Saoirse Dannan is ripped from her mundane life when a killer comes for her family. All of the Dannans are brutally murdered, while she and three of her cousins are spared by a mysterious force.
Drawn to the manor they left behind as children, Saoirse and her cousins learn that a sinister cult lies at the center of a tangled web of Celtic myth, quantum physics, and ancient magic. New worlds and new relationships yield unexpected passion as they search for a way to defeat the cult.
When Saoirse suddenly becomes the only one capable of wielding the power that can save them, the fate of worlds is in her hands. She must not only summon the will to live, but face her demons before all is lost forever.
This book surprised me. I haven’t been a big sci-fi fantasy reader, but I went into it open minded. It was so good. The first half is very dark. The FMC goes through some very hard trauma that brings her to a very low point in her life. It was so beautiful though to watch her story unfold. To see the FMC fight for herself even when she didn’t want too. This book was set in the real world, but was full of natural magic. Connecting with nature and the world around you to create something new. It has Celtic Lore throughout. It was so exciting to learn about it and how it all worked. There was thrill and stress as these characters are being hunted by an evil cult. There’s also a lovely, evil bitch and she was the kind of villain that reminds you of Amarantha as she loves to take. Not only did we get the FMC’s POV, but we also got other characters as well. As she reconnects with her cousins and goes on this journey with them. You get some of their POVs and journeys as well. They are all trying to overcome. Grow. And I enjoyed moving through all of them. This book has found family, one bed, and mental health growth. The twists at the end were amazing. I always love a good twist even I don’t see coming. I highly recommend that you check this book out. Quote Time: . Saoirse laughed. “Trust me? Like, the cells and atoms and all that have feelings? They make decisions?”
“~ you’re naked!” He looked down at himself and back up at her, unconcerned. “Cats don’t wear clothes”
Saoirse let out a long breath and allowed herself to be distracted from her unease as she gazed at the most marvelous male backside she has ever seen.
“Are you cold?” He reached his arm across her and rubbed her bare arm. Not anymore, she thought
In that moment, he realized it was all bullshit. The ways he’d embellished himself were the ways he’d hidden himself.
i devoured this book! from start to finish, true lore had my on the edge of my seat. truly a great book with intricate world-building, complex characters, and it was really a magical read! oh and the romance... ❤️🔥❤️🔥
“True Lore” is an emotion roller coaster right out of the gate, from the first chapter to the end! The best way to describe reading this attention inducing book is “a story full of little stories”. That implies, each character has its history, development, and individualizations worth something amazing.
This authors style is the modern day Agatha Christie. Her writing genuinely made my heart race. She makes you connect with the characters by showing their fragility and inner complexities of us humans and our emotional sides that are often caved away. In contrast, she touches on various complex issues such as self-acceptance, psychology, chemistry, botany, fantasy (in a modern world and in a magical world), action, mythology, romance, smut, and I can go on...
The world and magic that Siobhan created is something phenomenal. It is one of those books that you can finish in a day, because it grabs you and does not let you go easily.
An exquisite reading, most certainly without a doubt, I recommend it to all of you!!
This book truly has it all. Plot, immaculate spice, likable (and unlikable) characters, unique world-building, and the TWIST. Lore is fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the character growth and I only wish there was more, I miss Saoirse!
This story follows Saoirse as her mundane life is thrown upside down by the sudden murder of her family. She’s there, witnesses it all, but is spared, and she doesn’t know why. She’s unfulfilled, unsuccessful, NOTHING! So why didn’t they take her too? She wants answers and goes to her family manor with her three cousins— her only living family members— to seek them. However, they find that this mystery spreads beyond their loss and world. There’re myths, magic, science, darkness and a cult that lies at the center of it all— and they are coming for them. She’s the only one with the power to save them. The question is, will she let herself believe she can reach success or let her self doubt lead to her failure…
It has Celtic mythology and lore, multiple POV’s, reunited family, dark themes, magical objects, cults, trauma, realms, loss, sacrifice, science, magic and love. This is a magical murder mystery, turned mythological fight for survival, turned ultimate quest for revenge; its dark, intense, heartbreaking, mysterious, and jaw dropping.
Saoirse’s journey is emotional and moving. She’s broken, lonely, defeated and filled with self doubt; but she fights and grows, finds forgiveness and strength, and truly sees herself. I loved seeing Eoghan, Linnaeus, Hawking and Saoirse interact and bond, but it’s their evolution as individual characters that really resonated with me. I connected with their struggles and road to self discovery and acceptance. The romance feels unexpected but is super enjoyable. It’s honest and strips down the games people play in love, letting the characters be vulnerable, passionate and their best selves. I wish we had more time for this development, but still loved it!
This story is a real emotional rollercoaster but the ending brings everything full circle and makes all that darkness and emotional torment worth it.
“There’s only one person you need to believe in you. You.”
I received a PR box for this book directly from the author.
I tend to love all things dark fantasy & cult related, and I was also very interested in the celtic mythology underpinnings, so this one seemed right up my alley. And, it was. I enjoyed reading this-- what can I say, I like what I like. It's a very promising start for this indie author and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
That being said, this book had so much going on. Too much. For me, it affected the pacing. We went from thing to thing (and there were SO MANY THINGS) without the book ever really taking the time to build the tension of what was happening, or leave me wondering what would happen next. It was more like okay, that just happened and now we're doing this. Because there was too much going on, EVERYTHING moved too fast. I would've loved to have seen some of plot fleshed out more over multiple books, so that we as readers could feel a little more immersed in the story-- shown instead of told, I suppose. This was especially true for me in terms of the magic systems/celtic mythology, and the two sort of warring, generational factions-- those who practice object-based magics versus those who practice magic symbiotic with nature. The magical systems just felt a little underdeveloped and inconsistent, and there were quite a few plot holes with its use.
