Jasiel, The King Who Got Me

Rate this book
On the surface, there’s nothing about him she should like. He’s hard, cold, and stubborn as a bull.

He has no right to want to be with her . She’s everything he’s not. Warm, patient, and attentive.

And yet, the two of them find themselves badly wanting each other. But neither of them has ever had the guts to tell each other how they truly feel. Will they get it together or will she find comfort in the arms of someone else who’s brave enough to steal her heart?

I was really excited when the author announced she was dropping this book. Knowing that Jordanna’s brothers would have their own series really had me hype. The family dynamics in “Jasiel, The King Who Got Me” were top tier when it came to Jasiel, Gabriella and their siblings. I loved how they were one big blended family. Getting an update on Jordanna, Genesis and Giselle was the icing on the cake because I love them so much. Unfortunately, this book didn’t live up to the hype for me. This story picks up three years after “I Got You” and so much feels missing. I never got to see how Gab and Jas developed the love they have for each other. I mean, where did it happen? More importantly, how did it happen? That’s important information that I missed and without that birdseye view, it’s hard for me to believe in their love. I wanted to see more of Gab and Jas in their careers. They felt one dimensional to me because nothing much was given outside of what was told in “I Got You”. Another missed opportunity was witnessing the bond that Jas developed with Gab’s son Kai. That would’ve give more insight as to why Kai behaved the way he did. Also, I would’ve appreciated more fleshed out scenes in place of the main characters being in their heads so much. It honestly reduced on page time with the couple. As a whole, this book didn’t particularly work for me. I feel more pages would’ve give the author the opportunity to effectively complete the story. However, imma stick beside her and wait for the second book in the Evans brothers series.

The characters were so stubborn, everyone around them knew they would be more. I really liked this new insight to the family. Of course, Genesis and Jordana, will always be my favorites but I am curious to see what her brothers have to say. I loved how easily the two fell into a groove once making things official.

This book was ok. I got you Genesis was all BDE, Jasiel was not. This was a somewhat friends to lover book (Gabi is Genesis sister and Jasiel is Jordana brother). It was hilarious how everyone was waiting for them to admit feelings for each other.

Real good

I really enjoyed this light-hearted and effortlessly sexy too love story. I guess I wanted to see more of Jasiel at work. I was intrigued by his career choice and was let down a little that his career choice did not factor into the story... Shrugs... The love story took a minute to happen for good reasons. I have no complaints in that area. Jasiel and Gabbi had to find their footing first. The couple had so much to consider in forging a relationship with their family ties. The best friends and family dynamic flowed all through this story. I loved, loved, loved the friendships in this one. The relationship was too solid to mess up their culture with BS. And this was a minimal drama love story. Hallelujah!!! I suggest you check this one yourself; I'm telling you, this was a delightful story.

A Love story

Jordana and Genesis are living their best life now. Jasiel has feelings for Genesis sister Gabrielle but he is scared to act on those feelings. He plays games at first until the chemistry is too much to deny. I love the family dynamic and how close they all are.

This was my crossover book because I read it on the last day of 2024 and well finished it in 2025, I've been sitting with my thoughts in regard to this one or rather until I finished off the whole Evans Family series to have a well rounded review.

I think a part of me expected more but also I was grateful to just have something to read because I'm a fan of books which involve all siblings especially when I really liked one book, I go into the next one with somewhat the same expectation. I liked how everyone knew that they liked each other yet it was the very thing which held them back from committing, I liked Jas's relationship with Gabi's son. I don't think anyone can measure up to Genesis and I liked how we got glimpse of Gen and Jordanna.

I did not like Jasiel in the 1st book. I thought he was very stubborn and controlling. He grew on me and was likable in this book. Gabby deserved to find love. I thought him and Gabby were good together. I really enjoyed this book.

sweeet!

Jasiel was not to be played with!! I love when two hardheaded people give into LOVE!!! My favorite character however was Solomon! I love representation of black men holding each other accountable and allowing each other the space to feel emotion and grow!!

Amazing as always Miss Jenesequa!!

Gabrielle x Jasiel

Life is too short to suppress your feelings and possibly miss out on your soulmate. Fortunately, after three years of flirting and sneaking looks, the FMC and MMC stopped wasting time, got it together and professed their feelings for each other.

This was such a cute and quick read. While the previous book was too wordy, this one was just right. I actually could have used more insight on their flirtatious moments before they actually got together.

Now, I was giving Jasiel the side eye when he kept having those bouts of jealousy. Man….if you would have stepped to your woman sooner….never mind! 😂

I’m really enjoying this series. Up next is is the middle brother, Jaxson!

The part that completely changed my view on this book occurred when the FMC and the MMC privately declared their love for each other over a surprise weekend getaway her family planned for her. The guy she was supposedly dating was the one her family had brought her to the cabin they planned on spending the weekend in. So imagine my surprise when the FMC and the MMC started having sex under the same roof, as her BF and all her family. And the most unrealistic part, the BF discovered her relationship with the MMC in the most messy way. And to add insult to injury, her BF all of a sudden was ok with it and decided to stay and continue celebrating her birthday with her new love interest.

