Katie's Highlander

Rate this book
A brooding Highland warrior straight out of ancient Scotland can’t stay broody long when a modern woman with a zest for life crashes into his life.

Ramsay MacDara wishes the goddesses had left his arse back in the tenth century. That way he never would have met the gold digger who made a fool out of him. A loner at heart, Ramsay is riding his beloved horse through the woods near his family’s North Carolina theme park, Highland Life and Legends, when he hears tires squealing—followed by a thud—and rushes to the scene to help. That’s when he lays eyes on a pair of long legs sticking out of the moon roof of a car. His interest piqued, the rest of her will soon arouse his greatest desires . . . and deepest fears.

Archaeologist Katie Jenson is on a six-month sabbatical from her job at Princeton University. Following the death of her beloved father—whose dying request was for Katie to live life to the fullest—she’s headed to a friend’s beach house in North Carolina. But a momentary distraction takes her off the road and on the journey of her life . . . with a warrior god in a kilt at her side. Ramsay’s passion is the stuff of legend—and it just may be Katie’s greatest discovery.

If you love super steamy romances about alpha Highlander warriors from tenth-century Scotland and the modern-day women who not only vex them but steal their hearts—then this is the story for you!

I have been such a fan of this fun series that Maeve Greyson has written here. Maeve Greyson has such a sharp wit to her books and I am always finding myself so entertained by her books here. For those new to the series, this series focuses on one family, who lived in the highlands but then to protect a sacred stone of the goddess they are brought forward in time. And Katie’s Highlander is Ramsay’s book here.

Our story begins when Ramsay has lost faith will ever finding someone to love or to marry or have a family like his brothers. Then he comes across a young woman in a car crash and when he rescues her and takes her back to the “keep” which is his family’s home in North Carolina where they have settled in modern times, he is captivated by this feisty woman. There is such strong chemistry but Katie has her own plans for the future. But as a scientist of history, she appreciates how Ramsay and his family are with their history and traditions. But Katie’s life is turned into something of a drea when she and Ramsay find themselves back in the highlands, hundreds of years before she was born and she is having to work with Ramsay to find a way back home. But Ramsay is at home in the highlands, but its not her time, and Katie will have to make a choice whether or not to return to the future alone or make a life with Ramsay in the past…

I really had such a fun time with this book and loved the time travel from modern era to the past that this author implements. I just love this family and how they look at life. They definitely have a unique perspective on what is really important considering they grew up in the highlands but then came forward in time. Ramsay unlike his brothers, craves the time he was born into. He has never felt fully at ease in the modern century and we see how much he comes fully into himself when they travel back in time. How much more self assured and confident he is in leading the clans. But there is one problem...our heroine wants to go back home.

Now for Katie, I did struggle with her at times. She is very strong willed, independent and headstrong and that gets her into trouble. And its these qualities that get her thrown back in time although she doesn’t really think that way. She does take everything in stride though, and doesn’t get too panicky and so I did admire her strength throughout this story and seeing how she faces up to everything. I did find that she could be a bit annoying at times, there were aspects of her character that I really found frustrating. We do how she realizes that love is more important that superficial things like coffee and working plumbing. Ramsay has been in love with her almost instantly from meeting her, but Katie takes quite a bit longer to realize the depth of feelings that she has for him. But Ramsay, he is so patient and understanding and respectful of whatever choice she is willing to make even if it means him being alone the rest of his life.
What matters in life is making memories with someone you love. Memories that no one -not time, the gods, angels, or demons can ever take away.

The romance is two sided, we see the perspective of both Ramsay and Katie and they both fall in love with each other at different times so this story does introduce the “unrequited love” trope but I did love seeinig Katie come into her own strength as she is faced with a challenge she never imagined possible and how she comes to realize that being with Ramsay, the man she loves is worth the sacrifice. I found Katie’s Highlander to be a heartwarming and laugh out loud tale that was very amusing and will keep you smiling for days!!

