The graphic audio editions of this series are honestly the best audiobooks I've ever listened to. The writing is wonderful and how it's been edited for performance is perfect. This is narration at a high level of excellence in acting. The entire cast are phenomenal. I've listened to the series on my daily dog walks and had to wipe tears from my face and stifle my laughter. I'm guessing I was making ALL the expressions while listening to them. If you love audio and fantasy romance, these editions are a MUST. A gazillion stars!

Gwyn, Emerie and Nesta are still my favorite part of this book. Gwyn, especially. She shone brighter in this audiobook for me.

Cassian remains my favorite bat boy and only he has rights as a man. Rhys can go eff himself after this book. Azriel... jury is still out. I want to believe in him, and he better end up with Gwyn or I'll legit break down.

Can't wait for the third book in the Crescent City series. I need all the crumbs I can get of these characters.

Second read: I have to admire the character development and complexity, but I still can't find it in me to like Nesta.

This book is all about her growth and healing journey, yet she continues to lash out and purposefully hurt Feyre, Elain, and all the others who love her and try to help her.

I am in love with Cassian's voice in these dramatized adaptations. ❤️

*This is a review for the whole book*

First, I recommend reading this deleted Nesta-Cassian scene from ACOMAF before reading ACOSF because some events mentioned in ACOSF happen or are explained in this short chapter.

So Nesta had become a wolf. Armed herself with invisible teeth and claws, and learned to strike faster, deeper, more lethally. Had relished it. But when the time came to put away the wolf, she'd found it had devoured her too.

Nesta was definitely not one of my favorite characters from the ACOTAR trilogy. I saw the potential for character development, and I knew she was complex, and that her behavior was more than just her being a bitch, but I admit that a part of me was dreading reading this book. I was so excited to see more of the Court of Dreams, but I was afraid to be disappointed because this book revolves around Nesta and her journey to forgiveness and happiness. I don't love her, but she grows a lot in this book.

I love Cassian even more than I did before. He is amazing, but I also must say that there was something missing from his POVs. It's as if the author focused on giving him more depth and making him more dimensional, but while doing it, she lost the funny, sarcastic, and flirty behavior that I loved so much in the previous books. Besides that, he is great, though, and his relationship with Nesta is well developed, except maybe the "just sex" phase that lasted too long; I would have liked to see more depth in their moments together! I admire Cass's patience. He knows Nesta as a cold-hearted yet broken woman, and she's hurt him time and time again, and yet he keeps coming back for her and trying to be what she needs. They make a good combination of a sexy-yet-chaotic relationship.

There is not as much action in this book as in the previous ones (except for the last 200 pages that were quite intense; I am still not over the adrenaline rush that came with these last chapters). It is more about Nesta's healing and fighting her inner demons. I would have preferred a story centered around Lucian rather than Nesta, but at the same time, I think her story is something that we needed, and it will definitely help the plot progress further in the next books (hopefully, because it’s a long book that felt a little useless).

I think the plot is the main reason I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. Even though I enjoyed getting to know Nesta, and I adored every Cassian moment, I feel that the plot was really relayed to the background, and I still can't stand Nesta. There were some meetings with Eris and some political moves, but not much happened regarding the threat of war and the quest for allies until the end. I would have liked for the political part of the story to take more room in the book. I was expecting this book to be the beginning of a new trilogy, but it is more of a standalone romance set 14 months after the end of ACOWAR. Some clues indicate that a bigger plot is coming with the introduction of a new powerful player and new powerful relics, but that's about it.

There are no major twists in this story, which is surprising. It is a good, sexy, and funny romance (with steamy hot scenes), and a great story of redemption, acceptance, empowerment, and forgiveness. It's just that, in comparison with her other books, this one is quite basic and is missing some intricate details and plot twists that we are used to with SJM (I know that this book is supposed to be more about the characters, but I was still hoping for a better and more complex plot).

I need to finish by saying that there is not nearly enough of Lucien in this book. I MISS HIM!

I love Nesta and Cassian’s story. Her growth is awe inspiring. I love the relationships she builds and rebuilds. I’m excited to see how she fits now in the inner circle with everyone in the next book. I can’t wait for it and to see how Nyx grows. So many heart wrenching moments in this book I cried so much. I’m gonna miss super powerful Nesta but I’m hoping we get to see what remnants of her power is still there. I’m so excited for book 6!! I’ll probably re listen before it comes out. I’m not reviewing the book (I already have a review on my profile) but I just have to say that the graphic audios are incredible and I loved rereading the series this way. I highly recommend them if you love ACOTAR, the production in these audios is so good, it makes the story more intense, and the narration is amazing.

I love this book so much, I know not everyone does, and I know it’s not a perfect book, but it will always be special to me 🥹 listening to the audio made me love it even more (although I could’ve done without the smut scenes, it’s so awkward to listen to them 😬😭)

This book was my favorite book in the series.

I listened to the graphic audiobook on Libby and I CANNOT recommend that enough!!! I didn’t want to finish and rush through the book but I wanted to keep reading not being able to stop listening to this book.
Two parts I did not like were: 1- when Nesta peed on herself and that’s how Cassian found her while hiking 🥴 and how they could not perform a c-section on Feyre 🧐

Favorite characters and relationships in this book

Nesta: I did not like Nesta’s character coming into this book. I have loved Cassian and literally quinces at the way she treated him previously because you knew he loved her (maybe he was even her mate..) Nesta has great character development in the book. Her strength and love she found through the help of Cassian, Emerie and Gwyn made me so happy. I was so glad she was able to rekindle her relationship with her sisters and the night court. Nesta changing her anatomy for little baby wings in the future!! AH!

