Love can bring lightness to the darkness within… but is love enough to save us? Mitchell
Darkness sank its claws into me a long time ago, and when it did, I gave up hope for salvation.
I have nothing except the club and the sins I’m prepared to die for. They’ve kept me above ground, but the weight has pushed me beyond the point of no return.
That is, until a chance meeting at a graveyard brought me a ray of light in the middle of a rainstorm. Nyla’s sweet, kind, and so much better than I deserve—and more perfect for me than I could have ever dreamed.
My life suddenly has meaning, but I’m powerless to stop the way hers begins to crumble. We were doomed from the start, and as the pieces of her broken heart slip right through my fingers, I know love just isn’t enough.
Nyla
I used to have it all.
Friends. Family. A future.
But the day I met Mitchell my world came crumbling down. Secrets begin to unfold, turning my dream life into a living nightmare. The life I knew before was all a lie; I just never suspected Mitchell would be the one to pull the fraying threads until everything unraveled.
Danger lurks around every corner as masks are ripped off the very people I thought I could trust.

This is a heavy book and it's filled with disgusting humans who believe themselves to be gods amongst the broken and lost.
I didn't know what to expect from this book, I truly did not see a lot of the plot coming. I knew it was an MC romance, age gap and dark but I was shocked to read and find out how deeply dark this was. It's not to say it's bad because obviously I did not think so with my 4.25-star rating. It's just heavy and it drained me after I was finished.
One of the cool things about this MC though, is the fact none of them besides the president knows the sins they have committed. We also have some guys hiding behind either hoodie, masks etc. They never see their face, it's a mystery. Their life before was unknown and I am so excited to read their stories to find out more!
Once you read this book then you will understand the meaning of the quote I placed in my review. We meet the two main characters, and they are both dealing with grief and loss. Nyla is struggling to move past her grandmother’s death after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s years ago and Nyla took care of her, while Mitchell is dealing with his younger sister and mothers’ death over a decade ago.
Their chance encounter starts this chain of events I think nobody will see coming. There are obvious hints about who the main villain in this book is and you will know it before any of these characters do. The reveals and realization that everything we have learned from Nyla's POV is a lie and not trustworthy was shocking.
You see Nyla's father raised her with his mother when she was left on the doorstep, Nyla though we find out was conditioned from birth to never ask questions, to obey and be obedient.
Why?
Vincent aka her father is the man behind the Utah operations for a group called ''The Flock''. They kidnap women and children and sell them off. It's tragic and the more we find out the more heartbreaking it gets.
Nyla never knew, she again with her conditioning never questions her fathers ''business'' nor did she ever see anything past her rose colored glasses concerning him and her grandmother and even her uncle.
These people though were all in on it, her ''grandmother'' was not that at all, she was a woman who would use Nyla to lure in women and their children to ''safety'' but then sell them off and they would forever disappear. It's just disturbing how everything Nyla ever knew was lies.
Her father isn't even her father, she was kidnapped and if she ever crossed the line she would of been sold off as well.
Listen, this book is hard to describe as I would be writing an entire thesis to talk about everything but in reality it's best to read it yourself, but I will discuss other small bits of this book next:
Nyla and Mitchell start off their relationship and eventually sleep together which causes her ''father'' to hate her and this shocks her (but we find out he was planning on selling her and her virginity).
Mitchell though is keeping a massive secret and betrays Nyla with it. He is part of an MC group who is trying to do right by their sins and be ''saved''.
Saved in their world means for their life to end (by suicide) once they have atoned for their sins.
Mitchell's sin? He was a drug user (heroin) and was high the night his mother/sister were gunned down. He was supposed to pick them up after a movie and they died instead since he was getting high somewhere and forgot.
Now this is something we need to discuss, this is the first time I think that a MMC is an actual drug user for me, actively. He relapses mid-way through this book and goes on a bender for days and disappears. He actively struggles with his addiction and despite the years of sobriety he loses the battle.
Thankfully he has a support system and is able to go to meetings and rehab to help him. This entire part shocked me. The scene where Nyla finds him and he is about to inject himself is heartbreaking, she did not know about this part of him, and he just wants to die tbh.
Her presence in his life creates a newfound reason to live and survive. To protect her has become his new mission.
Another reveal? Darrell the President is her biological father and use to be childhood best friends with Volt who happens to be Vincent (you see Vincent was a code word for his world to know to never speak of the trafficking mission). He kidnapped Nyla to destroy Darrell because her mother was someone he loved but she chose Darrell.
Darrell was also into drugs when he was younger and the girl he was with Courtney another drug addict was pregnant at 17, he tried his best to do right but Courtney relapsed, and the baby ends up being born with a heroin addiction prompting Courtney to leave and Darrell to be forced to make the decision to have her put up for adoption.
