MONSTER SPEED DATING—sounds fun, right?Except my life as a marine biologist takes a slippery turn when I mistake a cthulhu for an octopus, only to find him seated across from me on date night.
Now, every time I turn around, he’s there.
Watching.
Winking.
Waiting until I succumb to his charm.
But I’m not ready for love. I have my studies, a mission to save the ocean, and a secret darker than the deepest depths of the sea.
Will Chaos claim me as his, or will I run from him like everyone else in my life?
☢️ok so i advise to NOT reading the prologue(if anyone decides to reading this) because i know many of my friends won't like it(wish someone could warn me too). the hero has to spawn, it's a biological thing and he does it with a mated Cthulhu for the last couple of years🥴 anyways this year the woman says let's make it with my mate.we read a couple of fmf kissing moments, hero gives his kotilo(cock) to one of the females and leaves but still it was uncomfortable for me🤐
so the actual book stars with: marine biologist heroine is in the sea for a late night swim and she saw a cute little tentacle thingy and thought it's an octopus 🐙 she pets it but wait 😦 it's actually our hero's kotilo(dick) 😳 and when the hero ascend from the sea like Poseidon 🔱 the heroine keeps petting him🤨 he comes in her hand 🙄 what a weird scene
anyways she goes on a speed dating with monsters event, her bff which also has a crush on our heroine takes her there. guess who's there? 🤨 did you say the hero? YAY!!!! YOU WON NOTHING 🎉
so they spend a couple of days together because the dude is sure that they're mates, kissing making each other come etc. one day she talks about her past ❗❗she had a real bad experience😔. her first bf forced her anal sex multiple times, she wasn't willing but thought i love him so i have to😢, and he doesn't want to have vaginal sex. so one day she tricks him and he comes inside of her(daphne bridgeton who) and BOOM she's pregnant 😔 her family says no that's a sin ❌ she gave birth but the family give child to someone else❗❗
so after reading this traumatizing experience what did you expect? personally i did not expect her to get pregnant but oh well 🤷🏼♀️ he accidentally gifted his detachable kotilo to her 🎁 and she obviously used it because she thought it's a toy🙄 yes yes she got pregnant 🤰🏼
also remember the couple from the epilogue you didn't read? one of them gets pregnant and her baby(egg) isn't doing well, at the same time her sister lost her mate(she's a gorgon and her mate accidentally saw her hair/snakes) so the book casually mentions things like child loss, spouse loss🤨
i didn't find this safe for me and i don't recommend this to any of my friends.(but that's my opinion so if you decide to read, enjoy!) stay safe and happy besties 🤍
It felt like all the emotions where thrown in here as well of various topics. I really enjoyed the book, went from sex, spicy, hilarious and very serious very quickly. And at times I felt like there where to many things to be focused on and resolved in the amount of pages but overall I enjoyed it. Found there relationship very cute but also steamy and hilarious. There where scenes I won't soon forget that had me laughing loud. Found the topic of chutullus mating and its issues to be an interesting thing to read about ad one of my favorite thing about monster romance is to learn about diffrennt creatures and things to do with them.
I’m not going to lie the cover roped me into reading this and it was not at all what I expected. This book was wild and not in the best way. It had some fun elements, but it missed the mark. I really liked that this was LGBTQIA friendly and that the author wasn’t afraid to go there with the sex scenes. The MMC uses all of the tentacles on his face and has a detachable dick. So yeah lots of fun sexy times.
My issue was with the books execution. It felt like the author wanted to tackle some tougher topics while still being light hearted and campy. I’ve read other authors who can juggle both, but this missed the mark by a mile. It was very jumbled for me. One minute the book would be light and free and the next minute a darker element is tossed in. I feel like this could have been handled better. I also would have loved more world building. Yes there are a variety of monsters in this world, but the author doesn’t do the best job of explaining the hows/ways of it all.
This series has potential if it’s fleshed out more. There were some really fun elements to it and the sex scenes are banana pants in a good way. I’m hoping the next book will be better.
The cover is super cute, I was so excited to dive into this book only to be shocked by the prologue... that was NOT why I bought the book. Immediately returned it. Would not have picked it up had I known there was going to be a freakin FFM scene (threesome with two women) other than the FMC. Nope.
Human x Monster LGBTQ+ Friendly Size difference Fancy peen 🍆 Insta-Lust Anal Pegging HEA
First 70% of the book had me : 😂🥵😍 Last 30% of the book had me : 🥵🥺😭😍
This book was absolutely hilarious and moving at the same time. I loved every minute of it. I didn't want to put it down even when work was calling me. I enjoyed the science aspect of it as well and how it helped bring them together and solve some of their issues. How Chaos was able to solve the issue that had been plaguing him since the beginning.
