Imagine waking up and finding out you were in a car accident that had left you in a coma. Worse your 10 yr old son was killed. The police are not helping to find out what actually happened. We meet our protagonist, Meg as she wakes up from a long standing coma and finds out her son is gone. She needs answers that she is not getting so she decides to ask for help. Just not exactly from the people one might expect. The book truly has the Cole Baxter feel to it however, it did not seem to have the mystery that his other books did. Not a disappointment, just thought it would be more gut wrenching drama that one has come to know and expect from him. The storyline is impeccable and could not have turned out better. The ending brings everything together and the characters make you want more.
Strangely enough, this one didn’t really have that gut-wrenching fear factor that I’ve come to love about Cole Baxter’s novels. This one was pretty easy to figure out while still maintaining a pretty high level of suspense. The storyline was terrific; the characters were really pretty darn interesting; the plot twists and turns were great—even though some were pretty darn recognizable; and the ending…freakin awesome. While I felt like the book ran too long in the middle, I was pleased as always how Cole ties everything up at the end. You need to read this book—today. It’s well worth your time. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and enjoyed it!)
Meg and her son were in a car accident and when Meg woke up months later in a coma her life completely changed and nothing about it was good. This is a page turning, suspenseful action packed read with intrigue, questions, revenge, and edge of your seat twists and turns that had me reading nonstop wondering how Meg's story would end. The writing is well done, the characters are well developed, and I can't wait to read the next book by this fabulous author. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wow fantastic .when meg gray wakes from a coma after 10 1/2 months they tell her her son is dead so when she recovers enough, she goes on the hunt for the truth .this was absolutely amazing I loved how she took what she learned from her military and time with the CIA, but also hiring people that help in subjects of her weakness to get to the facts .
I cannot imagine the pain Meg felt waking up from a coma after 10 1/2 months to be told her son is dead, its every parents worst nightmare. Meg can't leave it alone, she needs to find out what happened and find the man responsible. Meg draws on her military experience and CIA to help her. Her search leads her into the dark underworld in San Franscisco....what she finds is shocking. This thriller has many twists and turns and will keep you keeping you guessing.
I really enjoy all these stories. This was a great one and I loved Meg, the main character. It was kinda Kill Bill’ish. Nice twist at the end that I didn’t fully pick up on until almost 3/4 down. What is frustrating is the typos I keep seeing in so many of Mr Baxter’s books. Meg became Mag and David became Daniel. Just annoying by that was a simple thing to catch but I see it in almost every book!
CB has written another great psychological thriller. This one is about a mother who is desperately trying to find the murderer of her son. There was a twist that I didn’t see coming. There’s lots of action and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat with this one! Great story. *this was a complimentary copy and this is my honest review*
This was a book I did not want to put down! It seemed as if something was always happening to where I had to read the next chapter right away to see what was going to happen next.
Although there were some good areas of the book, I found myself skipping through pages because she spent way too much time, talking about the same things over and over and over again.
Poorly edited and extremely repetitive. DNF, gave up at 27% after major typo and not being able to take being told anymore that Meg wants to take revenge on whoever it is that "killed" her son.