Another reveal: Vincent was the reason Mitchell’s mother and sister died. Thankfully Vincent DIES and we get that ending but The Flock is still out there, and they are led by someone that even Vincent was scared of…so this plot point is still very much active and possibly the full series plot.
I SAID THIS BOOK WAS SHOCKING.
One final thing:
The side characters that will get books (well we only have one book confirmed for December, but I am hoping for the rest to actually happen)
- Sarge and Joslyn (the next book! - she is deaf, and he is always wearing a hoodie hiding his face, he is scarred and was in the army. They have an interested relationship we kept seeing in this book) - V and Oakley (stalker romance as he is obsessed and everyone says he is scary, while Oakley is the daughter of another MC member, and she is dealing with something that happened to her years ago that makes her scared of men) - Darrell and Victoria (longing romance? something happened between them, and we all know they each have a thing for each other) - Libby and the guy whose ring she wear (her husband was part of the MC until he killed himself but the ring she wears is not his, but another mans).
Ok so let me start of by saying I'm so upset that I didn't like this book. I recived sins of betrayal as an arc and I just couldn't get into it. It took me 2 weeks to finish and I'm a book a day kinda girl.i found the book very repetitive to the point it kept giving us the same information but never expanding on it so we didnt understand what was happening untill the very end. The twists were pretty predictable and i found the main characters unlikeable. The repetition of they were a club bound together by there sins but never explaining what sins were that bad they had to be punished for them were, got old fast. Yes in the end u did get to find out what 2 members of the clubs sins were but it was to late by that point id lost interest. If your gonna talk about the sins and repenting so much we need to know what were repenting for. I can only give a book so much leeway. These men have apaerntly known eachother of many years they are as close as brothers yet none of them know what eachothers sins are, none of them knew one character has a whole family or another one had a child. Then you have one character that no one has ever seen without a mask and another who no one has ever seen his face 😐 how? The one who people have never seen his face wears a hood, I'd love to know what kind of hood completely covers the whole face to the point no one has ever caught a glimps of him. It just didn't make sense. If there was just one or two things that were a bit unbelievable I could let it slide but with it all together you have to wonder how well these 'brothers' realy know eachother. I was looking forward to this book because the blurb sounded so promising but unfortunately I felt let down.
2.5 stars. I’m rounding this up to 3 because this is the author’s first book, but if she was an experienced author, I’d probably round it down to 2.
This has the bones of a good story, it just fell apart in the execution. It’s an MC book about Nyla (22), a sheltered naïve girl who is a 22 year old virgin, wants to be a nurse, helps the homeless, is basically a saint, and Mitchell (32), a former drug addict who's in an MC.
His MC is similar to the TV show Dexter – you know, how Dexter was a serial killer who targeted other serial killers? This MC is full of broken men who have "sinned" in their lives, and they now use violence to take down other gangs, and criminals who do worse things. That’s an interesting idea!
But, I had a lot of problems with it. First of all, this book does that trope, “the hero tricks the heroine into a relationship, under false pretenses.” Mitchell isn’t dating Nyla because he wants to – he’s doing it for a scheme involving his club. That’s a good angsty set-up for a betrayal! But, it didn’t have any suspense, because we knew it the whole time. We didn’t know the details, but we knew he had ulterior motives. This book would have been a lot more interesting if we didn’t get his POV until after the “reveal” of the betrayal.
It was also hard for me to sympathize with Nyla, because Mitchell kept telling her that he was a monster, and she’d regret dating him. So, sure enough, when he betrayed her and things turned bad, instead of sympathizing with her, I was like, “Girl, you walked into this situation. You were warned!” After that, she pushed him away for like, 5 minutes, but quickly fell into bed with him again. So, she felt like a doormat.
Later on, the plot took some ludicrous turns – surprise parent reveals, and villains giving speeches about their motives. It felt like a soap opera, and not even in a gritty biker way.
Like I said before, a motorcycle club full of “sinners” who are punishing other criminals is an interesting idea for an MC series. BUT, this ended up feeling weirdly religious. There were a TON of references to "God" – so many more than I was expecting. So, rather than giving the vibe of a badass “Dexter” type of MC, I was like, “Is this club just a weird religious organization?” I don’t have a problem with people who read Christian Fiction, and it’s allowed to exist, but I don’t read it. And I don’t appreciate being tricked into reading material that feels preachy. I promise, it is possible to talk about "sins" and redemption without getting religious!!!
Despite all these complaints, I'm a clown, because I may still give other books in the series a try - it did set up a lot of side couples who seem potentially interesting.
