Thana is the strange sixteen-year-old girl who no one wants anything to do with. Everyone who looks at her sees the quiet gothic girl who hates the world and everyone in it, which is just how it needs to be. The only people who know the truth, that she can kill with just her touch, are her family members. So, she spends her days alone, and keeps her distance from everyone around her because it's the only way to keep them safe.
At least, she does her best to until Chase comes around. Unlike the other kids at school who cast her skeptical, sideways glances in the hallways, or bully her over her appearance, Chase is the first to make a genuine effort to become her friend. And, as dangerous as that is, Thana has a much harder time avoiding him than she wishes she did.
She knows the risks of having a friend who she has to keep such a big secret from, but she's never had a real friend before, and the companionship, and the way he's able to so easily make her feel carefree and happy is something she's never experienced in this way before.

This book was enjoyable. It read a little bit young for what I usually read, but I think the concept was really cool and could be built upon in other books, if that's something the author was interested in doing. I do feel that Thana was a little whiny for my taste as well, but I liked her and Chase together and was happy when they finally found a way to be together.
Though a bit slow, this was a unique and enjoyable read. This book included friendships, family dynamics, love, and tears. With a little more character development and removal of irrelevant things, I think this would be a great story.
This book isn’t quite what I expected. I loved the dark and the romance even tho it was not dark romance… I think that some parts dragged on and would have love a bit more development for both main characters but I loved the ending and the story line in general. It was a high school aged romance which was also cute in itself!
What would you do if everything you touch dies? For one sixteen-year-old girl, this is her reality.

This book was definitely different than anything I normally read. The storyline is a good one, and I love the characters' growth in the story. Especially the storyline with her siblings. It would be a really hard situation to grow up with and deal with daily. The only thing I have a problem with is a situation that happens near the end of the book that is completely glossed over. That whole thing could have made this book better have to deal with it. It feels like it should have been a bigger deal, especially because of who the main character is. It would be interesting if the author made a second book having that come back to cause issues.
The outcast because of her deadly touch. Everyone looks at her as a gothic freak until Chase.
Thana has never had a normal relationship or friend. When she meets Chase she has no idea how to act/react. She tries to stay away. But something keeps bringing her back.
As her relationship with Chase progresses and changes so does the relationship she has with her siblings. The relationship seems to change both of them for the best and help them create better relationships with the people in there lives.
I’m not gonna lie at the beginning of the book I had a hard time getting into the storyline. But about 35% through it started flowing really well and bringing out emotions and angst that I didn’t know I would experience.
Overall I thought it was a great read. A bit coming of age type of story but well written.
I was thankful to receive this ARC for free. And am voluntarily leaving a review.
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to have the touch of death? Where everything no matter what you touched died on the spot. Because that's what poor Thana has to deal with. Everything living dies. And everything none living turns black. Even all her clothes/ room is black, along with her hair and lips. So unfortunately, everyone thinks she is weird and is a goth.
She never had friends and never really cared. Keeping everyone away kept them safe. That is until Chase moves to town. He was the first guy that sparked any kind of interest and it hit her out of nowhere. Literally, their first encounter she fell in a ditch to avoid crashing into him with her bike. And ever since that day they couldn't stay away from each other. Granted he doesn't know about her curse, but that doesn't stop him from coming back around. He likes Thana for Thana and that's pretty special for me.
Thana and Chase are the perfect dynamic duo. They understand each other like no one can and helped each other heal certain aspects of their lives. From friends, to best friends, to lovers. But how can he touch her? Can she find a way to break this curse? Maybe a HEA can be in Thana's future? Thank you Mase Evans for an ARC Copy of Death's Touch! You gave me a story like no other and kept me captivated right until the very end. I liked trying to solve this mystery with Thana while also having my heart break for her.
Death’s Touch by Mase Evans is the first book I’ve read by this author. With how well this book is written, it surely will not be the last. I found myself so immersed in the story and found myself wondering as I read the book, what would I do in this position. How would I survive knowing the power I hold?
I loved reading the story of Thana, a girl who can literally end someone’s life if she touched them. The sacrifices that she makes to make the people around her safe…she’s become an outcast..the weird girl. But she needs to protect her fellow classmates, so to her this is just part of the gig. Just when she accepts that she’s to be lonely enter Chance a boy who tries so hard to get to know her despite everything. This book was so page turning good! I loved the characters, the plot, the world…everything. I definitely recommend that you check this book out!!!
Final review: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The characters: 5 out of 5 touches 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
I was very excited to read this book as one of my ARC... The storyline is different than anything I have read. I really Like the storyline with her other siblings. This high school romance book, and all that goes with that but has a twist, the girl kills with her touch. Her and chase story and how they grew and evolved was awesome and just had me really into them and how things would turn out... Of course I'm so happy the ending turned out like it did... with him holding her hand! I was so stoked!! I would love to know more about Thana. I won't, as always give to much away because well You should read it for yourself!!! The only thing I wish... is that there is another book right after this one to build on the story!!!!