Cassian: Cassian> my favorite bat boy! He is a ride or die loyalist for those he loves. His tough protective sometimes cocky exterior verses his funny fiercely loving interior is my favorite. Cassian running the Valkyrie training camp had me laughing many a times. Also can we talk about him and Nesta 🔥 I love Cassian!

Nesta and Cassian: LOVE. I KNEW THEY WERE MATES. when Cassian had met her as a human he was already protective over her mean self. I was so happy to find out they were mates. I loved/ hated the slow tension between them that had been building up over the last few books. The sexy scenes between them!!!!!! Their ending in this book > so sweet. I love them.

Emerie: Her dad, her cousin and her backstory are so sad. She is so strong and she just needed a little push from her friends to be truly confident in herself again. I loved her love for the romance books! Her and Gwyn wining the Blood Rite with Nesta’s help was so bad ass. I could picture her toughing the stone with her clipped wings triumph over all the males who had fallen. Always cheering for her in this book!

Gwyn: Her backstory and losing her sister were heartbreaking. She was so incredibly strong and independent. She loved her friends as if they were sisters. I loved her in this book. Being the first to come train and encouraging the other women to come later. Also.. her and Az??

Nesta, Emerie and Gwyn: LOVE LOVE LOVE. I love the bond they created! The sleepover and the friendship bracelets were so sweet! I giggled when the girls found out the house could grant them things while they had their sleepover. I giggled so hard when the girls would gang up on Nesta at training and talk about her and Cassian then Cassian would make them do more exercises. I loved that Emerie got Gwyn into the beginning ramance novels. I was nervously listening when the girls were fighting in the Blood Rite. So so so happy for this girl gang!

I have loved this series. I have enjoyed fantasy but I loved the romance aspect of this series the most. The world building is deeply explored and the characters were well developed. I could talk about this series for hours.

Full review for parts one and two ohh my gosh this was truly one of the best experiences I had with Silver Flames. It’s still told in 3rd person's pov but this version makes it bearable no I take that back it makes it exceptionable lol there’s sounds and effects to go along with everything everyone’s voices are a perfect fit for them Gwen and Emery’s voices🤌🏻 Cassian and nesta’s voices changes with the mood of the sitting perfectly if it was a happy sad or angry moment their voices went along with it!

The 2nd half of this book didn’t disappoint it’s Everything anyone would want in this book because of this version if you had a hard time with the book or audio I say give this one a try you’ll either instantly love or hate it. If you’re a Cassian fan this one’s for you 😋

At least this was better than Part 1. At first, I was bothered by how OP Nesta became in the penultimate scene with the crown, the mask, and the harp, but it actually turned out pretty cool so I can't really hate that much.

The whole Nesta/Cassian thing is so violently heteronormative that my aromantic heart can't handle it. So gross. I'm done.

This is definitely not the worst series I've ever read, but romantasy is definitely not my thing.

Also, I can't with Nesta wanting Cassian's ~~~seed~~~ to drip down her leg. Sometimes, you gotta let your inner voice stay inside your head.

Oh. My. God. Wow. Part 1 was incredible, and part 2 truly is a masterpiece unlike anything I've listened to. ACOSF will always be my favourite, and these graphic audiobooks made it so much more impactful than I expected. I cried so much, everything felt so REAL and emotional. Everything about it is perfect, especially the cast. Hearing sound effects and music elevates this to movie level productions in your mind and I truly am so in awe of the fact that quotes or scenes I adored in my first read through of this still managed to hit HARDER when listening to this. Incredible. It's magic. I'm so thankful for this book, for this graphic audiobook version, and for Nesta's empowering and relatable character arc. Here's to climbing the mountain, special sisterhoods, unconditional love, and strength 🏔🧚‍♀️💪🥰💖💖💖

I really struggled with the first part of this book - Nesta was so incredibly unlikable that it made it really difficult to keep reading. It was just constant misery and moping without a single granule of cheer to keep the reader hanging on to. I’ve never shouted angrily at a character in a book so much, and I very nearly DNFed this multiple times, but only kept pushing on as I have friends who said they really enjoyed this book. I was ready to give this a one star review and then be done with it.

But - once Nesta starts her training arc and begins making some friends, she really started to grow on me and it became a lot more enjoyable to read. The second half of the book, once the more of the plot heavy stuff kicks in, was fun to read too and I enjoyed the lore and world building aspects of Nesta’s powers.

My other complaint about this book - and I can’t believe I’m saying this, as a SJM fan - is I felt like there was actually TOO MUCH sex? A lot of it lacked emotion or plot relevance and it became repetitive and many of the scenes slowed the pacing of the story rather than providing excitement or character development. There were also a few scenes where Nesta was doing something completely unrelated to sex (like training) but she was THINKING about sex explicitly and it earned many groans and shouts of “for fucks sake!!” from me. I think SJM’s editor needed to insist on pruning a few of them out to make the ones remaining feel more impactful than monotonous.

However as an audiobook, the performances in this - especially from Cassian’s actor - were brilliant, and some scenes had my jaw dropped and gasping in shock from the pure emotion from the actors. Definitely a worthwhile format to enjoy the story in!

This was reread and once again I absolutely loved it. Nesta's story is one of my favourites. I hated her in book one, from Feyre's point of view, but when you read her story and then go back and read book one again you have a whole new understanding of why she is the way she is and I love her now. I cant wait for the next installment of this series to arrive.