Gave it one star because the plot had potential but it was very poorly written. I think with editing this book might have been salvageable, but as is, it was a waste of my time and I’m annoyed I didn’t just DNF.
I wanted there to be more Showing instead of the constant Telling. I felt like every plot point was added in without any additional story telling.
Mitchell assuming Nyla’s dad was manipulative and bad news from ONE interaction. Then it was suddenly yeah he’s right. He is manipulative. I was always obedient but I was conditioned to be that way. Where’s the conditioning?? How can either character conclude any of that without any storytelling, background, etc.
Also, the idea that Darrell suspected Nyla was his daughter the whole damn book but never said anything was bonkers.
There were so many instances that felt so forced solely for the plot. They made Vincent this big bad guy but he was never there to actually intimidate Nyla or give her any reason to think that he was planning all along to sell her. It was just completely out of left field that he would give her so much freedom and then 22 years later finally sell her. Like what?!
And the basement stuff again was so into left field bringing in that side character Grey and his sister.
There was tons of Talk about being traumatized but it was never actually shown how any of them were struggling, no symptoms of PTSD etc. it was just a statement “I had nightmares”.
I didn’t feel connected at all to the characters and the heart wrenching moments just didn’t hit because I didn’t feel for the characters.
I don’t recommend this book due to lack of editing (the typos and formatting mistakes were too much to just overlook sometimes because it inhibited the readability of the story) and lack of storytelling.
Unexpected kindness to a stranger in a rainstorm brings consequences Nyla could never fathom. She thinks she's falling in love, but then down turns into up, left turns into right, and her whole world turns upside down. Mitchell never expects Nyla, but now she's invited him into her life, he plans on keeping her with him for as long as he can. She's the light he never expected and just may save him yet.
This book was a doozy! Super emotional rollercoaster with tons of secrets to be uncovered. I definitely liked it despite the fact that it seemed a bit overly angsty for how very dark it was. And it was pretty dark, if you're A sensitive reader, I'd definitely check the triggers. LOVED the growth of the FMC, thought it happened organically and wasn't forced. The MMC definitely had his demons, stumbled, but then got back up. Loved how caveman he was for his girl right from the start. Super excited for this author! Love catching great talent on their first book and seeing them take off, ability-wise, which I'm sure Ms. Nyx will so. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
Well, this book will rip your heart out and shred it into a million pieces. 💔
The emotional roller coaster that you are on during this book is through the roof! Love. Hate. Annoyance. Heart break. Grief. Hardship. Literally, every single emotion will hit ya right in the feels, and your heart strings will definitely be pulled in twists and knots and loop-de-loops.
Mitchell, our MMC & VP to the Unforgiven Souls MC. He's a bad@$$ and doesn't show much, if any, emotion. And everyone knows that. But that is until Nyla walks up to him in the graveyard one night.
Nyla, our sheltered FMC, has grown up away from the outside world besides her dad and grandma. She was always told it was better this way, and she was such a good girl to never question that.
As Mitchell and Nyla's relationship built, she discovered ALOT about herself, her life, and those she's always known. I'm not going to give ANY spoilers because you MUST read this book!
I cannnnnot wait for the next one! I'm so anxious!
🔥 This book does have some serious triggers, so please check those first!

An emotional rollercoaster that you won't forget.
Overall, it was a great Lovers to Enemies to Lovers trope. I would have never guessed this was a debut. I would 100% recommend this to others and look forward to more books by this author.
Thank you to the author for an eARC copy of this book. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
“brothers and i made a pact. when we met the person we were gonna spend the rest of our lives with, we’d get their first initial tattooed over our hearts.”
this was... dark, raw, heavy, heartbreaking, soul crushing, and i absolutely adored it. from the very first page i just knew. their story began in the place where people's lives ended, a graveyard. the meaning behind that, how it symbolized both their rebirths, how their lives only started when they had something to live for – each other. beautiful. the concept of the whole book, of the motorcycle club was devastatingly poetic in its tragedy. the unforgiven souls mc was a band of brothers who all believed had a sin too unforgivable to redeem their souls, so they looked for atonement by saving others. the metaphors for trauma and suicide ideation really resonated with me. the way this book dealt with mental illness, with intrusive thoughts, it broke me. i cried. i cried a lot. they were still struggling even by the end, after all was said and done. love wasn't the cure, it was the hope, the motivation. i appreciated that more than anything. how humanizing and humbling rock bottom was portrayed without shying away from the vile side of it. and the found family element to it, the different sides of it, and what that meant and looked like for the different characters. i can't, i'm always weak for that. i know people say the fallen men series has sons of anarchy vibes, but this mmc was the epitome of jax teller, to the point where, for a moment there, i feared he would meet the same demise. the plot twists were masterfully crafted in the way there was a build-up to them, even though i guessed it from the start, the author did a really good job of bringing everything full circle, without leaving behind any plot holes or discontinuity. i genuinely can't wait to have my heart shred to pieces again with the next book, this series has the potential to become one of my all time favorites. i already feel protective of couples that aren't even together yet.
