I still enjoyed this, but I kinda wish the story would just get a move on. I feel like things are getting fluffed out with word count since we keep introducing new characters and getting their point of view, but we're mostly in a holding pattern plot-wise.

In the grand scheme of things, this volume and many of the previous ones are still merely setting the stage for the "real" demon invasion.

Still enjoying this series. Even though this is book 11 it doesn't really get old. The story progresses. The MC is way OP and always knows the right thing to do. There isn't really any fear that he will die or his plan won't work. One would think that would be boring after a while but it still hasn't gotten old. I also still like reading about the other characters response to what the MC can do. There are always those "holy shit" moments when Lark does something impossible.

A surprising change of POV to start this episode. Before this book, we had learned little about the beast kingdom, so I was happy to dive in.

While there was no real risk of death for the Arch Magus, the battle fought at the Iron Mountains was close to the edge of his abilities. That's about as much as we get with such an overpowered protagonist.

It's still entertaining though.

As always it was over way too fast, but I thoroughly enjoyed this latest outing of the Arch Magus series. It was a lot more focused on a single storyline than some of the previous entries have been and it provided plenty of opportunities for Lark Marcus to show off which is one of the big guilty pleasures of this series.

As always, there are flaws to be found with these books. The writing is a bit on the nose at times, the dialogue a bit too hammy, the word 'brat' is overused by an insane degree, and of course, the book feels a bit too short for my tastes. However, by this point in the series, I know what I'm letting myself in for and all of these things (save maybe the length) are more funny quirks of this series rather than actual flaws by this point.

Overall, if you enjoy this series to this point then you'll no doubt enjoy this one as well. As ever I'm eager to see what happens next.

Good, wish it was longer or had more side stories with views on his kingdom or maybe some of the others.

"United Grakas Alliance," the 11th book in Michael Sisa’s "Legend of the Arch Magus" series, published in 2024 and narrated by Tom Taylorson, is a gripping continuation of the isekai fantasy saga centered on Lark Marcus, the reincarnated Arch Magus. This audiobook offers a blend of strategic brilliance, magical innovation, and escalating stakes. "United Grakas Alliance" excels in its ambitious scope and Taylorson’s stellar narration.

In "United Grakas Alliance," Lark, the exiled duke’s son imbued with ancient magical knowledge, navigates a complex web of alliances and rivalries as his domain’s influence grows. Sisa shines in depicting Lark’s hyper-competence, with highlights including his masterful use of magic to revolutionize infrastructure and warfare. The titular alliance introduces a broader geopolitical stage, with diplomatic maneuvering and strategic gambits that add depth to the medieval world. Scenes of Lark implementing innovative policies - such as magical logistics or economic reforms - are particularly engaging, showcasing his ability to outwit adversaries and uplift his subjects. The narrative’s focus on large-scale conflicts and political intrigue marks a shift toward a more expansive story, that should appeal to any fans of progression fantasy.

Tom Taylorson’s narration is a standout and consistently “flawless.” His dynamic delivery - calm for Lark’s calculated moments, intense for battle scenes - elevates the audiobook, making even weaker passages engaging. Taylorson’s vocal versatility ensures characters are distinct, enhancing the listening experience.

In conclusion, "United Grakas Alliance" is a compelling listen for fans of Lark’s unstoppable rise, offering inventive magic and high-stakes diplomacy. Taylorson’s narration ensures an enjoyable experience, but deeper character work would elevate its impact. Ideal for those seeking escapist fantasy, it delivers competence and ambition with flair.

I enjoy the hell out of this series but it has to learn how to story tell better. Focus in and widen it's fronts better. Giving it's readers the things they want to see a little better. while still expanding the world like the other seems to enjoy doing.

Right now it's not paying enough on the "main front" to call this a book or even a piece of an arc. IT's like it's piling and piling without paying off enough in an enjoyable way. Which says more of a outline program for epic fantasy. which requires better outlining to pull off. I think even if the author color coded and figured out the "arc" for his main and the main side characters it would be more enjoyable because those characters have been invested in nicely. Just throwing randoms in or semi randoms then plopping mane characters isn't fun because the stakes are set correct for us to care.

Another enjoyable entry

I’ve devoured this whole series over the last few days and finally come to the end (for now). I found this book to be a good entry though I wasn’t the biggest fan of moving to new characters. By the end of the book I liked the new characters but though it seems some liked it I wasn’t a huge fan of the beginning. We immediately dive into a different characters perspective which developed the alliance but made me concerned the whole book was gonna be this tournament. Thankfully it’s not though and as I said I ended up liking the new characters.

The interactions between blackie and Angus were fun, the beast king was a good addition etc. This wasn’t one of the boring entries. Having read this series back to back I’ve found it’s short length makes it read like one long book. Each book doesn’t follow a traditional structure in some cases so whereas in a long page count you might have a middle that’s less action packed and more perfunctory to establish background, delve into the politics and base building etc. Here whole books are like that but not this one thankfully.

Will say on the negative I’m having a continual struggle with this series: the MC is ruthlessly practical but then suggested to be kindhearted and loving despite prior actions. For example I enjoyed blackie in this book but he decides he need to be disciplined for prior stuff and I was like yeah you overlooked him terrorising and slaughtering thousands of people. He worries about destroying the mountain in case he kills a few people living in it but has no issue with working with people and actively aiding people who commit heinous acts. Or killing just to prove a point (the army guy etc). Being like he has an end goal and unfortunately getting there is going to require some unsavoury actions, war is often brutal etc is one thing but you can’t do that and also be like actually I’m a benevolent saint.

