Born and raised in Arizona, I guess you'd call me a desert rat. Well, actually, I'd be a desert rat that loves the mountains and lakes. Arizona gives me great pleasure, because if I'm not at the computer writing or buried nose deep in a book you'll find me on a four-wheeler, or a jet ski, or being pulled behind my 26’ Monterey boat on an oblong tube called a ‘hot dog’ laughing my ass off. In fact, my family says I have an unnerving cackle cutting through the waves--similar to a witch!
Yes, that's right this witch has a family... Bill is my wonderful husband of twenty-two years. Tia, Samantha and Ashley are my three beautiful girls and my greatest accomplishments to date. And the light of my life is a devilishly handsome grandson, Dusty.
As writing is a passion with many—it’s an obsession with me. Who knew that the wild things going on in my head someone would actually read? But I'm thankful you do and I hope you find joy and entertainment in my sometimes—okay most of the time—risqué ramblings.
First of all I want to say, I feel sick. I don't think I will be able to read anything else tonight, and when I do read another book...it's going to be a LIGHT book. I won't go into the storyline much. Auntee did a wonderful job with that, so I if you want to read more about the book, her review is great. Plus, I really don't want to give too much away. Just read the book. I almost put the book down and didn't finish it. I am not into F/F/M menages...well honestly, I am coming more around to reading menages in general, but I they still are not my favorite storyline. I still like the one on one intensity between a couple. But, I stuck with the book, knowing that there was more to it than the sex between the three...and I wasn't disappointed. I cried at the end of this book. Not the eyes watering up cry, but the ugly cry we sometimes have. I am just glad my sweet husband wasn't around...he would have thought I was crazy (non-readers just don't understand). Even though the ending was sad, it was quite happy too. I know this doesn't make any sense, but I don't know how it could have ended any other way. If you are offended by strong language and explict sex, well this book may not be for you. But, if you want to try it, my advice is to stick it out, because it really is a great read. Now, I am off to some lighter fare...maybe a good Erin McCarthy Vamp book....
This started out for me as one of those over-the-top, erotic reads where anything goes, and frankly, I was getting bored with it. I couldn't see where it was heading. And then, duh, I opened my eyes, and my mind, and started to think about the title. The title, Lisa's Gift, refers to the heroine's best friend, and the gift she gives to her. And then it dawned on me, and I started paying attention, and ta-da, I understood! And then I got emotionally involved, and it moved me enough that I got tears in my eyes. That's all I can say without giving anything away, but it really developed into a worthwhile read for me. I will give fair warning that it's not for the faint of heart; it is a little over the top sexually. But if you can get past that there is a really sensitive story here. I don't know if I've ever cried over an erotica before, but this one had me tearing up before I was through!
The first "major scene" of the book set my teeth on edge.... I comprehend NOW after finishing the book that it was "on purpose" but the moment our heroine saw that event broke my heart for her.....
It unfortunately set my feelings for the entire book, no reason/excuse or "reasonings", I never got over THAT moment of pain and heartbreak. It made me feel as if the heroine was "used" by the "selfless" BFF,& I NEVER warmed to Lisa, and the H was a waste of a great body and beautiful eyes.
I think it "triggered" a line in my mind that I was NOT wanting to cross..... I would have been ....ok.... with the MFF scenes had I felt that it was anything other than manipulation of the "poor h".
SPOILERS
The scene I reference was the h arriving back in a town she fled after a horrific attack by a family member, lets herself into the only "home" she ever felt safe in (her bff's childhood home) and comes upon her BFF having sex with the boy/now man that the h ALWAYS loved... crushed upon..... her dream man.... that was only the first to me "betrayal" the "hero" skulked/stalked her in house walked in on her in the bathroom... hit on her (without any hints of wth these two were upto), she was horrifed that she "still" wanted the now thought of smarmy hero despite her BFF being "his gf" she felt uncomfortable in her feelings as she was I think much more loyal of a friend to Lisa than Lisa was EVER to her.
They had sex in front of her at the kitchen table.... uh yeah.... watching in broad daylight my bff and my dream man having sex would definately make me think woo hoo .... NOT.
I did not see Lisa as selfless at all, I found her a domme who used a relatively new DOM in quite A manipulation, she managed to get her BFF to also bow to her and had she been this selfless paragon.... she would have backed out and away from the triangle she created "to help" her friend, instead even in their sex scenes she would try to take lead and be "favorite" thereby making sure her BFF knew she was still top dog.... the only times she managed to not be the center of the show was when she had headaches or had to work, otherwise it was the LISA SHOW.....
I know where the author was going and how the thought process ....might work..... but a battered child, a clueless dom wannabe, a dying manipulative domme did not get me there.