I went through so many emotions with Marea throughout this book. Towards the ending, I was so deep in the feels for her and what she went through. I was glad that both her and Chaos found their HEA.
Chaos was the perfect gentleman, I mean cthulhu, until Marea didn't want him to be. Their chemistry was off the charts 🥵 and the sass she had for her man was 🤌🏻. And the spice was fantastic. Detailed scenes and many of them.
I hope her friend Callie gets to have a book; I'd love to see her with a certain monstress. I think they would make an adorable couple.
Thank you to the author for a chance to ARC read this.
I wanted to enjoy this book, and the first half was very promising. Light, kind of ridiculous and fun. We love a women in STEM. Tentacles are fun.
But... the pacing was a bit strange. I'm usually all for fated mates, but still missed the mark a bit for me. I guess I wasn't really buying the relationship development, and it felt lacking for me.
The writing had a light-hearted tone for the most part. Which was nice and fun, but when the author tried to inject some more serious topics into the story, it didn't translate that well and felt a bit off.
The dialogue felt quite stilted, and some of the lines/speeches went on for half a page, which didn't feel natural. It felt like the author tried to poke fun at this fact herself, by having another character say something about "motivational speakers", but it still felt very stilted.
The spice was interesting and I definitely appreciated all the LGBTQ+ friendly aspects of the story and characters.
I liked the premise of the story and the characters, but the execution left me wanting more. I wanted to like this more, but sadly didn't.
This is an arc review that I've left of my own free will.
we all know why you're reading my review so I'll get straight to the details: 1. can make suckers appear ANYWHERE 2. can remove his peepee (purpose: pegging, use as a personal toy, toss into a mating pile for spawning. Peepee is sentient while separate and attached. Brilliant.) 3. face barbels (like tentacle fingers but smooth) get inserted and can grab/touch/rub *again can grown suckers here at will 3. claws 4. sharp teeth (oh you aren't into that? too bad.)
Dong Details: dark teal fades to lime green then to a yellow tip, purple seed, mating venom, suction knots, has its own brain, feelers unfurl from tip like fern leaves
Ok on to the story now... it was spicy and sweet. Scientists searching for answers but finding answers within each other. Honestly such a sweet plot line. Amazing characters and details... ok yes I'm thinking about cthulhu cock again. Great story. Must read.
I got this book for free during stuff your kindle day and it exceeded any expectations I had. This is part of a series of different monster romances but it can be read as a standalone like I did. At nearly 300 pages, there is a lot more plot than I was expecting and I really liked seeing them being all cutesy together and going on dates just as much as I enjoyed the spicy scenes. There were many parts of the book I found quite funny, especially how they met. It kinda makes me want to go looking for bimaculoid octopi tentacles sticking out of the sand (iykyk). All the characters were complex with their own traumas and backstories and I liked reading about the cthulhu culture. Also his you know what is detachable and retains memories. 4.5 stars
I felt that the light-hearted tone and tougher triggering topics weren't balanced well. The darker elements felt like they were glossed over and not given the reverance needed. But let's be serious, most folks aren't reading this for the plot.
“Guilt is a powerful tool that can be the catalyst for healing if acknowledged responsibly, but usually ends up being a person’s own form of self-destruction.”
It starts off very spicy very quickly! I was not prepared for it lol.
I devoured this book so fast. Absolutely adored the MMC Chaos 🥰. He would crawl to the ends of the universe (and probably multiple oceans) for Marea.
Even with this book being very smutty there was still a decent plot. And the side characters were well developed! I want to be besties with Callie!
The only way I pictured the mmc is as the handsome squidward meme lol. This had some very interesting plot points and kept me engaged throughout but it just didn’t hit any of my favs. I might read the next one just to see how that story goes but I might also not read it and not be bothered by not finishing the story. Oh and detachable cocks are a thing lol
This was a great paced story that was surprisingly exciting with lots of story and smut. I appreciated the Cthulhu anatomy lessons as it was incredibly detailed and unlike anything I have read before. I laughed at the unintentional hijinks out loud! If you are looking for a fun read, look no further.
This was a hilarious and adorable monster meet cute!
I adore Chaos and Marea together, and love how passionate Chaos is about helping out his species. the fact that this monsters "thang" "thang" comes off!!! omg endless humor...and spicy fun times.
This author is definitely going to be a one click author from now on!
Lovely book. It broke the reading mojo curse I’ve been under for 7 months. Really enjoyed the story and the characters. Looking forward to the next book.
