Second Chance

Love or Music…
Which should they choose and what price will they have to pay?

After a sell-out tour, Joe Killeen, lead guitarist and Tully’s trusted confidant, should be over the moon at the band’s success. Instead he’s worried about finances. None of them realised the costs were spiralling out of control. Now they need a hit to get them back on their feet.
The problem is their biggest songs so far are the ones Kit and Tully wrote together, but Kit isn’t in the band and Joe doesn’t want her writing any more of their songs.
Tully can’t write without Kit’s help and, as tension rises within the band, something has to give.
Love or Music… Which will it be?

Second chance is book 5 in the Kit & Tully series by Mocha Von Bee.
I really enjoyed the 5th book in the Kit & Tully series. Mocha is a brilliant story teller and the book has a brilliant cast of characters. Mocha's books are short enough to read in one sitting with short chapters, which makes for easy reading.
I enjoyed second Chance as much as the first four books in the Kit and Tully series. I highly recommend Second Chance and look forward to reading more by the author.
💖I was gifted a arc e book copy of the book from the author in exchange for a honest review.

“Second Chance” is book 5 in the Kit and Tully series written by Mocha Von Bee. This book is told from the perspective of Joe Killeen, the lead guitarist of the band Four. It was very interesting to get to know Joe better! I liked getting to see what he was thinking and feeling. I now better understand how strong his commitment to the band is and his reasons behind his dislike of Kit. I was surprised by how much more I like Joe’s character after reading his story. Seeing things from Joe’s point of view also helps the reader to see the other characters with fresh eyes and to better understand them, how they’ve changed, and how their relationships and emotional connections have altered. This book explores the tumultuousness, hope, ardor, and fervor of youth as the characters grow and change as people all while being surrounded by the mystery and danger of Aonghus and the inescapable question– love or music… which shall prevail? The scenes at the Scottish Castle were atmospheric and fun to read. The characters continue being three-dimensional and feeling like real people! The speed of the plot was great and the writing style is clear and smooth as always. I really like Kit and Tully and hope to see them continue to evolve and grow as people, while maintaining their emotional connection and affection for each other. Although, I still haven’t forgiven Tully! I also hope things work out for all the rest of the characters, including Felice, Spike, and even Mac. This series continues to be: compelling, fun, mysterious, atmospheric, and emotional. With a well-written and original story line, three-dimensional characters, a 1990s Irish setting, friendship, love, conflict, and danger all intertwined with the theme of Celtic Mythology. I highly recommend reading this book and series! Absolutely a 5 star read. Thank you very much to the author for providing me with a digital copy of “Second Chance” to read and review honestly.

I'm getting more and more used to the perspective changing each book and I like it even more now! Joe's not one of the characters who's particularly big in the earlier books so I thought he might be an even weirder choice than Mac but it worked so well with him being right there alongside Kit and Tully the whole time and seeing both sides of things. It gave kind of a dual POV with some of Kit's thoughts and Tully's thoughts when they both speak to him and worked really well. Plus he's a really likeable character!
Another great little novella in the Kit and Tully world and I'm loving seeing where everyone's lives are going, not just those two. And I'm still loving seeing how the little Celtic folklore story runs through too and what everyone suspects. I thought there were only 6 books in this series so I'm really excited to see there's going to be more than that! And looking forward to seeing whose POV they'll all be in, it's fun trying to guess who will be next!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author Mocha VonBee for an ARC copy of the book so I could write this honest review.

Another installment in the Kit and Tully series. It's a short little novella but was another perspective I didn't know I needed. It had been long enough since I'd read the first few books that Joe wasn't even on my radar but a book from this POV was good!

They are really in the thick of it now, with a new struggle and a new reason to wonder if this band will make it. Even though Kit and Tully push each other and write amazing songs, Joe doesn't want that to be how this works. I had no idea, with their big tour, to wonder about money or how their finances were. It was an interesting twist and I liked this one.

What will be in store next? Who knows but I definitely plan to find out!

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

I'm really late to the party. Second Chance is the part of a series of novellas charting an Irish band.

Second Chance is told from the point of view of guitarist Joe. The band have returned from a successful tour, only to discover - thanks to Joe's dad's accountant connections - that they're dead broke. The band have to cancel their upcoming tour and start recording their next album. The problem? Most of their hits have been co-written by lead singer Tully's girlfriend Kit. Band tensions slowly arise. As Joe fears, Tully can easily leave the band and write with Kit, leaving the others behind.

While you can read this without having read the previous ones and do a bit of catch up, I found that I missed a lot of the backstory so my enjoyment of this novella is hampered. There's some hints going on that involving some sort of mystical deal about choosing love or money (?).

This story is compelling enough that I'm going to go and start from the beginning AND purchase the next chapters. I'm hooked enough to want to see how this story ends.

Thanks to Indie Ink and NetGalley for the ARC.

Second Chance is Book 5 in the Kit & Tully series and is told from Joe Killeen’s point of view.

After a sell-out tour in the USA, the band return to Ireland on the crest of a wave of success. But behind the hype, the costs of the extended tour spiralled out of control. While everyone thinks their success equals untold wealth, the truth is they’re on the verge of bankruptcy.

Joe knows a hit can turn their fortunes round, but they need Kit to write the lyrics...

And Kit won’t write anything until she and Tully have figured out where their relationship is going... Can they rekindle the spark of First Love or will Music win the day?

Another blast novella from Mocha VonBee!

Joe become the narrator for the 5th book is so surprising, since I thought he got little presence in the previous books--but knowing how he's with Tully throughout the 3rd and 4th books and got to interact more with Kit on this book, I can understand why we're getting his POV. As he managed the band stuffs, he's also provide us the two sides of Tully and Kit's rocky relationship that never been the same again after they fall out and make up.

Not to mention how spooky it's when Mike did the tarot cards reading in the middle of the castle??? It gives me goosebumps and get overthinking as I feel it'll foreshadowing something as we get Aonghus' constant reminder of have to choose between love and music. I wonder will we get Spike's POV for the next book?
