Synopsis Men of Freedom is an account of my time on the battlefield in Afghanistan as a colonel in the Afghan National Army, fighting alongside the United States Armed Forces and NATO alliances towards a mutual goal of ending global terrorism. During my 16 years engaged in combat, we encountered complex enemy tactics and had to overcome challenges and be ready for the unexpected. In this book, I revisit and summarize our combat missions, providing analyses and better solutions to repel and defeat the adversary.
Bio Hamid Saifi served in the Afghan National Army for 16 years, earning the rank of colonel while defending his people and his country against the darkness of terrorism. In sharing the challenges and lessons learned during complex warfare, he continues to fulfill his responsibility as a soldier to best protect his comrades and prevent casualties. When the Taliban regained power following the collapse of the Afghan government and U.S. withdrawal in August 2021, Hamid was unwilling to surrender and now serves as a commander in the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan.
“It is beautiful for me to be with the people and defend the homeland with all its pains and wounds.” - Hamid Saifi
