Assistant to the Billionaire CEO

Rate this book
She’s my best friend’s sister, and I’m her new boss.

There are three things I expect from a good assistant:
Punctuality, honesty, and trustworthiness.

She says she’s all that. Despite my reservations, I decide to give her a shot.

To my surprise, she’s not the nerdy girl I knew when we were young.
She follows my every command.
She wins over our clients.
She charms her colleagues.
Including me.

Our one-on-one “meetings” are getting hotter—by the copy machine, in the archive room, on top of my desk.
We’re putting on a show for the company security cameras, that’s for sure.

I’m determined to make her mine.
Until I catch her in my office with her hand in my secret drawer.
I can’t wait to hear what she has to say for herself.

Her job (and a happy ending for us) is on the line.

**Audio Review**
Five bossy grump stars! Assistant to the Billionaire CEO by Jolie Day was a swoony and steamy boss/ assistant romantic comedy that left my heart feeling full and deliciously happy! Stella and Ace’s journey to HEA was one HOT hilarious, spicy ride that I didn’t want to end, and had me entranced in their love story from start to finish. This couple is going to the top of my list as a new favorite from Jolie Day!

Vanessa Edwin and Jason Clarke narrate this audiobook, and both were cast perfectly for Stella and Ace! Vanessa’s performance of the sassy, quirky, and bubbly, Stella was such a delight and so much fun! I loved how she also showcased Stella’s budding confidence to go after her dream job and take a chance with Ace. (Yes, lady!) Jason fully embodied Ace’s broody, grumpy, and demanding CEO demeanor, and took his signature growly tone to a whole new swoon-worthy level! (Hello, Chapter 34!) The chemistry between Ace and Stella is off-the-charts, and both narrators gave us all that fiery, forbidden tension that I can never get enough of!

Overall, I LOVED this book! If you are a fan of a billionaire romance with a hunky, bossy architect CEO, a dedicated passionate new assistant, Miss Marple detective sleuthing, a meddling brother, sealing new business mergers, white bikini mishaps, baking eclairs, helicopter lunch dates, supply room punishments, secret office romance, panty shenanigans, all the steamy times, going after what you desire, and a HEA that delivers the winning hand, then you will love Ace and Stella’s romance. I always look forward to more from Jolie Day!

I hated every moment of reading this book. The dialogue was juvenile, between the characters and the internal monologues. I wanted to stop reading this so many times and I wish I would have. So many hours spent that I’ll never get back reading this. I probably will not try the author again.

Childish

This book seems like the product of a 15 year old girl who doesn't know any better. Stella was extremely childish and her brother's actions toward Ace were despicable. I don't believe that Damon, Miles or Oliver were truly Ace's friends. They sounded more like people in their early 20s instead of men running big corporations. I meant Ace acted like a hormonal teenager instead of a CEO. This book was a hard read and you won't miss anything by skipping it

Lots of holes = difficult read

I really struggled to read this. Typically, I can read Kindle books in 3-4 days. It took me two weeks. There are holes (examples below) in the story that, for me, show poor editing to maintain consistency in the series, poor research to confirm believability of some real-life situations, and poor character development / depth. So it was difficult to keep reading because the holes kept coming and were annoying. It didn't help that I came in already having issues with some stuff from book 3. I only read the dialogue several times to finish this. Since it's the end of this series (the only reason I wanted to finish), and is my introductory series to the author, I'm good not reading any more books. 1 book with issues can be an accident, 2 books are the start of a pattern. So, 2 stars for a cute story, loss of 3 stars because the issues undermined the story.