I read Sins of betrayal a year or two ago and absolutely loved it. Now speed forwards to 2025 and with the release of Sins of the hidden on the horizon, I had to go back and do a re-read.
And I honestly forgot how much I loved the first two books! It helps that I am a sucker for a MC series, but there's something about this messed up bunch of characters that I adore 🥰
Especially my guy, V (Sins of the hidden is his book) He features throughout the books and I am absolutely obsessed with the masked man.
But enough about that guy.
This book is Mitchell's and Nyla's and what a read it is. It starts with a chance meeting in the graveyard and spirals from there... Full of spicy scenes, drama, plot twists, unhinged characters and more.
Now at one point (or two 😬) you'll want to enter the book and throttle the MMC (Mitchell) but just pull back on the urge and see what happens. He is a messed up guy, but in his own way he does love Nyla so much.
Nyla really came into her own as well, she didn't take any shite from Mitchell and even after he does what he does (no spoilers, no cheating) she tells him where to go.
There are a good few trigger warnings for this book, so check those out before you dive in.
Juniper Nyx is one of my favourite authors, not only because I adore her writing. But because she seems like a pretty kick ass lady! I am a part of her "Pretty Nyx's" group on FB and she is always so involved with her fans. Even checking on their mental health and giving you early spoilers etc. So this review may be slightly biased 😉
But I highly recommend giving these a read, especially if you love a good MC book with broken, but loveable characters ❤️
DNF @2%. Some would say this was too soon to be able to rate this, I obviously disagree for the following reasons: - Male lead every night for the past 12 years goes to his mother’s and sister’s graves and sits watch over them. We don’t know what happened at this point, but supposedly he’s to blame. The opening scene is he’s sitting under a tree in a rainstorm 🙄. He gets there by motorcycle and just leaves his bike to the elements.😏 i don’t think so. - female lead is at the cemetery same day. Coincidence her car doesn’t start when she’s leaving. She sits in car waiting for someone to pick her up and spots male lead. She gets out and goes over to him with her umbrella. Yeah right sure she does. 🙄 It’s so ridiculous but what adds to it and makes it even worse is the overly dramatic writing. It’s so bad that it is embarrassing. It’s a huge no for me.
Alright, buckle up, folks, because here comes a long rant!
Let’s talk about that cliffhanger ending for a second, shall we? Honestly, like, why do authors think it's cute to drop a cliffhanger on us, then act like they’re too cool to say it? And what really got me is seeing book 2 advertised as a "standalone." Like, wait, what? You HAVE to read this book to get the whole backstory and that DAMN cliffhanger! So how is that a standalone, exactly?
I get that this is the author’s first book, and I wanna be all kinds of supportive, but let’s be real for a second... there was SO much going on, it was hard to focus on any of it. The premise was fresh, but the author just threw everything in there. Like, they were trying to juggle flaming swords while blindfolded. There’s a limit to how much mystery you can throw at people before it just gets... well, a mess.
Spoiler alert

✶
Alright, let’s break it down:
✶ This book was like listening to someone tell you a story, but instead of getting to the point, they just kept circling around it. Like, imagine 70% of the book was just the character’s brain on a loop, replaying the same thoughts over and over again. It wasn’t even deep, introspective stuff. It was just fluff, with a capital F. Like, the kind of thoughts that should’ve stayed in their head. We get it, okay? We don’t need 500 pages of the same mental ramble. Seriously, it felt like half of it could’ve been chopped out with a solid pair of scissors. Poor editing? Oh, for sure. Repetition? Yeah, pretty much every other page.
✶ It was really hard to get into this book as there are things thrown at you left and right with zero payoff. Like, what’s going on? The characters… who even are these people? I mean, yeah, I know what they look like, but do I actually care? NOPE. It’s like they’re just walking around, existing, and that’s about it. There’s no emotional connection because guess what? We don’t learn a thing about them! It’s like they showed up, but forgot to bring their personalities along. Come on, give us something!
✶ I had to go back and reread a few parts because, honestly, what’s going on here? One minute she’s in gray sweats, and the next thing you know, he’s down on his knees, zipping her jeans like it’s some kind of magical transformation. I swear, it’s like a soap opera where no one bothered to switch out the set or even acknowledge the glaring plot holes. Like, come on, can we at least pretend this makes sense?
