Returning home to Lavender Falls should have been simple.
Ruth Peterson spent her childhood trying to gain the approval of Haley Burnham and squelch her crush on Haley’s older brother, Crosby. But after years of pushing Ruth away, Haley does the unthinkable, effectively ending their friendship and ruining any chance Ruth might have had with Crosby.
Six years later, Ruth returns home, eager to make amends so she can finally put the past behind her and move on with her life. Until she learns that not only will she have to confront Haley but Crosby as well.
As devastating news is revealed and secrets are uncovered, Ruth must decide how far she is willing to go for the girl who took everything away from her.
This women's fiction with a strong romantic subplot is perfect for fans of Nicole Deese, Lynn Austin, and Susie Finkbeiner.
Endorsement: “Neverending Mercy is a relatable and realistic story of how God can redeem the most broken situations and people around us. Sexton tackles difficult topics with a delicate hand while delivering a page-turner storyline. A true beauty-from-ashes novel in the best possible sense.” -Caitlin Miller, author of The Memories We Painted and Our Yellow Tape Letters
What an amazing and powerful book.....had me so curious as to what was the spiteful and snaky measure one of the main characters Haley had one to her friend Ruth..... Yeah, pretty rotten and embaressing. It was a truly Christian book through and through with such wonderfully kind yet still not perfect/ human as we all certainly are. The forgiveness and reconciliation theme was quite prevalent although naturally not easily come about on our own strengths of course! Actions can have devastating ,long term impacts on others with their hurts etc as many of know all too well. I found it uplifting and encouraging while realistic with some typical teenage reckless ways and others sleeping around in hook ups....Thank you so much to my Goodread's friend Diane for the recommendation! My first but not last, as I won't mind reading others by this new to me author :) Certainly ideal for teens and young adults especially as I did buy with my own YA daughter in mind as well.
When I tell you I WEPT as I read this story like I've never wept before. It was such an incredible story and journey through Ruth and Crosby's lives. God's love, forgiveness, and redemption was woven through the plot seamlessly and I absolutely adored each and every moment.
If I could give this story an infinite ♾️ number of stars ⭐️ I would. This book BLEW ME AWAY. The banter between Ruth and Crosby as adults, was top tier. I loved Ohio Crosby because he could just be Crosby and not everything to everyone. They are my favorite out of all of Latisha’s books. I loved each of the characters and the redemption arc for a certain AWFUL character was absolutely mind blowing.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy reading I highly recommend you give it a try. You won't regret it!
I absolutely recommend this sweet, small town romance to. . .well, everyone. Ruth and Crosby's flirting is top notch! I felt giggly just reading their scenes (esp in Ohio, y'all are in for a treat).
Haley's redemption arc literally made me cry with happiness, like, tears were rolling y'all. I had to message Latisha and tell her off, but I don't think her apology was all that sincere 🤨 authors, you know?
This book is full of life, I literally felt like I was talking to a friend who is filling me in on their life. I loved it all from old Mr. Moon to Nora!
I can't wait for Haley's book to see her whole transformation!
I recommend this book for fans of contemporary Christian romance, small town romance, and coming-of-age stories. Latisha Sexton weaves together a story with two timelines covering the same characters, allowing the reader to discover how the incidents of the past have created the present. While I’ve read many Christian fiction books that deal with the theme of forgiveness, I appreciated that this is a story about reconciliation. What does it look like to rebuild destroyed relationships? Is it even possible? The book also has a lot to say about what it means to be a true friend, and would be helpful to older teen girls in navigating many common friendship issues young women face.
"Latisha Sexton paints a vivid setting with endearing characters in a story with strong themes of forgiveness and God's amazing, 'neverending mercy.' This bittersweet story and the beautiful messages contained within each precious page are sure to leave a mark on your heart." -B.M. Baker, author of the Wonders Never Cease series and A Melody of Love series
If you’re looking for a read that is equal parts sweet, real, and gives all the feels, then this, my friend, is the book for you. This was my first novel by Latisha and let me tell you: it did not disappoint. It sucked me in when I first started reading it one morning and it refused to let me go ’til I finished in the evening. It was that amazing!