I knew they would be the ones to get together. It’s only fitting. They both pissed me off with the ignoring and not talking foolishness, then having someone else in the middle of their foolishness getting hurt.

Ehhh. I was a little disappointed in this book. It was still good, not as good as 'I Got You', but still good. I feel like I could have gotten more into it if it maybe had a prologue. The author keeps mentioning three years ago when Jas & Gabi first started feeling each other, but we don't get to see that. Its mentioned, but the chemistry just feels forced as well as like Jas is beyond possessive when he doesn't even know if Gabi is interested in him like that. Honestly, I got super invested during the drama during breakfast & that's when the book felt like it came alive. Also the characters spend too much time talking in there head & not enough dialogue (in my opinion).

I'm still going to read Jaxson & Jaiden story. I hope that whomever their love interest is, we get to see the connection actually be built & not just be told about it.

all i have to say is jasiel!! the way this man did not play about gabrielle and didn’t mind begging!! i loved. the only reason this book is not a 5⭐️ is because i wish there was more backstory to their passion. i know there are books before this one, but since this book is the first in a new series, i would’ve loved more of the couple’s backstory or a then-and-now type story line.

overall, i definitely say give this book a read it’s worth it🫶🏾

Jasiel and Gabrielle have been in each others life since Jordana and Genesis brought them together.

But over the last 3 years they have not acted on their feelings because their own respective fears.

When Jasiel finally gets the courage to approach her she was going on a date with someone else. He “allowed” it but then showed up at her house after the date to claim her. In the middle of them getting ready to get down her best friend shows up. She forgot she was coming she ask Jasiel to leave out the back door, that put a sour taste in his mouth and he ignored her message requesting to talk.

In the mist of him ignoring her, her date decided to reach out because he was still interested and since Jasiel ignored her for a week, she decided to go on the date and more dates after.

So once Jasiel decided he was ready to talk she was busy on her dates and also sour about him ignoring her.

They finally get in the same room during her bday surprise, but gabby wasn’t the only one surprised. Jasiel didn’t know she was back dating and was smacked white the news when he was the one who brought her to the surprise party.

But the shock didn’t last long as they were reconnected the same night. The next day they told everyone they were together. Her date, while sad, was understanding.

They get married and have a baby in the way.

The part that broke my heart the most was when her son thought this meant Jaisel and him will no longer be friends. 😢

I was very surprised to find that Gabby and Jasiel's story was so brief. The audiobook for the other stories in the series appeared to be 10+ hours, but this one was only 5 hours.

The book started out on a high note for me. Then it took a fast nosedive when Gabby did what she did when her friend Destiny came over. I was planning to keep reading until Jasiel and Gabby started with the immature games.

I didn't have the patience to deal with them and the silliness. I skimmed/skipped some chapters until I got to the lake house party and the secret unfolded. Then I listened to the rest of the book.

I really expected to learn more about their lives during the 3 years they were falling in love. How did Gabby decide to become a poet? How did she get into her bad relationship, and did she tell Jas about it? Did it worry her that Jas was a DEA agent? As a reader, I felt like there was no buildup to their relationship. It was a foregone conclusion. Just tell me they have been wanting each other for 3 years, and that's enough.

It wasn't enough for me. As much as I liked their characters, I was not invested in the relationship. As much as I love an epilogue, I was told about how their relationship moved forward. Once again, I felt completely disconnected from them and their relationship in this book. They got their happily ever after. Okay, The End.

This was a cute and quick one. I really did like the bond between Gabi and Jasiel but felt like more was missing. Like more of a story/journey between the two of them.

We jump in and it’s 3 years since Genesis and Jordana got married. We don’t get to see or go back to any interactions that Gabi and Jasiel had in that time period. All we know is that feelings have been brewing and are about to explode.

Don’t get me wrong, the possessiveness, the vulnerability (when we finally get to it), the spice, and the same family bond that was in I Got You… it’s all great. But I wanted more of…ok how did these two get here. The book was fast (whiplash fast) but it would have been so much better if we just had a little more insight to how we got to where they are out the gate. Also, I know this is a stand-alone and can be read without reading I Got You but boy would I have been confused and felt I was missing some context.

All in all this is like a 3.75 ⭐️ for me BUT I’m going to read every single Evans Brother book because Miss Jenesequa is doing her thing with them!

Okay, so I finished this yesterday and I’ve got some thoughts. First of all it was good. I enjoyed it. But… it didn’t hit the same way book one did. The storyline just wasn’t as complex. A sold 3.75 stars

Book two was shorter, and while the plot was still enjoyable, it lacked the depth that book one had. In I Got You, both the male and female main characters had real-life issues outside of each other that they had to sort through, plus the dynamic between them. That made the connection feel layered, like there was more to unpack.

But in book two, the only real issue was that they liked each other and didn’t want to talk about it. So it was basically a miscommunication trope through and through no real outside challenges, no personal turmoil, just vibes and silence. 😂

That said, it was still solid. The chemistry was there. The writing was smooth. I just wish there had been more conflict or complexity to work through.

Still, I enjoyed it, and I’m definitely jumping into book three soon. Let’s see if it picks the pace back up!