I had read the first book in this series and was intrigued by the premise of this one.

I liked Katie and Ramsay well enough. She’s sassy and he’s stoic and together they had a lot of potential. I would have liked to see more of them getting to know each other. Instead, they’re thrown into this weird situation and all of a sudden they’re in love. When it came to feelings and chemistry, it was definitely all tell and no show.

Plot wise, it was quick and slow at the same time. For me, this mostly read like a novella and that’s where the downfall was. Nothing felt fleshed out and while the story moved along, the rhythm was quite clunky and forced.

Overall, it was a quick read that kept me entertained. I definitely feel like there’s more to be known about this situation. If there’s another book, I would be interested.

Katie's Highlander by Maeve Greyson is book Three in the Highlander Protector Series. This is the story of Katie Jenson and Ramsay MacDara. I have read the previous books (Loved Them) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do this.
Katie is a Archaeologist who just lost her father a few months ago. On break she is traveling through
North Carolina where she ends up getting into a accident. Ramsay happens to find her and takes her back to his family home. Ramsay isn't trusting of love or his feelings since he was scorned by a women. So he tries to fight his growing feelings but the goddesses and his family isn't allowing that. Katie finds Ramsay attractive but he gives mix feelings back not to mention his strange family.
Loved this book and the series!

Katie’s Highlander by Maeve Greyson is the third book in her Highland Protector series. The novel is a historical romance with a twist. Though this is the third in a series, and I have not read the previous two novels, the author has done an excellent job in making it a standalone.

The MacDara’s are a Druid clan and have always been chosen as protectors of the goddesses, Danu, Scota and Bride. The family has been transported through time from medieval Scotland to present-day North Carolina, but are transported back in time whenever the goddesses deem that their services are needed to protect them and an ancient relic known as the Heartstone. There are four MacDara sons. Alec (Sadie’s Highlander), Grant (Joanna’s Highlander), Ramsay whose romantic tale is told here in Katie’s Highlander and youngest son Ross, whose story I assume will be told in the next installment of the series.

Katie Jenson, archaeologist and professor at Princeton University, crashes her car in scenic Brady, North Carolina and is rescued from her folly by Ramsay MacDara, Highland warrior born in 884 AD and keeper of the sacred spear. The two personalities clash, but love blossoms when the couple is transported back in time to tenth century Scotland. I was taken with both handsome, kilted Ramsay and Katie, whose internal commentary kept me laughing. The story takes some interesting twists, and the plot held my attention the entire time. I loved the ending so much that I actually cried.

I have read many time-travel romance novels, and Katie’s Highlander is certainly among the best. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I plan to read the previous two novels in the series, which I immediately purchased upon completion of this one, and eagerly await the next. I recommend this book to lovers of historical romance and fans of time-travel. If you abhor well-written fiction, this is certainly not the book for you.

My thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Book three, Katie's Highlander, of the Highlander Protector series, is Katie and Ramsay's story. I have read the first two books, but they are not required reading to enjoy Katie's Highlander!

Katie is travelling through North Carolina enroute to visit friends when she crashes her car. Ramsay finds her, helps remove her from the car, and takes her to his family's house. He is immediately taken with Katie and her straight forward, no b.s. ways. His history with women is tainted so he doesn't quite trust what he is feeling. Katie is an archaeologist and equally attracted to Ramsay and his relics, but not sure if he's for real.

Maeve Grayson takes us on a time travel adventure finding true love. Both of these two give each other hot and cold vibes. I was glad to see them finally give in and just feel! I loved Ramsay and all his witty comments in his head! Such a funny man! The star of the show was the book's ending! The journey was entertaining and kept me intrigued, but the ending was the piece de resistance! It was so heartfelt and endearing it gave me goosebumps!

I highly recommend Katie's Highlander and the entire Highlander Protector series! Each book is such a delightful and captivating read!