Spoiler examples: (1) The 3 previous books set the guys (Miles, Oliver, Damon, and Ace) up supposedly as best friends since college (over 10 years since they're in their 30s), but they don't recognize Stella in a photo on his phone and Miles doesn't know her name? Yet she and Damon are really close, talking, texting, and meeting regularly. Have they never seen the profile photo pop up in all the times she messaged him? Has she never messaged or called while the guys were together? I don't know any real or fictional best friends who don't know (of) the friend's sibling(s). Is there no proof of their existence (at home, at work, on social media)? Have they never talked about the sibling in all the years of their meet ups? Has the sibling never visited, hung with the guys, or has Damon never canceled meeting with the guys to visit our help his sister? Example 2: Damon and Stella are close, live in the same city (This makes point 1 worse), meet regularly, and he financially supports her, but he never goes to her apartment to visit? Example 3: Stella's embarrassing moment with Ace, her forever crush, was Damon soaking a white bathing suit that turned out to be see through, yet years later, she wears white multiple times to work, even on a rainy day. And then is surprised and embarrassed that it's nearly see-through. What's the obsession with white? Is it supposed to be a running joke of her bad luck with white? This makes no sense even if it's supposed to be a comedic story because the bathing suit incident is the trigger to her Ace heartbreak (per her and Bonnie's discussion), so why does she keep wearing the very color that doesn't work for her on a day she knows she'll get wet? Example 4: Ace immediately shifts to a Christian Gray, "you're going to get spanked at work for being bad" approach at work when they've never established any hint of their attraction for one another. He shows her no signs of interest until that moment; she shows him none. So where's the build-up of sexual tension? Example 5: She learns she's pregnant about three weeks (being generous with time. It's more like 2 weeks) after they have unprotected sex. In what world can a take home test confirm pregnancy in 2-3 weeks after sex? If it's this one, why only this? Example 6: These guys are best friends, yet Damon has Stella spy on Ace because he doesn't believe Ace about potentially suspicious business dealings that may put the Humphries company at risk. According to books 1-3, Damon is this thorough, no-nonsense financial businessman who ensures all Ts and I's are crossed and dotted, is willing to give up a love relationship (book 3) to keep his job, but neither he nor Miles nor Oliver does the necessary work to vet the viability of Ace's company before agreeing to a merger, knowing how the father is? And on the flip side, they're best friends, yet Ace isn't upfront about his ties to Ecclestone when Damon first asks? He just claims to have no ties, knowing exactly what Damon means but choosing to be secretive. Fine, the entire book is only possible because it gets Stella the job, but come on, it's poorly constructed. And more than that, it's inconsistent with the characterization of all involved. Which leads to Example 7: all these issues happening at the company that hint at the suspicious relationship, and there's no real discussion about it, except the passing reconciliation conversation between Ace and Damon couched in the pregnancy announcement. There were opportunities to connect these dots, even if it's by positioning Stella as this detective like her favorite book -- the mislabeled shredded paper in the archives room, the missing 20 boxes (later found), the repeating phone calls of Ecclestone, rude Glenda, etc. -- but nothing is really done to solve the "mystery" and this is where the comedy could have come in. Highlighting Stella's escapades. So yeah the story fell short in a lot of ways that I couldn't suspend my disbelief anymore.

Assistant to the Billionaire CEO: A Hot Romantic Comedy by Jolie Day
Narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin
ALC Audiobook Rating:5/5
Story Rating: 4/5

Favorite quotes: Woman. You were never my dirty secret. Maybe my dirty girl.”

Ace Windsor, the CEO for Windsor Architects, is in desperate need of finding an assistant and yes, he had the reputation of firing one after another. He is grumpy and known to have a bit of a cold demeanor to him at the workplace but deep down inside, he is just as a loveable and caring person in the company. His best friend, Damon Copeland, is in business and of course, they grew up together. One thing for sure, his lingering feelings for Damon’s sister will never be brought to the surface. They did grow up together & yes, Damon’s sister, Stella, was a geeky nerd back then. By her teenage years, it’s when she blooms beautifully and soon enough, as a young adult, she has adorable quirkiness in full blast and just a down to earth kind of woman. She, as well, had a little crush on Damon when they were younger. Things turn upside down and inside out when she becomes his assistant.
Stella is played by the voice of Vanessa Edwin. I truly forgot how amazing she is as a romance narrator. She did so well capturing Stella's personality and definitely brought out how innocent she is. She is a recent Princeton graduate with a degree in architecture and even if the interview, she might get it due to connection but she is extremely smart & knows how to adapt to the hostile work environment. Vanessa Edwin had a way to provide the innocent to bold sexiness to this character. She did a great job!
Ace is played by the voice of Jason Clarke. This man can do it all when it comes to narrating characters especially the ones who are difficult and grumpy. He manages to capture Ace as a strict boss at work but playful outside of work. Well, actually he started to be more playful when Stella became his assistant at and outside of the workplace. Ace is sexy in many ways, to be honest. I love how flirtatious he can be as well as serious he is in the meetings. You can’t ever tell how valuable it is until later on in the story. Yes, Jason Clarke is an incredible romance narrator!
This is a slow burn and little sense of humor in the mix. There is a bit of a mystery or investigation and trust issues that you want to find out how it will turn out. I do love how every character is relatable and well-written, well-developed in each chapter. So, if you want a little giggles, fun, and less drama kind of book, this is for you!