Ruth, Haley, and Crosby have history. A lot of history. And it’s messy. But seeing who they become and how they grow through the pages was amazing to see and incredible to watch as they came to terms with the past and moved on to a better present day for themselves. I laughed, I cried, I giggled, and pouted when it ended.
Perfect for fans who enjoy heart warming, real, almost-gritty stories with a strong faith message and lovable characters!
I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed this story from beginning to end! Latisha wrote relatable, engaging characters and though their struggles weren't easy to navigate, she highlighted God's goodness and mercy through it all.
It wasn't my typical read, yet I found myself eager to get back to the story. I loved the swoony moments, as well as the brother's best friend dynamic. I think we who've had brothers have ALL been there at some point!
I also enjoyed the Christian elements that took center stage. Noone was perfect in this story....from the kids to their parents to the people in the community....but redemption was a strong theme throughout.
I can't wait to read the next story and find out even more of what happened in a certain character's life to bring her to that point.
A contemporary coming of age story set in a fictional modern day West Virginia small town. Great storytelling and dynamic characters. There's a lot to love about this book. Crosby in Ohio is one of the things that I don't. 😂
Wow. What a beautiful story. I cried and stayed up way to late on a work night to finish it - but it was so worth it! Never ending mercy indeed! Praise be! This is such a beautiful story depicting God’s redemption and mercy and grace.
Author Latisha Sexton's books are definitely an exciting new discovery for me. Recommended by someone in a book club I'm in, I was immediately intrigued by what the person had to say about this novel. Being a women's fiction lover and impressed by the high ratings, I decided to give Neverending Mercy a try. And wowzah! What an amazing, intense read!
Friendship, devastating betrayals, secrets, humor, heartbreak, romance—it's all in there. And so is edginess, as the author doesn't shy away from the uncomfortable stuff. But I believe my favorite aspect of this book is its unpredictability. I had no idea where the author was taking me—therefore the book was absolutely unputdownable.
I don't want to give away any of the plot because of spoilers, but I will say this is a wonderful story of unconditional love, forgiveness, mercy, and redemption...and one I won't soon forget. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of this author's books!
“God has shown me so much grace and mercy throughout my life. How can I withhold that same grace and mercy from you?”
A lovely story from Latisha that will have you reaching for the tissue, wanting to smack some sense into people, and smiling through the tears. I can hardly wait for book 2.
What you'll find inside: Dual timeline Christian characters Best friend betrayal Heartache and grief Childhood/teenage crush Sister's best friend Cancer Adoption HEA Clean romance
What I loved: Tinker Bell Ruth's example of grace and mercy Mr. Moon Nora "If I’d known then what I learned later, would I have turned around, shaking the dust off my feet in the process? I’ll never know for sure."💔
This is a beautiful story of redemption, I loved how the author painted the picture. Just when you think it’s going to make a turn and things will be better you get another plot twist. I loved this book and would highly recommend it. During all the hard Jesus is at the center and you keep getting pointed to Him!
Over 400 pages of absolute book hangover inducing writing. Such a beautifully written coming-of-age novel. We get to bounce around between different decades so that we’re able to fully understand our MC’s stories from start to finish. Their challenges and trials I think will relate to any reader on some level. Whether we’ve been through some of these life challenges ourselves or know others who have, this book is going to make you press pause on life and think about those we surround ourselves with. Humans are complex and friendships can be hard, but we have a merciful God and that truth will always remain. We need to remember how powerful LOVE and FORGIVENESS are, despite it feeling difficult to express at times.
Ruth and Haley, ages 11 and 14, form a friendship almost by default due to their moms being best friends. Ruth is by most standards what you’d consider a “good girl”. Haley on the other hand, likes to push boundaries and get herself into trouble. Ruth wants so badly to be accepted into Haley’s world. Their “friendship” is touch and go for years with Haley constantly pulling Ruth into uncomfortable situations. Ruth’s crush on Haley’s older (half) brother, Crosby, also complicates things. Crosby also tends to make poor choices but overall seems to have a special respect for Ruth. So many outrageous situations occur during their childhood, which inevitably leave Ruth and Haley’s friendship crumbling. When Ruth feels called back to visit her hometown of Lavender Falls after years of distance from her complicated past, her world is shaken in an unimaginable way. Secrets are exposed and having to face both Haley and Crosby again is something she wasn’t quite prepared for. The twists and turns this complex story takes are intense, but healing.
