Yeah, the satirical edge is pretty much gone and this is just another assassin battle manga where bizarre people take turns trying to kill each other in outrageous ways.

The school storyline wraps up in a slightly unsatisfactory manner, but after just a little downtime the hero and his protégés are already saddling up to ride off on a rescue mission. The short stay at the convenience store home base just reminds me of what I used to like about this series and is now missing.

I have one more volume on hand from the library, but I'm already fairly certain it will be the last one I read in this series.

Another not lackluster volume, but one with some high highs and low lows and still feels like it’s lacking in a solid direction which just leaves way to many paths to follow that are all interesting but none feel completely given enough time to do their thing. That one v one battle around the 100th chapter was insane though and the pictures were just gorgeous and fluid, I think I went through just this at least twice. I’ve still got excitement and hope for this series but I just hope sakamoto doesn’t continue this new I gotta do this on my own act.

Volume 12 is a really fun volume that continues to build on the series' high-octane action and character development. The main event is the fight between legendary assassin Sakamoto and the eccentric director Kanaguri. It's a fantastic showdown, and it's particularly satisfying to see Sakamoto put the cocky fuck face bitch Kanaguri in his place multiple times.

The second half of the volume shifts focus, providing a deeper dive into the backstories of key characters. It's here that we get to see the history between Shishiba and his former mentor, Yotsumura. The dark, messed-up past they share helps explain why certain characters are the way they are, adding a compelling layer of emotional depth to the plot.

Overall, this volume is a great addition to the series, balancing kickass fight sequences with important revelations. It earns a solid 4 out of 5.

3 stars is me being generous, nothing special, boring. The artwork and art style is nothing special neither.

PS: Assassins with a family tagging along is ridiculous

Qué locura. Abre el tomo Osaragi de manera increíble, la sigue Shishiba y después el djskks Nagumo me deja sin palabras. Por algo es mi favorito 😌

Well that was anticlimactic, they just won? I hope so because we went back to a fight with characters I forgot about. Then a flashback? I don't know the characters are just there and not using names I read before. I need markers over all these characters so I know who is who - especially during flashbacks when they really don't look like they do "now".

Now onto the next town for a fight, wait no, they went back to the store where the store is doing great without assassin fights breaking out constantly, thank you very much. This part of the story was to brief but saved the volume from lower stars.

will be honest, idk what volume the "reveal" was in but the "twist" on why the main villain (knock off gojo) is acting the way he is, is kinda stupid

Osaragi's fight in this volume has been her best yet, whilst not so much drawn out, that moment of taking Shishiba's advice and being more subtle about killing was awesome- hiding under the blanket, slicing up, then crawling out was so darkly adorable!

Shishiba fights the ex Order member too, and we get a bit of backstory. Maybe the dude isn't as bad as he's being made out to be, especially if his wife betrayed him and was willing to kill Amane for her cause... I just hope everyone finds out the truth about it. Nagumo's kept him alive to use him...I am not sure whether to trust Nagumo, he's a little sketchy.

The fighting at the school wraps up. Sakamoto has a crazy cool panel with the film guy and their shadows behind them. However, Akira decides to leave the JCC and Sakamoto, going with him to find Slur in order to avenge her aunt... I don't think she made a good choice, but I do like how deadly and confident she has become in such a short time.

The crew now know where Slur is (Bangkok) and are heading there to save Akira, Mafuyu and that Otaku girl. We got a little history and glimpse at who Slur is (Uzuki) and how he might have split personality...interesting. I like that him and Gaku have been besties since their orphanage days, explains why they're so close and playful with each other.

Sakamoto tries to head out on his own, but Shin isn't having it. Their brief fight was awesome, Shin has improved a lot since the beginning.

I am really excited that the stakes are high again, there's still a lot of history we don't know, and a lot of emotional ties people have with each other that could really drive the story.