Assistant to the billionaire was enjoy read, Ace and Stella have know each other as Ace is Stella brother friend and she has had a crush on him since she first met him.
Ace is grumpy where Stella is all sunshine and smile she warm the office even brings a grumpy Ace to smile.
But poor Stella gets asked to do something she isn't happy about from her brother but she feel she has no choice for me i wasn't a Damon fan till the end.

it is a good read a little rushed at the end but thats just me.

I wanted to like this I really did but the characters were not to my liking. The girl was so childish that way she talk the way she acted. She is supposed to be an adult not a 13 year old teenager. The guy Ace in their first interactions was like sexually harassing the girl and since she was so clueless didn’t even notice, I’m talking about the copy room scene. After this I just couldn’t for the life of me like this guy. And what about his friends you’re telling me that they are this guy best buddies even like brothers but cannon trust him, and they even didn’t have a reason it just because.

This book was a big eye roll on my part.

loved this series

Read this book series awhile ago, just writing my review. This was my first time reading books by the author, I loved the whole series. It’s funny, spicy. Loved the FMC in all the books as characters are interconnected even tho they are standalone. The MMC are swoon worthy. Loved!

A sweet and cute read. Stella’s quirks are relatable and so down to earth it’s fabulous while Ace’s grumpiness is a perfect contrast. Their story has some unexpected things going on behind the scenes but is absolutely a story you don’t want to miss, plus you’ll definitely laugh and smile a lot of the way through!

DNF this one on like chapter 4 I think. I honestly could not get over the friends going behind the MC back ask spying on him with the sister (FC) it left such a bad yeast in my mouth. The first chapter starts with the guys out having a drink and when our MC goes to the bathroom the other three guys talk about how they don’t trust him and need to start looking into his life and company just to make sure he’s not scamming them. 🙄 that’s not friendship that’s why I DNF this book.

I honestly cannot believe I finished this book. The book jacket made it sound fun and exciting, but there was just so much not right. First off what kind of friend spies on their friend, and does so by getting his sister to do the spying? I get due diligence, but this was ridiculous. I just could not get past how immature everyone was, they are supposed to be grown adults and they just seemed so young. Their relationship seemed to go at warp speed, then suddenly it was off. It was just so chaotic. The saving grace was that the steaminess was nice. Highly disappointed.

This was a tough one to rate. I felt like this was all over the place emotionally but yet I still was drawn to the story and wanted to find out what happens. You get multiple point of views from this book but I feel it was needed in order to truly understand where Damon was coming from and his thought process. However, I feel like most of this book was just getting the merger going and features Stella’s everyday job activities with some flirty moments between her and Ace. He wasn’t denying his attraction to her but he wasn’t fully acting on it. We get the action at the exact last part of the book and I’m only sorry it took this long for it to happen. While I wanted to see how the merger was going to go, I didn’t want almost the whole book to contain it. I did have a love/hate feeling towards Damon and Stella. Ace I didn’t really have a problem with but the author did a good job of getting me to question his loyalty and wonder whether this whole merger would be the downfall of all the friends. When Stella admits to something, I expected Ace to be pissed, but he wasn’t. When Damon found out Stella and Ace were together I thought it would anger him and he would never forgive him but that wasn’t the case. The reactions surprised me and I wondered what exactly would make the shoe drop. To my surprise it was Stella that ends it before it gets any further when I thought for sure it would be Ace but he falls first. Ultimately the story becomes a theme of trust. The lack of it makes for all the minor backstabbing that happens but I just wish the book focused more on Stella and Ace’s relationship rather than have this whole thing about trust among the friends, Ace and Stella. Everyone has a motive so you don’t know what the endgame is but are left deciphering it on your own. With that being said, I give this a 4 because you don’t get the romance aspect until the end of the book and I wanted this sooner, the guilt was too much for me, between Ace, Stella and Damon. On top of that, Stella annoyed me a little bit. She was too loose and laid back for me, but also had self esteem issues that got annoying after a while. While she wore her heart on her sleeve, she was too eager and willing to open her heart and fall into Ace’s arms. This was questionable because throughout the book you’re left wondering if he’s hiding something so to have her be so willing was hard to read. Supposedly there’s continuation of this series but I don’t know how it can continue. I guess we’ll see.

