Krantor’s Mate is a standalone high-heat sci-fi alien romance featuring:

Perfect for readers who love alien romance that dares to do things differently.
M.M. Wakeford lives with her husband and son in a London terraced house that gathers dust while she loses herself in her writing. A lifelong reader of romantic novels, she writes in many genres including contemporary, sci-fi and historical romance.
Her stories capture that heady feeling of falling in love, with emotionally rich characters whose journey to a happily ever after is lined with dilemmas, desire and difficult choices. If you're looking for a page turning romance with high emotion and a good dose of spice, you're in the right place.

Another unique and delicious take on tropes I assume I know so well. This is an alien fated mates poly romance with a HEA that may surprise you. We meet Martha when she is jobless and newly single. All of the stars are aligned for her to take the opportunity to enroll for an alien exchange program on planet Ven. Venorians are a humanoid telepathic species that earth doesn’t know much about. The nature of this program is cultural, and for fated romance reasons she gets paired with Krantor who is heir to his kingdom. The idea of finding a mate weighs on Krantor emotionally, because he isn’t sure how that will shake up the very well established foundation of his MMMM dynamic with his royal guard. This is a fresh take on royal duty, on fated bonds within romance, and I enjoyed how this explored individual pairings within a poly dynamic. If you are anything like me who’s been looking for why choose with sword crossing, or enjoy why choose but are questioning really why can’t everyone be together this could scratch that itch. I have really been enjoying her unique take on tropes within romance.

After her life on Earth seems to be falling apart, Martha (h) travels to planet Ven as part of an exchange program. She meets Shanbri (H) and the two find themselves drawn to one another. But Martha becomes aware that she and Shanbri can't have a future together, as he’s one of four somars who serve Krantor (H), the son and heir of the Kran, planet Ven's ruler. The somars are dedicated to Krantor as his bodyguards and intimate partners, and while Krantor loves all his somars, Prilor (H) holds his heart. Things are further complicated when Krantor realizes that Martha is his fated mate, who must be his, as well as his somars’. Their relationship dynamics are challenged with the pairing of Krantor/Prilor and Martha/Shanbri and will be greatly tested when a Catch-22 situation occurs and a difficult choice must be made that threatens the relationship. Ultra-hot and steamy MMMMM, MF, MFM – with multiple partners there are lots of options. An interesting fated mate RH menage that explores individual pairings within the group, as well as a new partner trying to fit in and find their place within an existing strong and loving relationship. I wish that there had been a bit more of a role for Fionbal (H), who just didn’t seem to get a lot of love and attention in terms of his relationship with Martha – Dovtar (H) is at least addressed a bit in the epilogue.
This is my first dive into Alien romance, and it was extremely sweet. The read was easy, even though the use of new descriptive words for common terminology was used, it was easily decipherable, like rain maker for shower, or sun rotations for years etc.
This wasn’t so much RH, except one scene, than it was separate scene scenes between characters, which is to include MM, MF, MMF, MMFM.
I did find a few plot holes, which didn’t negate from the story itself,
The spice, though starting early was about 2.5 star The story a 4 star.

