I did it. It took a lot of sweat and coin, but I managed to bring the Karl back to a functioning dungeon. With my adventuring shop running in full swing, now’s the time for the second part of my building New Valley.
All that’s left for me to do is wait for the lumber I ordered to arrive so I can stake the land, start expanding and… What? What did you say? My cargo’s been stolen?
As I start investigating the incident, it becomes increasingly clear that someone’s been sabotaging my efforts on purpose… and that someone takes advantage I’m away to claim every last parcel of land in New Valley! I try to negotiate with him but that ruthless competitor will stop at nothing to take everything I’ve worked so hard for.
Follow me as I go out into the world looking for a way to stay in the game and, in the process, summon spirits, broaden my repertoire of runes and delve into new dangerous parts of the dungeon.
I thought I could get over the dragon lover thing, but alas I cannot. Between that annoying and unbelievable aspect and the boring magic system I do not recommend this book. It reads more as a slice of life merchant book then a true story centered around a growing runesmith. I also hate when authors have everyone defer to the MC. He doesn’t even have a silver tongue and he isn’t all that charming or likable and yet the authors really want you to see the MC as charming and intelligent. Not a horrible story if you can get over the nonsensical aspects that almost seem included to troll the audience. I am appropriately trolled and absolutely did not enjoy the read.
Yeah this kinda sucked for me. I gave up 53% through. It lacked what made book one fun for me. Cool crafting, city building, dungeon diving, and fun character progression. All of which was barely happening here.
This book is about a dumb merchant making business deals with manipulative shady people. A lot of politics to wade through and did I mention an MC that’s is dumb as a rock. Hard pass.
This book was about leveling up and dragged on with city building. Furthermore, some feats mentioned no rewards whatsoever so there was no pattern or method.
While 'The Runesmith's Trials' lacks in aspects like world-building, character development, and the overall story, surprisingly, I never felt compelled to put it down. I even went on to read the second book. While it's not a favorite of mine, it managed to hold my interest during a time when I didn't have access to particularly engaging reads. The experience might depend on your expectations at the time of reading; starting with lower expectations allowed me to find some enjoyment, but if you've recently read a very compelling book, you might not find the same satisfaction here.
"The second book, unfortunately, presented fewer interesting elements and was less enjoyable compared to the first. Despite this, I managed to finish it, but I find myself hesitant to continue with the third installment. The diminishing appeal suggests that the series may not be sustaining the level of engagement I initially found in the first book."
Andrew really needs to pick up an Economics book once in while. Really it wouldn't hurt to understand how economies of scale work. He keeps throwing such large numbers that it just doesn't make any sense at all. It's rather quite jarring and it immediately throws me out for a loop. It really sours the whole immersive experience. A PESANT is fined 25,000 GOLD COINS. LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. There are no bloody banks. No bags/rings of holdings. He just doesn't get the concept of money. I really loved Andrew's books but I can't give it more than 2 Stars.

Ok you got kudos for having an lgbt character or two, it still has untapped potential but it's a start. I wish the main characters was gay but his best friend is and his buddy is very interesting :-).Oh yeah I really enjoy a story plot that has gay characters rather than it being stupid smut with little to no plot. Good job, keep up the good work.
More of #1! I only had one moment where I debated to stop reading. Otherwise the world continues to have the attention span of a goldfish. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed it.
The story meanders about but is still great. The characters can make annoying choices, but they are very funny and interesting. This is a fun story with bits that will get under your skin, and I love it.
These books are fun and inspiring, amusing and groundbreaking. Bloodthirsty violence is not default solution for most of the encounters, but rather negotiation and mutual benefit - imagine that!