If you're looking for a fun, steamy and heart-warming romance, then "Assisting the Billionaire CEO" is the book for you. This book tells the story of a grumpy alpha boss billionaire named Ace and his sunshiny assistant Stella, who's also the sister of Ace's best friend, making her off-limits. But Ace needs an assistant and Stella is perfect candidate and despite the risks, their chemistry is off the charts, and they can't resist the pull of their office romance.

Ace and Stella are both complex and compelling characters. Ace's gruff exterior hides a softer side, and we see him gradually let down his guard and open up to Stella. Stella, on the other hand, is effervescent and full of life, but she's also a klutz and she's carrying some secrets of her own. Their dynamic is both heartwarming and hella steamy, oooft!!.... and you'll find yourself rooting for them to overcome the obstacles in their journey towards HEA.

The writing in this book is excellent, with crisp dialogue, banter and vivid descriptions that bring the characters and their world to life. Being an office setting; adds a layer of tension and intrigue to the story, and the chemistry between Ace and Stella is electric from the first moment.

But what really makes this book stand out is the emotional depth of the characters. Joile Day does an excellent job of exploring the fears and insecurities that drive Ace and Stella, and their growth over the course of the story is both satisfying and genuine.

Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin were phenomenal in bringing Ace and Stella to life! Jason with his deep signature growly tones that we love and are so well suited to this series –it’s like Ace was written with Jason in mind – likewise Vanessa is such a massive favourite of mine and her voice is so deliciously delectable –her Stella was perfection! They really brought theses wonderful characters to life!

Overall, "Assisting the Billionaire CEO" is a fantastic romance that will leave you feeling both swoony and satisfied. If you're a fan of office romances, and forbidden love, then this is the book for you. Jolie is a wonderfully talented author who casts brilliant voice actors! Highly recommended!
All Swoony stars!

#assistanttothebillionairceo is the new rom com available on ebook and audio by @joliedayauthor

Ace: Grumpy. Intelligent. Loyal. He hasn’t had the best luck with things since his relationship ended, fired his assistant and moved his architecture business cross country. He is back around some of his best friends who he’s trying to merge businesses with but things are getting stressful. His friends sister needs a job, so Ace hires her to be his assistant. He didn’t expect the bombshell in front of him to be perfect for his ever need. Can he remain professional, keep his hands to himself and get the deal done or is getting the girl at the end of the day more important than his deal?

Stella: Shy. Smart. C- detective. Stella loves her brother more than anything and would do anything for him. When he needs a favor after getting her a job with his best friend, she begrudgingly agrees. But the more time she spends with Ace, the more she knows what a great person he is and she had some thoughts wrong. She can’t keep a secret and doesn’t want to be one either. Will she prove family is her priority or has the man that finally made her feel perfect take the top slot for getting all her honestly and devotion?

#vanessaedwin and @jasonclarkereads do it again! These two are absolutely perfect in these roles. They show emotion, banter, quirkiness, anger and love perfectly. The way they are both able to transition from character to character and moods leaves me speechless. Standing ovation!

I’ve loved all Jolie’s books I’ve read or listened to. Ace was tough but he always had a soft spot for Stella. Stella had been in love with Ace for years but tried to hide it. The sparks, chemistry and just overall pull these characters had, was perfectly written!
Absolutely recommend.

The bigger the grump, the harder he falls, and this is no exception for Ace.