I voluntarily chose to review a gifted copy of this book from NetGalley. The rating and review are my personal opinion.

What's not to like about a highlander time traveling to modern day? Not a lot but this one can go back to the tenth century when deemed by the gods and take you with him! Ramsey MacDara just wants to be left in his century but it is not to be at the moment. In North Carolina with his family until he can get back, he comes upon a car wreck with Archaeologist Katie Jenson in the car.
Then it begins! Prepare to be taken on a unexpected journey that is really a lot of fun with the dialogue and quips by Katie. Listening to Ramsey and his thoughts was really entertaining. The back story of the goddesses and why Ramsey was sent to modern times and met with Katie are an inspired premise. As the two find that attraction, all bets are off. Yes, please send me with a highlander like Ramsey back to Scotland!! Great story!

I really enjoyed Katie's Highlander. The details were a big part of what made the story so interesting, but the romance between Katie and Ramsay and her struggle to accept life in the 10th century after living in 2016 was very realistic and compelling. Missing things like tampons, aspirin and coffee are true life and down to earth details that I really appreciated. Their love story and the people surrounding it were also well written. I started with Book 3 instead of Book 1 so I have some catching up to do but Katie's Highlander came totally be read as a stand alone. I definitely want to read more of Maeve Greyson's work!

An archaeologist with a zest for life finds herself stranded in small-town North Carolina—with a brooding Highland hunk who’s straight out of ancient Scotland.

Archaeologist Katie Jenson is on a six-month sabbatical from her job at Princeton University. Following the death of her beloved father—whose dying request was for Katie to live life to the fullest—she’s headed to a friend’s beach house in North Carolina. But a momentary distraction takes her off the road and on the journey of her life . . . with a sex god in a kilt at her side

Ramsay MacDara wishes the goddesses had left his arse back in the tenth century. That way he never would have met the gold digger who made a fool out of him.
Transplanted from his home in the highlands in the tenth century Ramsay would be happier if he could return to his own time.

This is the third book in this time travel series. I have read all three and they just keep getting better. This book is an interesting twist on Time Travel Romance and even if you missed books 1 & 2 you wouldn't be lost because each one reads well as a standalone.
This is a not to be missed series if you like hunky highlanders, a great deal of magic and unexpected romance thrown in for good measure.
The characters fit the bill in this book set in the mountains of North Carolina. A very fitting venue for a transplanted family of tenth century highlanders.
I gave this book 5 of 5 stars for storyline and character development. If I could I would give this one 5.75 stars because it is better than the other in this series I gave 5 stars.
I received a complmentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Highland Protector #3

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ramsay MacDara wishes that the goddesses had left him back in the tenth century. Then he never would have met the gold digger who made a fool out of him. He learned the hard way and now guards his heart. Ramsay is riding his horse through the woods near his family's North Carolina theme park, Highland Life and Legends, when he hears the sound of tires squealing followed by a loud thud. Rushing to help, he sees a pair of long legs sticking out of the Moon roof of a car.

Katie Jenson is an archaeologist who is on a six month sabbatical from her job at Princeton University. Katie has just lost her father, whose dying request was for Katie to live life to the fullest. She was on her way to a friend's beach house when she ended up crashing her car. Little does Katie know that this distraction will take her on quite the journey with a sexy man in a kilt. Ramsay's passion is the stuff of legend- and it just may be Katie's greatest discovery ever.

Now, this was one heck of a book. Maeve Greyson is absolutely magnificent. I was so into this book that I didn't want to stop reading for any reason. These two main characters were perfect. This story went in a different direction than the others, and I, for one, loved it. It doesn't get better than this. If you like time travel you need to read this book.
This is one of those books that you can't say enough about. All I know is that when Ms. Greyson puts her pen to paper watch out because you know a good book is coming your way.