I love how openly Latisha weaves in the topic of salvation throughout this story. A powerful work of Christian fiction that would make for a perfect book club read! This one needs to be made into a movie if you want my opinion.
Trigger Warnings: Cancer, death and grief.

What to say about this bittersweet, beautiful, heartbreaking story? I'm just not sure.
I love the salvation message-the unashamedly Christian message there is in here. The relationships-all of them-were beautiful to see. Addiction is heartbreaking, and it's HARD to forgive everything that goes along with it. Latisha did a great job showing the struggles with everyone involved.
This isn't a funny book, but I very much enjoyed the light-hearted moments. The Peter Pan comments had me chuckling, and I love the nickname Tinker Bell.
I've read Latisha's two previous books, and while this isn't the same genre, I can see her growth as she continues to write. This is just so well done, and I'm honored to have been able to read it ahead of time.
~I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.~
This book is quite a journey. I enjoyed the story. There are moments that were hard to read but definitely captured the flaws of each character and how God used them in a special way. Even if it is not what they expect. I'm definitely looking forward to reading Hailey's story and how she came to a place of surrounded and found love in her heart during the midst of suffering
A sweet story of redemption and forgiveness! Sexton did a fantastic job of slowly weaving together the past and present as the story unfolded. With a great blend of tender and laugh-out-loud moments, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read. With strong faith elements, this book is perfect for lovers of contemporary fiction with authentic characters and believable, realistic struggles.
This book shows how, even tho things happen in our life, that we might run away from. GOD has different plans, his mercy is so much more than we deserve. This story will take your emotions on a roller coaster. This book was gifted to me for honest review. I cannot wait for Latishas next book!
Y’all, I’m having the hardest time writing my review for this book. It’s one that leaves you with all the most amazing feelings but also without the ability to explain them. Speechless. It just leaves you speechless. I finished it and just sat staring at the last page for over 30 minutes just pondering all I had taken in and experienced. It’s a story of great faith, kindness, grief, pain, loss, brokenness, love, grace and forgiveness. You will absolutely walk away from it changed by its words and, perhaps, like me, inspired to embrace your faith more fully and share it more willingly with others. Yes, it’s a love story, but it’s actually multiple love stories all tied together. Each of them is beautiful in its own way and I loved all of them 1000000%. Please, take my advice and go get your copy of this fantastic story ASAP. You WILL NOT want to miss reading it.
I received a complimentary ARC of this story from the author via BookFunnel. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Wow, this was beautiful and heart-wrenching. The author did an incredible job of pacing the story so that nothing felt rushed or skimmed over. I read the entire book in one day because I was just so drawn in. I've already read The Hart of Christmas and will definitely be reading more by Ms. Sexton!
Honored to be a part of this ARC and share my review, which is 100% my own opinion. This was a beautiful, but also hard story to read. Hard because it had a lot of real life hard situations and circumstances that would challenge any person reading. I struggled with writing my review because I didn’t want to give any details of the story away but also wanted to convey how awesome the story is. The story intertwines through the life of Ruth as a young girl up to the present day. My favorite part of the story is when Ruth is young and having a conversation with her mom about being a good friend and what that looks like. I can relate to Ruth and how she tried to make her friend happy, and fit in but that isn't being a good friend. How Ruth handled relationships, bad news, life not going as she planned, and betrayal showed such strong character even though she struggled to do the right thing sometimes. The relationship between her best friend's brother is rough at times and shows how hard it can be to break down walls that have been put up around the heart. I’ve had some relationships growing up like Ruth had with Hayley and I could relate a little to both sides of their friendship. There are just so many good things in this book you've got to read to find out for yourself. God doesn’t just give us everything we want but gives us what we need when we need it. This story will point you to the fact that God’s Mercy truly is Neverending. The desert journey our lives travel through isn’t always happy and pretty and Latisha wove this story so beautifully and points us to the ultimate one who works all things out for good. I was laughing, crying and on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I can't wait to see what else @sincerely.latisha has planned next!