I'm not usually into the sci-fi genre, but since I really like the author, I gave it a try. The book is an erotic sci-fi romantasy, so not for readers who prefer no or mild steam. The gripping plot is very well written, is told from three FOVs and is set in a not too distant future and mainly on the planet Ven. The story is intriguing with strangers to lovers, fated mates/bond, reverse harem and polyamory tropes that includes lots of sizzling hot MM, MF and MFM love scenes, a great imagery that beautifully depicts the planet, its inhabitants and their way of life, a whole cast of very likable characters, all unique in their own way, an unexpected twist, a touch of danger and a great happy ending that will appeal to romantics. I really liked the three narrators who added even more emotion to the story and made me smile time and again.
When Martha loses her boyfriend and her job as a teacher, her friend persuades her to apply for the intergalactic exchange program with the recently contacted planet Ven, and Martha agrees. After initial difficulties, she is selected due to her intuition and newly discovered telepathic abilities and travels to the planet Ven with four other colleagues. She enjoys life on the far more advanced and liberal planet and soon falls in love with Shanbri, one of the four somars of Krantor, the son and heir of the ruler, but the relationship is doomed to failure because Shanbry has dedicated his life to the service of Krantor. Krantor enjoys his life with his four somars, who are both his bodyguards and his companions. But his great love is Prilor and he shies away a little from the thought that he will one day have a fated mate with whom he will live together, father children and share his thoughts and memories. When he meets Martha, it is immediately clear that she is his fated mate, as neither of them can resist the intense attraction between them. Martha, however, is unsure whether she wants relationships with Krantor and all his somars. However, it would give her the opportunity to be with Shanbry long term…
If you like sci-fi romances with endearing characters, complex relationships, great world building and plenty of spice, you will love this story, whether you read it or listen to it!
I found this an interesting and original approach to the reverse harem and fated mate tropes. Throw in the cultural differences between two humanoid species, and you get a fine mix of romance and world building. The world of Ven is led by a ruler, the Kran, whose fated mate provides him with enhanced telepathic skills. In a world where everyone has some level of telepathic ability, truth telling is unavoidable. Desire and love can't be disguised, but this doesn't mean that every relationship runs smoothly, particularly when a Kran's love life has important implications for the political picture. Not only that, but a mate must negotiate the existing sexual and romantic bonds between a Kran and his four somars (males pledged to protect him for life). The combinations get complicated and the stakes are high, both personally and politically. The author does a masterful job of portraying the nuances of the situation as each individual struggles to reconcile his or her own conscious needs and desires with the uncontrollable passion of a mating bond. The question for all concerned is how to determine the most important outcomes necessary for happiness. Can you "settle" for a less than perfect relationship and still achieve happiness and contentment? It's a good question and one the book's characters must address collectively as well as individually. Thought-provoking and provocative, with high heat throughout.

At first, I was disappointed that the author wrote with first tenses “I”. I have a hard time with that. Then she used it for each POV. I could get over it until the last page but definitely not my favorite.
It was very original and I enjoyed this space alien sci-fi menage romance.
I found some very good and some meh moments.
One of my pet peeve’s is no equal love. And sadly, out of 5 men, 1 woman, 2 men got the leftovers. All men are stuck with her, no possibility to find happiness outside the relationship. The story ends with 2 couples madly in love, and sex mmmf often…… but the 2 guys got sex twice a month, every 2 weeks. No romance, no love story with heroine developed. Just love and 1 child for 1 guy, no child for the other….
Those 2 guys were not necessary in the story, didn’t add anything. The epilogue was not happy ending for me. Yes the heroine had 4 children and was pregnant. Yes all the guys loved her and her back but those 2 were unnecessary extra characters.
The short kidnapping was not developed. Author wanted to add something in between the sex scenes but yet again not developed. Her lover who saved her alone, in space, found her hidden place without aliens in between, left with a scratch only? Absurd.
But all that aside, it was a never read kind of romance before. What I liked was the main characters fell for different person. I didn’t like the main male character. He was not lovable. Just a selfish brat.
I thought I would not read it till the end but I did. I cannot say I disliked it. I cannot say I loved it. Truth is in between;)
The overall plot was good but I had a hard time with some inconsistencies and time jumps. Maybe a 3 on the spice scale as I've definitely read spicier and I kept waiting to see if the harem would actually happen but the entirety never did (4/6 of the group in 1 scene late in the book). I still dont understand the point of the somars in its entirety. Yes its tradition and they are already bonded prior to this point but I dont get the "why" behind the commitment. Why does the Kran need 4 somars? Why was Prilor or even Prilor and 1 more not enough. It didnt have anything to do with evening out his power as his power wasn't awakened until he was mated. Even then it wasn't a struggle. If it had been love then he wouldn't have favored 1 over the others. And poor Fionbal was the last man standing the entire time. From the start he was the only one to sleep alone and the last to be with Martha. Besides him being the remaining "General" in a sense at the end there was no need for him or even Dovtar to have been bound with this storyline. He could still be in the military without being bonded. Actually removing them completely from the storyline would only cause an issue with them having to bathe and clothe themselves and the mating ceremony would have been a bit more in the open (awkward but fixable). They did nothing of substance.
Unhappy with being on Earth where things are not going well, Martha joins a 6-month exchange program to take her to the planet Ven. She falls in love with Shanbri, but he is a somar serving the ruler’s son, Krantor. The four somars are permanent bodyguards and “more”. And when Krantor meets Martha, he recognizes that she is his fated mate! His heart, however, has primarily belonged to his somar Prilor.
The relationships begin to get complicated since his mate would also belong to his somars. Will they be able to work everything out among themselves? Or will the relationship break apart if the dynamic changes? They will find out the answer when the Saraxians attack the palace and take Martha away with them. Will Krantor, racing back in his ship, chase after his mate to rescue her? Or will Prilor, who tried to protect Martha and was critically shot in the chest, become the priority since he will die without an immediate blood transfusion from Krantor? The decision is an agonizing one for Krantor who has loyalties to both of them and only one can be saved. What will he decide?
Krantor's Mate by M.M Wakeford, is a sci-fi RH romance book.
When her life on Earth seems to be falling apart, Martha, the fmc, travels to the planet Ven as part of some sort of exchange program. While there she meets Shanbri, and they are instantly drawn to each other. Martha then becomes aware that her and Shanbri can't have a future together as he one of four somars who serve Krantor, the heir of the Kran, Planet Ven's ruler.
The somars are dedicated to Krantor as his bodyguards and intimate partners. While Krantor all his partners, it is Prilor that has his heart. When Krantor learns that Marta is his fated mate, it complicates things with him and Prilor as well as things between Martha and Shanbri.
This is a very hot and steamy MMMMM, MFM, MF, a fated mate RH with an interesting twist, that explores individual pairings within a group as well as a new partner trying to fit in and find their place in already strong and loving relationship.

