Kaleb was good with his hands outside of a handyman...that is FOR sure. Good with His Hands is a short novella that has plenty of instalust and instalove. Scarlet and Kaleb were filthy. SO DIRTY. Completely unrealistic and totally fun, I recommend this to anyone that likes short and smutty daddy kink stories.

This super quick read is so hot, spicy, and kinky that it is hazardous to your health to read in public. It is a one-handed, BOB, or partner-required delicious snack of smutty goodness with an age gap, sex with a stranger, Daddy/Little Girl kink, breeding kink, size difference, and a virgin FMC. I am pretty sure that my Kindle started smoking by the end of my read, and I had to take a moment (or more) to compose myself to get on with my day. This is the third short story I have read by Verity Arden; it is by far my favorite. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a smutty quick read.

I Don’t Want To Admit I Kinda Liked It

This book reads like the plot to an 80s porno. Is it hot? Absolutely. Is it filled with the classic toxic patriarchal ideals? 100%
The characters are developed fairly well considering it’s a 51 page story. The plot is very straightforward, but it’s a little more realistic than Arden’s previous plots.
Scarlet’s a short little underwear model with enough curves to bring all the assholes her way. She’s insecure in her sexuality thanks to her ex, so much so that she’s still technically a virgin and highly insecure in her romantic relationships. She’s also a bit of a diva even though she secretly just wants a simple life and the classic American dream.
Kaleb starts out in the story as the typical grouchy handman who’s good at his job and running his own business. When he meets Scarlet and she makes a move, it flips a switch in his brain. He’s suddenly over the top and possessive as hell. She’s way too young for him, but instead of turning him off it turns on his inner daddy dom.
So let’s talk about the content warnings. I read a lot of dark romance and let some crazy stuff fly; but this story had my inner feminist beating her head against a wall. This is a dark hero that’s more than OTP with stark daddy-dom characteristics, this is a character that blows past personal autonomy, gets caught up in his own desires at times disregarding the heroine's needs, and hyper focuses on his woman’s supposed purity. Scarlet is turned on by his behavior and is fully consenting, she’s also the instigator, and at times Kaleb does follow her wishes when they are the opposite of his own.
As always the mechanics of the writing is superb. I have no complaints with the world building or the mechanics of the character development. My only issue is with the hyper focus on purity, it made everything else seem like a step too far even though it’s pretty typical stuff for a daddy-dom age-gap erotica.

On a more serious note, this made me so uncomfortable because of how sick the male character’s inner monologue was. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, it all went downhill from there.

It was very hard to believe our FMC was enjoying any of it based on her reactions when the whole thing was taking place, and then she claimed to have fallen for a guy that she doesn’t even know the name of who has a 12 inch (?!?!?!?!!!!!!) monster cock and a breeding kink? I’m sorry, but no. Also, what’s up with the descriptions this man has for this girl? Pixie??? HAS ANY MAN EVER IN THE HISTORY OF ALL HUMANKIND CALLED A GIRL “PIXIE”? What. The. Fuck.

Barely over half-way through the book I decided to do a little research and see if this one was written by a man because it damn sure felt like it 🤦🏻‍♀️. Come to find out, I’ve previously read two books by this author under the pen name of L.V. Lane (very polarizing ratings, may I add, with one being a 1 star book and the other a solid 4, which is surprisingly inconsistent. I’ve never read an author that’s a hit or miss like this EVER).

I’m so flabbergasted this has a 4 star rating on Goodreads (I should’ve looked at the amount of reviews, but seeing as it just came out recently and she’s not a very popular author I would’ve probably not think much of it even then). Bad writing, odd pacing and overall my least favorite book of all time.

But what she didn’t expect is finding all of the short corners the construction company took when building her apartment. So many shortcuts and so many issues. The shower head falling off during the shower and hitting her toe on a Sunday night was the last straw. It doesn’t matter it’s Sunday, yes it can wait until Monday. But, there’s a point to be made and her throbbing toe is a not so fun reminder of the issues she’s already had to deal with. But what happens when there’s a rough deep voice on the other end of the phone? Will she decide to wait after all? Is it really that big of a deal for a Sunday night repair call?

This was a very quick read. Verity Arden packs a bunch of information about the characters and the world of the story within this storyline. Even though it’s short, you feel pulled into this deep world. The only complaint I have for this story was that it was so short. Can’t wait to see what other stories I can get my hands on.

Scarlet, an underwear model, calls the maintenance line on a lonely Sunday night after her shower head falls off and gets through to Kaleb. The only man available on a Sunday night for the complex. The complex that gives him the most work. He shows up a little bit faster than Scarlet thinks. And just lets himself in to boot.
Kaleb catches a glimpse of her changing into something a little bit more than a towel and things just pop off from there. Taking Scarlet in a fireman's carry, Kaleb roughly deposits her onto her bed. He shows Scarlet just how good he is from there.
This fast paced and character driven novella takes the reader off on a lust filled adventure not clean enough for the office. Readers of L. V. Lane will be lovers of tome. One to put on your to be read list!

What will happen when Kaleb our handyman and MMC shows up less than twenty minutes later and uses his master key to enter the apartment without knocking?

This was my first book by author Verity Arden but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved this novella, and at only 60 pages it was short, steamy, and to the point. I had been going through a bit of a reading slump since April 6th and this definitely helped get me back on track.

I wonder if I can find my own hot, dirty mouthed handyman to help me fix some things around my house 😉

This is a short really hot romance. Her apartment is falling down on her head. So, she calls the handy man and he is handy. Kaleb gets a Sunday night call for repairs on an apartment from a mad Scarlet. He has a master key and he uses it to only find a towel wrapped Scarlet. It’s on from there on. This is a sweet romance written by a new author Verity Arden. I definitely recommend this book.

This one was so HOTTT!!! I really wish it was longer but no matter. It was such a satisfying short read. Kaleb to me was just a total wet dream! Verity Arden did really well to make him come to life. Not What I Was Expecting