3 ½ stars - Contemporary Romance/Erotica/Menage/BDSM
Let me start off my review by saying that I usually prefer ménage romances that are about m/f/m relationships rather than f/m/f, but I gave this book a shot after reading positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. Lisa’s Gift has an interesting premise, but the choppy writing and over usage of internal dialogue are detriments to the story. This was one of those books where I wanted to scream out loud in frustration at the characters to actually just have a conversation with one another and express their feelings instead of them constantly internally analyzing everything to death. Also, I like a good BDSM erotic novel and don’t mind a sexy alpha/Dom male in the least, but I found myself rolling my eyes a few times at the “Milord” stuff in this story because it just seemed a tad over the top to me and not quite believable for the characters. I figured out the plot and “gift” from pretty much the beginning of the story, so no real surprises with the ending. There’s a nice HEA and like some other readers whose reviews I've read, I did shed a few tears. Overall, it’s a pretty good f/m/f ménage BDSM erotic romance with heart.
This book is chocka full of smoking hot sexual scenes and scenarios. It has M/F, F/M/F, F/F/M, & M/F/F/M, along with BDSM play, voyeurism and exhibitionism.
That said the plot was so thick with scene after scene I barely got to know anything about the characters, other than that they loved sex.
Around 40% in I had well and truly figured out what "Lisa's gift" was so the ending came as no surprise, albeit a little to swiftly for my liking.
There were some moments in the story that should have been really emotional but as I never became invested in the characters they did little to move me.
If you are a sexy romp with many different sexual mixes this book could be just what you are looking for.
Well, I'll preface by saying F-M-F Ménage makes me squirm, so if you enjoy that, you may find this book more enjoyable than I did. Also, if you want the checklist of BDSM rules I play, this may make you a bit crazy too. It is a bit of an emotional read. I have read a lot of Ms. McKade's book and feel like she is always trying to write an emotion filled book but sometimes misses. They are still decent reads.
Lisa is a great friend who wants to do what is best for Jana. She's a bit heavy handed and I don't think I'd want my friend to do this to me. Then again, I'm not in denial like Jana. Shelved as BDSM only because of the D/s aspect. More kinky than anything else.
First book that I have read by this author. Interesting plot, likable characters and sensual and hot sex scenes. It's also a story about friendship and love.
I did find some parts in the book a bit slow going but nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read.
This was an intense read with lots of hot sex--m/f, f/f/m, f/m/f and even m/f/f/m and bdsm with a master/sub relationship. It had a really good storyline (although I figured out the "catch" pretty early on") and great characters that you just couldn't help but root for. I did think what the subs called the master, "milord", sounded dumb, but they weren't expected to call him that all the time, so I was able to look past it and still enjoy the storyline. I put off reading this for a long time for some reason, and I'm glad I finally read it!
This was a good story, and I really liked the characters, especially Jana.
I did wish that Lisa and Nicolas would have been a little more upfront with Jana about what they wanted from her. It would have lead to a lot less feelings of guilt on Jana's part for thinking she was lusting after Lisa's "man".
There was quite the tearjerker at the end, which was unexpected. Definitely a HOT book!
I did enjoy this story, although I felt like the getting to know the characters part was a little rushed into everything else. I did like the ending though.
Love, pain, friendship, and heartache. These aren't things that I normally associate with an erotica novel. When I sat down to read this book I was expecting a light story filled with lots of sex. That was not the case at all with Lisa's Gift. This book was just so much more than sex. It had greatly developed characters that were experiencing real problems and hardships. Don't get me wrong, there was still plenty of hot sex but there was a great story to go with all of it. I honestly couldn't put this book down. I just kept turning the page wondering what was going to happen with Jana, Lisa, and Nicolas. I loved that we were able to watch Jana grow from a someone who is distrustful of others especially men, to someone who is able to open her heart and truly trust Nicolas. Can I just say that I loved Nicolas. He is both sexy and caring, always putting Jana and Lisa's needs above his own. I just loved him.
this is erotic romance and I have to say was a bit of a tear jerker. Has BDSM and menage a trois - 1 male and 2 females and the man is alpha. this couple(Lisa and her S&M partner) seduce a friend of Lisa's who Lisa knows she's had a crush on since the school days. the friend(Jana) has been through a lot and doesnt' trust anyone but Lisa yet through BDSM with the couple she learns to trust. I enjoyed this though sometimes BDSM stories 'get to me' a bit with all the dominance and submission...
I really liked this one. The connections between all of them felt very real to me. Some were obviously more intense than others, but that is real life. The sex scenes were not really all that 'real', but they were told well and in a way that they were accomplishing more than filling the pages. This was the first book I've read by this author and will be looking for other books by her.
OMG, I thought Lisa actually was in love with someone else until I really thought about the subtle hints tossed in, the lose of weight, the dull luster of her hair and then when she didn't want to go with her friends on vacation. Then I just knew it, she was dying. One hell of a story that feels so true.
This book was AMAZING. Granted you could tell parts of it were going to happen with the title name, however, it was a beautiful story regarding love. You'll definitely need tissues. I recommend this book a million times over.
This book was predictable what the gift was after the first bought of painful headaches. The sex scenes , the sexual combos of characters , and the BDSM made it a hot read. It was a 3.5 for me
Amateurish. The characters were badly written and the plot was one dimensional. I have read many BDSM themed books and this is definitely the worst example I have ever read. Avoid if you can.