In any event, with everything that was going on in this book, I was certainly entertained, if not invested. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this very creative author!

You guys. I have no words. This was such a refreshing take on fantasy with essences of sci-fi, mythology/lore, history, and other worlds. The Main Characters were so refreshing to read about and I saw myself in so many of them through different facets of my own ego. I had no idea what I was getting when I picked up this book but the plot, character development, and twists kept evolving, growing, and just getting bigger and bigger until a wonderful crescendo that had me both cursing, shrilling (do people still say this word?), and binge reading with anxious fervor. I both love and hate the author for this. I loved the character development of Saoirse (I think it’s pronounced Sur-sha). It was tragic, frustrating, beautiful, and empowering. I feel like sometimes we forget that not everyone can get out of their own heads and I loved an FMC I could really connect with. Oh and guess what - There are so many other characters you get to know and either love or hate with a visceral fire from the lands of Mordor. I loved the centeredness around Celtic Folklore and freaking LOVED how every chapter started with a history of “Lore” the author created. It was one of my favorite parts of the book that tied into the whole story. I truly truly loved this book and just cannot recommend it enough.
True Lore brought me into a world that was simultaneously exciting and terrifying. When Saoirse (sur-sha) and her cousins arrive at their grandparents estate, their entire family has been murdered...except for each other, of course. Following clues left by their grandfather, the four of them must discover the secrets of the estate, together.
What started as a light hearted enough scavenger hunt turns into a fight for their lives as unknown enemies breech the estate. Magic is discovered and broken within moments, enemies revealed and treasures uncovered as Saoirse realizes that she already has one of the items and ends up alone, not knowing who lived of died inside.
With the help of Kian, Saoirse is able to discover more about the artifacts their grandparents hid and protected, and also more about her connection to magic itself. With sacrifice...the right sacrifice...anything is possible.
I absolutely loved seeing Saoirse and Kian become close and find solace despite the world basically falling apart. It doesn't hurt that he's really attractive and already adores her either. They make a great team, and his knowledge of the estate and her grandparents is invaluable to their survival.
True Lore was not what I expected in the BEST way! I wasn’t too sure how quantum physics, magic, and Celtic lore would play out together.. •(this is why I am a reader, not a writer)😅
Siobhan did an outstanding job, because this book was pure magic!
The way it played out was absolutely enthralling!
For a book less than 400 pages and fast paced, the plot and character development is mesmerizing!
This story is an urban sci-fi fantasy and I enjoyed it! every chapter has info about the Celtic mythology which was so cool. I would advise readers to check the tw beforehand. The characters go through all these trials in a magical realm seeking answers due to a tragedy. The pace was amazing it keeps you on your toes and the plot twists!! oh my gosh, its a perfect mixture of light but then dark and with a splash of spice. I highly recommend this book!
True Lore was a thrilling, fast paced dark adult fantasy novel with mystery, suspense, self discovery and romance. Celtic lore, good vs evil, inter-dimensional travel, quantum physics…this book explores many interesting themes! There were so many twists in this story that I didn’t see coming🤯 Specifically pages 296 and 366 - you’ll know what I mean when you read it! There are some trigger warnings for this story that some might want to keep in mind . I was a bit nervous at first when I read the trigger warnings but I feel like all of the topics were dealt with in an appropriate manner and nothing was too graphic or intense - and I’m pretty sensitive lol - but regardless, take note of those before reading.
I’d definitely classify this as a dark sci-fy fantasy which makes it stand out from so many other popular fantasy reads of late. It does start out very dark- read the triggers. Moore did a fantastic job diving into the FMC grief and depression. I loved the blend of Celtic lore and science. Her writing style flows effortlessly and keeps you drawn in. The character growth with Siorese & Hawking was well done. I would love to read more from Siobhan Moore!
MA’AM!!!!! My mind was blown awaaayyyyyyy!!!!! Ah! I am so freaking happy I reached out to you. Your book was different for me but it was incredible. I loved how it had me Happy, upset and in shock. I loved how every character evolved through out the story and the TWIISSTTTSSS OMG!!!! I couldn’t put this book down. Recommend this book 100000%
This book was so different than I expected but I loved that I wasn’t really sure how this story would unfold. It had more of a sci-fi and magical realism vibe too it than just fantasy.
👏🏽I really recommend reading it as it felt so original!!
Look up content warnings as there are heavier themes!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved learning about the ancient magic systems alongside the characters. It was traumatic, adventurous, creative, and took me on a ride. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This book has mystery, lore, suspense, plot twist that left me staring at the wall, and so much more. Saoirse, FMC, has just watched her family get unalived. Now Saoirse and her three cousins are the only surviving heirs to their grandparents fortune. They were each left a crypt message drawing them to their grandparents manor. After arriving they soon start to uncover that there is more to the story then they originally thought. Saoirse has so much growth throughout this story and it was nothing short of beautiful. The end of this book had me in tears and I can safely say that this book has changed me forever. I highly recommend getting a copy!
