But what happens when that comforting sanctuary latches on and refuses to let you go?
Vanya MacFarland is princess of the werewolves and mate to Draven.
They found each other on the Irish shoreline and their love quickly bloomed into something so beautiful, it was enough to make even the gods envious.
Which led to their doom...
Macha, goddess of battle and sovereignty, could not abide that love.
She imprisoned Vanya in the cruelest way imaginable, then cursed Draven to bear witness to her torture. That is when Vanya slipped into her own mind to escape the torment.
Now, she is safe in Draven’s arms once more… but she is unable to go to him.
Will she be able to find her way back into reality?
Or is she destined to finally fall as her memories fray and disappear?
'The sky went from black to red as the last star fell, lighting the horizon on fire. The flames reached up, then stretched across the crimson sky, sealing the world in a blazing dome. Humid air was pushed down from the atmosphere, sending steam up from the waves. Vanya forced herself from Draven and took off. She fought the pull of the now waist deep waters as she struggled to make it to shore. When her feet met dry land, she gathered her courage and turned to her mate. But it wasn’t him. It was his face, and his body… but not him. His long black hair turned to dark brown waves. His slanted eyes widened, the blackness turning to a deep blue that matched her own. Then she was looking at herself.'
Ashton Abbott is an anxiety ridden hot mess most of the time. I can say that because I’m talking about myself. This is kind of therapeutic. I write paranormal romance, dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic paranormal romance, and horror in the near future. I like to think I write on the grittier side of things. Is grittier a word? I guess this is my book so I can do whatever I want. Grittier is officially a word according to this book. Geez I’m bad at this. Ok, about me. I am a Mom to two beautiful hellions. I have a smokin’ hot husband. I love them even though they can have an attitude sometimes. Honestly, it’s karma because so do I. How long does this thing have to be? I enjoy reading and gaming when I have a moment to actually take a breath and chill. Epson salt baths! I play the shit out of some Minecraft. I actually genuinely love hearing from my readers so don’t be shy! I post a ton of memes on my Facebook page and am not above getting into best meme contest so feel free to challenge me. BYYYEEEE!
This book caught me much more than Abbott's other book Necromancer Rising (also a very good read). I'm not sure if it's just my unfamiliarity with the genre or the medium of novel vs novella or content. Maybe a little of all three that tipped this book. Vivid description and very well written. This was a fun read. I think we'll see a lot more from this author.
This book was so intense. You see the story of Vanya and Draven, two shifters, one of land and one of sea, fall in love and bind themselves together forever. What you realize is that you are seeing this as memories inside Vanyas mind. She was cursed by a goddess who wanted Draven to herself. Now Draven is fighting to bring her out of her own tortured mind to finally be with him. I loved this book it was so great.

I loved this so much, I just thought it was so beautiful, I loved how Draven refused to leave Vanya’s side, but that it was still Vanya, who was going to have to save herself from her prison. Absolutely fantastic with an unbreakable bond, pure love and I don’t think I could have liked it more.

I was absolutely thrilled to see that Vanya and Draven got their own story. We originally meet them in Necromancer Rising where we learn about the tragedy that is their love story. Lovers Lost provides us with a view of Vanya and Draven’s life after Necromancer Rising, as well as details into how their life together began. The story is told in Draven’s “now” and Vanya’s “then” perspectives. The beginning of their life together is unfolded in such a vivid and bewitching way that you can’t resist getting swept up in it. Bittersweet is an apt description for this love story. The majority of the time that I was reading it my heart absolutely broke for Draven. His unwavering bond with Vanya is breathtaking and admirable. I really appreciated this novella between Necromancer Rising and the next story in the Raedan Warrior series and I think you will too!
Soul mates, Draven and Vanya, separated and cursed by a jealous goddess for their undying love. Reunited but still so far apart. Vanya is trapped in her mind and forced to live out her final days on a loop. It just might be the end of her. Draven will do whatever it takes to save her, but does Vanya have what it takes to save herself?
Ashton does it again! Unbreakable love, terrible heartache, and sexy romance will leave you aching for more in the best way possible.
Lovers Lost by Ashton Abbott is a wonderful story that I have read. I loved reading this story so much cause it was written by a brand new author with has wolf shifters and I can not wait to see what else this author will write I loved this story. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about wolf shifters, romantic suspense, dark and paranormal romances.

Heat Factor: There’s a lot of steam in this novella.
Character Chemistry: You would think that with these two being separated by a whole consciousness and constant injuries it wouldn’t be this hot but these two could light a glass of water on fire.
Plot: This is a supporting novella that can be standalone, but it does tie into the Raedan Warrior Series and delves into the saving of Vanya from her imprisonment and recovery.
Overall: This is a really well-paced, dark and steamy paranormal novella and I highly recommend reading it as part of the series.
After reading Necromancer Rising I hoped we’d see what happened with Vanya and Draven, and thank heaven Ashton Abbott did not disappoint!
In this perfectly short novella, we see what happens with the raging and violent Vanya, who is quite literally out of her mind after being tormented by the goddess Macha. Her husband, Draven, has to coax her back into reality or risk losing her forever–but Vanya is living in the early days of their courtship and has no desire to leave. Draven is part water-horse and requires frequent ocean visits, so his energy is constantly sapped as he refuses to leave Vanya’s side. As much as Draven wants to save her, Vanya, the once-shrinking violet, is going to have to save herself.

This is my second book from Ashton Abbott and I must say that she once again delivered it. It's an amazing love story with anguish, and true love, and packed with lots of intrigues.
Vanya and Draven are true soulmates and their love for one another is endless. I was delighted with Draven's courtship strategy for Vanya and this to me added a special element. I found myself questioning the uncertainty of the "happily ever after" and whether it would come for them, this drew me in even more. Other wonderful characters are in it briefly making it a more captivating read. Not to mention that this darkly romantic story is a page-turner and an easy read.
Finally, this book was an exciting read for me and I recommend it to everyone.

Super short and lovely prequel background for the Raedan Warrior series giving us a background on Vanya and Draven. Draven really is so beautiful in this novella - he is exceedingly patient and loving and everything Vanya needs to bring her back from the brink, and then like a valkyrie she rises to her power. Loved it.

I was blown away. This is one emotional read and also a story of the depths true love can go through to be with your one and only. Vanya and Draven's story is sweet and emotional. I felt Draven's pain and I found myself screaming at my Kindle for Vanya to wake up.
Although I didn't read the first book, I was able to follow this one. It proves that no matter how deep the turmoil or trauma that your mind may be in, that true love can bring you back from the brink of despair.
A love that can withstand the test of time. Vanya and Draven are it. Trying to break the curse and remember the love they have. Such a great read. God and goddesses are awful...just saying.

Fantastic! This is a novella and I loved it I have read them all and think this one is my favorite they are all semi stand alones in a shared world amazing job!!
Such tortured tales of love and magic. It immerses you completely and you get lost within the pages while time whiles away and you walk away blissfully fulfilled from a very good book.
A mind is a very complicated thing. Vanya is reliving her life with Draven but unbeknownst to her as she thinks its reality. Draven is trying everything to bring his soul mate back to him. This book is a beautifully told story of a tortured person finding sanctuary within their happy memories. But time is running out and the splits of Vanyas minds will succumb to the final torture if she doesnt wake herself up. Ashton writes so beautifully that you can feel Dravens pain as he feels that hes losing his love. I was almost ready to join her in death that's how much I was in pain with him. 5 stars to you Ashton! Now give me more Raedan stories!!!
