About the author

Gail Z. Martin discovered her passion for science fiction, fantasy and ghost stories in elementary school. The first story she wroteat age fivewas about a vampire. Her favorite TV show as a preschooler was Dark Shadows. At age 14, she decided to become a writer.

She enjoys attending science fiction/fantasy conventions, Renaissance fairs and living history sites. She is married and has three children, a Maltese and a golden retriever.

This is a fabulous series for speculative fantasy and urban fantasy fans. We have Joe Mack, the everyday blue collar guy, who makes a leap of faith at a very critical point in his life and becomes the rough-edged almost-invisible and humble immortal champion of a pagan god in a 1920’s Chicago which is simultaneously recognizable (i.e. WWII is looming) and unrecognizable (i.e. werewolves). How often do you have someone like this willingly playing second fiddle to the Elliott Ness of supernatural affairs? Joe Mack is so relatable, that I keep looking for him during my evening strolls. If you want an implausible hero with a heart who feels like the guy next door, you want to get to know Joe Mack.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I enjoyed this box set that has a lot of action dealing with different aspects of the paranormal world. It follows Joe from his change from Josef when he pledges himself to a god, Krukis, to modern times when the group known as C.H.A.R.O.N. comes to light. It captures your interest from beginning to end.
