Definitely 3.5! I really enjoyed Brynn and Brad’s story, the story was built and paced well. Except in some more intimate moments it seemed a bit rushed like.. needs to be mentioned but not too much(?). I am excited for the next one.

This BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!! I want to first thank Gloria so much for sending me a paper copy! This book is absolutely amazing has a good amount of SMUT / Spicy but has that sweet wholesome feel. I also loved that it gave me Twilight Vibes and just everything about this was amazing! I need more of Brad and Brynn! I also loved that it gave us a little bit of mystery throughout the books and the twist I did not really expect so it just had everything you could want in a book! I also loved the family dynamic and it also made me think of my husband because we got together when I was 19 and he was 25 so I could really relate to the age difference between Brad and Brynn. I also loved Lily and Gwen’s personalities and I also loved Sammy! If you need something that has all the elements you could want and keeps you engaged and keeps you on the edge of your seat this is the book for you! Very nicely written and can’t wait for me!!!

I love finding new authors and when I discovered the debut novel from Gloria LaVona, I had to give it a try! What I love about shifter romance is it's a guaranteed HEA and Brynn's Compass is no different. I will admit, when I started the novel and realized Brynn was a senior in high school, I was nervous it would be angsty. It wasn't! She's already 18 and it takes place as she graduates.

Brad is a hero you can get behind, with a well thought out backstory and a close family that fills the heart. There was also a small mystery element that I was so curious about and the solution was nothing I had guessed at!

All that to say, I'm glad I took the chance on this new author and look forward to her future work. This is a lovely start and I look forward to seeing her further refine her craft.

Potential Spoilers!!!

I used to read a lot of shifter and werewolf fantasy books and this was a good 😊 me to jump into.

I loved getting to know Brynn and Brad as they were both still getting to know themselves and each other! I loved the mix of romance and a lingering sense of danger that has only begun to unfold!

All three of the Branson sisters are lovable characters too and I can’t wait to read each of their stories! I’m also curious to learn more about the girls’ grandmother, Fern, and this supposed prophecy about her powerful granddaughters and the pack that wants to get their hands on these girls!!! Or the fact that their half-shifter mom hasn’t shifted (possibly because of her mother Fern’s tragic death). But I have a feeling something may come up later that will finally trigger her wolf to emerge! I hope I’m right and I can’t wait to find out more!!!

DNF 80% Very vanilla.
Maybe I’m just too old for these type of books… i could not get over a high schooler dating a doctor. It just was super creepy/cringe. Maybe if she at least acted not high school or had at least some maturity, but so was sooo high school.. self absorbed, doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life, sleeps in, has parents calling her princess, stresses over what to wear, has a flipping curfew!!! Meanwhile he’s saving lives as a doctor and buying a house. Like i just can’t, it’s like a dad and a child. He goes to her graduation and is saying how she’s sooo much prettier than other girls.. like dude they are teenagers and you’re flipping old. So gross and not romantic

This is the first in a trilogy, and is the story of Brynn and Brad. Brynn goes to a party in the woods and encounters a wolf who ends up saving her. She doesn't realize he's a wolf though, or the fact that it's Brad, her friend Sammy's older brother. She's thrown into the mate bond in the traditional shifter/human pairing, and it's very much a whirlwind romance. Brad is the older doctor, Brynn is the high school senior about to have her life totally turned upside down. Their romance is so sweet, but it looks like Brad's family isn't the only one with secrets.

I enjoyed the concept of the story while it's still a typical shifter romance with instalove the problem that comes up is different than what I expected. it doesn't really detail the relationship in this story in any way and isn't given much attention but I hope the author chose to explore that more in the other books in the series. You can tell this is a novice writer. I'd love to see her maybe take some writing workshops or see how much she has improved since this book. please keep writing though.

Shifters with a twist

Really enjoyed this first book in the series. It follows Brynn, a young adult on the verge of graduation. She and her sisters attend a party that leads her into the mysterious arms of a doctor with a secret. Pretty classic coming of age shifter love story, but the end has a nice twist to it. Very readable and can't wait to dive into the other sister's stories. Good characters, nice build up for suspense that leads to the next story. 👍