Ramsay McDara wishes he could be sent back to the tenth century in order to forget the disastrous relationship he just experienced in the present. Archaeologist Katie Jenson is on a six month vacation in North Carolina when her car gets stuck in a ditch. Ramsay sees the car and offers his assistance. When they set eyes on one another, their lives are linked… and changed forever.
This was a great historical romance with enough heat and suspense to keep the pages turning. I loved the main characters and how they grew in their love for one another. I loved the way the author used the time change in this story to show the growth of science and medicine. I can’t wait to read the next story. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.

Eons ago...
Of all the Druid clans, the strongest was the goddesses of the MacDara bloodline. More devoted and trained by the warrior goddess. MacDara men and their sons mastered the four relic weapons sword, hammer, shield and spear. No better archers could be found but MacDara females.

Yet the MacDara clan were gifted with the highest honor. That is to guard and protect the blessed Heartstone. This is an ancient relic that contains a special unique energy that made every human’s life special, unique and worth living. To love, hope, evolve and live, without this gift civilization on earth would not be the same. Plus eventually the world would cease to exist. Yet as time went on the meaning of the stone and the lore was forgotten, lost in the circle of time and the mist. Though not forgotten by all existing by the Druid clans.

The MacDara descendents know exactly the cost. As in the tenth century they were brutally attacked and knows what it nearly cost their existence! Yet the three goddesses save Ramsay Danaan MacDara, his two older brothers, his parents, younger sister and bring them to North Carolina in the twenty-first century . The MacDara’s will protect the blessed stone at any cost. As they know they must thrive and never cease to exist! No matter what century the goddesses place them in to save and protect.

17 years later in the future.
North Carolina, present day 2018

I have been reading Ms Greyson for years and again another book I loved! **

On a personal note my husband has been working for Princeton University for over 25 years.

The MacDara Family in 900 a.d. broch in the highlands of Scotland were under attack and wouldn't have survived. So the Goddesses sent them to the future to present day, North Carolina. This was not only to preserve their lives but so they could continue to protect the Heartstone as this was their legacy. Theses stories began when the four sons were ages twenty through fourteen. The first book, Sadie’s Highlander is 20 year old Alec’s story began 15 years after they were relocated in the future. The second story, Joanna’s Highlander, was Grants story, 16 years later. Now is is the third brother Ramsay Danaan’s turn 17 years later. As they are all aging naturally after their time-travel shift.

Brady North Carolina, present day 2019
Seventeen years since shifted to the future.

The hero of this story is Ramsay Danaan MacDara known as Ramsay. He thought by now like his older brothers Alec and Grant, he would be married by now. Unfortunately he came close, but the woman was only using him for his family's wealth with no love in her heart. He now wishes the Goddesses had left him back in the tenth century with no broken heart! So he has trust issues now with the fairer sex, plus he has always been more comfortable with his four legged furry friends. Plus he being from another time it is difficult for Ramsay to see and detect a woman’s duplicity, treachery and
betrayal him and using him for her own selfish, deceptive, and disloyal desires. Now he just spends his time alone with his animals.

That is until one day he is taking his horse for an evening ride and hears a car accident. Of course the honorable highlander he is goes to help the lass. After all that has been imbedded in him since birth. So he goes and finds a bonny female arse sticking out of the mangled car. He then rescues his damsel in distress bringing her home. Although he keeps thinking this is a big mistake, but how could he turn his back and not leave the lass stranded in the dark woods!

Katie Jensen, the heroine of this story is an archeologist. She is taking a six month sabbatical leave from her job, in the garden state. This is at Ivy League, Princeton University, on Nassau Street in Princeton, New Jersey. Her father passed away a few weeks ago as she is still grieving. In addition her fathers last dying wish was for Katie to appreciate, savor and live her life to the fullest and highest degree of happiness! So on impulse she decided to do a road trip to her friend’s beach house in North Carolina. Unfortunately this is when she totals her vehicle! Luckily she finds herself rescued by the hottest man she has ever seen in her life! On top of that he has the most sexy Scottish brogue, dressed in a kilt, with a body to match. Yet as she gets to know Ramsay her inquisitive and curious mind wants to find out more! The attraction is instant between both of them, yet she also gets mixed signals from Ramsay. To Katie, he is like a traffic light she doesn't know if she should stop of go?