Overall liked the book and find the series enjoyable but still a bit conflicted about it at times.

Still fun, simple, but fun and entertaining!

This edition of the series had more fast pacing with the beginning of the book introducing yet more new characters. The books have suffered from lack of editing in the repeating of small information dumps which distract from the reader because most of them are obvious if they've been following the story. Unfortunately breaks the story up, and makes you think you're reading choppy chapters with paragraph summaries. Sometimes the author repeats characters plotlines and over explains the situation. Would this many installations of the series, and I don't know at what speed the story was written, but it feels like the author's work was rushed to get published. All that said, it doesn't distract from the entertaining story all that much. I can honestly say I've been enjoying the world building in the character development of several characters which is hard to do with so many main characters jumping in and out of the chapters.
I still find this series a very fun, simple, engaging, and entertaining read!!!!

At last, a magnificent fantasy story

I am truly a voracious reader. Check my Goodreads account for all the books I have read - several thousand in the last few years. The Legend of the Arch Magus is one of the best. It is:
- well edited
- solid world building
- characters that are well designed behave cohesively throughout the various volumes
- main character that grows and evolves over time
- lots of non-gratuitous action
- zero romance
- characters grow as they meet challenges of strength and moral character.
And more. Michael Sisa, I’m following you and look forward to reading every page that you write.
Bravo!

I didn't believe a decline in quality was a possibility after reading/listening to parts 1-10 but that is the case for #11.

Not only is the technical writing atrocious (grammar etc) but the interactions between characters and conversations were just non-stop cringe.

If anything I would recommend ignoring the text version of: United Grakas Alliance (Legend of the Arch Magus #11) and choosing a possible future audiobook since those seem to get some minor editing in the process of conversion from the travesty which is the text e-books.

Audio: 5 Stars, have I said this narrator is great? They ARE!!!!

Story: Have I said I love Blackie?!?!?! I want my own please! Gold throne with icebox LMAO! Like the previous book, I'm a bit torn about this one. Love that it had some ridiculous comedy, so ridiculous that it made me laugh. I think things were getting too serious, so this book was perfect. The editing was a bit off. I still do not enjoy the whole demon thing, but still it is an enjoyable read. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

A slower pace

Book 10 and 11 have a bit of a slower pace. Some people did complain that the pace is too fast. Don't know how some can complain that a books pace is too fast. Well this might satisfy some of those complaints. Still not as good as books 1-9, but for a book written after 2020 it's brilliant.

New characters introduced

On opening this book I genuinely thought I had some how down loaded the wrong book. The first few chapters introduce characters not mentioned before. Needless to say the story line continues with plenty of action that keeps you turning the pages. Looking forward tothe next saga.

Very Excellent Series

Lark has come to the Kingdom of the Beast Men to warn them about the demons coming through a portal, and also to help stop it. Challenges, demonstration of power, and grudging alliance ensue. I like the action, humor, and powerful magic. I look forward to the next book.

Great but it’s too little too late

The accumulated hype for this series will die down way before we see any conclusion to this story. If the author wanted to capitalise on this success he should acquire aid or any help he needs to write faster. It won’t be as successful as it could be if this pace continuous.

Just finished binging this series (up to what's currently released). The production value of the latest two is especially good compared with that of the early books. The editing has really paid off! Also, the book covers are a lot more visually interesting now.

This installment in the series is a mild departure from the usual, with less Kingdom politics - but it's a nice change.

It's so short huhuhuhu, I want more 😁 Pacing wise, I still like it, because with such an outstanding event looming over it would be such a letdown if things just happened then bam, it was already finished. Stil, although, I like the build up, I need to get the next part soonish. Like. Now. Hahahaha

Great book, a short read

I am immediately getting the next book. I can't wait to also listen to the Audio book when it comes out. I really enjoy this series. So much so each time a new book comes out I re- read the series from book 1 to ensure I'm not missing nor forgetting any necessary information.

A few grips, but also excellent.

Glad to see the huge series is on kindle unlimited now! I know as a reader, it’s appropriated and I hope it also boots the authors income as well!

I wasn’t a big fan of the opening. I prefer stories that focus mostly on the main character, but all the rest was great! Thanks for another great read!

Marking those books is so hard, I’m constantly rolling my eyes at the syntax and overall writing « style » (AI?) but I am still thoroughly enjoying the story. It feels like reading a video game plot. Happily, I’ve stumbled upon the audio books and the narrator definitely sells these for me. The voice changes are amazing. Changed my stars from 2 to 4 just because of that narrator.

great fun read

This was very fun to read! It has some truly imaginative details and plot twists. It is so nice to have something quick to read that is uplifting and diverting. In today’s complex world. I highly recommend it. Craig.

underwhelming

Thought this was by far the poorest book in the series , as a kindle unlimited reader this is one of the few series I pay for , given the short length of the books I can't see me continuing.

Continuing

Excellent continuation. Stories do not repeat themselves too much always something added to make story feel new and fresh. Retribution visited on wrong doers. Awaiting wake up call of Larks brother and of Mona.

Love these stories

I love these stories. This one wasn't as exciting as the other ones were as it didn't have as much to do with Lark. It is a great story and gained Lark a lot of allies for future fighting with the demons. I am looking forward to the next book.