✶ You’re telling me that you’re running a club where nobody knows anything about each other’s sins, pasts, or, like, anything that matters? How are you supposed to trust anyone when you don’t even know what kind of baggage they're lugging around? Trusting someone in that situation is like jumping into a pool blindfolded... except the pool might be full of sharks. It's just wild.
✶ Nyla – She was so clueless, it was almost impressive. Like, seriously, how many times did Mitchell warn her he was a walking disaster and a total monster? Dude basically wrote her a “don’t get involved” manual, and she STILL dove right in. When he finally pulls out the whole "I’m a monster" act, she's like, "Oh my god, I can't believe it!"Eye Roll. But get this – she’s mad for like half a second, then boom, they’re back at it. Sex scenes on repeat, basically. And her inner dialogue… I could not deal. Girl says she doesn’t want him, but like, her body is all over him. You could hear her thinking, “No, I shouldn’t,” and, spoiler alert, she totally should have kept saying “no.” At least then we wouldn’t have had to read about her being a total doormat. I swear, this girl had less spine than a jellyfish. The real kicker. She kept talking about how it wasn’t love, but girl, the way you act and the words coming out of your mouth are screaming love louder than a Taylor Swift concert.
✶ The whole thing with Nyla’s birth mom was such a mess. Like, can we talk about how rushed it was? They barely gave us any time to even process what was happening before it was like - poof, over. And don’t even get me started on that letter. Why in the world did she fly all the way there just to leave a freaking note? Like, girl, you couldn’t have just texted that? What was the point of showing up if you’re just gonna drop a bomb like that and peace out? It was like a whole plotline that added zero to the story. Ugh.
✶ Mitchell was hard to warm up to. Like, I get it, he’s supposed to be all brooding and mysterious or whatever, but honestly, he came off more like the guy you don’t let near your best friend at a party. I mean, from the jump, we knew his whole game was just a hot mess of manipulation. Seducing her was like checking off a bucket list for him, but with zero regard for her emotions. Taking advantage of her firsts when he had zero intention of sticking around? Like, dude, seriously, not cool. Couldn’t he have figured out another way to get what he wanted? She was sooooo naive, it was honestly like playing a game on easy mode, and he still managed to screw it up. Even after the big betrayal reveal, he just kept on exploiting her. Like, bro!! It's not until the last 10% of the book that he has a moment and realizes he could maybe possibly see a future with her. Like, oh, great, now you care. Awesome. The whole protective thing is weird too - like, in his head, he’s already decided there’s no future with her and wishes she’d hate him by the end of it all. But then he’s over here like, "I gotta protect her," and I’m like, which is it, Mitchell? Make up your mind. And, girl, he managed to function normally when he was a full-blown drug addict. Like, how are you still out here acting like you’ve got it all together while your life is falling apart? The scene where Nyla finds him about to shoot up and he won’t take off his blouse to show the needle marks? Sure, honey, whatever you say. But how did she not see them during all those sexy times they had? Hm.
✶ I’m ALL in for spice in my books, but these scenes. They were about as thrilling as a soggy noodle in a bowl of lukewarm water. Like, where’s the heat? The dirty talk was so cliché, it made me cringe. I’m not saying it was bad, but it was so predictable, I half expected a cheesy sound effect to play every time they said something steamy. Ugh. No thanks.
✶ Vincent—Nyla’s dad—what the actual heck? This guy spent 22 years raising her only to turn around and sell her off. And then there’s Darrell. Seriously? You're telling me this dude couldn’t recognize Vincent? They were supposedly in the same town, right? So, how is it possible that not a single person caught on or crossed paths before now?
✶ Darrell, the big boss man (aka the president), turns out to be Nyla's birth father. Yup, surprise twist, right? He's had this hunch all along but decided to act like a big ol' coward and avoid confronting it until the very end. Classic move. Honestly, you'd think a grown adult would take care of some feelings, but no. Darrell's been straight-up dodging that truth like it's an unpaid parking ticket. He can’t bring himself to actually deal with his mess until the book’s almost over. Like, come on, dude, you had one job. One.
✶ V and his baseball bat. I swear, this guy is one swing away from being cast in The Walking Dead. Seriously, the dude’s got a whole relationship with this bat, and I’m just over here like, “Do you need a minute?” His baseball bat is the only thing he talks to. Well, that is until Oakley comes into the picture. He has a hospital mask stuck to his face like it’s the hottest accessory on the market. I mean, I get it, it’s mysterious - but also, bro, it’s giving off “I’m trying WAY too hard” energy. Like, are you a ninja or just trying to make a fashion statement? The author probably thought, Ooh, this mask is so intriguing! What’s underneath? But meanwhile, I’m sitting here like, Do I really care? Even the other characters don’t seem to care, and they’re literally in the same book as him. If they’re like, Meh, who’s that? then why should I bother?