Will Ramsay continue to believe that the Goddesses put Katies in his path or will he trust his own heart? Could it be his forced destiny or true love? However he so suspicious and untrusting of his attraction to Katie. His heart had been so shattered and trust broken by his ex-fiance he can’t believe in faith or love? In addition he worries its supernatural elements trying to force the match. He isn't sure what and who he can trust?

Are Katies feelings for Ramsay true? Could he be just another test sample from the past to be examined, tested and analyzed? Possibly her best subject and finding of a lifetime!

Will Ramsay feel used again but not for wealth this time? As it would be for his families treasured secrets, due to Katie’s archeologists interest and curious mind. Can these two ever find a happily ever after? A book readers don't want to miss!

Katie Jensen managed to get her car stuck in the forests of Brady North Carolina. When Katie goes back for her laptop she gets herself wedged in the moon roof of the car. Suddenly a highland knight in shining armor comes to her rescue; Katie is not only relieved but also her savior Ramsay MacDara is a dream come true. Ramsay doesn’t know what else to do but take Katie home. His family welcomes her with open arms but Katie is a little bit suspicious. As Katie learns more about Ramsay and his eccentric family she can’t help but love them. Katie really likes Ramsay despite thinking he’s crazy. When Ramsay’s father betroths Katie to Ramsay; Ramsay can no longer hide who he really is a druid protector for the goddesses. Katie likes Ramsay but isn’t ready to be his wife. Still it seems the marriage is unbreakable. When Katie is determined to run away from Ramsay they are both taken back to 10th century Scotland. Ramsay loves being back but Katie is bound and determined to get back to the future no matter what. Will Ramsay and Katie find their true destiny in Scotland or will they end up losing everything anyway?
What an amazing adventure filled time travel story! The story moves unhurriedly and the characters despite their flaws are easily liked. Yes it would have been nice to have a more definite separation of the timelines but this isn’t really a complicated book and everything still manages to work out well anyway. We fell in love with the MacDara’s from the very beginning in Sadie’s book with Alec; then of course Grant found his love and now it’s Ramsay’s turn to find love but it’s not without a fight. Luckily this book can also be read as a standalone without any problems but just to understand the family dynamic then it won’t hurt to start from the very beginning. Ramsay the bull-headed handsome shy hero has his issues with women so it’s understandable about his apprehension with Katie. Ramsay manages to be a great swoon-worthy guy. That sure it is easy to fall for him from the get go. Katie the stubborn feisty heroine does have her irritating moments being almost a little flighty and foolhardy despite her intelligence. Of course being around Ramsay kind of wasn’t easy for her either. Still Katie despite her faults is forgivable. The author knows how to not only write a good story but keep it engrossing until the very last page!

“Things pass through our lives—easy to gain, easy to lose. What matters in life is making memories with someone you love. Memories that no one, not time, the gods, angels, or demons, can ever take away.”

The MacDara Clan has found favor with the ancient druid goddesses. Known throughout the Highlands of Scotland as the Protectors, the MacDara’s travel back and forth in time, as the goddesses wish, to fulfill their sworn duties to protect the Heartstone, an ancient relic filled with energy that makes mortal life worth living. Ramsay MacDara has never been one to shirk his duty as a Protector, but living in modern day North Carolina is not his passion, and he feels lost and alone in a world that doesn’t understand him. That is until he stumbles upon a beautiful damsel in distress.

Katie Jenson has always put her job as a professor and archaeologist first. Resolving herself to a life of no romance, she can’t believe she’s being rescued by one verra hawt man in a kilt! Curiosity gets the better of Katie, and she finds herself swept up in not only the arms of her highlander, but swept back in time as well.

