Before the wedding, Adachi and Kurosawa go round telling their colleagues about their relationship and Fujisaki, one of the female employees who has been shipping them all along, is invited to the wedding because she designed the invitations and because she is a close colleague. BL comics helped her pull out of trauma from an earlier workplace and now she sees the real thing right in front of her.

Adachi and Kurosawa’s relationship has truly come far from colleagues, to a phase of a one sided crush to a multi-layered relationship. They have conquered their insecurities and found happiness with each other.

I love that all their friends and family came through for them to help them make their wedding so special 😭

I can't wait to see them living their happily ever after for as many chapters and volumes as Toyota Yuu can give us.

Also of course Tsuge and Minato because they are still making their way 💖

I think this is the first volume that rated less than five stars from me, but here we are. I adore these characters and was really looking forward to their wedding, but although we got some chapters of wedding preparation which were interesting, the actual event was really rushed.
Maybe if the unnecessarily intrusive wedding eve chapter had been skipped we could have spent more time on their special day.
At any rate, I’m looking forward to seeing their ol’ married life together—but I’d rather respect their privacy and leave the more graphic spice offscreen!

Toyota Sensei has done something really lovely with this series. It has all the best BL tropes that fujoshi are here for (we are all Fujisaki-san and we know it), with the tall dashing manly Seme-type character and the awkward cute innocent Uke-type character. And there's magic and mind-reading and that is all, just MWAH, so fun. But then the author allows reality to bloom in this setting: the perfect-seeming Tall Guy is an insecure effeminate softy. The virginal black haired short guy is practical and confident.

The realities of coming out with your queer relationship to family and friends and work-- it's handled gently here, with minimum resistance or disgust from the people around them, but it's still handled. That's pretty uncommon in the genre, where much Japanese BL kind of ignores the realities of the LGBT community in Japan. It's rare to even have characters identify as gay or bi. (Notable exceptions: "What did You Eat Yesterday" and "Nekoyashiki kun desires to be recognized" and "His") and far more common for bland colorblind-type messages (why does it matter who i fall in love with, love is love).

In this volume, we see Kurosawa and Adachi struggling to find housing that will allow same-sex couples or a venue for a wedding ceremony that is LGBT inclusive. Once they reach out to friends and connect with other queer people with good advice, they are able to make progress.

And then they have a WEDDING!!!!
OH my poor swooning heart. What a treat.

Anyway, Cherry Magic is in every way flawless and perfect and the only problem with it is that each volume is not 800 pages long. I'd read about them doing literally nothing and it would be like a deep tissue massage for my soul.

In the immortal words of Fujisaki-san: Kuro-Ada Kuro-Ada KISS KISS KISS!!!

Adachi and Kurosawa begin wedding planning and apartment shopping in earnest, but discover that these are not simple tasks for a gay couple. Luckily, they're surrounded by people who care and support them.

All this time... As our options dwindled like doors slamming shut for us... I've been giving up, rationalizing that this was just how things were. But even as I did, I wanted to hear someone say that we didn't have to. That we weren't wrong.

REVIEW
I can't believe we're already at the wedding volume! Kurosawa and Adachi have come so far and are now trying to build a life together. However, finding a new apartment is tricky, as most landlords are not queer friendly and they keep getting denied. Cherry Magic! has been wholesome so far, but I appreciate that it touched upon the discrimination that same-sex couples face in this volume. It was so sweet when Kurosawa's sister got angry on their behalf and said that people shouldn't be judged for who they love. One of Kurosawa's friends also helps them out with advice and I love how supportive everyone is being. Kurosawa and Adachi still want to show their loved ones that they've dedicated their lives to each other, no matter how outsiders might judge them. The wedding is their promise to care for each other and it was so sweet! Definitely makes me curious how their married life will look like!

This is my review for the series as a whole so far.

It started off as kind of cute - barring the ridiculous notion that a social construct such as a person’s ‘virginity’ can somehow bestow magic mind-reading powers - and the art is gorgeous. As time has gone on though, I’ve started to realise that the story is actually repetitive and pretty flimsy.

Several chapters go over the exact same story points as previous chapters, which is asinine no matter how pretty the artwork is. On top of which, there’s next to no conflict in the story - any issues that do come up are negligible, and solved so quick as to render the whole exercise pointless. It’s clear that the author has no real goal in mind for this story. There is no real journey to undertake, no obstacles to overcome… It’s just a story about two guys and their obscenely healthy relationship.

Slice of life isn’t my thing. I like my stories to have stakes, and this series is the farthest thing from that. I might still pick up future releases, because I do kind of want to see how Tsuge’s story pans out, but as far as the main two are concerned, I feel like their story could easily have ended here.

Adachi and Kurosawa are having trouble finding a new apartment, and it seems due to their relationship. Minato tells them he has a friend who lives with her girlfriend and makes some calls on their behalf. He also explains the rejections could be because they aren’t being forthright, as many places would rather rent to couples than roommates. Minato’s information seems to set them more at ease. There’s a cute moment where Tsuge hears Minato’s thoughts, and they are a tiny bit on the jealous side. Tsuge responds with falling over, like he can’t believe it, and the caption says Tsuge’s going to be a wizard for a while. Hahaha.

It ends with Adachi and Kurosawa getting married. (but not before they have a really intense intimate moment the night before) It’s great to see their friends and family support them. They seem insanely happy and no matter how you feel about marriage, you can’t help be happy for them.
