DELIRIUM: The Attic Revelations

Rate this book
The novel is based on an imaginary narrative vision of the spirit of a dead character who lived during the First World War and who haunts the body of one of her great-grandchildren. Kitbah tells us about her love story with one of the Baghdadi notables who was enlisted unjustly and out of vengeance among the ranks of the conscripts in the wake of the Ottoman Empire's announced general mobilization and alliance with the Central Powers.
The narrative's flashbacks take us back to the beginning of the twentieth century, then another temporal transition drives us to the seventies of the last century. Kitbah's soul was moving between the bodies of those who carried her name in an attempt to get closer to her lover. However, no sooner had Mustapha returned to Baghdad after years of captivity than she disappeared into the depths of the river. The novel also includes the journal Mustapha Tukmachi, in two parts, the first of which reached his family after the invasion of the Russian forces of the Erdrum region and his disappearance; one of the recruits found it among his things and returned to his family. The second part is what he wrote after his return to Baghdad about his long journey of torment and years of captivity in the hands of the Russian forces.