As the days pass, Katie and Ramsay learn that fate has placed them in each other’s path for a reason. Fear of the unknown becomes an obstacle neither can move, and could cost them their happily ever after.

Katie’s Highlander is the first book by Maeve Greyson that I have read, but it will not be the last! I found myself swept away within the first few pages, and did not want the story to end. Loved this impossible to put down historical romance and highly recommend!

Firstly, I want to say I just love this story. Maeve Greyson has a way of entwining a story in such a way you feel like you are right there. I love historical but more importantly I just love time travel and yes, that was before I knew what Outlander was.
I could hear their speech, their antics, the clothing they wore. How they became to be where they are. Katie cracked me up, talk about a temper. Geez.. haha..
Katie thought Ramsey MacDara was sexy, hot, and very likeable. But she also thought him to be a pushy Scot. She tested his patients to no end, then she finds herself in a Hand fasting. Or was it??? It is so much more.
Ramsey, finds himself in dire-straits with the ambitious woman who has him all tied up in knots. He doesn’t understand it and doesn’t trust his own thoughts anymore. Nevertheless, he likes her smart mouth and her ambition.
He wants to get to know her, even if he has been burned before.
Can he trust own wants, desires again and; can she believe someone will accept her for what she does?
If you enjoy adventure, romance, time travel, a sexy Scot, and overzealous woman you will love this story.

I just love the cover, and have read all of the Highlander Protector books. Thank you for the gift. I say gift because to me it is.

I have followed Maeve to get the ones I find! This is the one in this book. I am also looking for books with Scotland! Katie crashed with druids help! Watch it for the Goddesses-Danu- Bride and Scots! Ramsay came to her rescue. Katie met the parents. She comes when they come up to dance to go Time Travel. Their end is in another time. The Goddesses watch and work of them. Katie wants to go home. Ramsay wants to still stay here. There are lots of argues! This is a very twisting and turning here. I enjoyed to read this book but also keep the tissues too! You could learn some new things on Scotland. I did. I will recommend for this reading!

Katie was driving through North Carolina on her way to enjoy a weeks vacation with friends when she wrecks her car. Trying to reach her laptop bag by climbing down through the moon rood, her battery dies as the glass moves to pin her in. Rescued vy Ramsay MacDara, a transplanted Scot full of secrets. Turns out the family MacDara has been seth forth to the present to protect the hearthstone. The sons (including Ramsay) are often sent back in time to protect different clans, etc. Right after Ramsay and Katie are married by Ramsay’s father (a powerful druid) they are sent back in time. It turns out Katie and Ramsay are fated, placed together by the goddesses Bride, Danu, and Scota whom the MacDara’s serve.
This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This story has intrigued me enough that I will be getting the first two books in the series and reading those as well.
The plot was great, the writing wonderful and I can’t wait to see who the next book is about.
I received a copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

Sometimes katie just needs a little compromise with her man, "what Ramsay said made sense, but she’d never be able to pee with him standing guard beside her. “Can you at least stand on the other side of the bush, so I can have a little privacy?” Ramsay just wants to stay in his woman's arms at times, “Duty be damned,” Ramsay groaned, as he hoisted Katie up to straddle him..." I really liked this book, I loved Ramsay.

Katie's Highlander is part of the engaging time travel series by Maeve Greyson. This is a series that has gotten better and better as it continues. I like the setting of the NC small town. I like the way the characters try to preserve the past that they were ripped from. I like how they did so in a fun way. I will never look at a theme park again without wondering, “What If????”.

I like the characters especially Ramsay. I started out thinking that Katie was fun woman, a brilliant woman who was also scatterbrained. She was looking at the stars through the moonroof when she should have been watching the road while driving. Before long I was dismayed by her language. She is educated so why resort to easy profanity; she should have many words in her vocabulary to use instead. Also for someone who claims not to fall into a bad mood over circumstances she manages to do so quite a bit.

