but in the end karma caught up with everyone. Not one person saw what the end was happening to them until it was all over with. Not one person knew what the future was going to be until it all came to an end. Just hope the next book will tell what's really happening with everyone
This was my least favorite of the series so far. Mainly due to cheating aspect which I hate. Seb and Dee saved this for me and I loved seeing the other characters make their appearance as well. The Sheriff and T (can't even remember their names) were very hot, I must admit. However, their story was pretty lackluster compared to the others.
Taji and Bam!!! I mean they both acting like they didn’t expect the consequences they fell into taking their relationship going public. Why were they so surprised by all of it.
What want to know what happened to Greta. And why is she did. That was a shock to me. But a pretty good book.
This book wasn't a very nice story on romance. I became confused while reading the different couples names. I became very confused and thought I could have missed information somewhere in this romance. Well I hope that there was those readers that loved this story.
Not a fan of infidelity, but Greta was the “whore of Babylon “ how evil was one woman! Not a fan of psychic reading either. Dee and Sebastian are in deep trouble.Need more of Mama, Jerome and Ross .Need the mystery of Greta to be solved.
Ball of confusion???? I didn’t understand the parallel storylines. You’re following Bam & Taji then in slips Sebastian & Dee. I really enjoyed the other 4 books but this one was okay, it didn’t really come together for me.
As always the author did not disappoint with the story but Taji was a little hard to like. For an adult woman with “the gift” she made so many stupid decisions and mistakes with Bam and Greta. Nonetheless this saga continues to be good.
I liked this story but felt as if it was a bit rushed. Like she may have thought of it and made a separate book however it could have been added to the last book. So much more content could have been added.
Exciting, passionate, wild, intense, and romantic.
This book had everything that you could want and them some. The characters on the book were so well written that you could actually picture the town, the citizens, the mountain, and the back roads.
As much as people want to romanticize it and justify it bc of “the wife”, screwing married men is still wrong. Period. I liked the other books in the series but this one was a no for me.
I hope Seb gets away with, we'll see in the next book, i used to love Roman - not any more, what a piece of work, i hope his wife finds out abt his deal with Seb and leaves him
I have read all five of Ms Meadows’ Sins of the South Series. While this story was ostensibly about the Sheriff and his messy love life as he grappled with his cheating wife and his love for Taji, I was more invested in Sebastian and Dee. This very sweet, passionate couple deserved a break. I love how the characters overlap from book to book and hope in the future we will get some closure on Rain’s story. This time, even the elusive Ross had more page time and I hope his story is coming soon. I had almost forgotten how sinister Roman could be! Great addition to the collection.
What a ending.....all I can say is drama must be waiting like a spring board for the next book. So much drama and excitement. Just waiting to hear (read) the outcomes