Ace Windsor is a bear in an expensive suit. He is grumpy and strict personified; the king of his domain, Windsor Architects. Due to an incident with his previous assistant and her abrupt firing, Ace is in desperate need of an assistant and quick. In comes Stella Copeland.

Stella’s name should instead be Murphy after Murphy’s Law as she is constantly having little mishaps (and bad hair days) that are actually kind of funny. She is a quirky, geeky, nervous, fidgety, innocent but lovable type person who is like a ray of sunshine compared to Ace’s thunder cloud demeanor. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Stella has also had a major crush on Ace since she was a teenager and these emotions have carried over into her adult years.

This is a very slow burn story but I would compare it to fireworks or dynamite; a very long, slow burning fuse but when it ignites… WOW, sparks fly! Add in a little mystery (ala Agatha Christie style), some hot office encounters between Ace and Stella, a little smattering of trust issues, and then a fabulous reunion with an amazing HEA, and you’re left with an enthralling Jolie Day story. Ace is utter perfection and Stella is exactly the person to bring him to his knees. And, I have to say that I literally laughed out loud at the celebratory gift that Ace gives Stella at the very end of the book!! Hilarious, but you’ll just have to read this book to understand.

I also like the fact that you get chapters from the POV of Ace’s best friend, who also happens to be Stella’s big brother, Damon from Charming My Broody Billionaire Boss but it is not absolutely necessary that you read that story first.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
This series by Jolie Day needs to keep going FOREVER! 💜
This book was absolutely incredible!

✨ I loved the uniqueness of the three POV - Ace, Stella and Damon - and that it gives us another dimension to the story.
Knowing Damon's POV kept me on high alert regarding Ace and yet listening to Ace I couldn't understand what Damon wants!

But this brother's best friend, former crush and all this work environment (I just LOVE the grumpy boss 😍) all tangled up together was crazy HOT 🔥

The relationship between Ace and Stella was so beautifully built and seeing how both of them affected each other was really mezmerising.

I loved that I really couldn't know what was going on almost until the end because it made me just want to listen ALL DAY LONG!!

🎧 The narrators were extraordinary!
Jason Clarke as Ace and Damon was really two different people. As Ace he was kind of mysterious, he was loving and caring all while he was grumpy, assertive and sexy as all hell! And when he was Damon he was suspicious, friendly and the best big brother Stella could ask for.
Jason is definitely one if not the best when it comes to male romance narrator.

🎧 Vanessa Edwin was absolutely amazing. I admit I haven't listened to many audiobooks narrated by her but her performance as Stella was really good. Her accent as Jay the cab driver was fantastic! It was as if it was a different person!

I loved this book so much and I absolutely loved the narration 😍
Now I'm hoping we get a book about Tilly and the HOT doctor 😉

I Loved this book so much.
Amusing, entertaining and compelling Jolie Day made me smile throughout this story between Ace and Stella.Their story is a best friends sister/forbidden/work place romance and it had all the key ingredients to the perfect romcom.
Ace needs an assistant A.S.A.P...and it just so happens that his friend Damon's sister is looking for a job.So what has he got to lose so gives her a chance at the job,and she surprises him with her skills...and other things.
They have known one another for years because of Damon but haven't seen eachother since Stella was at college...and there has always been a little bit of an attraction between them.Stella is now an irresistable, beautiful woman and Ace is just as grumpy and still incredibly heart stoppingly handsome.
Now they have to work closely together and that same attraction along with the chemistry is now off the charts. The sexual tension is amazing and the banter and push and pull between them is such a delight to read.
But Stella has a secret that involves her brother and could jeopardise their blossoming relationship if Ace discovers what it is.
I always Love reading Jolie Day's books and I really enjoyed Assistant to the Billionaire CEO Ace and Stella are great characters and with all their shenanigans this story makes such a feel good pleasurable read...Funny,steamy and sweet I LOved it.
Excellent.

This was a brother's best friend slow burn office romantic comedy.

This was an enjoyable story with many laugh out loud moments. The characters, both main and secondary, were well developed and relatable. Would recommend.