✶ Joslyn (Nyla’s BFF) is apparently DEAF. Surprise! Except - hold up, why are we only finding out about that later in the book? What was the point of hiding it until it’s a big “shock” reveal? I mean, sure, I get the suspense factor, but at this point, it feels more like a plot trick than a real twist. Now, before we know all this, Joslyn is out here vibing like everyone else, no issues, just living her best life. She hears just fine - because, surprise again, she’s rocking a hearing aid. No biggie. She’s functioning like a champ, no questions asked. But then… and this is the real kicker, right? After the big “Oh by the way, Joslyn’s deaf” reveal, suddenly she’s having trouble hearing - even with the hearing aid. Wait, what? Like, was her hearing aid just on vacation or something? I thought that thing was supposed to be a game-changer. Apparently, it’s as useful as a paper umbrella in a hurricane now, and we’re left scratching our heads.
✶ Oakley (Nyla’s shy BFF) is hands down the one I felt the most in this book. Like, I don’t even know what it is about her, but my heart just went out to her. But here's the thing — just like all the other characters, we’re not given her backstory. We don’t really know why she’s so guarded, just that something big and terrible went down in her past. Oh, and get this: her dad’s part of the club, but her and her mom have absolutely no clue about it. Like, WHAT!? But, here’s the kicker — she ends up getting held captive by the club and guess what? The club has no idea that she’s the daughter of one of their own members. How does this keep happening? Are we just supposed to buy that nobody knows each other’s business in this biker gang? It’s honestly getting a bit predictable, but hey, what’s a thriller without some good ol’ “why is this happening” moments?
✶ Half the characters in this book, total loose cannons. And when I say loose cannons, I mean they're so unhinged that the only way the rest of the crew can handle them is by having a whole stash of sedatives on hand. Yeah, you heard me right. Needles at the ready, like it’s a casual Tuesday, just in case someone decides to go full "wild animal" on them. It’s honestly like they’re walking around with their own little medicine cabinet attached to their belt, just waiting for the next meltdown. Totally normal, right?
✶ Nyla had sex with Mitchell, right before she finds out about his big reveal. And then, shes just walking around chilling with cum dripping down her legs after in his T-shirt, no undies, and the visual of it all... I mean, no, just NO. Oh and then, she get locked in a room for DAYS. There's a bathroom. A whole-ass bathroom, and Nyla is just like, “Nah, I’m good. I’ll just keep on rocking this look and run around for days, no biggie.” Seriously? Someone pass me a sanitizer wipe, because my brain is already at capacity. Total yikes.
✶ The girls aren’t exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. But Nyla? She’s definitely the standout here. Don’t tell me you, as a daughter, have no idea what your dad does for work. Come on now. It’s honestly kind of funny how out of the loop she is about MC and everything that goes on there. The questions she asks? Definitely... um, naive.
✶ Victoria - She’s part of the club, and for the life of me, I just couldn’t quite figure out what her deal was. I mean, they never really give us a clear answer, do they? At first, she seems like she’s just hanging around, doing her thing, and then - plot twist. Turns out she’s a therapist. Like, who knew? Definitely not me. And we have to wait until the very end of the book to get the bombshell that she’s the one Mitchell and Darrell start seeing to “work through their issues.” But here’s my real question: why the hell didn’t they talk to her before? She’s been right there this whole time, and suddenly it’s like, “Oh yeah, I think we should talk to Victoria now.” And suddenly, here we are, learning that the entire club was just one big group therapy session waiting to happen. But that’s not all. Oh no. Victoria has this weird thing going on with Knight - plot twist number two, we never actually get an answer to. Like, what’s the deal with them? Are they friends? More than friends? I don’t know, and honestly, I’m kind of annoyed that we don’t get any closure on that. But wait, there’s more! Apparently, she and Darrell have some other thing going on, too? Like, what is this, a therapist love triangle? Can we get some answers here, people? I can’t be the only one asking these questions. Honestly, Victoria’s whole storyline felt like it was written in just to tie things up at the end. I get that Mitchell and Darrell needed someone to talk to, but it just felt a little rushed, ya know? Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we should’ve had a heads-up about her therapist side way earlier.
Honestly, I’ll probably give the next book a shot because *I'm curious*. But it’s not high on my priority list. There’s too much going on for me to be fully invested. If the author tones it down a bit and adds some actual depth to the characters, I could be on board. For now though? I’m just over here like: “Girl... bye.”
