Hippie-Kommune trifft auf Aussiedler am Ende der Welt in Alaska. Super lustig und absurd.

Intriguing account of a hippie commune and it's people who shift from California to Alaska in 1970. Full of exploits, colour, tales of survival and life in community. It manages to find a nice balance of the highs and the lows, the pettiness, the conflicts, the smells, the joys and celebrations, the hopes and disappointments of these flawed characters. This is not an utopian rose colored glasses account, it is gritty and all too human.

Great read. It was a bit confusing with the number of characters, but it was a page turner.

I like this book, really interesting. Although I almost wish it were two separate books; the characters in both Drop City and Alaska were interesting enough to live as their own story in a full length novel. That said, I definitely recommend it. TC Boyle is as interesting as ever.