Cute 🥰

This was a cute read and was really worthy of at least 4.5 stars however I was a little taken aback by Jasiel .I just knew of all the brothers when it came to speaking his truth about his feelings, he would have no problem . Man was I wrong 🤦🏽‍♀️ he had been in love with his Brother - in - Law’s Sister for three years and instead of speaking up and telling Gabrielle how he felt he kept his mouth shut. Gabrielle was just as guilty as he was because she never let him know how she felt either 🤨
This story was a classic example of a close mouth won’t get feed 😂😂.
I loved the way they both felt about each other but it irritated me a bit that Jasiel would make some real crazy choices and it took entirely to long for him to open his mouth (Gabrielle was guilty as well)

On paper, they make no sense. He’s all stone walls and sharp edges…guarded, cold, stubborn. She’s the complete opposite. Soft , patient, and the kind of attentive that sneaks under your skin before you realize it.

They shouldn’t want each other… but they do. Badly. And the worst part? Neither one has ever said it out loud. So now the question is, will they finally get it together, or will she end up in the arms of someone brave enough to claim the heart he’s been too scared to reach for?

I know I said I don’t do romance, but I’m starting to think if I can relate or see myself in the characters. I can get into it. Jasiel: The King Who Got Me is book two in The Evans Family series and the first installment in The Evans Brothers lineup. Perfect if you love slow-burn tension, messy feelings, and a man who really needs to get out of his own way.

Well, It's About Time!!

Jasiel was afraid afraid to make his feelings known for Gabi. Everybody in their family knew. Man, three years. Jasiel knew how Genesis was coming behind Gabi because he was the same way behind Jordana. So their are one in the same. Solomon is a father for Jasiel. It's bad they had to use Kieron. I like how Gabi apologize to him. Jasiel is claiming his woman. Kaiser is a sweet little boy, he said he was supposed to be his friend. Jasiel told him that he's his best friend and he loves him. Gabi was scared to express her feelings for Jasiel knowing that Destiny had a crush him. Now they both was scared to express their feelings for one another. They are married and got a baby on the way

Hard to get through

I thought the story would be just as good as the previous book but it felt rushed and random. One minute they have unrequited love, next they are playing toxic games of ignoring each other. The next is undying love and no one can pull them away. Now this would be good if the scenarios were well planned out but it wasn’t and it was so fast. We didn’t get much of her past depression nor abuse to help us understand her more nor did we need the random man to get in the way. Then we did get much from them in their careers, no poetry outside the mention of her writers block and nothing on cases he was working on. The last book gave us more insight on them than their own story.

Beautifully written I loved it…

This story was beautifully written. Gabrielle was in love with Jasiel but couldn’t admit it to him because of the feelings that she had of not being worthy enough to be loved from her past experience with Kai’s father. Jasiel was in love with Gabrielle but didn’t act on his feelings because he was scared of rejection stemming from his underlying issues of his father leaving him and his family and never looking back. This couple was absolutely meant to be together and I am glad that they both eventually expressed the love they harbored for each other for 3 years and finally got their happy ending.

just go together already!

“Her having you in her life means that she never has to worry about being protected, being uplifted, and being loved.”
So this was a cute story of two people who should go together real bad, who need to go together real bad, who want to go together real bad, but don’t say to one another or anybody else that they want to go together real bad. I wanted to smack some sense into both of them! All of that anxiety and angst because they were keeping it all bottled up inside. Got people thinking it’s the next man but it’s really JAS who has the plans. They were perfect for each other.
Great read!

I enjoyed this book.. however where is the accttiiooonnnnn lol (its all in the bedroom chileee)

Now don't get me wrong if your looking for a good love story with no downs just ups, grab this book!

This is the 2nd book of the brother pov of the first love interest couple in the first book.

I believe the 3rd book is the pov of the 3rd brother but I'm good ...

I want a love story with some bumps in the road or something. Something more REALISTIC. Like how the man that was winning and dining you get played and punched on by your whole family and he stay to celebrate you. Girl BYE 🙄

However, this was some good story telling I finished the book in like 3 days, it's just not what I was looking for. Too much love not enough DRAAMMMAAAA

Jasiel and Gabi

I always enjoy a release from Miss Jenesequa? But I need her characters to communicate better and stop making assumptions because they are stressing me out 🤣🤣🤣. I really enjoyed reading about Jasiel and Gabi once they got their stuff together they were so darn good with each other. The way Jasiel loved on Gabi and her son and made sure that he felt included was amazing. The way the family handle everything was amazing and funny at the same time. I am looking forward to the other books with this series for sure.

Jasiel, The King Who Got Me

I throughly enjoyed Jasiel and Gabi’s story. Sometimes it takes for someone else to show interest in you for the other person to open up their eyes. Jasiel seeing another man interested in Gabi forced him to admit his feelings for her. It’s crazy how it took 3 years for him to get it together. I love those two together they fit and the bond Jasiel share with Kai is heart warming. I would definitely recommend this story. Okay bring on Jaxson story, we got the serious brother and Gabi. On to the quiet brother, Jaxson.
