Keanu Charles Reeves is a Canadian actor. Born in Beirut and raised in Toronto, Reeves began acting in theatre productions and in television films before making his feature film debut in Youngblood (1986). He had his breakthrough role in the science fiction comedy Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), and he reprised his role in its sequels. He gained praise for playing a hustler in the independent drama My Own Private Idaho (1991) and established himself as an action hero with leading roles in Point Break (1991) and Speed (1994).
Following several box office failures, Reeves's performance in the horror film The Devil's Advocate (1997) was well received. Greater stardom came for playing Neo in the science fiction series The Matrix, beginning in 1999. He played John Constantine in Constantine (2005) and starred in the romantic drama The Lake House (2006), the science fiction thriller The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), and the crime thriller Street Kings (2008). Following another commercially down period, Reeves made a successful comeback by playing the titular assassin in the John Wick film series, beginning in 2014.
In addition to acting, Reeves has directed the film Man of Tai Chi (2013). He has played bass guitar for the band Dogstar and pursued other endeavours such as writing and philanthropy.
(B) 73% | More than Satisfactory Notes: Not much, it chews on déjà vu, and flashbacks too, but nothing new, much too subdued, the story here's just residue.
actually, i didn't like it that much. i thought there gore scenes were pointless, and there was just more and more of flashbacks that i'm, after six issues, NOT interested in anymore. there was barely any plot promotion, we were just circling the same topic, and i didn't really see or read anything that i didn't know already.
It was okay, lot of action, not much story evolution. Which is the major problem with this series. Where is it going and how long they will stretch it out?
Certainly hope this series goes WELL beyond 12 issues. Sigh, but probably won't due to Keanu's work schedule. Love the whole story, plot, characters, and art.
After the emotional impact of #5, this one is focused on the present day and more of an action installment. It makes sense that, having spent so much of his life wandering the world, Unute has exceptional navigational skills.
It will be interesting to see where he's going... although last time I checked, GR hasn't put the page up yet for issue 7, so it might take a while before I can review it on here.
Agree with others that the pace could pick up (and also that I read this because of Reeves), but I also appreciate the subtlety in the panels here. We get the violence, yes, but we also get quiet emotion from him during his conversation with Jim. If you take the pause, you can feel the weight of his life and his weariness. The opening was confusing since it didn't seem to transition to the mission. Not surprised by the last panels, but curious about the relic.
Manipulated into a situation where he can open himself to a brother in arms, the Berserker reveals his desire for peace, he’s never wanted to be a weapon for one side or another, yet it’s all he's ever been.
Hopeful that the US government will be able to remove the curse he remains with them, but you know how bureaucrats are, you’re either 100% committed on your own or you’ll be compelled to be.
I'm not sure if I dislike this series or like it. I'm not sure where it's going. I will continue to read but it must pick up soon or at least give more of a story
“They won’t bother us… they remember me.” As he looks at a pack of hungry wolves. Amazing. Love how this is progressing bit by bit. And I feel like he knows more than he’s letting on. I want more. What is protocol x?
But seriously, all the schemey-manipulative-etc. villainy is getting repetitive. The thing is, their goal and purpose just isn't clear or convincing enough to justify it all.