Sins of Betrayal by Juniper Nyx is the First book in The Unforgiven Souls MC Series. This is the story of Mitchell 'Grim' and Nyla. Nyla is a young 22 year old women who lived with her dad and grandma. But due to her dad's work she of course was around her grandmother more it would seem. Nyla lived a sheltered life but has always had a passion for helping others. Mitchel is 32 has never really know love or kindness and is used to taking care of himself along doing what he had to do to progress forward to live. Mitchell is the VP of the Unforgiven Souls MC also. When Nyla is paying respect to her grandmother's grave she ends up meeting Mitchell who she offers her umbrella too. This of course is shocking to him that someone is so caring. They start a friendship of sorts but things are not what the seem. Enjoyed and I can't wait to read more from this series and author.
10/5 glowing stars for this book! Oh my god, I wished I had all the time in the world to devour this in one sitting. I truly haven't been this excited for a series in a long while. Let me tell you something - *emotionalmfrollercoaster*.
This book is the first in it's series about The Unforgiven Souls MC - a Sons of Anarchy esque motorcycle club based on atoning for each members respective unforgivable sins and a lifetime dedicated to righting them. You follow Nyla through.. damn near everything a person could go through (and then some) and Grim, who is the VP of the club. I'm not spoiling anything but I will say 😭🤌🏼. This author is the first I've read to write an insta love that genuinely makes sense and isn't just for plot movement at the beginning of a book. The things these characters go through feel true and authentic because they're written so well. The plot was explosive from the jump, the found-family you're brought into made my heart sing, and the love these two grow into is one of the most beautiful and worthy I've read.
This book literally has it all.
-DARK and TWISTY -age gap -lovers to enemies to lovers -found family -MC -more plot twists than I can count -secrets & lies *a plenty*
Go, right now, and pre order this mf book. I really hope you do and that you love it as much as I did. This author is a beautiful soul and deserves to have this book in a million hands. I cannot wait to see what else she cooks up for The Souls. They will definitely have a spot in my favorite series list from here out. 🖤 wagging my tail until then. 😘
I would have enjoyed this much more without all errors. Their were a lot of mistakes throughout the book (example: cook instead of cock). It took me out of the story everytime. Their were also repeated sentences, for example, describing moving Nyla from the bed to a window seat in one moment only to describe it again halfway down the page. Like the sentence was copied and pasted. With a good edit, I would easily bump my rating to a 4.
I really liked the plot. The twists really got me, some I expected, but others totally caught me off guard. I'm really excited to read Sarge and Joslyn's story, and I hope Oakley and V also get a book!
this is one of the best MC books I have read in a LONG time
MC that focuses on atonement for their sins??? THEY DONT HAVE ANY CLUBW——S!!!!!! No OW drama??? the brothers all sound interesting af to the point where I start highlighting passages about THEM in a book not about them!?
there’s one brother that drags a bat covered in blood splatter & he always wears a surgical mask. be still my heart. then there’s one that always has a hood on, no one has seen his eyes or his face. & he crazy. like yes, this is what i fckingggg NEED from an MC book
i needed this book & didn’t even know it. cannot wait for the next book to come out!!!

This story captured my interest at the start, I felt so much for Mitchell yet didn’t really know exactly what he’d been through. But then the story lagged a bit, I understand there is a need to build up the foundation between the lead characters but I was so pleased that by about a quarter of the way into the story, the pace became faster and everything ramped up.
Mitchell, aka Grim, is a walking contradiction, yet was he? See even trying to explain is difficult but that’s not a bad thing, I found his character to be so interesting. I found all of the Unforgiven Souls MC characters to be fascinating, as well as the whole concept of their club.
Nyla was such an innocent young woman, one with a beautiful and giving nature. I can’t imagine anyone not liking her. She certainly grows up in a hurry and it’s not a bad thing but my heart went out to her quite a times. I enjoyed her sassy voice and strength when challenged too.
This is a longer story and there is an abundance of action and drama to entertain readers. I’m quite impressed with what appears to be this author's first book and am interested to see what happens in book two, In the Light of Sin.
Where to begin, Juniper you absolutely killed your debut book. This book sucked me in and I never wanted to put it down. I was staying up until 3am reading this book because I could not put it down.
We meet our MMC Mitchell (Grim) and immediately your sucked in. This man had been through some stuff and it’s clear he is suffering. Mitchell is funny, dominant, cares hard, fights for what he believes in and wants to right his wrongs.
Our FMC Nyla is sweet, kind, innocent, caring and wants to help others. Nyla lived a sheltered life with her dad and grandma. She spent all her time with her grandma while her dad worked.