This interesting story begins on planet Ven with spicy MM sensuality (a female mate joins later). If you’re not a fan of MM sex, skip it; otherwise, prepare to enjoy complicated dynamics of romance, family, and politics.
Five people of each humanoid planet, Earth and Ven, exchange job positions to explore the culture differences of this interplanetary experience. Planet Ven has a ruling telepathic family known as the Kran. A Kran has four somars, bodyguards who are romantically fated to them for life. A Kran must seek their fated mate for the continuance of the family line and political aspects. Their fated-mate bonding enhances their telepathic abilities.
One earthling is in for a huge surprise. She is telepathic, half Ven, and the Kran’s fated mate. As relationships become complicated, she must negotiate with the group of men to establish harmony between existing sexual and romantic attachments and her earthly morals.

This is a new author for me and I really enjoyed this book. It has a well developed storyline with a unique twist and a huge surprise for Martha. After applying to go to the alien planet Ven for 6 months, she ends up spending a lifetime there with her bonded mate, Krantor, her husband Shanbri and Krantor’s other three somars (Prilor, Dovtar and Fionbal) who are bodyguards and lifetime companions. There is a lot going on in this story, especially the mind reading which makes for great reading. I enjoyed the Epilogue as we meet the children that has resulted from the different matings and the current child she is carrying. This is definitely a book worth reading as you never know what is going to happen next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Krantor is a like a prince of his world, he has four somars, they are kind of like body guards and lovers. Martha is a teacher on Earth, she has recently broken up with her boyfriend and has quit her job. There is a six month exchange program between the two worlds, five people on Earth and five people from Ven. Krantor loves Prilor, Martha falls in love with Shanbri, Martha and Krantor become mates. There are also two other somars. Krantor has relations with everyone, Martha has relations with everyone. I just don't think polygamy is sustainable in the long run, especially when children are involved. If Martha had had a six month affair with everyone while visiting Ven, and then returned to Earth and maybe got back with Ameer, that would have made more sense to me. Unfortunately, the book is not well written. I wish the author had an editor and maybe some beta readers.
This is really well thought out book and love just about all of the characters... except for Krantor. He's rude and he's selfish. There are only certain points that I can agree with the mating situation on, but he's wanting to take everything and give nothing for a lot of the book. His personality is well written, it's just him as a person that I don't like.
I love the other Somars and Martha and I appreciate her standing up for herself in the way that she does. The only thing that I wish is that I had more of Shanbri, to really get to know him.
I highly recommend this book!.