“A heartless person’s work can never touch anyone’s heart.”

description

The series keeps proving it can balance explosive action with sharp, clever storytelling. This volume wastes no time throwing readers into intense confrontations and fast-moving plot turns, with fight scenes that feel both brutal and stylish. The visual choreography is on point, making every punch, slash, and feint easy to follow yet still thrilling. There’s also a constant undercurrent of tension in the quieter moments, where even a casual exchange might carry hidden threats. It’s the kind of pacing that makes you want to keep reading without stopping.

Character dynamics remain one of the strongest aspects here. Alliances are shifting, grudges are deepening, and certain players stay unpredictable enough to keep you guessing about their next move. The mix of manipulative mind games and sudden bursts of violence gives the story a dangerous edge. Some of the dialogue lands especially well, managing to be darkly funny while still pushing the plot forward. It’s a reminder that this series isn’t just about who’s stronger—it’s about who’s smarter and more ruthless.

By the final chapter, the pieces are clearly being set for the next big confrontation. While the emotional weight isn’t the main focus this time, the sense of anticipation is strong. The unpredictable character choices and well-executed fights make it a fast, satisfying read.

Chapter 98: Kill more quietly.
i am quiet.

Chapter 98: Who are you to judge other people? Deep down, every human has the desire to live and the urge to kill. Why do we forgive people who cause others to suffer just by living, and only condemn the act of killing? When were we ever forgiven?

Chapter 98: The idea that we should give maniacs guns is old-fashioned. The trend in assassins nowadays is toward young girls with circular saws who grew up on farms.

Chapter 98: SHH...

Chapter 99: I like simplicity. I don't want to have to think too much. Or be weighed down.

Chapter 99: It's okay.I'm a pro too. It's kid's bedtime. Don't overstay your welcome. Mr.Yotsumura, your taste in women is messed up.

Chapter 99: Would you laugh if I told you I feel for her and had to work really hard to woo her?
Great now I have to listen to my boss talk about his love life in the car.
You'll understand one day. If a guy meets a woman and he loves even her faults, then it's all over for him. Ew... just drop me off here.
Hey, speaking of which, if anything happens to me, look out for them, okay?

Chapter 99: Do me a favor. Don't take this mission. If you do I'll kill Amane.

Chapter 99: When a pro moves, you don't see it coming.

Chapter 100: Haven't I taught you not to learn too much about the enemy?

Chapter 100: Do you still blame me for choosing my family, Shishiba?
I don't blame you. But I've had enough. Every time we face off I get tired of trying to find a reason to kill you.

Chapter 101: I was just thinking it would be handy to have a living corpse

Chapter 101: I just run into Mr.Yotsumura down by the river.
Oh really? He wasn't dead?
Don't make me laugh. Since when does an Order member not make sure an enemy is actually dead? You lied.

Chapter 101: Don't worry. I don't like movies.
I hear there are movies in heaven too. I bet you'll learn to like them.
Assassins don't go to heaven.

Chapter 102: Everything in this world exists for cinema, including the deaths of our loved ones. The universe was created to be a giant movie set. Its people were all born to be actors in my movies!

Chapter 102: A heartless person's work can never touch anyone's heart.

Chapter 102: I'll show you something you've never experienced before. 4DX.

Chapter 102: I love movies.
You stay in your fictional world. Hasta la vista, baby.
Hey see... you do like movies.

Chapter 103: Do you know what kind of movies are the most boring, Sakamoto?
The kind where the protagonist wakes up and realizes it was all dream.
No. It's when you can predict the ending halfway through. The important thing is how you deceive the audience.

Chapter 103: His blood isn't clotting. It's special-effects makeup!

Chapter 103: If you made movies, they'd be boring, Sakamoto! Who wants to see a movie about fighting to the death where nobody dies?

Chapter 103: I have no interest in dying by the JAA's hand. I'll choose my own ending

Chapter 104: There is another persona inside of him who does bad things.

Chapter 104: We'll take out the order, one by one.

Chapter 105: I can feel myself getting amped-up. X. Akira Akao. The Order. And Sakamoto's gang. I have all the actors! When they all come together, what'll happen?! My camera will capture whoever is left standing at the end!