The plot is solid with a twist, then add some matchmaking that kept the story interesting. However, it is the epilogue that is priceless.

4.5 Stars. I wanted to say 5 stars but there were times, I found Katie to be a disappointment.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Transplanted, along with his family, from his medieval castle in the Scottish highlands and the year 900 A.D. to modern day North Carolina, Ramsay MacDara is an enigma to say the least. He's a member of the MacDara clan, an ancient druid family responsible for protecting the heartstone, an ancient relic that is the key to humanity's need for love and hope to progress. When out for a late night ride on his horse, Ramsay encounters Katie, stuck in her wrecked car, and rescues her. Due to the late hour, he brings her back to his family's castle, attached to the Highlands-themed amusement park his family runs. Archaeologist Katie knows authentic history when she sees it and has many questions, which Ramsay attempts to dodge, though as a protector, he generally does not lie, he must in this instance to protect the heartstone. Having just recently gotten out of a relationship with a cold fiance who really only wanted his money, Ramsay thought he'd be married by now and is thinking he'll just remain unattached. Even though protectors are meant to love and be loved, he figures he has two brothers who are married and have children who'll be the future protectors, so it doesn't really matter if he finds love or not.

Katie is baffled to be rescued by an attractive man on horseback and in full highland dress, carrying a spear no less, but her archaeological curiosity is peaked by his archaic way of speaking and then by his home, which she recognizes the genuine medieval elements of, and the ancient Gaelic symbols carved on the spear's hilt. Ramsay's father, Emrys, high chief of all the druid clans, is not exactly the most lucid person all the time after his stress filled life and the leap through centuries, but he has seen Katie in his frequent visions and he expects her to be joined with his son--and has no problems sharing this information with her, leaving Ramsay with lots of explaining to do. When Ramsay is informed that Katie has been sent for him, he's pretty annoyed. Sure he'd like to get to know her, but on his own terms and without any matchmaking. Katie is just passing through temporarily until her wrecked car is repaired, but Ramsay finds he doesn't want her to leave. But when he's forced to explain the truth to her, will there be any way to stop her running for the hills? When the two are cast back in time together, their fledgling acquaintance is forced to develop quickly and may run into even more snags when Ramsay is happy to remain in the past.

So I'm not big on time travel usually (excluding Outlander, of course), but encountering hot highlanders plunked down in modern times was so original, I was intrigued. Even Ramsay's inner monologue is written in a Scottish brogue style, which was a bit annoying to read sometimes, but it helped me keep in mind that Ramsay is from not only a different country, but a much older century, and was raised there until age 16, so it's very much who he is. Honestly, Katie was a right little witch for much of the book, but to be fair, I'm not sure I would've handled the situation any better. I just felt like at times Katie was a bit of an overly exaggerated caricature of the 'modern woman.' It also bothered me that Katie and Ramsay never discussed his ex-fiancee. She was mentioned by his dad as the "demonness" so Katie definitely knew about her and it would've made sense in the development of Katie and Ramsay's relationship as a discussion they should have, yet she's just never mentioned again.

For me I think the ending was a little contrived and slightly less than satisfying, but it was still a happy one and I'm interested to see where Ms. Greyson takes this series next. This trope isn't usually my thing, but I want to read the other installments of this series now because they seem so different and original.

Katie Jensen is smart, funny and an archaeologist. Her father and nanny were always looking for answers. Her father taught her to pick herself up and to carry on. Ramsay MacDara is a protector. He tends to the animals and believes he will lead a solitary life. He has made peace with that but the Goddesses have another thing in mind. Katie has crashed into his life and nothing has been the same. She charges ahead and leads with her heart. Ramsay is having a hard time keeping up. Know this, she has crawled into his heart from the very first time he sees her. There are things she is guessing about his family home and relics. She has no idea what is to come. First she is handfasting with Ramsay. Next they are told to stay on the path. Following directions is not Katie's strong suit. She is transported back in time and is in shock. From the moment she arrives in that time, she wants to go back. Ramsay has found the place where he belongs. Will love bring them back to the future or will they stay. Love that Orkney Island was mention in this book.