Stella Copeland is a recent Princeton graduate with a degree in architecture. She is Damon's baby sister. She has had a crush on Ace since high school. She is a bookworm, nerdy, loves to bake, is nice to everyone and is curvy.

Ace Windsor is tall, gorgeous, difficult, grumpy and strict. He owns Windsor Architects. His little sister just had a baby and is now living with him. He shares a love of motorcycles with his buddies Damon, Oliver and Miles.

Ace recently moved his company from San Francisco to New York. His former assistant managed to make the move a nightmare before she was fired. Ace is in desperate need of a new assistant he can trust. Damon suggests his sister Stella who is job hunting. Ace is in the process of selling his firm to the family construction business owned by Miles and Oliver's father and where Damon also works. Ace hires Stella but then Damon asks her to spy on Ace to see if he has any contact with a rival company with a bad reputation. Ace and Stella have a flirtatious relationship even though they both know they should not pursue anything between them. They wind up sleeping together and their actions have consequences. After resolving their conflicts, they get their HEA and the merger goes through.

Never wear a white bikini….

Don’t be late listening to this one! Or Ace, our grumpy Billionaire CEO, will punish you in the best ways. 😉

Jolie gave us another fun romantic comedy with a brother’s best friend, age-gap, secret crush, grumpy/sunshine vibe that we absolutely loved!

What happens when you decide to merge your architectural firm with your college best friend’s construction company? They may send their little sister in as your assistant to spy on you! Although, Stella’s detective skills leave a lot to be desired - Agatha Christie she is NOT. Add that to the fact that there was a certain white bikini incident that happened between Ace & Stella when she turned eighteen, and you have the perfect recipe for spicy, clandestine rendezvous in helicopters, supply closets, copy rooms…you get the idea!

This book is narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin. These two are so hot narrating together! Jason is amazing as always, pulling double duty as both Ace, Stella’s love interest, and Damon, Stella’s big brother. Vanessa is delightful as Stella, who seems to have one hilarious mishap after another in front of her secret crush, Ace.

Assistant to the Billionaire CEO is a stand-alone novel, but is the fourth installment of Jolie's Kiss a Billionaire series. You do not have to read the books in order, but will appreciate the characters so much more if you do! We love everything we listen to from Jolie Day... she is a one-click author for us!!

I'm at 6% and it's so painful. This is my favorite trope and I rarely ever DNF a book, but this might be the first one that I DNF without making it to chapter two. The dialogue feels so forced and unnatural and awkward. The story opens up with the main male character and his friends. The conversation is just heaps and heaps of information given to you to create a backstory instead of learning some of this stuff throughout the entire story or as the book progresses. Now at 6%, after building up how all these guys have been best friends at college, now they are considering one of the guys they are about to do business with can't be trusted and might be shady. Like, what? You spent all this time building their friendship to then show there's absolutely no trust between these best friends. Did I mention how much the dialogue is making me cringe? It's rough. I'm truly struggling to stay interested which is super disappointing because it sounded really good plus all the good reviews, though now looking back I see a good majority of the ones on the first page were free books given in exchange for a review, so maybe that's the misleading reason for all the high praise reviews.

EDIT: After reading the other one and two-star reviews and reinforcing the points I already learned by 6% into the book. I definitely will not finish this seeing as those other reviews convince me that the rest of the book will not improve from this bad start.

this book and series was good

Honestly this series blew me away. I always dread reading the whole series when I want to read one book but since I am an organized freak that causes me to read in order and once I get in the mode I will not stop. Even if I start with the book I wanted to read in the first place I will end up going back and reading the others because I will feel like I missed something and won’t give the book my honest review because I went out of order and then on top of it when I notice there where more books when is started and finished a book in the past I would have been annoyed that it was out of order. Anyways enough about me and back to my review but I got to say this book or I should say these books are definitely worth the read if you like these type of situations because honestly they all hold the right amount of drama and release the same amount of spice where it is not overwhelming or overloading to proceed with reading these books. They are the exact opposite and I definitely recommend you to read these because in my opinion you won’t regret because I know I didn’t these where definitely hits for me and I see myself reading these books again especially when my memory kicks in one day and I will be like what book is that and then I will end up remembering and then I will end up being in a mood to read these again. So go read this book.