I devoured this spooky young adult romance in one sitting!
Death’s Touch is the story of a girl whose touch means death. Everything she touches turns gray. She dresses all in black, wears gloves, and keeps to herself. Her favourite pastime is going to the abandoned houses near her neighbourhood and spending hours there, alone. But one day, she meets the new boy in school, Chase, who isn’t put off by her hostile manners and loner vibes. But can she even have a friend? And what if she wants something more?
This book is deliciously angsty! Thana has a extraordinary power in an ordinary world and she’s had to hide this power from everyone outside of her family. She’s a sixteen-year-old girl in high school, and with that comes all the heartaches of being a teenager–especially the school bully. I loved watching her internal struggle as she knows that all she has to do to defend herself from her bully is remove her glove and touch his skin, but that would kill him.
The romance is super cute. Thana puts on the act of hating the world, but Chase sees through her flimsy defenses pretty quickly. Reading this book is a little bit like reading a tragic love story, and there’s a few times that I was a little worried there wouldn’t be a satisfying ending!
This is a high school romance book, with all that goes with that but has a twist, the girl kills with her touch. I really enjoyed it it was a good read, well written and I want to read more about Thana, the girl who can’t touch anything. I guess I was waiting for a little more angst to happen, that’s just me though. A few things do happen, that I feel was just glossed over or maybe rushed through, I don’t know. It is a good story line, and if your looking for a happy ending high school romance with a little twist then this is the book for you.
I really love this book and the characters. The storyline is a good one, and I love the characters growth in the story. Especially the storyline with her siblings. It would be a really hard situation to grow up with and deal with daily.
The only issue I have is a situation that happens later in the book is completely glossed over. That whole thing could have made this book better having to deal with it. It feels like it should have been a bigger deal especially because of who the MFC is. It would be interesting if the author made a second book of that coming back to cause issues.
I really liked the story line, though it was a bit slow developing in places and I'm not 100% sure what the climax is supposed to be.
I like Thana's character and the struggles she faces felt believable. Chase is super cute and I love their relationship. The family dynamics between the siblings is really great but the one real time we see Thana's dad I do not like him.
All in all it was a good, albeit slow, story that I wouldn't mind taking another trip into though it's wrapped up nicely and I don't think they'll be additional books.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
3.25/5⭐️
Deaths touch by Mase Evans was an enjoyable read. The concept pf the book was really interesting and the ending was really well done. I do think the main characters would have benefited with a little more development but I did like them together. Also some parts in the story dragged on but the ending closed of the story nicely. Overall this was a good book and I would read another book from this author.
This book is definitely a young adult read, it is younger than I normally read, but that did not take away from the enjoyment of the book. I enjoyed the book and the storyline, the author can build on this story for a series if she chooses to. The overall story of family, friends, and relationships is very relatable. Her curse is not but her relationship struggles and working through them is amazing! I am definitely interested in seeing more of her work.
I read this in one sitting, I didn't want to put it down. Thana was relatable and her relationship with her siblings was endearing. The romance felt very organic, and Chase was a breath of fresh air for me in a genre that often gives passes to unfortunate behaviors for the sake of the romance trope- he didn't once give me the ick and it's greatly appreciated. All in all, I highly recommend this sweet story to any and all readers.
This story was definitely different than anything I normally read and I loved it. The author really did a great job of letting us get to know her characters and the world around them. We follow the life of an FMC who is used to being the outcast. She ends up realizing how much she was really missing out on life by finally letting someone get close no matter the risk.
3.5 ⭐️ I stepped out of my norm with this book, and I'm glad I did. Thara is a strong young woman who has had to live a lonely existence because of her ability or curse. Then she meets Chase, and everything changes. This book has fear, friendship, family, young love, and even had me holding my breath a few times.
The story was not what I’d expected but was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the concept and the flow, and look forward to additional stories by this author. Definitely a good add for a YA collection.
I normally don't read very much young adult books, however I've been trying to find books for my teenage daughters to read. We really enjoyed reading this book together. I highly recommend this book.
This was a really good book! I was skeptical at first but when i started reading it was not what I was expecting! They way its written is so good! There's twists that you don't know will happen but than they do!
It's a cute romance story! I liked the way Thana and the siblings were portrayed as very loving and protective. I also liked the ending, but I feel like it could continue into a series.
Such a great read!!! I loved this story and the characters. I love YA books and this one delivered! I highly recommend and can’t wait to read more from Mase!
Received this as an arc. Had no idea what to expect and was thoroughly surprised and enjoyed it so much. The two main characters are moody sensitive and I love it.
This book was not what I expected at all. I was not a bad book by any means just not anything like i though it would be. I was hoping for a little bit of suspense of some sort but this book essentially just follows the friendship/ relationship the main character has with her family and her new friend Chase. So of this book was hard to get through simply for the fact that it just didn’t have those things I was hoping that it would. For that reason I gave his a three star. I would recommend to anyone who likes a forbidden love type story with a high school settling. Like i said it was not bad it was just not a book for me.
