I continue to find Camellia a bit bland character wise, it the cross dressing aspect is the most interesting aspect of this series. Unsure how that can progress since Camellius’ “funeral” is coming.
I kinda like Ian. I’m sure something is going to ruin that because Claude is clearly endgame. His struggling with his feelings for Camelius is quite fascinating to watch.
While I do love how hot the guys are and seem to (at times at least) have the best for Camellius/Camellia, they also annoy me with how they seem to just not understand NO at all. She was clearly uncomfortable but they didn't care. And that guy from the school *pukes*. But I did like seeing her try to figure out things on her own, get stronger and be able to defend herself and stand up for herself, I love the art, love that we got a glimpse of Camellia's real mom (at least given that she reacted to Camellia shouting it must be her), I love how supportive Camellia's maid is, I was delighted to see Camellia as a girl a few times. But that cliffhanger is illegal once again, and this time there is no next volume yet, so ARGH.
Finding Camellia Volume 3 picks up on Camellia’s story as she’s finally able to dress as a woman and get into the streets of the capital to both attempt to find her mother and crack the case of a series of assaults committed against noblewomen.
This one was, by far, the least enjoyable edition because of the side plot with this gang of villains. It turns out they’re only kidnapping and assaulting noblewomen as some twisted sort of revenge against the aristocracy, and it’s just villainy for the sake of villainy. They also openly recruit poor and destitute children from the street to help them lure in their victims, which Camellia rightly calls them out for perpetuating this cycle of violence and crime in the community they claim to care about. But it all falls on deaf ears so….yeah, we could’ve done without all of it.
We get more of Ian trying to cozy up to Camellia, and I’m definitely not in his corner as a reader. This “love” feels very uncomfortable so the love triangle angle doesn’t pan out as well as I think the author would like. Love triangles only work well if both candidates are good options. Claude seems to be (finally) inching closer to the truth, but he’s also still just a grumpy asshole so I’m still feeling him either???
Maybe this is being done on purpose though, because despite everything I’m STILL curious as to what’s going to happen so….off to volume 4 I go.

read until: chapter 131 [completed] + 13 side story (completed)
camellia was taken away from her mother to live as a son of an aristocratic family. because of her sickly half-brother, camellia lost her own identity since the tender age of 12. due to her birth as the illegitimate daughter of the bale family, she strived hard to make up the situation even though it’s none of her responsibility. she survived through verbal abuse and neglect from her father and stepmother. in the meantime, she met claude through her brother. the marquis was aloof since they were young children, but claude grew feelings for camellius (camellia’s boy name) and never turned around after that. he’s always showing affection afterwards. it was really cute. i’m so glad that once the people who loves her found out about her disguise, they 100% worked to make sure she can reclaim her name and freedom.
I love how Claude hates how much he is attracted to Camellia, especially since he thinks she is a man. But you can tell he knows something isn't quite right about her. Having the knowledge that she is a woman pretending to be a man, makes me giggle reading his frustration and dilemma.
OK so I gave this a 3 star because honestly, I remember what the story is about but I don't remember loving it but I also don't remember hating it either. I remember there being some funny parts in it so I guess until I reread this, I'll keep it at a 3 star.
İnanılmaz derecede klişelerle dolu olsa da çok keyif aldım okurken elimde devamı olsa onları da okurdum hatta wkdkdkd Tam Kdrama tadındaydı aşk üçgeni olayı bile enfesti fkkfdkfjjd
Camellius/a begins life at the Academy with an entrance exam and a tour of the city, including a near-miss of the slums where Lady Bale confronted Laura all those years ago and stole child Camellia away. As the investigation into a criminal unfolds, the royal guard believes that Camellius is the only one who can help them. They are looking for a noble man who can go under cover into the slums and pose as a noble lady to be a fake target to weed out the assailants.
While we didn’t get much forward progress in the storyline in this volume, we did get to see Camellius dress as a woman, which compounded many of the male figures complexes and feelings for Camellius. We also learned Ian’s intentions. Camellia was put in a terrifying situation with a potential predator and only Claude saw the danger despite repeated warnings. Our lead character also got a few opportunities to stand up for themselves, which was gratifying. The many layers of Camellia switching gender via clothing aligns beautifully with the many switches in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, which would provide an interesting opportunity for readalikes.
Oh the ups and downs I had with this one. I really enjoyed the story and how the characters changed and grew and shined over the years. However, I was not so invest on the story all the time and I had big gaps reading it.