Friendship. Love. Betrayal. Redemption. These are just a few words to describe this compelling story from Mrs. Sexton. Ruth and Haley’s friendship has come with many challenges. I wanted to be Ruth’s biggest cheerleader, but saw the pain in Haley’s heart. One minute I was laughing and the next minute I was crying. You are immediately pulled in to the story because you can see yourself within these characters. We all have been hurt by a friend or someone close to us. Restoration is a beautiful thing. This page turner keeps you coming back for more. I could not wait to see how this story played out. This is one book that I would highly recommend. I was given an ARC of this book and these are my own opinions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Hearing not only Ruth’s perspective but also Crosby’s brought so much more depth to their story. From childhood to adulthood, you are carried along on a roller coaster ride of emotion as you learn Ruth’s, Crosby’s, and Haley’s stories of love and heartache. Latisha weaves faith, forgiveness, and hope through every page. I can’t wait to return to Lavender Falls to hear the rest of the story!
I absolutely loved this story. I was excited to be on the launch team for this book because I loved the author’s In the Midst series. Even though I knew this was a different genre, I wanted to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did. I loved that there was a dual timeline, but unlike other dual timeline books I’ve read, the characters in both timelines are the same. We get to see Ruth. Crosby, Haley and their families in the present day, but we also get to see them in their younger years as they grow up together. The story begins with Ruth and Haley meeting, but then, in the present day timeline, we discover that “something” happened sometime in the past that destroyed their friendship. The story is told from both Ruth and Crosby’s points of view in both timelines. I love the way details of the past are slowly revealed to help us understand what is going on in the present. There are times I get so mad at Haley, and wonder why in the world Ruth continues to remain her friend. But the biblical truths come through so well in this story. The forgiveness, the redemption, the faith in God, the growth in Christ. My emotions were all over the place while reading this book. And yes, I was warned to have tissues handy, and I will warn you the same. Though there are some very devastating scenes, there are also heartwarming scenes, and hilarious scenes. The different relationships in the book are well shown and I love the way they evolved. Definitely a book I highly recommend. I received this book for free from the author as a part of the launch team and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own, honest thoughts.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I had three nights of staying up way too late reading this book!! This story revolves around Ruth, Haley and Crosby. Ruth and Haley are friends, if you want to call it that. Haley isn’t a very good friend to Ruth. She actually hurts her really bad. Ruth also has a crush on Crosby, Haley’s brother. He also hurts her pretty badly. She ends up avoiding the town she grew up in, so she didn’t have to see either one of them. Then as an adult, she finally comes home and her life is changed forever. I’m not going to say what happens, but you have to read this book!!!!
Neverending Mercy is much more than a tender romance. The heartbeat of this book is forgiveness, reconciliation, and God’s merciful hand in redeeming the aftermath of others’ sinful choices. It’s one thing to forgive vastly deep hurts but another thing entirely to move towards reconciliation and restoration of that friendship. I don’t know that I could have done what Ruth did in this story. Highly recommend.
I received an ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh how I loved this one! Childhood friends to more + age gap. This is a major slow burn but Latisha gives you enough every chapter to hold on and keep going. This also has Best friends going through challenging times together. I couldn’t put this one down. It was SO well done. It was the sweetest romance and also such a picture of God’s Neverending mercy for us. At the end of this book I felt like I knew these characters and their family on a personal level. This is a heavy read but truly wonderful.

I didn’t know when or even if I’d ever see her again, and I wanted to drink in every one of her features . . . to be able to bring it to mind when I needed a reminder of the good things in life. Because that was what Ruth Peterson was. She was everything good. Too good for someone like me.
She had walls built around her heart. Thick ones. But even if it took the rest of my life, I would find a way to break through and tear those walls down.
“God has shown me so much grace and mercy throughout my life. How can I withhold that same grace and mercy from you?”

A cute small town romance with sweet characters. Good mix of Christian faith and romance. Loved the trusting God part of things! The plot had nothing out of the ordinary though.
Easy five stars 🌟 just for the bold and beautiful telling of the Gospel message all throughout the story…it wasn’t complicated - straightforward with an impactful punch 💛 Well done, author, well done - who wishes their town had lavender fields and secret waterfalls 🙋🏼♀️