Nyla meets Mitchell in a graveyard when she is visiting her grandmothers grave. She offers him a kindness of covering him with her umbrella and she catches his attention because he hasn’t known such kindness in a long time. This meet cute will set them on a collision course that will change the trajectory of their lives.
Nyla is young (she’s 22) and has never been with a man, she’s sheltered and inexperienced, Mitchell is 32 he’s confident, sexy, charming, tattooed, rugged and a biker. She is intrigued by him immediately and they begin to spend time together. Their banter, chemistry, attraction, and relationship is off the charts.
But these two love birds have so much in store for them. The twists, turns, mysteries, secrets, lies and truths that come to light will test their relationship, their strength, their resolve and their emotions.
Will Nyla be the same after all is revealed? will Mitchell make amends for his sins? Will their relationship survive? This book takes you through all the emotions anger (lots of it), sadness, happiness and everything in between. This book is absolutely incredible and I cannot wait to read more.

This book gave me whiplash, but in the best way! So many twists i absolutely was not expecting! I can not wait to read more from this series, and author.
And spice, so much spice! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Mitchell is our grumpy, touch her and die, VP of a motorcycle club, morally grey MMC.
Nyla, our sweet and lovable sheltered FMC, has her world completely torn apart as she discovers some heartbreaking truths about her family.
They’re story starts and ends in a graveyard, but what happens in between shows how true love can save us when we need it most!
We have:
Age gap Forced proximity Virgin FMC Lovers to enemies to lovers Found family Mental illness and addiction representation
This book had me hooked from chapter 1. I binge read this all weekend, because i had to know what happened. The amount of gasps, and shocked faces i made while reading it probably made me look a little crazed. You won’t regret adding this one to your smutty TBR! 🤪
Well this is a complicated book. At times I loved it but at times I felt really conflicted and at points thought that it might be a DNF. Read your trigger warnings and think about them as there are some really challenging aspects to this plot.
This book really comes into its own at about 50% and I loved it from then on so if you are struggling keep going.
There is a lot going on in this plot, lots of twists and turns. To be honest I am not entirely sure it needed all of them. There are also a lot of characters to get your head around. I feel like the 2nd in the series might be easier to follow now i know the characters.
The characters in this are deep and complex. I really liked both Mitchell as the MMC and Nyla as the FMC. Some of the supporting characters are also brilliant and I want to learn more about their stories.
This is book one of the Unforgiven Souls MC series.
Nyla has just lost her grandmother. While she is at the cemetery visiting her, she meets this mysterious man when her car suspiciously won’t start.
When the guy, Mitchell, shows up at her work and they start hanging out. The more time they spend together, the more she falls for him. But when he takes them to a party and things go south, she finds out what he has been hiding.
Now she has to be protected by his biker club because the rival club wants her and her friends. Nyla still has feelings for Mitchell, even though she knows that he’s dangerous. I mean, who doesn’t like a bad boy.
This book is so complex and I did not see some of it coming. I’m completely obsessed and can’t wait for the next one!! 🤩🤩🤩
I love MC Romance, but I am super picky about it. And let me tell you— this debut novel did not disappoint!
The relationship between Mitchell (Grim) and Nyla is flawed, hard at times, but in its own way beautiful. Both characters really learn and grow together in an arc that feels believable.
The plot is absolutely riveting. It’s fast paced and makes you want to read well into the night!
If you’re looking for MC goodness, morally grey heroes and interesting heroines then this book is absolutely a must grab!
Nyla and Mitchell’s story was … heartbreakingly beautiful. It put me through the ringer. The story line alone was enough to suck me in but it was the emotions you could feel through the writing that kept me going and anxious for what came next. This is a new to me author and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read this story !
Mitchell is truly a one woman man and you see that shine through so much! Nyla is sheltered but fierce in her own way. She is passionate and just good all around.
If you need a book with sons of anarchy vibes look no further because this has it all!!! I can not 9ut into words how much I loved this book. I felt so bad for everyone involved. Finding out your family isn't who you thought they were and the guy your falling in love with is a villain. But don't we all love a villain!! This story has it all and then some. Happiness, sadness, hate, anger, betrayal, more anger, love and a hea we need.
The themes in this book are dark, as are some of the details so please heed the trigger warnings. This author has blown it out of the park with this debut read! Her broken men are drool worthy, her women are bad*$$ and her story is amazing. Mitchell is a hard antihero to love, but gosh, I will take him in every single day. You could feel the emotions in this book dripping off the pages, and if book 2 was out now, I'd be forgetting my reading list and jumping straight to that one. If you love dark baker reads, grab this book, you won't be sorry!!