I got a free copy of this book through NetGalley. It is my first book from this author and my first in this series. I feel like I've been missing out. I loved this book -- the characters, the plot, the descriptions, the history, the themes, all of it! This is a book well worth reading and I am hoping to read more from this series, and from this author.

Time travel, hot Scot, steamy romance - everything in one book!

I didn't know what to expect going into this book, but the entire story was a delightful departure from typical romances. Ramsay is stuck in the modern world when he meets Katie, but their adventures take them back to his original time and their romance is set amid the influences and decisions that straddle both worlds.

The writing was exceptional, the characters and settings were vibrant and enchanting, and the emotional impact drove the story to a legendary HEA. It was a terrific book, and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I did not want to stop reading this story! I loved Katie's strength of character with her natural sweetness and caring personality. She could not leave someone in need. Ramsay was a gruff yet gentle man, carrying the burdens of the family secrets and a bad past relationship. It was interesting how these two figured out what was the right thing to do. There were smiles, giggles, and tears as I turned these pages. I highly recommend this story.

I received an ARC through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Katie`s Highlander, Ramsey, is quite the man as all the MacDaras are. He is soured on love since he was duped by a false love (in a previous book) until he meets Katie. They get off on the wrong foot, but soon their mutual attraction takes over. I love Maeve Greyson`s storylines. They are always filled with intrigue, danger, romance, a little fantasy, and of course brawny Scots. This is book three in her Highland Protectors series. Although I would have enjoyed the book more if there was not so much profanity coming out of Katie`s mouth. It adds nothing to the story and for me is a real turnoff. Fortunately Katie`s potty mouth tended to be absent the last third of the book. That part of the book was very good, profanity unnecessary! Hopefully the next heroine ( for Ross I would think) will have cleaner language.

Katie's Highlander (Highlander Protector, #3) by Maeve Greyson ... I love this series...they just keep getting better and better... Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview and review this book. Time travel-romance at its best. Ramsey MacDara (Protector ...from the 10th century) Katie Jenson (Archaeologist ) After he saves her from her car...they are drawn together and do some traveling.... I love a book that makes me feel part of it as this one did....some sadness, lots of laughs, adventure and lots of steamy sex all leading to a very HEA....I can't wait for the next book.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read Wonderful characters Entertaining Happily Ever After Informative Funny Steamy Page-turner Romantic Action-packed

Received from NetGalley for a honest review

This book is part of a series but I liked how it can be read as a stand alone. The author did a great job of explaining the background. Katie and Ramsay are so adorable!!! I loved how the story started out and continue to flow nicely. There did not feel like there were any slow parts. I enjoyed this book so much I would like to go back and read the beginning books in the series.

Loved this story. It is very well written and keeps your attention. The time travel storyline was not what I was expecting but I loved it. To go back to the year 917 with the majority of the story being in that time made it different from the other two books in this series. There is a HEA but a lot happens first. The ending was somewhat of a surprise but it makes a beautiful love for Katie and Ramsay. This was a wonderful story and I would highly recommend it along with the other two books in this series which I have read. You will not be disappointed.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced review.

I have not read the previous books so I appreciated the info at the beginning that explained the background of the series.

Readers are informed that Ramsay had been deceived by a gold digging woman so he was not looking for his mate when Katie "crashed" into his life. He is kind of a jerk at the start so as soon as possible, Katie takes off for town.

Not knowing what she was saying, she and Ramsay end up married then thrust into the past. Wow, at this point, Ramsay is in his element and just seems so much more like before the betrayal.

They have some drama to get through and decisions to make that will impact their future. Good thing that they were able to "see" their future courses and did not make the wrong choice!

Now I need to go back and read the previous to get caught up!