An interesting monster novel. Wasn’t sure what to expect. Read for book club. I liked the characters, and I thought the pacing was not bad. Not much for pregnancy endings personally.
i really really liked this. my only complaint is the very awkward spanish. i only took 4 years in school but it seemed very “textbook” spanish vs how someone who actually speaks spanish fluently. if that makes sense. i feel like if someone is fluent.. they would be put off by it.
The cover looks like it's going to be all cutesy wutesy (yes this is a word, trust me).
It's not. I mean there's some cute things but there's also ✨TRAUMA✨ like religious trauma, spousal death, possible child death /egg death/sickness? Idk and like a bunch of other trauma that's all pretty damned heavy and there isn't enough light heartedness to balance all that imo.
I didn't hate this but I was hoping for more light than this.
This book was so fun to read. Took me for a ride I didn't want get off.
Claimed by Cthulhu starts off with chaos being afflicted by the spawning season of his kind and is desperate to look for a cure. He doesn't want mindless procreation and desperately wants a mate and when he finds Marea he's not too keen on letting her go.
I just could not put this book down.
I really liked Marea and Callie's friendship. If my best friend ain't like Callie, I don't want them. The dialogue between the two of them was hilarious.
Chaos was such a joy. He was so compassionate and understanding. I enjoyed that he didn't try to rush into things with Marea even though he knew time was ticking.
Marea was a delight as well and my heart went out to her about her background.
The spicy scenes were wilddd. 5/5. This things that could be done with Tenciclez are crazy.
Only thing I was a bit confused about was the Spanish speaking parts. I don't speak a lick of the language and only understand some of what was said, so it was a bit off putting to not understand what they were saying as there was no translation for it. I just had to make an educated guess.
Overall I really enjoyed this story. It had me cracking up the majority of the time and my jaw dropping for the rest.
I received this book as an ARC. This is my unbiased review.
Marine biologist Marea mistakes a cthulhu part for a tentacle from a common octopus and ends up unintentionally giving Chaos a VERY happy ending. Given that Chaos has been hunting for his mate, this really isn't a problem for the big guy. Because finding your mate is a happy occasion and all that.
The downside? Marea's human and doesn't feel the pull like Chaos does. The upside, she's willing to give things a try (after initially running away from him...twice). But Marea also has some baggage to unpack and Chaos is working under a looming deadline and it takes time, a little patience, and cthulhu female willing to spill the beans to Marea before these two can get where they need to be.
No lie, Chaos is creative with his tentacles (ALL of them) and Marea is willing to try just about anything (as shown by her liberal use of the gift he didn't mean to give her), which pretty much makes them a good match. Did I think Marea got over her trauma fairly quickly? Sort of. But I picked up this book for the cthulhu anatomy and I DEFINITELY got that.
Did I read this in an entire day? no comment Did i enjoy this as much as the very first? No. I’ll be honest i didn’t, however !! I also believe this and audited by anubis feel like such different books and that played a major part in it. Chaos’ book is much more of a scientifically professional love story. (Very science heavy but this is such a good thing for us as readers since we do have a naturally curious female protagonist who also needs to know!) It did seem kind of Niche, tho when dealing with something as complex as Cthulhu i guess it does make sense! I do agree with others that it felt rushed and at the end we were told a lot more than we were shown, but i don’t know how it could’ve been lengthened either, so it isn’t a huge complaint for me. Overall.. I am hooked to this series and i can’t wait for more
I actually loved this book!!! The spice was HOT AND EXCELLENT. Lots of tentacles which leaves me thinking…
And the science part added an intelligent aspect which broke up the spice and added real life feels to it. It was sweet and wrote really well. And this book had life lessons. Really a great story.
Obviously if you’re not into weird stuff, monster smut is NOT for you. But if you’re curious or into weird shit, then read this! I will definitely be checking out the other books in the Monster Meet Cute series.
This book was beautiful. It made me laugh, cry, take my boyfriend for many spins, spiked my interest in mythology and creatures, and made me fall even more in love.
For a book that is portrayed as a monster smut novel, it did wonderful in opening up about SA, trust, panic attacks, pregnancy, loss of every kind, adoptions, and the unavoidable consequences of our biology.
This book touched me in so many ways. I cannot recommend it enough.
I thought I was going to read a fun and smutty M/F alien story. Nope. And it jumped right into him having to have relations with another F- and that one is involved in a F/F relationship but it's all good, he just gives her the D so they can play. Ummmm.. Nope. Not happy, this isn't what I was wanting to read.
