I’m stuck in a small town with my childhood crush. He’s a handsome cowboy and I’m a no-nonsense accountant. What could go wrong?
Ryan’s a single dad and more than 10 years older than me. And to top it off, he’s my brother's best friend.
I try to focus on the business of saving the ranch and ignore that Mr. Grumpy pants makes me blush. As my client, he’s off limits, but my heart says otherwise.
Then one night he calls me his girlfriend and seals it with a kiss. I fall hard and have little regret.
I’m about to throw away my well-planned life for a man on the verge of losing everything.
This was a good read. Willow is sent to help Ryan and his ranch. Unfortunately, things were not going well at first. Especially, when it came to his children. Thankfully, in the end everything works out and they get their happy ending.
Willow Sandberg is annoyed to find her boss, Mr Michaels, has sent her to some small town to save a man’s ranch, as part of the company’s pro bono program. Her accountancy skills are going to be sorely needed and all she can think about is spending a summer in the small town rather than Paris. Only the big bonus she has been promised is any compensation. When she finds out that her older brother Evan’s best friend, Ryan Baker, is the ranch owner she has come to help, their first meeting doesn’t exactly go well. A young male accountant was supposed to have been sent, but he wasn’t up to the job, so Willow was sent instead. Turning up at Ryan’s door sees her greeted with a grumpy cowboy holding a gun on her, and refusing to believe she is Evan’s little sister, especially since she is dressed pretty much like a granny! It’s the style of clothes she likes, but when his twin daughters, Katie and Emily, even make fun of her clothing, she starts to rethink her dress code. They lost their mother Stephanie only two years ago, from a twister which decimated the ranch as well, and are mainly looked after by their grandmother Martha, who moved in to help Ryan with the girls who are now ten. Willow is a young looking twenty four and Ryan is much older than her.
Ryan being good looking is rather ruined by his harsh manner and rigid system of rules and beliefs. He has made a lot of bad investments and really should have tried asking for some help before now. He is behind with his payments to the bank and they were about to repossess his ranch, until he signed up to this program. An annoying rich bloke called Trevor, wants to buy his land and knock down his home, to bring a spa retreat to the small town, not something any of the locals really wants. Willow finds herself slowly falling for Ryan after he seems to be relaxing his rigid rules and the twins start to treat her much better, after a rocky start. Things seem to get better between them and she allows herself to start a relationship with him, never mind her professionalism and career minded morals! A first date is almost ruined by Trevor and is obviously going to lead to other issues, as he wants the ranch and the land, no matter how low into the gutter he has to go! How on Earth she, as a city girl and career minded individual, ended up falling for a man who lives in such a small town and went against her own thoughts for her future and career, is hard for her to understand. But there are going to be a few huge speed bumps in their journey of love, as Ryan sticks his feet in and refuses to allow her to beg for money on his family’s behalf, when all other opportunities have failed, believing she can come up with something else that won’t damage his pride! An interesting story, with a definite troublesome pair of twins to win over, as well as a meddlesome, spoilt rich kid wanting to destroy what they are trying to save. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Willow was expecting her accounting job was taking her to Paris, but that was pulled right out from under her. Instead, her boss offered her a big bonus to help out this rancher. Not ideal, but the big payoff would help.
Ryan lost his wife and now is in danger of losing his ranch. His wife's mother comes to live with him and help him with his two girls but he just isn't moving on. And he is reluctantly accepting the bank's offer of help to save the ranch, but he was expecting a male accountant- not this small woman who wears long sleeve old-fashioned dresses.
The girls think Willow is there to be their new mother and they don't want a new mother and let Willow know in several ways. Willow had no intentions other than saving the ranch and collecting her bonus.
Behind all this is a complete jerk who wants the bank to foreclose so he can buy it and tear down the ranch and put up condos.
If all that wasn't enough, it turns out that Ryan used to be Willow's brother's best friend and Ryan is considerably older than Willow.
How does this all work out? Does the ranch get saved? Do the sparks flying lead to anything? You'll have to read it to find out- but carve out some time because you won't want to put it down until you get to the end!
Willow is sent to basically the middle of nowhere by her boss to save a ranch for a man under her company's pro bono program. She's only interested in getting the job done and moving on; not at all excited about spending the summer way away from civilization. She was promised that she would receive any monies earned or returned. When she arrives at the ranch, she realizes that the meeting is with Ryan, an old friend of her brother's. They do not get along when they first meet.
The ranch was destroyed by a tornado which also took the life of Ryan's wife. He's been trying to do everything on his one (with a little help from his mother-in-law looking after his daughters) but nothing he has tried has succeeded. There is a man named Trevor who is trying to get the land so that he can build a spa on the land, so Ryan is willing to listen to what Willow has to say. The more time they spend together, the more their relationship blossoms.
Will they be able to save the ranch? And what about their relationship? Once things are over with the ranch, will Willow want to stay with Ryan or take her bonus and run?
The scene where Ryan sang and played guitar for Willow was one of my favorites and so sweet! Another thing that I loved about it is that it's a sweet romance. I love reading steamier romances too but some of my favorite books are sweet romances.
This was one of my favorite lines from My Cowboy Crush; "Facing Ryan so soon after their disagreement felt like a bad idea . Crush or no, she was currently mad at him." The second part is so relatable as I've been in that exact situation a time or two myself.
After reading My Cowboy Crush, I bought Olivia's Grumpy Cowboy box set so I can read the rest of her books. 🙂

I enjoyed this book. Willow shows great restraint and patience when she stays after being confronted by Ryan. He might have needed my help and been my brother’s best friend, but I would have been out of there and it would have taken a lot of groveling to get me back. Ryan’s temper and failure to realize the real danger of losing his ranch would have further driven a wedge. His only saving grace is his love for his daughters and mother-in-law. Oh you will learn to greatly dislike, okay hate, Trevor. Olivia Sage gives us romance, humor, conflicts and a few twists.
This story had a little bit of everything to keep me interested and invested in the characters lives. Could a widowed cowboy/rancher and a city girl, who happens to be a decade younger and also the sister of his best friend have anything in common? Oh, yes, he has two twin girls also to put in the mix and a ranch deep in debt. Emotions and actions are up and down for all the characters, but I like the way the author deals with the emotions. They seem real, not just words on a page. You will enjoy this book.
This book was a short just under 2 hours for me to read from start to finish with a few interruptions. I was drawn in with the first scene and continued to follow through until the end. It was very realistic to see the fears and reactions in the Ryan's children and the couple in the story. Watching everything fall apart and be brought back into a story for the final bit at the end was a bit heart wrenching. A book that if my teen wanted to read I'd have no problem with her reading.
Willow, as an accountant, tries to save the ranch. But she cannot save the man from himself. They say Pride comes before a fall. All unravels. Lots of emotion. The twins play a key role. It’s fun watching their characters develop & how different they are from each other. The ending is well written. Sorry but this story is horrible. They all are hateful people except the MIL. The writing style is atrocious to read. It’s awkward and a bit a immature. Sorry, I just don’t like this book.
My Cowboy Crush is another good book from Olivia, that's beautifully written with endearing characters and a great story that kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end.

This is a cute story, the characters are charming, the twins are a little devilish which makes for some funny moments. It’s a sweet romance, a quick read. This book is for anyone. I really enjoyed the book. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a lot for one person to overcome. I couldn't imagine what all Ryan had to go thru. I would love to see what the future holds in store for them all.