First read and I enjoined this Earth and Ven book. This story is of Krantor who is the son of the Kran on plant Venorian. He has committed somar who devote their lives to their Kran. There are four of them who provide every need and the Kran in return is their for his Somar men. Martha is selected to be an exchange program to spend time on Venorian. She meets Shanbri and falls in love to only find out she is a mate to the Kran. Some really sexy scenes and the connection building is what dreams are made of.

I made a good reads account just to give this book a review. I can forgive the boring page long descriptions about hair and outfits, I can forgive the total lack of characterization for a full two of the boyfriends, but the ending where the previously mistreated woman does not receive a proper apology from her mate and then receives a scolding for being mad at him is a step too far.
I think the worst part is the wasted potential. This is an interesting universe and we are given nothing worth exploring within it.
I give two stars because I did finish it, and I removed one star because my disappointment is immeasurable.

This is a fantastic sci-fi romance with m/m mfm fm and mmmm relationships with Martha the human who goes to Ven for an exchange program. Martha meets Shanbri and they are attracted to each other but they can’t have any kind of a future together because Shanbri is a somai who serves Krantor there are actually 4 somai’s who take care of Krantor’s needs in every way it soon get complicated when Martha shows up because she is Krantor’s mate. Fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book.

What a phenomenal read. The worlds, cultures, and species created were diverse and detailed. The characters were rich, vivid, and beautifully flawed. I went on such an emotional ride with this book. It is so amazing to watch this talented author weave such a magical journey with such a balance of realism and fantasy. I can see myself turning back to this book time and time again. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building. I loved the different and connected relationships in this book between the males together and with Martha. I loved the dynamic between Krantor and his four somars (and the concept of the relationships between Krans and their somars in general). I loved the culture in this book. Lots of yummy steamy scenes to keep me happy, too. *wink* This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be back for more. 5 stars.
Trope busting. Loved it. When you hear fated mates, you expect the couple will be insta-love or that there will be a rejected mates situation. Not so in Krantor's Mate. M. M. Wakeford offers a completely new take on fated mates. With all the expectations that are set with a trope, the author blows it out of the water with her fabulous storytelling. I completely enjoyed this take on RH, fated mates, and deep-abiding love.
This book takes a unique twist on polyamorous relationships AND fated mates. Each relationship between the Female MC and the Male Cs is interesting, and some definitely went in directions I didn't expect.
If you're looking for a story where the Fated Mate doesn't trump other love interests, definitely give this a read!.

A very hot story. Martha enrolled in six month exchange program to the planet Ven. She and her boyfriend broke up. She meets and falls in love with Shanbri. Shanbri is a somar to Krantor. Krantor is Marthas mate and Krantor has 4 somars. How does that work?.

This a very unusual arrangement of five aliens and one human female. Martha was a teacher on Earth and is passionate, impetuous and also a quick thinker. Prince Krantor is used to being pampered and in charge. He had other thoughts when he first met her .…. until he found out she was his mate. And that’s when things started to get strained and emotional..
A sci-fi romance reverse harem with a twist. The main male character and the female does not fully end up together. But they get what they want/need. This author throws a spanner in the works. If you want to shake up your reading list, try out this one.
A new author for me, who's backlist I'm definitely going to check out.
Not exaclty what you could expect reading the blurb
I only got to 25%, but in this portion of the text I got 3 veeeeery detailed MoM gay s3x scenes and 1 (one) "we did it all night" MoF scene, lacking anything steamy or interesting. I'm not going to waste any more time as the plot is yet to be revealed 😉
Meh. I struggled a lot with this book. I think the number one problem was a lack of sophisticated vocabulary. I found most of the spicy scenes to be gross, not sexy at all. I gave it two stars because I really enjoyed the a author's unique perspective on mates.
This story is a bit different from most sci fi. It was kept entertaining with all of the characters. Wakeford threw in a little excitement but not so much to take away from the main story. Read this book.
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline was entertaining. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I received this book as a Free copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
